I knew I did a review back in 2014 and we started going in 2011, but we ended up getting to go back after COVID and coming back to the city. It's everything I remember, it is the hype, it is amazing and it remains one of the coolest dinner experiences in the US, still. Amazing staff, amazing people, amazing food and concept. An absolute treasure.

The food never ends. It is family style and small plates, but a million small plates will stuff you to the top! Half way through the meal, you're encouraged to check out the house and back yard, we were SO impressed that all this food was being pumped out by a typical house kitchen. We were convinced there was an industrial kitchen in the basement. Parking wasn't bad for us, but I do see how it can be tough depending on the day. It is pricey, So be prepared. The experience is what is factored into the price. Some plates were hit or miss, but I do think it is a nice place to see for yourself.

No sub dish for allergy courses. This was confirmed at reservation and again at seating. Long reservation for at best mediocre catered food. I'd say it is the most overrated place so far. Price at 100 plus gratuity per head is not worth it. Go to Hoboken for real Italian dishes.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance was great.
I really wanted to like this place. It really felt like home. But the food was not to mine or my husbands liking. I don't think we are hard to please. We both love food. I enjoyed the lemon pasta and the polenta. So out of 5 or 6 courses, I liked 2. For $100 a plate and no menu choices, I just expected better. Beware of the breadsticks, you might chip a tooth.

Not sure why this place requires one year reservation Food is Italian Diner food Basically cheap ingredients - one meat course Chicken No bread and butter No antipasti Save your money which is way overpriced - estimate 50 dollar food cost for Our 800 dollar bill

The atmosphere is so homey and warm and welcoming. It's perfect for a date or for a special celebration. The wait staff was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. We had a few people with dietary restrictions and they were able to accommodate. My advice when coming here is to come hungry and don't eat too much of one thing. You will love everything and want to have multiple servings of everything. But if you do that, it's hard to make it to the end. Pace, not a race. Now the food. Wow. Wow. Wow. The first course could have been a perfect meal on its own. The stuffed peppers, the roasted garlic, the eggplant parm...it was all to die for. Nothing was bland. Everything was fresh, served warm, and got better with each bite. There were so many dishes that I will just highlight a few. The manicotti was perfection. The pasta was so light and delicate that it was like eating a cloud filled with ricotta. The lemon pasta was outstanding but my one criticism is that it could have used just a touch of salt via some more Parmesan cheese. The shrimp dish was perfectly cooked and the salad served in the bread bowl was incredible. The tomatoes were so fresh and the dressing was light and flavorful. The polenta. Holy cow. It was so buttery and creamy and the Arrabiata sauce had just a touch of spice to it. And last highlight was the butternut squash. It was sweet and tender and made my husband who doesn't like vegetables a butternut squash fan. Save room for the dessert, especially the cannoli filled pastry with fig. Overall, the flavors were some of the best Italian I have ever had outside of my grandmother's kitchen. If you can go to this place, do it. You won't regret it.
Be the first to ReplyMy review is specific to my phone calls with Mary Lou.
I've seen so much hype about this place but I can't get past my experience trying to make a reservation. Mary Lou has been extremely rude to me on two occasions. I simply asked a few questions about the experience and making a reservation and was even happy to take a date a year out if needed. Her attitude towards what 15 Fox Place has become is so negative I can't believe it's still operating. I will not call back again and feel this place can't be worth it.

For any dining experience it is important to consider the food, the service and the ambiance. The service is good and servers are friendly. The ambiance is unique as it is a home in a neighborhood. Also, it is a local business. Those two alone do not justify the price. The food - don't be fooled. The polenta was good and the lemon pasta was good (all two bites you get served). The rest of the food was meh. The "pizza" tasted like an after school snack I made in the toaster oven when I was 12. The portions are ridiculously small, carb filled and spread out. This way you get the illusion you ate a lot and get full. Also, there is this big build up to the final dish which you think will be big. It's not and it's chicken. Seriously for $100/person, the big final dish is salty chicken. The desserts are accompanied with Folgers (or similar quality average coffee) and limoncello (tasted like straight vodka dyed yellow), just left a poor taste in my mouth. Based on previous reviews, it seems like their menu has hardly changed. Stop hyping this place up. Somehow they are booked out until February 2024. If anyone tells you this is the best meal they ever ate, they need their head examined. Bottom line: don't waste your money or the effort it takes to get a reservation here. Believe the other poor reviews, they are spot on.

Talk about a speakeasy, but in the form of food and this would be your place! They have 6 courses, but with roughly 16 dishes total. Come hungry and leave IMMENSELY satisfied. Nothing disappointed. If you're looking for a nice home cooked meal, look no further than 15 Fox! The culinary expertise, to the fantastic service, to the ambiance. Everything was above 10/10! However, make sure you book as soon as you can! They're generally booked months in advance. If I'm not mistaken in what I heard, they're booked through 2023 into early 2024! I will be back! (If I'm able to snag another reservation!)
Be the first to ReplyFirst off I must disagree with the negative Nellys.
This place was one of the best meals I Had in 10 years. The food was very fresh. Everybody that's been there with me had a wonderful time. If you give reviews to everyplace and thing you do , How can you have a nice time and be in the moment. Relax and enjoy

When reviewing a restaurant with a 9 month reservation wait there's really very little to say that isn't implied. Just go. Go hungry and don't be on a diet. If you are on a diet be prepared to destroy it completely or stay the hell home. Yes, it's really THAT good.
Be the first to ReplySo this is nothing short of a great family run business.
It's a cool little home tucked away in Newark and if you don't know about it it's worth going once. The cool rooms you get to sit in and the back terrace are quaint. The food is endless and just keeps coming, everything homemade in a tiny kitchen, not sure how they pull it off. I wouldn't say it's the best Italian meal I have ever had - but it is tasty and again, endless courses. However, and here is the part not to miss... for $100 a person- plus tip&tax- they are sitting on a gold mine. No rent to pay just purchase the food! Only 3 seatings and only open a few nights- they are doing it right! Keep it up and maybe they can all retire soon!!!

Superb service and Vegan options- my food was so delicious. I also got my own little plates of food since the rest of the table shared meat/dairy dishes. We went at Christmastime, and because there were enough of us, we had our own room. The owner was sweet and shared the backstory of this beautiful eatery. It's definitely something to save up for- go for a special occasion, and it'll be even more memorable.

You are literally eating in an old house and it is awesome. It is a family run place and they even let you get up and explore the house at one point in the meal. We sat in a small corner of the place and the charm is next level here. The food comes out quickly with all sorts of items. I couldn't possibly remember them all but you won't leave hungry. Whoever said they don't get enough food for $100 fee must have came in a big group or something. It is byob which makes it even better. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed it. The chef/owner even came out to say hello and he was a nice fella. This is a must visit in the area. Come check this spot out if you can get in. Btw, We found parking very easy right outside the restaurant.

... yeah you'll remember to never go back there. I am so disturbed by this restaurant and the reviews. If you never had Italian food you would think this is ok. Let's start off with the 100$ per plate. The food combined for 6 people would be IN TOTAL 75$ worth of food. The whole point of a restaurant is the food. I was incredibly disappointed. My brother set a reservation for our fathers birthday. He really wanted to have it at a genuine, fancy ,& good quality Italian restaurant. He decided on this place based solely on the fact that it is rated so high and is even recommended on websites. Those publishers should be sued for blatantly lying and the owner should be too, for ripping people off. No one who has taste buds or had been to a restaurant before in there life would write an article praising this place, unless there being compensated to do so. I would of rated it two stars because the atmosphere is very cool. But the ratings are way too high overall. People need to be aware of the meal prior because my poor brother paid 700$ for all the food totaling maybe 75$. The owner has made enough profit. He should at least give better food. It's not even what's served during a traditional Italian 6 course meal. This was HORRIBLE FOOD! Like i said, cool atmosphere & the staff was very nice but I'm not paying for a nice waiter and I'm not paying for an atmosphere... I'm paying for food. It was TERRIBLE.

I'd really like to leave 1 star for this place because the food was awful. They server you 15 dishes, but they are all terrible. I don't even want to write about individual dishes. The service we received was great though and the setting was nice. That's pretty much why they received 1x more stars...
Be the first to ReplySuch a fun and delicious dining experience.
Went as a party of 2 and ate indoors in May 2021. Surprising there are such mixed reviews on volume and quality of food because we had absolutely no issue. Every course was absolutely delicious, food was plentiful with generous servings/courses, and the experience was well worth the price tag. Nice plus it's BYOB too!Really amazing service and homey/comforting atmosphere. You're allowed to look at other rooms and wall decor, go outside, upstairs/downsairs during a break between courses which was a nice tough too. some of my favorite dishes were the polenta, stuffed clams, and peppers (chips/hot peppers as well as the stuffed ones). Highly recommend and would definitely go back with a group.
Be the first to ReplyService and hospitality get a 5.
However, we were disappointed with the food. If Jersey City had a tourist trap, this would be it.
Be the first to ReplyTook my girlfriend here for a much needed date night.
Loved it. A lot of food so come hungry. Great server and host.
Be the first to ReplyIt was a unique place in a Residential area.
Literally walking into a house like you're going to grandmas. For 90$ a head though, not worth it. The food was just ok, and the portions are reallllly small. They send out little pizzettes that taste like Elios frozen pizza, everything is like take a teaspoon scoop and pass it along. For the price I won't be back. If it were like $45 a head ok maybe. That's probably still more than what it's worth. It's basically stretching the meals out so you literallyGet one bite. Food wasn't hot, food wasn't very tasty, and some of it was soooo over cooked. Baby eggplant roll the size of a pinky finger it was BLACK! So burnt and crunchy it had no taste but burnt. The manicotti was so over done it was like mush.

Without a doubt, one of the best food experiences I've ever had. Everything from start to finish was unbelievable. Every dish tasted extraordinary. The service was exceptional (Thank you DJ, Gabe, & Chef Richie!). The service before the dinner was also exceptional - Mary Lou is so kind on the phone and lays out all the information for you so there are no questions. Aside from the food, I loved learning the family and home history from DJ and Chef Richie. I feel like everyone at 15 Fox Place is family - and I only met them last night. They were so welcoming, kind, and lovely!I already am planning to call Monday morning to book my next dinner! Thank you all for such a wonderful experience.
