Came with a big group and had a good experience but realize I didn't love the dishes. Meatballs - 4/5. Great tomato sauce. Chicory salad - 2.5/5. Boring and forgettable Margarita pizza - 3.5/5. Thin and decent Funghi pizza - 4/5. Good mushroom and cheesy flavor. Salsiccia pizza - 2/5. Absurdly olive heavy, I had to pick them out to eat it. But good if you're an olive lover. Orechette - 3.5/5. Solid, nice small kick Agnolotti - 3.5/5. Nice cheesiness, meat could have more flavor. Paccheri - 2.5/5. Capers and clams create a dominant flavor profile that didn't work for me.

A Mano is ALWAYS the perfect fix whether you're craving Italian or simply in Hayes Valley looking for a bite--they will hit home every single time. Such a cute date spot, family meal, work dinner, whatever it might be! Couldn't recommend it more!

Nestled in the heart of San Francisco, a Mano offers a delightful dining experience with a charming bar and comfortable main seating area. The thoughtful hospitality begins at the bar, where the staff's gesture of complimentary bread while waiting for a friend sets the tone for a warm and welcoming evening. The Focaccia bread, had flavor and perfect texture. It was a great appetizer. The Radiatori pizza emerges as a star on the menu, showcasing a harmonious blend of cream and mushroom flavors. Not too heavy-- it was delicious. Can't wait to have it again! The Burrata, accompanied by delectable mushrooms and perfectly toasted bread, is a testament to a Mano's commitment to quality ingredients and thoughtful presentation. The Margherita pizza was okay-- we went with it because previous reviews favor it over the Funghi pizza. The straightforward combination of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, and basil might not steal the spotlight, but it caters to those who appreciate the classics. The overall ambiance at a Mano, whether at the lively bar or in the main seating area, contributes to a pleasant dining experience. The attentive service and thoughtful gestures, such as complimentary bread, elevated the restaurant's charm for us!

I was pretty impressed by this Italian restaurant - cozy restaurant with food perfect for sharing. My friends and I decided to come for a post work dinner and had a great time. The staff started us off with complimentary focaccia which was sooooo delicious. We then decided to have the burrata to share. I really loved the flavor of the bread and mushrooms together - definitely something I'll be replicating at home. For mains we shared the margarita pizza and mushroom pasta. I liked the pasta the most - it had great flavors and so much cheesy goodness. The pizza was great as well but nothing too special (I did love the thin crust). The restaurant itself is quite cozy with lots of seating and the wait time is not too bad if you put yourself on the wait list on time. The staff was also very friendly and proactive with checking in on us.
Be the first to ReplyThe food and service here were amazing.
We had the most wonderfully attentive waiter. Every item he recommended was perfect. The cauliflower with chili and lemon is a must have. The arancini and meatballs were outstanding. Do not miss the bucatini all'amatriciana and the rigatoni agnello. Both were delicious.

I get really mad when my friends suggest we eat anywhere besides A Mano. I wish I could cook like this for myself at home.

When in Hayes Valley, this is a solid choice for Italian food. Great indoor/outdoor seating and attentive staff. The food portions are perfect size!
Be the first to ReplyParty of four light lunch on Friday.
We happened upon a Mano walking around the Hayes Valley district. All of us were just moderately hungry, but we wanted to enjoy the beautiful weather with a light lunch and a Mano was the perfect choice. It wasn't very busy and we were able to choose a seat in their outdoor dining section, which was very comfortable and well protected from traffic and pedestrian flow on the sidewalk. We opted to order a few items and share, which included the Chicken Polepettine (meatballs) and cauliflower from the antipasti portion of the menu and the mushroom pizza from the pizza portion of the menu. The server said the meatball appetizer portion was 3 meatballs, but they added a fourth so each of us could have one - they were perfectly cooked, tender, flavorful and served in a mildly spicy marinara sauce with 2 toast points. The cauliflower appetizer included roasted cauliflower with a mildly spicy lemon chili sauce that complimented the cauliflower perfectly. For the main, the mushroom pizza had a very thin crust with a lot of flavor from the mushrooms, shallots, sage crema, and garlic - a great combination of flavors. Lastly, we also had a small dog with us and the server brought him a bowl of water, which was a very nice additional level of service. Highly recommend this restaurant!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious hand made pasta.
The bucatini and rigatoni are recommended. The pasta texture is tender and chewy and the sauces are tasty and cover the pasta by the right amount. Also, don't leave without having the olive oil cake. The gelato and curd complement the cake perfectly.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here post-theater and had the nicest time.
Delicious food (pizzas, cauliflower with bagna cauda) at reasonable prices, tasty cocktails and lovely service. And the wait was zero minutes on a Saturday afternoon. Loved it, we'll definitely be coming back!
Be the first to ReplyLoved dining at a Mano for dinner and loved it even more
Loved dining at a Mano for dinner and loved it even more the second time. This time around, we got:- Margherita pizza 5/5 - can never go wrong with this. A perfect thin crust pizza with nicely presented buffalo mozz gallops and basil leaves. - Radiatori, chantrelle mushrooms, caramelized onion, pecorino 3/5 - not the biggest fan of white sauce. I thought this was a bit too light and plain. Enjoyed the mushrooms but just wish the dish had a bit more depth of flavor. - Rigatoni, Early Girl-Sweet 100 Cherry Tomato Pomodoro, Genovese Basil 5/5 - something about a Mano's red sauce...it's phenomenal. Rigatoni was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious dish. - Nutella Sundae 5/5 - the perfect dessert to end the evening. Cannot recommend this place enough!

My first foray into Hayes Valley restaurants was a huge success!! Met up with friends Saturday night to catch up and celebrate one of them moving to the city. We got there around 8:30pm and got a table outside, which was enclosed on three sides and had a heat lamp, so we were protected from the cold. The servers were a bit slow coming to take our order but once we got our order in, everything came out relatively fast. The prices were so surprising for SF, we felt like they could have added anywhere from $5-10 and nobody would have batted an eye. We started with the burrata and the local squid, cocktails, and a bottle of red that our server recommended. I was really impressed with the red, super smooth and not too heavy, and it was the cheapest bottle on the menu! Really good rec from our server, who was an absolute homie. I got the sbagliato cocktail, which was delicious as expected and the il fruttato was also really good, and I usually don't like drinks with bourbon. The burrata and mushrooms were divine with the crostini toast, which was toasted perfectly and wasn't crunchy to the point of ripping up the roof of your mouth. The squid was pretty interesting, it came with shishito peppers and beans. I probably wouldn't get this again but the squid was cooked well. For entrees, we got the kale pesto, cacio e pepe rigatoni, bucatini, and salsiccia pizza. My favorite thing I tried was the rigatoni, the sauce was creamy and the pasta was perfectly cooked to al dente. The pesto pasta was pretty good too, I liked the crunch of the pistachios on top. The pizza was thin crust, with great crisp, chew, and cheesiness. Overall, just a great dinner at affordable prices, good vibes, and wonderful company. Even saw our server out at the bars after and had to treat him to a drink :)

In the midst of a very crowded restaurant I sat down at the bar (only available seating) with no expectations. Waiting for my friend to arrive, I impatiently ordered a Negroni to hold me over. It was strong enough, but wasn't quite as balanced as others. Wasn't my favorite Negroni, but overall I was satisfied with the amount I received. I ordered the mushroom pizza which was rather good. Again not my favorite, but it was clear that this was a good restaurant, especially for the price. It was after this that my friend recommended we order italicus cocktails which were stellar. The bar tender was very good and the experience and service was good as well. I'd recommend this for a date spot, friend meet up, nothing fancier than that, but overall solid spot.

Might be hard getting a table for dinner or on the weekend, but my group got lucky for lunch. Solid food all around, but not food-gasmic. Great service, cocktails, and vibe.

Went here for lunch over the weekend and was a bit disappointed as I had higher expectations. I got the rigatoni bolognese. I found it to be quite dry and lacking salt. My friend felt the same with her pesto pasta dish. The flavor was seriously lacking. I probably enjoyed the appetizer the best, the Chicken Polpettine. I wonder if there pizza is any better?
Be the first to ReplyCame here on a Wednesday evening before 6pm.
There were plenty of open tables inside and outside, but it got much more crowded and noisy after 6. This restaurant is about a 15 minute walk from the Civic Center BART station. The menu has appetizers, salads, pizza, and pasta. There is also a drink menu with wine and cocktails. My table ordered white wine and the burrata and mushroom appetizer to share. I got the margherita pizza for myself. The burrata appetizer came with roasted bread. I love burrata so much! The bread's crunch, the burrata's creaminess, and the mushrooms' meaty texture all worked together really well.My margherita pizza arrived piping hot. The mozzarella added saltiness and the tomato sauce added acidity. Tasty and classic! I was only able to finish 3-4 slices, so I took the rest home.Shoutout to our waiter Joe (I think). Joe was really friendly and helpful.Solid meal and great experience!
Be the first to ReplyVery tasty and nice outdoor space to grab a leisurely lunch.
We went as a group for a mid-week meal without reservations and the staff was friendly and attentive. Would recommend going for the pastas and definitely try to mushroom burrata appetizer if it's on the menu.
Be the first to ReplyThe service was terrible.
I wish I got to try the food but my waiter forgot to put my order in, despite me being the only person outside and having me put my order in before the menu change at 3pm. We even made eye contact several times because I was sitting by the door. A different server came to close me out and when I asked her where my order was she said oh maybe they forgot, didn't go check, didn't offer a resolution, so I left after sitting for 1 hour. Off to find somewhere to eat
Be the first to ReplyWe've been a few times, and it never disappoints.
Excellent rotating pastas and delicious pizza. We usually get the margherita with prosciutto and it's excellent. Nice cocktail list as well.

3rd time here cuz the food is good, but probably never again - service is extremely slow especially during lunch.Ordered the $25 restaurant week menu and spent 90min+ for salad, pasta and panna cotta. Once we sat, waited a long time for our waiter to appear and restaurant was so busy that we couldn't really grab anyone to help. Got the beet salad afterwards, and then it's ridiculous wait time for pizza (not part of the $25 menu) and pasta. Later on also noticeably long wait for the panna cotta to appear. By the time we finished salad it's past 1pm so not the crazy hectic lunch hour, and after pizza and pasta it's already 2pm but still needed to wait for dessert. We came thinking it would be quick bites and ended up spending way too long for these dishes that aren't supposed to take super long. Anyways won't come again, it's just ridiculous how slow it is.
Be the first to ReplyWe had a super weird experience here yesterday evening.
Our server was very off-putting. Not friendly at all, next to no eye contact, and once we ordered our food, we pretty much never saw him again until he asked very half-heartedly if we were going to have dessert. We saw him smiling and chatting with people at other tables, but he was completely stone faced with us, and never once asked how we were doing or if everything was okay. I'm not really one to complain about service -- I know it's a tough job -- but his behavior was downright strange, and at a place like A Mano, we expected better. My wife was uncomfortable. Our guests were uncomfortable. We didn't even order desert because we just wanted to get out of there. We've been to A Mano before and were excited to show our guests how good the food was, but the entire meal was overshadowed by his behavior.
Be the first to ReplyVery solid 3.
5 stars and amazing location but we've now eaten here twice (once for lunch and again for dinner) and I probably wouldn't come again unless there wasn't a wait. The ambiance and design is perfect. It's definitely a place that looks the part in terms of a posh eatery. Right on Hayes in the middle of all the action, centrally located, close to Davies and all other performing arts spaces so good place for pre-show dinner. The dishes I've loved: rigatoni, salsiccia pizza, focaccia, salads (beet and radicchio), Nutella sundae Things we didn't love: pasta with clams, pesto pasta, crudo Service was fantastic at lunch and pretty bad at dinner. Had to go looking for our server twice and ended up ordering our entrees from a manager. Took a long time to order and get our checks. Food generally is hit or miss-sometimes it's just a matter of a little salt or maybe some acid to brighten up the flavors. Apart from the pizza and salads, nothing truly floored us or made me want to come back and try it again.

I was driving back from Tahoe, all I wanted was some pasta and pizza for my family, I called a mano to order the food to pick up, the man who answered the phone was horrible from the beginning, I don't know if he didn't know the menu or he was just lazy and rude, I just asked what are the three pastas that you offer to go, and he told me to check the menu after I told him I was driving, and he hang out the phone, I call back to speak to a manager and the same guy put me on hold and hang out on me again, I will never go back to this place again. If you don't want people to call you and just order online, you should give the option.I never write reviews but this time, they were so rude and unprofessional that made me very upset, you shouldn't never treat people like this.
