Ace Gillett's Lounge Fort Collins Reviews from The Last Year

the drinks were very good, i didn't really like the banana drink they offer because i didn't realize mezcal would be in it but i could tell if that is more your thing it's good, the food options are good and you can get plenty of stuff as tapas, and the indoor vibe is very nice with vintage decorations and older music requests

We loved having a guest in town to share this lovely spot with. Yummy food and tasty drinks. A little bit of a wait; but we were there for the company so didn't worry too much about the wait. A great vibe and friendly service.
Great music, perfect service, eclectic menu of good food.
What else do you want? Oh yeah--OPEN LATE!
This is a nice swanky kinda fancy lil prohibition type bar.
Been several years since Ive been in but it still looks pretty nice, just had a few normal boring beers & the music I heard was nice & upbeat. I did not order any food but the patron next to me ordered some beef stroganoff & it looked & smelled quite delectable so next time I return I will definitely be trying their chow so I can decide on that 5th star.
Great Anniversary!
We went for our 40th wedding anniversary. What a great place, awesome service Jocelyn! Very good food, wonderful atmosphere. Mark Sloniker played piano, very talented. I did not want to leave. Great big thanks for making a memorable evening.
Food is alright but Jesus Christ the service is awful.
Between checking in and paying the check took 2.5 hours. It's a good vibe but also a lazy entitled one.

This is my go to weekly spot! Their staff is incredible and I am obsessed with their burger. I always get the same drink which I am not sure is still on the menu, but it is called Put a Bird On It. Thanks for a great place!

Wanted to check this place out with my best friend this weekend while visiting Ft Collins, have a moms night out! We were greeted right away and they had us sit at the bar (next time will opt for a table). We checked out the menu for which drinks to try and ordered quickly. The bar tenders were busy all night, and we stayed til close! The staff were great! It didn't give a speak easy vibe but the drinks were fun! We tried 4 different specialty drinks and liked all pretty well. We definitely should have tried some appetizers too but it was a little pricy as it was for the drinks..maybe we will next time! I do recommend people come try this place out if in town!
In my last review, I mentioned the food was hit or miss.
Not sure if it was just one of those hit days or perhaps they changed chefs, but this time was absolutely perfect. Will consider 4 stars if they deliver again and show consistency.
Disappointed
My friends rave about this place. I had dinner here 6 months ago, burgers and fries, and they were good but nothing special. So I dropped in again for a dinner on Thursday evening to try something else. This time I ordered beef stroganoff, which was almost entirely topped with mushrooms and just a few tiny pieces of beef. The appetizer, cheese stuffed dates, came with 5 tiny dates for $12. The dates were delicious but overpriced. My friend said her salmon flatbread was ok. My other friend enjoyed her chicken dinner. Our server kept calling us dearie, which was not appreciated by us barely seniors. I won’t be back. There are much better restaurants in Fort Collins.

Walked in super excited to take some family out for a special/memorial dinner... seated in an awesome booth, atmosphere was super cool. Ordered drinks which took quite too long to arrive considering beer/wine/alcohol on the rocks - normal Thursday, not very busy. Supper Platter app was strangely small, very disappointing... We ordered 2x Steak and Lobster and 2x Beef Stroganoff. I don't even know what to say about it. The beef stroganoff was the worst I've ever "eaten". There were 2 pieces of beef in it...2. Same for the other dish. Like $25 macaroni and beef bouillon or something. Chef has obviously never had beef stroganoff. Sadly the wait staff did not seem concerned (mine was not hot either)...she offered more "sauce" and didn't acknowledge the lack of actual beef in a beef stroganoff. It was actually hard to believe. Steak and Lobster: beef was such an odd texture, poorly flavored. Questioning if it was even tenderloin. Lobster was obviously frozen, smelled fishy and was the size of a shrimp. It was so sad to see. Once we were 100% done eating and our glasses sat empty for a good 15 minutes or so, the waitress let us know the the chef insisted on sending out more meat - if you've had beef stroganoff - it's slow cooked. We obviously declined as we had finished already. Wait staff disappeared for a while, no drinks, no bill, embarrassing in fact. They did not say anything, just dropped the 2x beef stroganoff off of the bill. We left embarrassed at how bad something can be at that price point. It's too bad. Cool place to get cocktails. Don't eat their food, you will regret it as much as we do.

This was too fun! We met up with folks at 8:30pm on a Saturday night. Seating is first come, first served, no reservations. We were guided to a booth. There are many options for seating from tables, to booths, to comfy couches in nooks throughout the place. There was a DJ spinning vinyl, we requested several from the collection and enjoyed the music. We had hear tell of the beverages so those were our next order of business. Two ordered The Roof is on Fire, a mixture of Ace's Old Elk Bourbon, demerara, angostura and flaming rosemary. Yes, I said flaming. They swirled the rosemary stalk (a sprig would be a disservice to this cutting) in 151 rum balanced it across the glass and set it on fire. It burned blue out to the ends and went out leaving a pleasant smoked rosemary scent behind. One ordered Intro to Shochu which consisted of shochu, rosé syrup, lime, plum bitters, mint and soda. She said it was delicious and deceptive because she could not taste the alcohol. I enjoy the descriptions of mixed drinks, but i rarely order them so I got a glass of Cab Franc. We ordered the Devils on Horsetooth for the table to share. This would be a must do. It was a wonderful, warm combination of cream cheese stuffed dates wrapped in bacon on a bed of jalapeno caramel with a pickled jalapeno on each date. We were meeting for a late supper. What else do you do at a supper club? Two ordered the Beef Stroganoff, a creamy mixture of onion, mushroom and beef tenderloin tips served tossed with pappardelle pasta. They both thoroughly enjoyed the dish. One ordered the Herbed Roasted Half Chicken that had honey fig sauce, roasted turnips and Manchego mashed potatoes. She was happy with her choice. I have learned that the first thing that catches my eye on the menu is usually what I end up choosing. I felt like having a snack type meal. I ordered the Supper Club Tray which consisted of a slice of brie with jam, crackers, salami, 2 deviled eggs, olives, a little dish of hummus with some veggies and their house pickled peppers and mushrooms. My dining companions had the pickled veg due to my mushroom allergy and said they were delicious. I nibbled on my treats and sipped my wine. Overall a great experience with the atmosphere, music, service, food and drink.

Great for drinks and dinner! We visited Ace Gillett's on a Friday night and were seated right away. I loved the speakeasy vibe of the restaurant, with the barely marked stairway leading down the entrance. The interior was dimly lit with cool prohibition-themed decor. I especially loved the neon signage and disco balls in one of the private seating areas. For drinks, I chose the Ruby Soho, which was refreshing and tasty. My sister initially wanted the Color Me Kiwi but they were out of maraschino, so she got the Intro to Shochu instead. This one was also pretty good, but we liked the Ruby Soho better. For food, we got a few starters to share - the Dynamite Tots, Tuna Nachos, and Crab Cakes. All three were fantastic and plenty of food for two people. We did have the mixup of getting served the Dynamite Tots with bacon although we had ordered it without, but thankfully we caught it. Overall though, a tasty dinner with a cool ambiance!
Very cool atmosphere.
The Lounge is downstairs. There's the lounge room and a library room. Nice decor -- reminds you of the Prohibtion era. Cocktails are delicious. Would definitely come back for drinks and appetizers again!
Beautiful speakeasy vibe.
The interior is classy and so well thought out. We stopped in on a Saturday evening at 6p before a show in mishawaka. Was sooo glad the hubby came across this place! Our server, Meg, was absolutely lovely. We started off with some unique drinks. My cheddar infused gin cocktail was crisp with delicate flavor. My hubby's banana drink felt like a party in your mouth lol. We then opted for the charcuterie board. Not much meat or cheese variety but the accomplishments made it quite special. We also had tuna nachos and shrimp cocktail. Exquisite. My fave dish however was the risotto! The crisp garlic and parmesan really added new dimensions and depth of flavor. I was truly impressed. Prices were reasonable too. Can't wait to come back and enjoy their live music!
Pleasant dinner.
We had a pleasant surf and turf with two tiny potato croquettes. The dressed greens which accompanied the dish was lettuce strangely. Very limited menu.
