Expensive and unappetizing
The food was not good especially for the price. We sat down at 12:30pm and were told they are only serving dinner menu. It was noon, please. The chicken katsu was the worst I ever had. Our bill was outrageous I couldn’t believe my eyes. Save your money not worth it.

Excellent service and all six of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. We plan on trying the grill on our next visit.
Be the first to ReplyThis Place is Awful!
I have eaten here many times and as recently as a few weeks ago. I have always told them in advance I have a mushroom allergy and they make a small bowl of veggies with no mushrooms. We’ll, apparently not anymore. They will NOT accommodate allergies here. Stay clear away from this crappy place.

I honestly want to thank my dogs for leaving food in the dog bowl for me for when I got home. We honestly had the worst meal ever. The steak was dry, the fried rice tasted like kibble and bits, and the shrimp seemed microwaved. The teriyaki sauce was also really bad. The worst $90 meal ever!! Never again. This can be one of the worst restaurants in AZ and way over priced. I hope the owner reads this and feels bad for ruining my date night!

The food is good and the portions are reasonable. But the prices are high for what you get. We were seated outside at a rickety table but the service was quick. My SHRIMP BOWL was good but it cost twice as much as a similar dish at a take-away for the privilege of sitting at an unstable table. My wife’s filet and chicken were good but the soup was off-putting and strange. They charged too much for a mug of hot tea. It’s very very noisy inside. Recommended with reservations.

I ordered food on Uber eats. The driver called me from the restaurant, stating they did not know what was ordered. We ordered the vegetable dinner and mixed tempura. The staff got on the phone and wanted to know what vegetables was. I told them I ordered from their menu on the app, they seemed to not know what menu items they had. The order arrived promptly. There were no utensils or sauce for the tempura. No soy sauce etc. There was no salad or soup with the vegetable dinner, only vegetables in rice in a styrofoam box. The food appeared to be old and mushy. The tempura was mushy and did not appear to be thoroughly cooked. Will not order food again. Do not recommend this restaurant.

Huge place. Asked if we wanted to dine or eat at the grill. We sat at a table, which was right next to the grill, and left smelling like the grill.
Food was just ok. I got the teriyaki steak and the meat was pretty chewy. The food wasn’t served very hot so majority of the dish was cold quickly.
Simply Delicious
Our first visit here. Glad we went. Seated immediately. Friendly staff. Clean. Varied menu. When served, everything was hot and delicious. Generous portions. High ball wasn't "watered down".

I ordered the Red Dragon roll for lunch on a quick stop at Happy Valley. It’s delicious, the service is great and I’ll be coming again!

Service was pretty bad. Host had no smile and was not welcoming. Server came over and asked what we would like, we told her, she then asked us to write it on the sushi paper, and walked away. We looked all through the paper and what we wanted to order wasn’t even on it. So we just hand write it on the bottom. When she came back we told her it wasn’t on there and she says “you can just hand write it on there, or tell me”. Yet we had already told her earlier... brilliant.
Anyway, ordered two rolls, the first one was delicious and the second one was extremely bland and boring. We decided to not give them more money and will go eat elsewhere in a few hours.
Delicious food, friendly staff. A neighborhood gem!
I love coming here for some shumai, edemame and specialty rolls. My family loves to come here too. It's kid friendly. Food is good, service is too. I like the healthy options Ah-so offers. And they have a full bar with several TVs, so you can make it a relaxing evening too. Very happy they are at The Shops at Norterra!

We had dinner around 6:00pm in the evening when it was not overcrowded; the music was loud and echoed in the open ceiling. My husband asked for a Japanese beer by name but no one thought to ask the two Japanese chefs which beer it was! The food was average - sushi was a little dry and one dish described as "fiery" was lacking in flavor! The table top pattern has been etched into the material with the result that the tables cannot be properly cleaned and they are sticky! It would need to be cleaned with a toothbrush to get into all the corners - not ideal for a restaurant where tables should be continuously wiped clean. Have definitely been in better places and they need to sharpen up to compete with the many other eating areas in this complex
