🙂 4/5 - We were looking to celebrate our anniversary and we were

We were looking to celebrate our anniversary and we were thinking we wanted some high-end sushi, so a little research pointed us in the direction of Akira Back.We showed up right on time for our 7:00 reservation and were shown to a nice table in the middle of the restaurant. I was immediately impressed by the dimly-lit, artfully-designed dining room.(I wasn't quite as impressed by the calibre of the other patrons, though. It felt like we were surrounded by dolled-up influencers and obnoxious businessmen. The food was excellent, yes, but the place seems to be catering to the wrong type of crowd.)We decided to share a few different things. From the Cold Share side of the menu, we got White Fish Carpaccio ("gooseberry / nanbanzu") and Hokkaido Scallop Kiwi ("onion salsa / truffle paste / yuzu soy"). Both of these dishes are excellent. The Hokkaido Scallop Kiwi is especially mind-blowing, as it's full of flavor and somehow manages to incorporate kiwi into a scallop dish. It's really terrific. Our only pick from the Hot Share section was the AB Wagyu Tacos ("bulgogi sauce / tomato ponzu") and holy moly did I enjoy the heck out of these. The very tasty ground beef was enhanced by the bulgogi sauce and tomato ponzu, and honestly I could've eaten about a dozen of these things. Finally, we decided to order a couple of rolls from the Akira's Signature Rolls section: Hot Mess ("sashimi poke / screaming o' sauce") and Show Me the Roll ("shrimp tempura / salmon belly aburi / chipotle sauce"). I really enjoyed both of these rolls. They had traditional elements but also felt completely original and innovative, which I definitely appreciated. Really top-notch stuff.(I do want to note that all of our dishes were brought out super quickly, to the point where we were finished eating less than a half hour after we ordered. It felt very off-putting, and I couldn't help but wonder if we were being rushed so they could turn over the table.)We closed out the meal with the Chocolate in a Cup ("nutella chocolate cake / vanilla ice cream / banana foam") and this turned out to be the weakest part of the meal. The chocolate cake was unevenly heated, as though it had been microwaved, and the icy, far-from-smooth ice cream was too firm to really enjoy. Honestly, this tasted like something a young child would make for you at home. All in all, I did enjoy my meal at Akira Back, but considering we spent well over $200, I do wish that certain things had been improved. (Again, why was our food rushed out to us?)
