Efficient takeaway. Delicious even once back at hotel
Needed some food after long day at film festival. Caprese salad & pesto pasta penned. Very tasty. Both packed properly for take out. Very nice staff provided water. But I barely had to wait. Highly recommend

Be prepared for dramatic flavors and exceptional service. QUATTRO FORMAGIO con FUNGHI with an Italian Barolla (Cascina Adelante)... Breath taking flavors... Italians would be jealous. Subtle flavors evolve with each bite. Veal Picatta, lemon forward, garlic perfect! Pasta tastes home made. If you love exceptinal Italian, breath taking wine and exceptional service, this is the place

Good and warm welcome with garlic bread. Very extensive menu and good quality food. We had pasta carbonara and pasta arrabiata. Highly recommended!
Be the first to ReplyCramped seating. Poor customer service. Avoid this place.
Extremely poor customer service from the waiter (taller bald gentleman, who appeared to be one of the two main waiters). Tables are extremely cramped together as we sat outside. Our next table kept on hitting our table because we were so close together. The patron constantly used inappropriate language and the staff did nothing to address it. When we asked to change tables. We were told that because we were walk ins, they couldnโt change our table. There were 4-6 tables that were vacant for about 60 minutes. We should have walked out due to poor service.

First time eating here (first time in Palm Springs). Make a reservation. Plan ahead a few weeks. Service was impeccable. Very attentive without being intrusive. I tried a couple of things I wouldn't normally try. Liked one, not the other. That's just me. Nothing against Al Dente. I had the balsamic chicken which was fantastic. Wife had Chicken Limone which was also good. They put bread and bruschetta on the table. Really good. Just a good all around place. Lots of restaurants to try in Palm Springs. This should be on your list.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting Experience at Al Dente
Interesting experience at Al Dente. Weโve looked forward to trying Al Dente for awhile and made reservations a week prior. We arrived just a bit early and were told our table wasnโt quite ready but we could be seated immediately at an empty corner table which appeared satisfactory. Soon after being seated and getting our drinks we began to notice an unpleasant odor- a sewer smell. Weโre generally not complainers and we put up with it. Our meals were good- not stupendous but good and the service was terrific. After dinner we wanted dessert so we asked if we could move to the bar. Our server was very accommodating and asked if it was because of the smell. Yes, of course! He provided some explanation and we went on to enjoy our dessert stench free and the manager ended up comping us two glasses of wine. Thank you! However my question is if you know the corner table stinks, why do you seat people there??
Be the first to ReplySurprisingly Good Italian Fare in the Heart of Palm Springs
We had never eaten here, although this restaurant has been around forever in the heart of the tourist area of downtown Palm Springs. We probably had written it off in the past due to its location. It was a winter night so everybody was dining inside in what is a small intimate space which had a certain charm. It was a tad chilly on this cold night. There appears to be a small front patio with heaters too. There is a small bar to sit at as well. The host who greeted us was very gracious and checked back on us frequently. The staff was attentive and friendly. They were always present. The menu is very large. It took a while for us to find out that there was a whole second page of entrees we had missed. The desserts were a full page too. This is straight forward classic Italian dishes but with three nightly specials added in. I had the special sautรฉed Mahi Mahi with potatoes and spinach which was excellent. Others enjoyed their pastas. It was nice to find a bar that could make a real Manhattan cocktail (how can something so simple be a lost art in so many Palm Springs establishments). The dinners before tip came out to about $ 60 per person. We would easily return here for dinner.
Be the first to ReplyInside Restaurant VERY COLD
Had dinner inside this restaurant in November; two outside doors were kept open all the time; inside had no gas-heaters like the outside did! It was very COLD inside; uncomfortable. Food was average in quality. Desert was poor. Will not go back.

I really don't understand the poor reviews for this place. I grew up with authentic Italian food in New York, and I've also eaten in good Italian restaurants Paris, and San Francisco, and several cities in Italy itself, and I found our meals here delicious.
Be the first to ReplyItalian restaurant with charm
Dined here on a Sunday evening. Enjoyed the quiet outside area. Waiter was beyond pleasant and attentive. Food was plentiful and quite tasty. Would definitely return if we were in the area again.

As we would be dining on a Friday night we made a reservation a couple of days in advance using Open Table for an outside table at 7:15pm. We showed up a minute or two early and were advised we would have to wait for about 45 minutes. I mentioned that we had a reservation for 7:15 and that we had requested an outside table. The hostess again said we would have to wait 45 minutes and explained others had shown up before us and also requested outside dining. When we pointed out that there was an outside table for two that was not occupied she advised that it was for someone else who had arrived before us. I asked her what was the point of taking reservations if they obviously had no intention of honouring them to which I did not receive a reply. The owner or manager was standing right beside the hostess during our conversation and he did not interject at any point. Needless to say we left and found somewhere else to have dinner. Will not even try to eat there again.
Be the first to ReplyGood "local" Italian restaurant
Enjoyed our meals and service was great! Highly recommend this restaurant. As we were from out of town on vacation, we wanted a different theme for dinner every night. This was "Italian Night" and the food was fresh and plentiful.

Have gone to Al Dente for many years and have enjoyed the food, ambience and food ambience until the last two visits. The food quality, temperature (tepid - not hot like it should be) has diminished including time to receive our meals. The pre-meal bread was not stale but it was like it had been sitting on the counter for some time getting a firm texture that bread gets when left out. The quality of pasta sauces were only on par with that of a bottled sauce from the local grocer and the server appeared less than thrilled to be there. I called the owner the next day wondering what had happened to this wonderful place it used to be. I thought maybe a new owner had taken over. She assured me there was no new owner and she had owned the restaurant for a number of years. Itโs one thing to pay high prices for one of the cheapest food products you can buy - pasta! It's another to pay these high prices and then leave disappointed like we did. In fairness to the Owner, she did offer to have us back to the restaurant to make good but my friend was returning home two days later and we were unable to fit it in. That said, I'd feel awkward coming back on a "freebie" and it begs the question why someone would go back to possibly have the same experience - free or not? But, twice in a row the experience has been underwhelming so I donโt think I will take the chance again only to have another "average" meal or embarrass myself because of my ill-advise recommendation to my friends. Sorry!
