Alice was a good find.
No resurvation so we sat at bar. We prefer the bar. The dining room is nice but the bar has a great vibe. We did not see the back room due to a private party. Pro top: Sit at the far right near the fresh herbs and the speaker Overall: A sensual environment with plants and architectural elements to keep it fresh and immersive Food was good. I wanted the Clam Linguini to have more clam flavor. But it was good.
Be the first to ReplyGreat food definitely would recommend the pasta.
Quick and responsive service, perfect for a quick lunch or dinner with friends. Will be coming back for seconds!

My group from out of town was completely ignored all evening, had to flag staff for refills and orders. That wasn't the case for the tables around us. Food was fine, but being ignored on a special night out sucked. Slow and inattentive service. Big bummer.
Be the first to ReplyHad dinner at Alice last night - in a city of great Italian
Had dinner at Alice last night - in a city of great Italian food, this one is....mediocre. The experience started off rocky - had a reservation for two, and hostess tried to seat us in the enclosed patio area. We declined and asked for seating in the larger back area (behind the bar), but we were told there were no two tops in that area (that turned out to be untrue) - so had to take a table next to hostess stand. Service was a bit slow - but eventually drink orders were taken (they did not have either a sparkling rose or regular rose by the glass - apparently all out). We had the smoked scamorza and carciofa tortina to start - I liked the concept, but the smoked scamorza flavor overwhelmed any flavor of artichoke- so this was a miss. My wife ordered the Bucatini Limone and I had the Agnolotti Cacio e Pepe. The Bucatini suffered from too much colatura and not enough lemon - no balance in this dish. The Agnolotti were very good. Overall - other than the agnolotti, the other dishes either were not prepared properly or were ill-conceived from a flavor perspective. The ambiance was nice, although I would avoid being by the hostess stand (and on that note, despite what the hostess told us, two separate couples were seated soon after us in the area behind the bar - so there are two tops in this location - I think she was paying us back for rejecting the patio area). All in all - not terrible, but at this price point there are so many other better choices in this great city.
Be the first to ReplyGood option for Italian cuisine.
Pasta is and service is fairly good. Waiters were nice.

With a reservation and plenty of tables available, was seated alone outside on the porch, ignored. Left after 15 minutes. Snooty, unprofessional.
Be the first to ReplyFirst of, the most important aspect- food.
The spaghetti pomodoro is special and then some. The server was able to steer us towards a wine that fit the mood which was further lifted by the tasteful ambience. Great date night spot overall!
Be the first to ReplyAlice is such a gem.
I went here after attending a performance at the new school. The decor is tasteful and fun. The food is delicious. I got the fish baked in salt. Service was great as well. Can't wait to be back,
Be the first to ReplyThere were rats @ the establishment 1/11.
Yes rats plural. The staff was shockingly extremely calm about the situation and asked if we wanted to continue eating further up in the restaurant. The staff were too focused on what to charge us for vs acknowledging there was an issue and comping the meal. No communication came from the owner or manager. I will never come back here again. This experience was appalling and disgusting

Visited Alice Restaurant in NYC and was thoroughly impressed! This Italian gem offers a stunning array of cocktails, each more delightful than the last. The real star, however, is the food - a delightful culinary journey with every dish outshining the previous. What truly sets Alice apart is their exceptional customer service. Attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable staff made our dining experience unforgettable. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine paired with exquisite drinks. A must-visit for food enthusiasts and cocktail lovers alike!
Be the first to ReplyGo for the ambiance, stay for the food.
I had the cacio e pepe agnolotti and it was divine. My partner had the halibut and also loved it. We sat on the heated outdoor patio which is basically not outdoors at all, so you don't need to worry about the elements. The patio has fireplace-style heaters and cute little platform areas for the tables that, while precarious to step onto, make you feel like you are in a private little alcove.Inside, the ambiance is vibrant, loud, and bustling. If you want a really energetic vibe, sit inside! If you want a quieter, cozy vibe, opt for the patio.
Be the first to ReplyI came here to celebrate my friend's birthday.
The place is cozy, perfect for both group dining and date night. We ordered a lot of the recommended items from the menu, including the infamous not on the menu special homemade pappardelle with king crab and black truffles. We also ordered a bottle of Sancerre and Sauvignon Blanc. They even accommodated my friend with a gluten allergy by making her gluten-free pasta with king crab and black truffles. Service was amazing. The food was great. For appetizers, we shared the oysters, burrata, and frito misto. All five of us ordered our homemade pasta with king crab and black truffles. The entree paired with the Sancerre was the highlight of the dining experience. For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu, Panna Cotta and the chocolate bar to celebrate my friend's birthday. I'd definitely return to try their cocktails.
Be the first to ReplyI didn't just love this restaurant.
I cannot wait to go back. First of all, it's absolutely beautiful inside. One of the most romantic restaurants I've been to in years. It's also very convenient, just east of the F train at 14th, so for uptown people who don't like leaving their hoods, it's an easy sell. The servers are gorgeous (ours was really something, right out of an Italian film). 1. The drinks are not tiny. Trendy downtown places with high-end food tend to give you thimble-sized martinis. Not Alice. They also have Tanqueray 10, which automatically earns points. I am so sick of the gin discrimination in this city. Those of us who love and care about gin don't want Tanqueray (regular) or Sapphire. The gin industry has absolutely exploded but restaurants haven't caught up. I will drink Hendricks in a pinch but it's boring. 2. The vegetables are as fresh as any in the city. Apparently the chef or his staff go to the farmer's markets daily and the salad, though just an assortment of lettuce and candy cane radishes /beets, was heaven. I don't know how just lettuce can be special , but at Alice it is. 3. Pasta: TO DIE FOR. My friend and I were deciding between a few. We let the swoon server choose for us: bucatini with "garnum" (I think), some residue of a fish. I will be dreaming of this pasta till the next time I go.4. Charred Broccoli rabe with garlic was large and perfect to share. 5. The crudo is the signature of this seafood and pasta restaurant and some of the pastas include seafood (not just clams: there was an innovative special with crab as well as a lobster orchiette). The crudo I'm sure is exquisite but it's killingly expensive and if you're on a budget, you can get really good sushi at Roy's Fish Market (a lot of it) for the price of one order. 6. BEST TIRAMISU ever had. They brought for my birthday. I like runny/soft tiramisu, so it's more like pudding than cake. Well I didn't know that was my preference until eating this divine concoction. In fact, when we dove into it, we didn't know it was tiramisu. If you stick to pasta and appetizers, Alice is really reasonably priced: one pasta, large side vegetable, one salad, and two martinis came to $140 before tip.

Delicious food served in a cozy but private feeling setting for dinner. Staff was very friendly and attentive, they offer coat check and free bread with the meal. I got the agnolotti cacio e pepe and the viva amor, pictured below (poor quality photo), but both were delicious and very filling.

Came here for restaurant week and had a great experience! Salmon had a crispy skin top and truffle pasta (I think cacio e Pepe ravioli) had a generous amount of shaved truffle on top. Oysters were great- we loved the sauces that accompanied them. Ambiance was cool, a unique Alice in wonderland concept which we didn't realize until we got there. We sat inside, but walked past the outdoor covered patio area which had a couple seats and heat lamps for the winter. Hardly felt like you were outside at all! Would definitely come back to sit outside.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is nice, and service is alright,But ultimately
The ambiance is nice, and service is alright,But ultimately the food and cocktails are overpriced for what they are.Whenever I see octopus on the menu, I will order it. This one was far too chewy. The Fritto Misto was also underwhelming. Not much to say; just wouldn't recommend.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the restaurant and food, but only leaving this review
Loved the restaurant and food, but only leaving this review because we loved our waiter so much. We had the linguine and clams. And our waiter Fahim (I'm not sure how to spell it - he had a Scottish accent). Great vibe and experience. Thanks Fahim
Be the first to ReplyI really liked the ambiance inside Alice.
On a Saturday for brunch it was not crowded, I think people should know about this place! It's beautiful inside, they had live music, although I wish it was more jazzy chill vibes because at times it felt super loud. The menu has great cocktails and food selections for brunch. I tried espresso martini, which was really good. The ricotta toast promised to be great, but I have to say it was not my favorite. I had pancakes that were good, although a bit crumbly. It looked like they were on whole wheat flour. The food was good, but again not my favorite. I would love to come back for pasta though
Be the first to ReplyFirst, I've never written a review for any
First, I've never written a review for any restaurant--Good, or bad.I'll start with the good. The vibe in Alice is fabulous! Every corner you look, it's just cozy and warm. The food, I found to be very yummy. As a party of four, we got 3 Appetizers--the burrata, salad and the fritto misto. All very good. We all got an entree and we all LOVED our meal--seriously loved our meal! Our waiter was very kind, and the staff was attentive, pouring our wine and refilling our water glasses promptly.Unfortunately, the bad. We got to the restaurant on time for a 7PM reservation. A hostess told another, bring them to table 7. For some reason, she didn't bring us. In that time, 2 other couples walk in and they were immediately seated. Another group waiting to get their checked jackets were assisted before us. There isn't a waiting area, so we are in the way and standing on top of people while they are having dinner. Finally, we are seated. We get the menu and wine menu. After a bit the waiter comes back to take our wine choice. Few minutes later, he comes back to say they don't have it. He gives us back the wine list and says he will be back. We said no, we'll order it now. We give him 2 choices at that point. Our second choice, they didn't have. The third, and most expensive, they had. OK, fine. After getting our wine, he takes our app order. Easy peasy, we get our apps in an appropriate amount of time and they are wonderful! Next we are waiting for our Entrees...and waiting...and waiting. I was facing the direction they came out of the kitchen and kept thinking, these MUST be ours. The table next to us, who sat down after us (just a couple, not a table of four) got their meals (they had app, too) before us and were finished before we got ours. Finally, get our dinner, and they were ALL Delicious. The waiter then bring dessert menu, leaves and comes back after 5 minutes. I didn't want anything from the dessert menu, but did want another glass of wine while my friends got their dessert, port and amari. He comes back with the main menu and says, we only have the table for 15 more minutes. Shocked because he NEVER mentioned when we were seated that there was a time limit. AND the fact there were multiple delays on our time by the restaurant. Also, when we ordered dessert they didn't the tea my friend wanted, nor the dessert she wanted. We get our drinks and at 9:02 the hostess comes to our table, kind of annoyed, and says--sorry ladies but we need this table, but I will let you finish your drinks. NEVER has this ever happened. So, I am giving Alice 3 stars. We loved the food and ambience, but wow, we payed for their timing delays
Be the first to ReplyAlice was recommended to us as one of the top Italian
Alice was recommended to us as one of the top Italian restaurants in the city. In every way Alice was magnificent. There were 6 of us and as we all walked in, everywhere I looked there was a sense of coziness, professionalism and knew this was going to be a great culinary experience. Our waiter, Antonio, was fantastic from the start, explaining in detail what to expect and let us know that he would leave the wine selection to the Sommelier when we told him our first preference was going to be white wine from the volcanic region of Sicily. Without fail he picked out an amazing wine that had flavors we never experienced. The bread was served and wine poured and then came the explanation of their special homemade pastas. Will get to this later. The salads are served fresh from whatever they pick at the farmers market that day and my wife and I split that. So fresh and crispy with a light dressing. The table ordered two orders of the Black Sea Bass Crudo. The fish was so fresh and not overpowered by the citrus flavors some places serve. Best I ever had. The sommelier recommended our next selection of wine to be a medium body red that would drink well with pasta and seafood, and he was right on the money with a great bottle of Schioppettino. Which we never heard of but it was mildly earthy and lmedium bodied which went well with the main courses we were about to experience. The highlight was the Pappardelle Pasta with King Crab and Black Truffle. This was the special of the night which 3 of us had ordered. I never tasted such a combination of flavors with this delicate fluffy pasta. It's tough enough to find a King Crab pasta dish let alone it being served with black truffle. The Orecchiette Pasta with lobster and Burrata was incredible which my wife had ordered. All the Pasta dishes served were homemade and cooked to perfection. Alice also offers an amazing salt cured Bronzino served table side , but we all chose these amazing homemade pasta dishes because we did not want to miss out on what would be hard to experience in any other Italian restaurant. The wine selections, the incredible flavors of these dishes with impeccable service, we all agreed gave us a memorable experience. The ambiance was romantic, soft and cozy and very hard to describe unless you experience it yourself. They have a small cozy bar that serves food as well and I would pop in to give this a try. See you again soon Alice!!!
Be the first to ReplyI recently had dinner at Alice Restaurant and found several
I recently had dinner at Alice Restaurant and found several of the menu items vaguely familiar. I later realized that the restaurant was from the same team behind Osteria 57, another Italian seafood spot I had been to recently and both of which offered delicious experiences. What also seemed familiar was the enclosed patio entrance and multi-room dining area. I realized I had been there previously when it used to be Gradisca. The space had been revamped from a more generic Italian restaurant to one that had more of a modern, stylish vibe. Funky lamps, dim lighting, and walls draped with garlands of leaves made for a seductive atmosphere. When it came to the beverages, I started with the Spirit Bird cocktail, which included basil-infused tequila, pineapple puree, lime, agave, and bitters. While I enjoyed the drink, I think it could have used more of a kick, perhaps adding some chili flakes for spice or using mezcal for smoke; it just needed something more. On the other hand, a glass of 2018 Vie Di Romans "Dolee" Friulano, DOC from Friuli Venezia Giulia was light and refreshing. For the food, my companion and I shared a bunch of items from across the menu, starting with the Burrata and Octopus appetizers. The burrata had the perfect hint of salt, a slightly thick rind, and a gooey center. The melt-in-your-mouth cheese was served with roasted, red bell peppers and Sicilian anchovies for an added pop. Thin, bland flatbreads were also included to act as vehicles for the cheese, though I preferred to use the soft, fluffy focaccia from the table's bread basket instead. The lone octopus tentacle had been roasted until tender. Leeks, radishes, and roasted onions added some zest and acted like a warm salad beneath the octopus. We then proceeded to the pasta section of the menu. The Linguine came with a white clam sauce made from Manila clams, garlic, and chili pepper. The handmade potato Gnocchi were tossed with fresh porcini mushrooms and 24 month-aged Parmigiano Reggiano in a creamy fungi broth. Both noodle dishes were enveloping, homestyle, and really transported us to Italy. Next came a single entrée - the Halibut, which was exquisite! The fresh and perfectly cooked filet was served over a salad of celery root, apples, and radicchio. It might have been considered less "Italian", but its light and comforting nature confirmed the dish belonged on the menu of such a cozy restaurant.Lastly, we managed to fit in a bit of dessert and opted for both the Plant-Based Chocolate Mousse and the Tiramisu. The creamy mousse was served on an almond crust and was topped with a thing layer of raspberry gelee. The fruit and chocolate combination was great. The Tiramisu was a bit creamier than I would have liked, but was generally tasty.Throughout the meal, our service was stellar, and the chef even humored us by stopping by our table so that we could sing his praises. From our gracious hosts to the romantic décor to the handcrafted cuisine, Alice provided an excellent dining adventure.

If you're looking for a vibe, Alice is the place to go and I would suggest going in the back versus the front. Definitely more lively, especially better decor as well. It's more of a modern Italian spot, pretty good food, great ambiance, service was great but definitely too pricey for what it's worth. Tiramisu was REALLY good too. What I ordered:- BURRATA: Roasted bell peppers, Sicilian anchovies- TOMINO: Piedmont grilled cheese, roasted mushrooms, beets, fresh herbs- OCTOPUS: Portugese octopus, leeks, radishes, roasted onions- AGNOLOTTI CACIO E PEPE: Handmade ravioli with Grand Cru Pecorino, fresh black pepper (must get!!) - BRUSSELS SPROUTS: spicy honey vinegar dressing- TIRAMISU

Came here because it was recommended to us as a unique and cool dining experience, and it friggin blew my MIND. Probably one of the best meals I've had in my whole life.Although we came later than our reservation time, they took us in and sat us inside. The vibe is super chill and very speakeasy-like(?) lol.The waiter was super friendly and helpful and went into great detail on the specials and what he would recommend we get.We got a couple drinks, the octopus appetizer, the burrata pasta, the sea bass, and some cake and sorbet for dessert. The octopus was phenomenal. Slightly charred, smoky, tender, nice chew/mouthfeel. It went so well with the sauce, radishes and greens in the dish, adding layers of texture and flavor to the dish. Absolutely delicious--I would have definitely licked the plate clean if no one was watching LMAO.The pasta was also amazing. The acidity of the tomatoes in the sauce complemented the creamy burrata and thick, tender chunks of lobster in the dish. The pasta was nice and thick and cooked perfectly. The sea bass was pretty good too, not the star of the show, but thick and nicely cooked and seasoned. I didn't particularly enjoy the kelp/seaweed that was on the dish though.. a little too bitter of a taste. We got the cake and sorbet combination as suggested by the waiter and it was honestly a great choice-the two complimented each other well. The cake was dense yet light, and the tart jelly blended nicely with the sweet and tangy lemon sorbet. The drinks were also bomb, personally, my favorite was the viva amor. It tasted so refreshing and every sip came with a whiff of the blossoms. Truly a delight :)I would 1000% come back here.

Went here with my boyfriend for our Restaurant Week/Valentines Day dinner and EVERYTHING WAS SO GOOD. We started with oysters and calamari for appetizers, got the clam linguine vongole and king crab truffle pasta for entrees, and both got a white cake for dessert. Yum yum yum. The service was great, and we absolutely loved the decor. Definitely ask them to sit you in the back - just walking through the restaurant to get there is an experience!
