They carry a big menu and I had some other leftovers so I was very careful with my choice of the dish. And I am glad I did my homework, I got the 成都冒鸭, first of all, it's a very big portion besides the duck, there's tofu skin, duck blood curd, mushrooms, lotus roots etc. And secondly for those who loves Sichuan cuisine but can't handle too much of spicy, it's only mildly spicy. Last but not least, fair price. Definitely going back to try other dishes. :)
Be the first to ReplyWe ordered the usual suspects.
Mapo tofu, dan dan noodle, and crab and pork xialong bao. (It is not sichuan but oh well) This place looked relatively modern compared to most other chinese places in flushing. Mapo was the best although i wished it had more numbing effect. Not too overly spicy and generous portion. Dan dan noodle the sauce was good but the noodle was a miss as it was waaayy overcooked. Xlb was absolutely terrible. The wrapping was too thick and there was no juice and the worst part was that the fillings were really sweat! Why would this pork and crab filling of xlb be sweet??? Terrible!Service was so so. We asked for a bowl of rice multiple times and we finally got it when we were half way done with our insanely spicy mapo tofu.Def would not be coming back.

Authentic down home Szechuan food without the frills away from the hustle and bustle of Main St. Good for a weeknight dinner!

I barely eat sichuan food because sometimes I don't enjoy eating all spicy food. My sister in law picked this place so we gave it a try. The place looks cozy and interior was nice. The only thing I didn't really like was their bathroom because it stink. For appetizer we ordered sesame cold noodle with slice pork belly in garlic sauce. Top notch food we ordered for the night. The sauce is so flavorful that it just taste so good. Gotta mix this dish properly to achieved that taste you want for this dish because the pork belly will be tasteless without the sauce. Beef trip with fresh peppers, this dish is less of my favorite. The sauce taste like a soysauce and the tripe looks like a boiled tripe so I don't recommend this dish. Mapo tofu, minced pork with soft tofu. Its an spicy dish with soft tofu and pork with a flavorful sauce. Yum! I ordered this dish in a taiwanese restaurant too and its just delicious. So good with rice. I really like the food and service was good! sometimes they can be a little slow because they can get so busy but overall it was a great experienced.

Alley 41 is a fantastic restaurant located in Flushing, Queens. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, with a modern and trendy decor that is perfect for a casual dinner with friends or a romantic night out. The menu offers a wide variety of Asian fusion dishes, with a focus on Taiwanese cuisine. The dishes are beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend trying the popcorn chicken, crispy pork belly bao, and the spicy beef noodle soup. The drinks menu is also impressive, with a great selection of cocktails, beer, and wine. The staff is friendly and attentive, providing excellent service throughout the meal. Alley 41's signature dish, the Golden Soup Sichuan Fish Fillet, is a must-try for anyone visiting the restaurant. This dish features tender and flavorful boneless fish fillets, simmered in a rich and aromatic broth made with a blend of spices and herbs, including Sichuan peppercorns. The soup is perfectly balanced, with a hint of sweetness from the added vegetables, and a spicy kick from the chili oil. It's no wonder this dish has gained so much popularity among customers and even caught the attention of the prestigious Michelin Guide, earning Alley 41 a coveted Michelin Bib Gourmand nomination in 2019,2020,2021,2022. This recognition is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to using high-quality ingredients and creating delicious, authentic Taiwanese cuisine. So be sure to give the Golden Soup Sichuan Fish Fillet a try on your next visit to Alley 41!Alley 41 is a must-visit spot for anyone looking for delicious food and a fun dining experience in Flushing.

came with two friends and we ordered bunch of food. all taste good. no complaint for the food. great spot if you live in the neighbor.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here for our Lunar New Year family meal.
When we first walked in, I could tell my parents were unsure what to expect. It is a small restaurant with tables for smaller groups in the front portion and three larger tables in the back. We were the first customers. All doubts disappeared as soon as we had our first bites. There is a nice balance between spice and ma la, with the pleasant warm, numbing sensation. The eggplant was tender yet firm, and the mapo tofu was amazing! If you like duck, I highly recommend the tea smoked duck, which has a flavor that is rich and deep. At the end of the meal, my mother said it was one of the most authentic Shichuan meals she has had in a very, very long time. When we left, every table was taken and people were waiting for tables. My advice-get there early, but if you have to wait, it is worth the wait.
Be the first to ReplyMy favorite place in Flushing right now.
The fish dishes are sublime and I feel like Jesus is caressing me up to heaven every time I order the Braised Sliced Fish in Hot Chili Sauce. Also I never order fried rice dishes usually but for some reason I felt like doing it one night and I'm SO happy I did. It makes my entire body feel like I'm being born again and quivering back onto earth as a beautiful rice plant.

Came to Alley 41 on a Sunday night and was easily able to find a table. For our table we ordered- Sliced Rolled Pork Spicy Noodles (4/5) The sliced rolled pork with cucumbers were delicious and refreshing! I loved the vinegar contrast. Unfortunately, the noodles were relatively bland. - Braised Pork with Chestnut (2/5): Maybe it was the braised pork I had the misfortune of picking up, but all of my pieces were hard :( they didn't have the tender texture I was hoping for- Cong You Bing (4/5): this was really flaky and crispy. It didn't have the doughiness that I look for within the scallion pancake but it was pretty good- Flounder Filet in Sweet Garlic Sauce (5/5): by far the best dish of the night! The flounder was tender and the sweet garlic sauce was amazing. Every bite was super flavorful and even though I was full, I wanted more- Bok Choy (3.5/5): Your average run of the mill bok choy. Didn't taste particularly unique but good if you need to get your greens inFor $30 per person after tax and tip, we all ate until we were stuffed. Would come back again

Party of 3, we ordered a cold appetizer, two side dishes, and a main dish. As this is a Sichuan place, 3 of the dishes had to be spicy, otherwise there's no point in eating Sichuan cuisine. **Atmosphere:**The location of the restaurant itself is within an alley, fitting of its name. Connected to Main Street, however hiding away, which is unfortunate because it serves great food. The exterior of the restaurant is red, a bit modern, and oriental, compared to the other run-down stores in the same alley. The interior was very inviting, with oriental furniture, wood, and a fish tank that some very pretty parrot fish, which were colorfully red.**招牌黄伞肺片 Ox Tongue & Tripe w. Roasted Chili Peanuts, $16.95:**- This is a classic cold appetizer I get at Shanghai Cuisine Restaurants, however as usual it is highly priced to my disliking.- Small portion size for ~$17.- The first bite hit me with the mala immediately at the back of the throat, I immediately felt the heat.- Heat was not overpowering the flavor and managable with ice water.- Lots of umami and "ma" numbing heat, which I enjoyed.- Temperature was great for a cold app.- Was a little oversalted for my taste.- Tripe is tender, but the oxtongue was a little tough for my taste.- Overall it was good, but I wouldn't order again due to the price and nothing stood out.**成都冒鸭 1/2 Roasted Duck w. Chef's Special Sauce, $21.95 :**- Strong duck flavor, but not gamy- Nice aromatic smokiness from the spices- The meat was medium rare/still pink, so the meat was tender and juicy- Not spicy, which served as a balance for the other heated dishes- Overall pretty nice as an appetizer, definitely don't want to finish all of it though.**血旺肥肠 Pork Intestine w. Duck Blood in Spicy Sauce:**- Presentation is a little rough with the green/yellowish colors, but the flavor makes up for it.- Duck Blood was perfect, had just the right texture of tender, juicy, and a bit of springiness, not dry at all.- Intestines well cooked, tender, no gaminess, and went with the sauce well.- Sauce was excellent, with the heat, spice, and acidity from the pickled veggies.- For side toppings, pickled veggies were nice and sour, bamboo shoots had a nice crunchy contrast, and the enoki mushrooms provided an aromatic flavor, and clung the sauce well.- Garlic had a nice edge.- Eating one of the small chilis is dangerous.- Overall I thought this was the best dish ordered, flavor was unique and delicious, and the components were well done.**霸王沸腾鱼 Boiled Sliced Fish in Hot Chili Sauce:**- Presentation screams spicy and inviting.- Had a distinctly different flavor profile of the chili sauce from the previous spicy sauce, noticable by taste.- Broth didn't have any noticable fish umami.- The fish itself however, was fresh and flaky, and had a nice strong flavor.- For side toppings, lotus root and bean sprouts were crunchy, tofu skin had a nice bite and was able to cling onto the sauce.- Great to eat with rice, it soaks up the broth and oil for a better experience.- Too much oil for my liking, as I would have loved to drink the sauce but the amount of oil was too unhealthy to consume.- Overall the fish is excellent and the toppings provide nice texture and flavor, but the broth is lacking in fishy flavor and has excess oil.**Final Notes:**- Heat level was strong but not overpowering for all the dishes, was deliciously spicy.- Service was great, they gave us drinks when asked, and immediately gave me napkins when I asked for them twice, due to my nose running, and jokingly teased about the heat.- They have a cash discount, and a 15% discount if you post about them on Instagram or any other social media, which I gladly partook in.- Total cost of around $100, and party was full with some leftovers to take home. Well satisified.

I got their mapo tofu, and la zi ji (spicy fried chicken bits) for takeout, and it tastes so good. Very flavorful, oily, but all at the same time so good with rice. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. One of the best Szechuan places I've had. Slight discount if you pay with cash!

I didn't think much about this place because it was tucked away from Flushing's bustling main street with a lowkey storefront entrance. Just one of those local restaurants trying to get by right? I was wrong.I was pretty impressed by the quality of the food, especially their string beans, and although it is a simple dish, they managed to elevate it with the right amount of seasoning and crispness. They also managed to make good steamed fish - a dish I rarely look forward to because many restaurants don't have the patience to bring it to standard but I was surprised by how well done it was. Overall the food remains authentic but I noticed subtle hints that appease the western palate. This is one of the few restaurants you should not "judge by its cover" and it made a very solid point. Their menu is extensive and I look forward to coming back to try more of their menu.FYI, I noticed this restaurant's service and staff are not as friendly to non-locals and ABCs.
