I love this store.
It's local to my job and easy to grab some food. Every employee I've encountered had been helpful and friendly. It's very clean and bright with a lot of options. I haven't done much grocery shopping here so I can't speak to the prices but it's great for a quick bites. There's sushi, pizza, a deli, a salad bar and a coffee bar as well as some pre made and packaged items and a hot food bar. Generally, I stop in for a mid afternoon coffee as it is more affordable than other local spots.

Quick update: love this store, but wish they would use lighter-weight take-away containers. When I buy cake (they have GREAT cakes) or something at the salad bar, it's served in a very heavy gauge plastic. I recycle diligently but find myself (single guy) filling a bag a week with these containers. Really bothers me that there's not something simpler and more environmentally-agreeable. But I LOVE the store and people.

Just sometimes find items that are too near or over expire dates.

I came here to pick up some food from the buffet and it was a pleasant experience. The staff was very friendly and there was a good variety of food. The food was also tasty. There were also a lot of items for sale here - if you need any groceries in Hell's Kitchen this is the place to go!

Solid neighborhood market but the prices have been creeping up so high. I was about to checkout on a Whole Foods delivery and then I thought I would do better to go here. So I had the WF prices and total in my head. Some of them items were literally double the price from WF. All of them were more expensive. I consider WF a fairly expensive market and to see how much more the Amish market was, disappointed me. Those are some steep margins the owners are enjoying.

Stopping in for a late lunch, I have been here for groceries which is a great variety, and fresh produce. I thought to myself today, why not skip a $30 poke bowl and check out the food bar. This location is a mix of a grocery store with an area downstairs for lunch-in. As I mentioned if you live in NYC and around grand central great for your grocery needs, lines are long at the bakery counters but butcher and registers move pretty quickly. That being said I came by for what I thought was a decent cheap meal. I grabbed myself a container to fill up with some hot/cold mix food bar which is 13.99 a lb., I believe. I was trying my best to do the healthy thing and skip the burgers and pizza next door to my job and thought a leisurely walk while not paying for delivery would make for a nice late lunch. A couple of the stew and chicken dishes were not visually appealing, some pieces seemed left too long on the warmer. I picked up the best looking Salmon piece I could find from the hot food and proceeded to grabbing a mix of some balsamic chicken, avocado/tomato salad, grilled vegetables and mushrooms. Yes I know i know point of a food bar or buffets in general, is go for the lightest and most expensive items but I thought it would be fine. I thought I was light on the veggies but the avocados must have done me in because 4 oz Salmon and sides came to $28. Salmon was well cooked, not overdone, moist but not dry in any parts. The vegetables were decent as well grilled right with a little bit of char on some lucky pieces. Balsamic chicken salad was not as tasty with many of the pieces being a bit dry probably due to sitting out too long, to me it shows that its not maintained to above proper standards. There must have been some issues with theft or something because there was a staff around the food tables and one at the door, cautious and understandable but for me not warm welcoming feeling to eat there and grabbed to go. Love mushrooms but all the veggies probably could have been seasoned but otherwise no complaints but nothing exciting. As I mentioned prior, a decent place for your groceries and have had pre-marinated skewers from the butcher before and never had any complaints, produce pretty fresh as well. Variety of gluten free and dairy free items around. Food bar on the other hand, probably not worth it for the price, better options in terms of food the vicinity that may be same or better quality. Would have loved to give another star but few noticeable things and leaving out any nostalgic experiences left this to be a fair rating.

Cute market that is actually bigger than it seems! There are two sides and they have a lot of items it and it feels like you can get anything you need. Quality seems good and they have a large variety of specialty items as well for different dietary restrictions that for some people are more difficult to find. I have not tried their ready made food, however, I do see people eating it so I assume it is not bad. Prices are a little on the high end, however it is NYC and quality matters so its not too bad. They have been here for a long time and I think that says something as well as it's hard to survive here unless you are good!
Be the first to ReplyGreat market .
Fresh sandwiches, flat bread pizzas and a market all in one. Fresh baked goods.

The chicharron (fried pork belly) I bought from the deli seems to be undercooked. Looks a little pink in the middle. With pork I want it fully cooked. A bit disappointed since I was looking forward to this. Don't get the big pieces like I did.
Be the first to ReplyEverything here is good.
Hot food bar, sushi, salads, and coffee. Great and interesting selection of soft drinks. I look forward to lunch from here each week. Good ambiance and very quick service.
Be the first to ReplyCame here once to get groceries.
I saw pretzel challah and thought I gotta have it for my chicken salad meal prep sandwiches. As I was meal prepping, to my dismay, I found mold on the bread! I was so sad more than disappointed. My bf took it back the next day for a refund. On a another note, we got pizza from their deli another time for take out. The bianca spinaca is amazing -- actual artichokes on the pizza! And not too creamy. Beats artichoke pizza from Artichoke Pizza any day. The funghi + olive paste pizza was a little too salty. Out of the 3 we had, the pesto pizza is my favorite so far. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the pizza.

Perfect market to purchase groceries or already cooked foods. Really great prices in comparison to other stores throughout NYC. Additionally, they have a larger section and variety in comparison also. The cheese selection is overwhelming in the best possible way, lol. The hot/ cold food bar is always fresh. Very clean and everyone is always overly friendly. My only recommendation is not to go after work (5-7) weekdays, slightly busy with lines.
Be the first to ReplyThe best supermarket in NYC.
It has an incredible cheese selection. Also for a quick lunch or dinner, the hot bar offers great selections including healthy salmon. The vegetables are fresh similar to a farmer's market. The staff are amazing and nice. In the back there is a kitchen section that is very helpful for bowls and utensils on the fly.

Staying at a hotel in Midtown and this was right down the street. Great place to pickup items to snack and have breakfast foods. Large selection. Pricey but probably reflects NYC markup. They also have hot coffee available for those who need their morning fuel!

SOOOOO much stuff here that I felt like a kid in an expensive candy shop! The endless varieties of chips, smoked fish, honey, olive oils, meats, cakes, made-to-order chopped salads, chocolates, meals-to-go, snacks,...you name it, they've got it here & not a single person of the Amish community in sight! We had a gigunda turkey w/brie, etc. hero that was well worth the $8 price, seeing as it was enough for one & a half meals. Next time I am here, I plan to pick up some of their ready-made meal items, which looked great. COVID protocol being followed in terms of distancing while on the cashier's line & there were only two tables in the small area near the sandwich take-out section.
Be the first to ReplyThis is the closest grocery store to me.
Is it the best? No. Is it the worst? Definitely not. Does it have most of the items I need? Yes.Selection can be a little limited in my opinion. But I have to say... I am OBSESSED with their Salmon. The pre made grab-and-go baked salmon w/ asparagus... DEVINE. The salmon, brown rice and broccoli...oh so good. Also, their chopped/tossed salad bar also offers Salmon as a protein choice.Reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars:- Butcher can be a litttttttle mean and impatient sometimes.- Limited selection- Some items can be pricey. But out of Morton Williams and D'gaestino, they have the best price for strawberries. The cheapest strawberries I've ever purchased in a NYC grocery store was here! I believe it was $2.99.

11/2/2020I had been frequenting this place for the last several years and have spend quite a bit of money. In recent months, every time I go in they watch me like a hawk and follow me around, particularly the manager (tall nearly ball headed). Tonight, I got so fed up, I confronted the him (manager) and stated every time I come in here you follow me. He stated he has not been doing any such thing and said he's checking everyone out. I disputed his claim, and he flat out said, "I'm the manager here, and I don't care what you think!" With that I put down my groceries and walked out. Needless to say, I will never step foot in there again.
Be the first to ReplyI've had some really poor experiences with customer service.
Everyone watches you like hawks and they are not helpful. Generally just bad vibes. I'm unhappy every time I leave. The food isn't even that good for me to put up with bad service. Act sketchy once (I.e. have two many bags with you so it looks like you're shoplifting), and they are rude to you forever.

I was very excited to see that not only was Amish Market open, and fully stocked, but they had fresh crab cakes, which I had been craving,@ $4.99 each. I was very disappointed when I heated them up and found that they had no flavor. These seemed like tuna cakes or as if they had been made with fake crab. I don't mean to sound like a crab snob, but I'm used to lump or jumbo crab, so these just didn't seem like crab cakes at all. I wouldn't have bothered to write this review, but I called the store to complain. The manager on duty said he would call me back and never did. Based on this experience and others, I don't feel like Amish Market on E. 45th Street values their customers. It is usually the last grocery I go because I've never felt important there compared to other groceries that have friendly staff. Amish Market has always seemed arrogant and condescending. Shopping there makes me feel like a "sucker".

Great grocery store and lunch spot but it's rare there's anything new at the hot/cold bar. I'd really like to know why they put red/green/yellow peppers in EVERY salad. Make your own salad bar is great, ok pizzas, sushi is fresh, great cakes/desserts, a lot of cheese choices and the olive bar is really good. But if someone from Amish reads this, please cut back on the peppers.
Be the first to ReplyThis is a very good market with good produce and products
This is a very good market with good produce and products and service. Have been shoppring here for over a decade. However - Am writing this as the fastest way to alert the proprieter that I had a serious problem with purchases made on Jaunary 21, 2020. Bought a few items (see list) (actually bought more but include here only the ones ingested same day) and got some kind of food poisoning such that I had to go to the emergency room - have never been that ill in my entire life. Prepared the food myself and have never been ill from my own food preparation and am over 50 years old - so that's a lot of cooking for myself and guests without incident. Dear Sir/Madam - Amish Market This is the list of the food items to be aware of - I suppose if there are other notifications beyond mine, this may be of help:Bag of clementines - front of produce (washed at home)Two small red onions from binSunshine Snacks Pitted Dates (in round plastic container)Tonnino tuna in waterHalf sour pickles from refrigerated produce section:(Please Note - this product may have been the problem since the inside of the plastic carrying bag was wet - containter leaked & may not have been properly sealed)Sophia cornichons pickles - large jarOlivia's Organic sweet baby lettuceVermont Brand White English MuffinsThank you for your time and attention. I plan to remain a patron of your store despite this exigent circumstance.
