A Little Boujee
Perhaps it was the anticipation after hearing all the hype; but I was ready for a "knock my socks off" evening but was left with a "meh" it's okay feeling. From a food perspective , it was good, starting plate was the Vitelo Tonnato ,tasty for sure a little too much hint of the tuna in it though. Next ,the truffle pasta was note worthy for sure, very good, the dessert which was a chamomile cake seemed a bit on the dry side. The main course which was a "half" a baby chicken was shared between two people. Little bit O' food for two folks..... but what really killed the evening for us was the $35.00 corking fee. We BYOB'ed our own wine already uncorked and were still charged the fee, when we inquired as to why we were charged for a service that was not provided to us, the Hostess/ Manager , quickly answered with a degree of dissension "that is our policy, I told you when I seated you that we would charge you", BTW... she did not, when I mentioned we have been to other BYOBs that do not charge , she quipped "we have a liquor a license to pay for!" Meaning , you the customer is paying for our liquor license, she then asked me with a condescending edge to her voice , "how do you think I should communicate this moving forward?" Honestly she killed the evening for us. My take away is eh..... a little Boujee, a little food, way over priced don't need to go again.. It will burn itself out .

Except for the dessert the main flavor of the other courses was salt. No subtlety of flavors. The duck was gamey, the snapper was very oily and salty. Don't waste your time and $$

We had a private event here. It was such a wonderful evening!! The food was excellent, service was friendly and very efficient. The atmosphere is very inviting and it’s fun to be able to see everything going on in the kitchen. Everyone who attended is hoping we go back again sometime. The handmade pottery some of the meals were served on are stunning.

Excellent service from beginning to end. We came early and sat outside on some cute chairs while we waited to enjoy the downtown West Chester vibe. They served us outside bringing us a couple of Grolsch beers. Dinner was 4 course prix fixe. Each course was summer fresh. Very nice experience - I would go back.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding food and service -- but at a price
Even though we live only a short distance away, and we dine out frequently, this was our first visit to Andiario. Getting a reservation was no problem. We arrived about 10 minutes before our reservation time and were told we'd have a short wait before we were seated. At our designated reservation time we were seated -- at a table right where we had been waiting, that had been available and set up the entire time we stood waiting. Go figure! The food was truly wonderful, and the service was outstanding. We knew ahead of time that Andiario offered a BYO option, and we generally seek out restaurants that offer a BYO option, but since Andiario doesn't post their menu on their website, wine pairing, which we would normally give a lot of thought to for this type of restaurant, would have been hit-or-miss had we brought our own. So we opted instead for the wine pairing that's offered by the restaurant. That included 5 different wines -- a sparkling wine to start, and a different wine chosen specifically for each of the four courses. The wines were all quite good and paired wonderfully with the food. But, as you might expect, they were on the small side -- maybe 3 ounces of each. Andiario is destination dining at its finest, but it's also more expensive than just about every other fine dining restaurant in Chester County. The 4-course prix fixe dinner is $80 per person. The wine pairing is an additional $70 per person. If you choose to bring your own wine, the corkage fee is $35 per bottle. Add in taxes and gratuity and your dinner tab could easily run nearly $200 per person. When I think of fine dining in Chester County, the one other place that comes to mind is the Birchrunville Store Cafe. There, the food and service are also outstanding, there's no corkage fee, and the cost of your meal will be less than half the cost of Andiario. (Also, FWIW, there's no hassle trying to park your car). Bottom line -- if you're ready to splurge on a fine dinner, and you don't want to drive all the way up to Birchrunville, Andiario is a good choice.

Not impressed with the food, spend your hard earned money else where! Even water said its a shame they increased the fee just to open YOUR bottle of wine.

We happened into. Andiario 4 years ago when they had just opened. We were blown away and have been huge fans of Tony and Maria’s unique farm to table place ever since. The creativity and attention to detail in the 4 courses is unlike any other restaurant in the suburbs or even Philadelphia. Guests need to be aware that the menu is fixed weekly and you won’t know what you will have until you arrive. Substitutions are made for allergies. Tony’s handmade pasta is especially wonderful. The vibe is relaxed sophistication and the service is professional, knowledgeable and quietly. attentive. Tony Andiario is an artist and food is his medium. It can be tough to get a table but it is worth the effort.

Quite possibly this could be Chester County's best restaurant. Andiario is consistently superlative. Have dined there several times.
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
We really wanted to like this place. Unfortunately pasta dishes were mediocre at best -- with little imagination and flavor. Server was very pleasant and professional. However, food was too disappointing to want to return.

Splendid meal in West Chester! The service was outstanding. Nice atmosphere. "Flattened" scallops were delicious seasoned with a delicious oil with sneaky heat. Mushroom and ricotta tortellini's were delicate and nuanced, served just right. Striped bass was tasty, with nicely seasoned and braised skin. The pear cake was just moist enough to compliment the pear compote. I wish I brought a desert wine for it. A wonderful experience at one of the areas best restaurants.

Friends told us this was their favorite restaurant in the area, so we had to try it. The menu is fixed, so you just have to trust the chefs to work their magic. A multi-course culinary adventure that we chose to do with the wine pairings. We started with a tuna crudo, followed by a radicchio salad and a grilled parsnip on toast. The short-rib pasta dish was one of the best ever. The meat course was pheasant with pork belly, mushrooms, and baby Brussels sprouts with a wonderful sauce. Dessert was a peach panna cotta, tasty but the wine that was the star of the desert course.

We had another wonderful dining experience at Andiario last night. We had a fantastic five course meal with perfect wine pairings for each course. Every dish was something we never had before and each was delicious, from the first nibble of chicken liver mousse with bitter cherry, to the shaved cauliflower salad, caramelle pasta stuffed with winter squash, braised beef collar with radicchio and melon, to the poached pear and torte dessert. Service was impeccable. No wonder Andiario has been named one of the ten best restaurants in Philadelphia by the Inquirer food critic. Tony and Maria are doing something truly remarkable right here in West Chester.
