Expensive and rather dull
Was looking forward to this highly recommended upscale chop house. If you go, recommend insisting on inside seating;. The outside seating is under a huge tent and lacks any ambiance and frankly does a severe disservice to the entire dining experience. Would not do that again. Service was professional and attentive. Ordered a ribeye - cooked to perfection. Sides of spinach were equally well prepared. Reasonable wine list for wine by the glass - could be a tad more extensive. Convenient valet parking. Fine dining is an experience. The management at Arroyo needs to invest in some more appropriate/inviting outside seating.

Great place to relax and listen to the piano and have your dinner at the bar. The kitchen bar is very comfortable. Watch the chefs prep meals...

This place would be hard to beat. Excellent service. Never felt rushed. Atmosphere was comfy and cozy - not too loud. As for the food - two of us had melt in your mouth steaks with the perfect char and two of us had halibut which was cooked perfectly. The sides were great too. Great selection of wine. Nothing but hood things to say about this restaurant.

Be the first to ReplyVERY GOOD!!!
Have been to the chop house a number of time for business, and took my wife for date night. The food is nothing avant-garde, its simply fine dining and fine food, and certainly well above the dated stale steak house (those are good, too, if the food and service are good). You'll do well whether business or a fine meal with the spouse.
The food is always great. A good selection of specials for appetizers or entrees always keeps it interesting.
They actually have butterscotch pudding on the dessert menu, the good old kind that you had as a kid. It's pure heaven. Unfortunately, you have to save room for it - which is very hard to do - and even when you get there, after a few bites and you'll be on a sugar overload.
They also own the Parkway Grill next door, so reservations are highly recommended, and if you don't get a table at the chop house, try next door where you'll find a great selection of fine dining and specials for entrees, though sans butterscotch pudding.
One of the finest!
Arroyo Chop House Restaurant is one of the finest dining experiences bar none. Best selection of choice meats, world class wines and an incredible bar and service staff, the Chop House is first class all the way around. It's our go to restaurant on a regular basis.

Dark wood paneling. Leather seats. Busy bar scene. Low lighting. That's a formula for an old time steakhouse and that's what you get here. $30 corkage for wine and that's a good bargain since bottles tend to get pretty pricey. I ordered the rib-eye, medium rare. It was done perfectly. We shared some family style sides. You need to do that since a side is too much for one. Brussels Sprouts were good and the au gratin potatoes were terrific. Finish dinner off with a chocolate souffle and you've got a great meal. The only negative here is that it wasn't Mastro's. While I really like the food and experience here, I still thing think the food and service at Mastro's is just a little bit better.

Met friends for dinner here and the cocktails--Old Fashion- was amazing. Dinner ordered was a petite filet, which was cooked to perfection. Wonderful service and our booth was very comfortable.

Had a birthday dinner for a 17 year old. Very good food, congenial atmosphere, excellent service. Highly recommended.

My husband and I just moved from Houston to LA and were looking for a good, classic steakhouse to celebrate our 5th anniversary. Our realtor pointed us to Arroyo Chop House, which perfectly matched the description of what we wanted.
We didn't make a reservation, and instead, arrived at 5 PM. There was already a line, waiting for that first seating, so we put our names on the list and went to the classy bar. I asked the bartender if he had any great virgin cocktails and he said he could whip up anything - he asked what mood I was in, and when I said earthy and cooling, he whipped up the PERFECT virgin cucumber-basil cocktail. Incredible. My husband had a delicious dry vodka martini, shaken to perfection (which is saying something because he's an incredibly particular martini drinker).
At that point, we were shown to our table, where we experienced excellent service and food. We shared a cowboy ribeye (bone-in), the scallop appetizer, the beet salad and lobster bisque, the au gratin potatoes, and the corn souffle. Everything tasted divine! Our only complaint was that the lobster bisque wasn't all that "lobstery" (for lack of a better term) - I'd skip that dish. Other than that bisque, I'd order everything that we ate again, and would hesitate to switch - it was all that good!
Parking is plentiful, but is all valet (which we HATE). We found free street parking, across from Whole Foods.
If you are looking for modern and hip, this isn't the place for you, but if you want great food in a classic, classy, steakhouse setting, DEFINITELY head to Arroyo.
