Amazing experience!
Atoboy is a Korean-inspired restaurant opened by 2 Michelin star chef Park (Atomix). The restaurant is serving a 75$ prix fixe menu, inspired by the concept of banchan (small side dishes served along with cooked rice in Korean cuisine) alongside a curated selection of drinks (with or without alcohol). To put is simple, the overall experience was superb from the start until the end. Dishes were creative, innovative, tasty and perfectly balanced, a true work of art. Each ingredient was equal in value to each dish, all working together in perfect harmony, i would say « Atopalate » (Ato meaning « gift »). Service was spotless, friendly, professional, and not intrusive. If you are in NY i truly recommend you visit this place.

Loved this place. Was a recommendation & not a place you would stumble across. Great ambience & excellent food & drink. A relaxed vibe. Will definitely go back some time

So this was the food find of our trip to NYC this time. Just north of flatiron, not an area I normally go to but will certainly be back to this place. Just an anonymous doorway in an anonymous street but once inside it’s a really cool stripped bare concrete industrial space. Great vibe and amazing staff. It’s a fix menu that you can add courses to. Sort of a sharing experience. Very Korean but with modern twists. 100% go there.

Best meal I had in NYC in spring of 2023 Easy to miss entrance, understated decor with exposed concrete, me like. One of the waiters was really engaging and informative, really helped me understand the subtleties of the different options (for example, they marinate their chicken in pineapple juice for 2 days). I had their obligatory opening dish (sea urchin) which was ok, but the most underwhelming of the dishes. Followed with their yellowtail sashimi with yuzu on a bed of jellyfish. Absolutely amazing (love yellowtail), the jellyfish is sharp, maybe still has some nematocysts. Then had the octopus with chorizo dish, again, amazing. They braise their octopus to perfection, achieving that special smokiness and perfect texture. Then they fry it and are able to give it a deliciously crunchy exterior. Next dish was the ribs. Loved the freshness and brightness of its chimichurri. The meat just melted off the bones. This was accompanied by rice, kimchi, and pickled cucumbers. The kimchi was very, very spicy. Ended with a granita to offset the kimchi. This was nutty ice with pecans over peach yogurt and a heart of burrata. Will come again, before they’re given a Michelin star or two and prices rise

Amazing take on Korean Banchan style dining. Everything was fresh and engaging. (Any tasting menu that starts of with sea urchin has got to be great right?) Servers and management were all welcoming and engaging. The wine list was very well chosen and the staff knew their wine. Everything paired very well with our dinner selections. The fried chicken was psychedelic - best I've had. Bravo!

Atoboy is a fine dining eatery in the Flatiron district and is 'it's named self' the definition of 'inspiring'. The decor is cafeteria-styled with exposed stone walls and wooden tables but beautifully plated delicious food more than compensates for the minimalistic ambience. A menu fly-over revealed food fare such as 'octopus with chimichurri and potato', 'duck with chanterelle and quince' and other goodies. I went with the signature 'fried chicken with peanut sauce' which was super. The tasting menu is a downright deal with a roster of small dishes that runs the menu gamut of Atoboy's Korean delights.

Great innovative food with sauces and combinations not expected in a Korean restaurant. The cucumber based sauce is to die for! Only one of the plates was not up to standard but the dessert was outstanding!
Be the first to ReplyA false fixed price 3 course menu. Rachel course had extra money to it … why? Every course of the 75 dollar menu we had
Fixed menu of 3 courses 75 dollars . Ok. Extra drinks and 3 plates at bottom of menu..’bill comes . We paid extra for every plate on fixed menu.. ate least 25 / 30 Nobody told us that is was extra money for certain dishes within fixed menu… Bill was crazy over priced . Never again . We were fooled

PROS Service is excellent, food is essential and well balanced. Environment is great and price is well deserved Loved all details and overall atmosphere CONS Tasting menu is good, quantity is few. Choice is great on menu 75$ each but there are significant plates with more money on top if you go for them. Cocktail list has 2 options only.
Be the first to ReplyTry the fried chicken - and everything else 😅
Our experience at Atoboy was unmatched. Every course was better than the last. The fried chicken is a must-have. We even got seconds. Our server Hannah was phenomenal and so helpful choosing our dishes and the drinks to go with them! Really cool vibe and environment makes this such a unique dining experience. A must have if you’re travelling to NYC looking for something new!

This was a bad experience, we were 5 diners and each tried a different dish It was like a Russian roulette, each dish was completely different and not necessarily in a good way. The waiters were not helpful. And we came out very disappointed from the meal

Went for dinner on a visit to NYC. The food was not very good in general and was served VERY quickly. Hardly had time to breathe between the different courses in the tasting menu. Felt like a marathon...
Be the first to ReplyGreat fried chicken but average dessert
Everyone talks about the fried chicken and the way the meal is setup its almost required since it's the best dish and the meal a on the small side without it. The chicken is nicely brined and fried in a good, clean oil that makes it super crispy. Awesome. Some other standouts include the shrimp mando and pork belly. The only thing that wasn't a hit was the desserts, which was technically prepped well but just was lacking something to make it stand out.

TGIF family outing. Four of
TGIF family outing. Four of us made a late reservation. Got there about 5 min before seating. Wait a little bit and seated at the sidewalk booth for 4 with overhead heating - very comfortable. We ordered the prefix dinner at $75/pp. Every dish was a pleasant surprise. The staff are very well versed in their dishes. They know how long we have been waiting. Just very attentive. The octopus, pork belly, urchin crab salad, mackerel radicchio salad were so good. The wagyu beef is okay. We skipped fried chicken. According to reviews, that’s probably a mistake. Will come again

THE BEST fried chicken in NYC. I mean, honestly, just fab!! Every other dish is lovely too! I love this place!! And great service also!
Be the first to ReplyVery Underrated Korean Tapas
Came here on a Thursday night for dinner with my gf and what I expected was blown out of proportions. This restaurant may look closed or under construction, but they are open despite the deceiving looks from the scaffoldings.
We were seated very promptly and greeted by all of the waitstaff as we were directed to our seats. We were given the rundown of how to order and were on our merry way to order. A person will have to get three different plates, one from each section on the menu while the last section is a la carte. So for the two of us, we got six plates. They did tell us that if we didn't want to do it this way that we could sit at the bar area and order everything a la carte without the minimum restriction.
Here's what we got from each section:
YellowTail
Beef Tartare
Sunchoke
Pork & Shrimp
Octopus
Pork Belly
The food was amazing. From the first plate they served us, we were both pretty surprised at how good it tasted. Every plate had its own unique taste to it and made to perfection. By the time we were done with our sixth plate, we were both surprisingly full. For the quality and quantity of a tapas restaurant, three plates for $46 per person is a pretty good deal. The meal also comes with rice. We chose to get one seaweed rice for an extra $2 to try out and was worth it. We also got seaweed crackers at the beginning of our meal which were a tasty snack. Highly recommend this very underrated restaurant.
One of my favorite modern Korean restaurants
One of my favorite modern restaurants in NY. Great creative Korean food in a casual setting and very well priced.
Be the first to ReplyCreative Korean Food
This Asian Michelin restaurant in Nomad area was quite hard to find with its small entrance but my daughter and I truly enjoyed this rather unique experience. We love Korean food and oftentimes eat in one so when the food started arriving, we wondered if they are really Korean. They are but they are presented in such a creative and unique way in small plates... typical of the free Banchan dishes they serve at the beginning of a Korean meal. They are so yummy. We ordered the 3 course tasting menu each and the seaweed rice. You can eat the rice by itself, and we got a second serving. For the meal, we ordered the Beef tartare, Crab in pomelo, pollock and citrus fern, the pork and shrimp, sunchoke, galbi, and my favorite of them, mackerel in green chilli, raddish and scallion.
Be the first to ReplySuch GREAT Korean tasting menu
I had dinner here recently and we ordered the tasting menu, wow was I so impressed, and guess what? Event happier when I saw the bill at the end of the night. Its Korean food and the menu is really fun (the portions are small tho), I just savored every single bite and taste, the way the dishes are presented and put together is very modern and impressive as well. I suggest trying the skate, the crab, and the beef tartare.
Be the first to ReplyDelicious Low-Key Korean Tasting Concept
My spouse and I dined at Atoboy for dinner on a Saturday evening in late October 2019. Atoboy (pronounced ah-TOE-boy) is open daily for dinner only. Diners can book a spot using the online Resy reservation system. If your preferred time is not available (the restaurant is often booked solid), you can sign up to be notified by email if space opens up (but all waiting diners receive the same email at the same time, so you need to act quickly).
Atoboy opened in the summer of 2016 in the NoMad neighborhood near the corner of East 28th Street and Park Avenue. It occupies the street level of a block of buildings with storefronts on the bottom and apartments/offices atop. The narrow but long space features polished cement floors that add to the clean, industrial feel of the space. A small bar occupies the front of the restaurant, while tables line the sides of each wall. The restaurant is run by Chef Junghyun Park and his wife Ellia; they also operate Korean fine-dining tasting-menu establishment Atomix. (We dined there in March 2019; see our separate review).
Atoboy serves a Korean tasting menu, where diners choose three “banchan” (small dishes) for $46 that are served with white rice (or for an additional $2, a seasonal rice, which was sweet potato on the night that we dined). The menu is arranged in three sections, and patrons choose one dish from each section. We shared the crab (topped with thinly sliced endive drizzled in a yuzu sauce) and yellowtail (topped with radish and a citrus mignonette), the fushimi (peppers similar to shishito mixed with dried shrimp, cashews, and egg yolk) and the pork and shrimp (sliced pork topped with shrimp, peppers, and cilantro), and the galbi (beef short rib topped with tiny crisp sliced potato slices) and the pork belly (topped with enoki mushrooms and fennel). For dessert, we ordered the sujeonggwa granita (a delicious and unusual base of yogurt and burrata mixed with walnuts and topped with cinnamon shaved ice); the restaurant graciously also presented us with a complimentary pumpkin cheesecake because we were celebrating my spouse’s birthday. The food was tasty and memorable. We also enjoyed a corn-flavored iced tea (refills were complimentary) as well as a few beers (the restaurant has a full liquor license). Service was excellent, and staff worked well together as a team.
We loved our dinner at Atoboy: great food and great service in comfortable yet trendy surroundings.
