Auberge du Pommier Toronto Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent but not perfect
Our family in Toronto brought us here for dinner on a Saturday evening. I believe that our server's name was Andrew (I hope that I got that correct). My first note is that the surface parking is not made for vehicles larger than a Prius or a Volt. A full size SUV is very cramped in those spaces. The second note is that the restaurant is not handicapped friendly. The staff was gracious enough to bring us in through the kitchen where there would not be any stairs. We had a table of seven. All of us chose the Degustation menu and three of us added the wine pairing. The service that evening was as close to perfect as possible. Food delivery and explanation of each course was handled with excellence and the attention to detail was obvious with our server. We all enjoyed all five courses; however, some of our group were getting full by the last course. Personally I was not impressed with the foie gras addition to the duck course. it was a very small portion and was under cooked. I will say that I agree with comments from other guests who noticed a little too much salt. There were one or two courses where salt was too noticeable but I would not say do not go because of this. All of the wines paired with the courses were very young with one exception; a 2012 Bordeaux was served with the duck. The restaurant is beautiful and the staff are very attentive. I would recommend this restaurant but not on a regular schedule. This should be a place for special occasions. This way the uniqueness will not wear off.
The food was a bit disappointing
We have been dining at the Auberge for many, many years. The food and experience has been outstanding each time and has even improved over time. With this background, we were a bit disappointed regarding our last dinner. Appetizers were risotto au Crabe des Neiges. Very rich and excellent taste profile. One person found it salty. The mains were roasted Dover sole. This dish was quite disappointing. The sole was a bit dry. I am not sure if they overcooked all the portions or if it is the cooking method that leaves the fish dry. It is definitely the worst sole dish we have had. You should avoid ordering the sole dish. The sauce and vegetable side were very tasty. The service levels were outstanding from every staff member from start to finish. The service somewhat compensated for the poor main dish. The other thing that surprised me was the big price jump in the price of wines on their list. The same class of wine seems to be about 30+% higher. We never questioned the food and wine pricing in the past because the meals were so outstanding. Now, it gives us pause.
dinner experience
we have dinner there yesterday. It's a Great restaurant. Delicious food and excellent service. Will definitely come back.
Love the ambiance, great service and delicious food
Fantastic as usual! Just got home from Paris and Auberge rivals the best restaurants we visited there. Can’t wait to go back.
Unexpected plebean/poor quality food
The atmosphere: we had lunch on the beautiful patio. Very good service, including refilling our glasses with water, without any problem. The food: we ordered the Summerlicious menu. The soup was declared bland/overly sweet. The jambon was 2 transparent slices of what appeared as commercial, square ham with shredded celeriac on top that was so salty that a friend insisted it was shredded cheese. My pork was dry to the point of being not fit for human consumption. I was offered another dish by the waiter. The orzo was so, so according to a friend. The desserts were OK & consisted of large portion.
One of the finest French restaurant experiences we have ever had
I was looking for a great lunch spot for my wife and I and this restaurant was mentioned on several lists. French is something I have not done in awhile and we embarked to enjoy this restaurant. We were greeted warmly and the place is gorgeous. Furnishings, art, lighting ambience, this restaurant exudes charm, warmth and sophistication. it was a beautiful day and we were seated in the outdoors patio. It is one of the most beautiful patios we have ever enjoyed (anywhere in the world, and we have travelled a lot). The team of servers were all delightful, especially our primary server Michael G. We enjoyed quiche, a crepe, a lovely rose wine, and finished off with chocolat, the best sorbet I have ever tasted and French coffee which was perfect. I loved our time at this place and is in the top of my list of best restaurant experiences. I look forward to a return visit here again, and again.
The Perfect Place for a Celebration
We celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary with lunch for 6, arranged by our bridesmaids. We could not have asked for a better celebration of this special occasion. The food was marvellous and the service by the amazing Michael G was impeccable. Michael just made our day. He was respectful, humorous, efficient and made such a lovely fuss of us. His timing was perfect and we never felt rushed. We just felt so special. Michael was also very considerate, patient and creative with taking photos of our group, both at the table and in the courtyard, once other guests had left. Thoughtful touches acknowledging our Golden Anniversary were also greatly appreciated. Most of us tried the delicious, chilled green pea soup, several had the steak frites, I had the quiche and we were all very pleased with our choices. I had not been to Auberge du Pommier for more than a decade when I used to come for business lunches. I loved the restaurant then and I love them now. They did not disappoint. A perfect venue for a celebration with its wonderful, welcoming ambience. Parking was a slight challenge as my husband uses a walker. We parked underground then realized there was no elevator so he had to climb the stairs and leave the walker in the car. We should have checked this out beforehand. When we left, I picked him up outside the restaurant. There is no parking validation for lunch so it cost $18. There is a main floor washroom but there are a couple of steps which we'd been warned of beforehand. I don't believe there was a ramp but could be wrong. This might be an issue for wheelchair users.

Hey @FluffyStar64, thanks for the question! When you place your bid the amount gets transferred in a deposit account, the second you either cancel your bid or a few minutes after the bid expires the funds are moved back into your main account from where you can refund it to your payment method or use for other transactions.

I have a similar question, it seems like when money is refunded it doesnt go immediately what is the process of this since its essentially a debit card and not a credit card
