Big let down. 6-star prices, Spring Break vibes.
My husband and I were very excited to check-in to the relatively new Ian Schrager property last night. We’re staying for 3 nights — nice getaway from kids. We travel regularly to Tampa to see extended family and this is, by far, the nicest offering in Tampa. As a couple, we travel a ton and usually stay at the Four Seasons, St. Regis, etc. We love The Edition in West Hollywood. We arrived on a Saturday night at 10pm to check-in. We pulled up to the valet and felt like we were landing in the middle of Floribama Shore Spring Break. The scene at the valet is chaos. The valets were perfectly nice but distracted, and very focused on the stream of people lingering around the outside of the hotel. We gave our car to the valet and brought our bags into the lobby. The lobby was total chaos. There were two police officers guarding the hotel, yet it seemed that pretty much anyone could come in and out. We weren’t directed to the reception and it took a while to find it because the lobby was packed with people taking pictures on the gorgeous stairwell inside the lobby. I can only describe the crowd as young, nightclub vibe. 99% aren’t staying at the hotel, and it was not quite the “exclusive” vibe I would have hoped for at a hotel at this price point. Note: we were paying $600/night for a standard king room. *In Tampa*. This isn’t NY/Miami/LA, it’s Tampa. When we eventually found the unassuming front desk, we waited. One person at the front desk, and she was fielding several questions from folks not staying at the hotel. Check-in was easy. We asked for an upgrade and were told that the hotel is fully committed. A total lie, as there were plenty of suites online and our Amex Centurion rep said plenty of inventory. But whatever. Rooms are fine. Small. Well-appointed. Nothing really “wow” and definitely not worth $600/night. We went up to the rooftop bar for a drink. This is where it all sort of went downhill. Again, I can only say MTV Spring Break. Pool was packed. Hard to get a drink. Wound up trying to go to the inside bar and the bouncer rudely pointed us away. I explained we were hotel guests and he stepped aside without saying a word. Not friendly at all. The inside bar had 2 bartenders. We ordered 2 $25 poorly made cocktails and wound up staying for 20 mins. Lots of people in the bar who were there for a wedding. Most not staying in hotel. Overall, the look and fixtures of the hotel are what you’d expect from Ian Schrager. The service is just ok. The clientele don’t appear to be hotel guests and it has a very chaotic, Spring Break feel. Not a 5-star experience and not value for money.
Be the first to ReplyGreat for Amalie Arena attendance
Great for a quick night and attending a game or concert (like Madonna!) Pros: -two minutes from the Arena, bright and clean with friendly staff. The coffee shop in the morning was great. Cons: - stayed on floor 6 noise was an issue if you are concerned about that, hall noise, city noise etc. so bring a noise machine or ear plugs and you’re good. Be aware that it’s Valet only if that is a concern.
Be the first to ReplyNot for us
Myself, my husband and our 10 year old daughter stayed at The Edition Tampa 1 night, a Sunday, in late March. My husband had an early flight Monday morning so we had a quick little family getaway before he left in Tampa. I really wanted to like this hotel since it was nice to see a five star hotel in Tampa. There are pros, as noted below, but the cons far outweigh the pros for my family and our expectations and we will not return to this location. Pros: hotel was very clean, dinner room-service was great, quiet in our room, all the staff we encountered were super kind and helpful, great location Cons: I left air pods and a wireless charger accidentally in the room at check out and it was stolen (my bad, but still was a shock for a five star hotel that they weren’t turned in), pool was much smaller than it looked in pictures and was packed all day, pool was also not a place I’d be comfortable to be with my 10 year old daughter, breakfast at the restaurant was not great, lobby seemed like a hang-out for people who were not staying at the hotel, valet team seemed like nice young guys, but lacked the professionalism I usually see at other five star hotels, valet took about 30 minutes to get my car and it was not a busy time.
Be the first to ReplyGreat stay - we’ll be back
I had hesitated staying here because of the mixed reviews but I am so happy we decided to make the Edition our home for five nights. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms well laid out, spacious and well decorated. We ate at The Market and Azure and both were great. Service isn’t consistently 5-star but we had standouts - David at the pool, Vinnie at concierge, Bailey at the Market. It’s louder than some hotels but lively! The rooms were quiet. We loved it and will be back!
Be the first to ReplyDisappointing
Had mediocre drinks at the hotel lobby bar. Bartenders were snobbish and arrogant. If you are looking for a friendly bar to have a few drinks with family, I would highly recommend you walk across the street to one of the restaurants on Water Street that appreciate their customers. As a repeat client of The Edition that was willing to pay for overpriced rooms, food and drinks, I highly doubt I will be back. Read all the reviews before making any plans at this ungracious and impolite establishment. They are in severe need of new management
Be the first to ReplyLook elsewhere if arriving over the weekend
As others have noted this is NOT a 5 star arrival if you arrive late on a Friday night as it is a night club atmosphere which I was not expecting and almost impossible to valet the car and then work your way around the rope line to be ushered into... a completely packed lobby without an easy path to the check in. Then to stand in line with your luggage while inebriated guests circle around you and you watch as people in front of you hand $100 bills to the check in people to get "service". It was horrendous and I travel all over the world staying in five star resorts. I used AMEX FHR and they should not be in the program. I give them 3 stars rather than 2 as when I finally got to my room navigating the elevator with the clubbers going to the roof, I had a luggage issue which the night security team was very helpful in assisting. But unless you want the club atmosphere and no personal attention without dropping a lot of money (never mind that the rooms are in excess of $800/night) don't stay here.
Be the first to ReplyAmazing experience!
Honestly the best service and staff I have ever encountered. So nice, genuine, and legit. So clean and friendly. A million percent recommended! Could not recommend and better place to stay/place to get dinner!!!! Especially Andrew! Best ever:)))

Just checked out from the Edition Tampa and must say this stay might have been the best I’ve had here yet. I always make it a point to stay here when in town on business because the service is impeccable, the rooms are always spotless, and the amentities (the pool and various bars especially) can’t be beat. And you can’t forget Lilac. A Michelin starred restaurant that could hold its own in my home of Chicago. The attention to detail here is unparalleled and each and every staff member is always in a great mood, happy to help, and you can tell they genuinely enjoy working here. A rare find. One of the better hotels you can stay at in Florida. HUGE fan
Be the first to ReplyBest 30th Birthday!
WOW...WOW We celebrated my daughter's 30th birthday at the Edition and it was amazing! We stayed for a week, the hotel is gorgeous, great location and the staff made it so special for her! Shout out to David at The Market, he was incredible. He was so attentive and sweet. Bailee&Gaby were awesome as well! And thanks again to Audriana Suero! I had spoken to her on the phone and we had such a lovely conversation that she came to the front desk to greet us personally upon arrival! ❤️👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Be the first to ReplyVegas atmosphere, but look elsewhere if not into the club scene.
Stayed here on a Friday and Saturday night with our 15 and 19 year old kids. Arrived late and we could barely get in the door or move in the lobby because there were so many so people trying to get into the club and the lobby is tiny. Check in desk is very small and looks like a concierge desk so it was difficult to determine where check in actually was. Apparently this is the place to “be seen.” There was a lot of skin showing and a lot of selfie taking in the lobby and some heavily intoxicated people. Not exactly my thing or what I expect from a 5 star hotel. Stayed in a suite which was very nice and comfortable. Problem was that we were on the 3rd floor. The club music blared until after 2 am. It was so loud that we could identify all the songs from the club while sitting in our room. Again, not what we expected from a 5 star hotel, especially at the price we were paying for a suite. Pool area was nice. Hotel location was great. If you are into the club scene, this is the place for you. If the club scene isn’t your thing, I would stay elsewhere. The hotel needs to decide if they want to accommodate hotel guests or club goers—trying to do both doesn’t work.
Be the first to ReplyNice but Service Needs Improvement
Really nice hotel that’s well located. Rooms are spacious and beautiful contemporary décor. Lighting throughout the room and hotel is exceptional—nice a low lit. Asked for upper floor, quiet room—got room on lowest floor, next to elevator. Oh well. Service lacking in areas especially for this caliber of hotel and given hotel not full at all. Disappointed in room not being cleaned after sign turned on for 5 hours. You try to dial guest services and/or front desk, no one answers. Asked for something to be printed, front desk person left without doing anything. Called and changed time for dinner reservation, only to find out time was not changed and had to do it again. Street hotel fronts blocked off, yet no one from hotel bothered to email guests and let them know—took us 15 minutes to finally find way to valet. Coffee bar at hotel—waited 15 minutes for coffee with no one there. And cappuccino poorly made. Lilac is a nice restaurant that we enjoyed. Good service there.
Be the first to ReplyDo NOT use their valet!!!!
Do NOT trust your expensive car with their valet. They will jack up your car and deny responsibility. It was pouring rain when I got my car back and my umbrella was in the car with 2 giant buses behind me blowing the horn for me to move so checking my car for damages wasn’t on my mind. They deal with very high end cars. Why would I think they would return mine damaged

Had a top notch experience at the Tampa Edition. It was beautiful, clean classy and sexy. I must mention that Freddy the concierge went above and beyond anytime I had a request. His service was first class. He worked fast and got things done. I also must mention the food and restaurants were incredible and if you have time you must hit the pool deck. This is a must stay and don’t forget to see Freddy if you need anything.

Upon arriving at the Edition Spa for some much needed relaxation and pampering, I was welcomed to a beautiful serene atmosphere. Unfortunately it was quickly ruined when a large group of women came in loud and drinking. It was not relaxing.

The Tampa Edition is an innovative hotel tucked away on Water Street, Tampa. The pinnacle amenity of this property is it's drop-dead gorgeous entrance. I was so impressed with the magnificent lobby adorned with a lush rainforest jungle worth of tropical plants. Equally impressive is a snaking, marble, white, spiral staircase that is so glorious it could be the 'stairway to heaven'. Among the greenery are oceans of lounge areas highlighted by a custom travertine pool table with a brilliant yellow table top. The Tampa Bay Lightning home arena is directly across the street and Tampa provides access to such attractions as the Tampa Museum of Art, Chihuly Collection, Dali Museum and more. I was enthralled with my Premier King room. The huge windows provided an abundance of natural light. The white paneling, white oak furniture and soothing natural color palette created a calming aesthetic. The bath was marbleized with a walk-in shower and all the high-end accoutrements. There is a fleet of 7 food and beverage concepts at the Edition. LILAC is the signature fine dining option. It serves Mediterranean food fare from appetizers like Pork Belly & Spanish Octopus to entrees like Peppered Duck Breast. I pigged out on the Gulf Red Snapper and the Chocolate Walnut Cremeux dessert with a Turkish Tea (a Bourbon concoction).......my taste buds were well satisfied. AZURE is a beachy rooftop lunch and dinner concept (the Santorini seafood platter is awesome) while the MARKET is a morning to night eatery and the LOBBY BAR and POOL BAR are popular drinking spots. The PUNCH ROOM is a drink and bar snacks facility and the ARTS CLUB serves light bites drinks and provides entertainment. The edition has a trove of other high standard amenities including a spa with 6 treatment rooms, relaxation area and a full complement of wellness recipes along with a strongly equipped fitness center. A show-stopping roof top deck and pool area are softened by a canopy of trees and colorful flora. So, if you are looking for a fresh new hangout where nearly any amenity is available..... ...........then try the ...............Tampa Edition.......One Handsome Well Endowed Hotel.
Be the first to ReplyWe loved the Tampa EDITION!
Walking into the Tampa EDITION is like walking into a tropical paradise. The lobby is stunning and smells amazing. Hunter, who checked us in was terrific. The room itself was lovely if not overly spacious. The shower in the bathroom however was large and the cleanest I think I've ever experienced. Two sinks would have been nice and there was room for 2. We wish the hotel had notified us that the Lighting were playing at Amalie Arena directly across the street as that make getting to the hotel very difficult and parking a nightmare for the attendants. So if you are going don't go when there is something at that Arena if you are driving.
Be the first to ReplyLooks Were Deceiving
Short Summary: Beautiful hotel and great location, but looks were deceiving. The service was severely lacking. Being a property that advertises themselves as a 5-star hotel that charges 5-star rates and prices, the come up very short on the service category. We arrived with excitement to see this new beautiful hotel and left with buyer's remorse. My wife and I seek out 5-star properties because we enjoy that experience, and don't mind paying for it, but Tampa Edition missed the mark significantly, in our eyes. ---------------------------------------------- We were thoroughly impressed the moment we valeted our car and walked through the doors... wow! We thought the lobby was absolutely gorgeous with all of the greenery and beautiful winding staircase. We were in a suite (living room & bedroom) and overall was very pretty. It probably could have used a few more pictures or accessories to spruce things up a bit, but the bathroom closet and shower are way too crammed together. We were constantly shuffling around each other when getting ready and also the coffee maker rarely worked. 4.5 stars on the room for those reasons. Service Experience: We got in late the first night so we went straight to the room to drop off our things and went down to The Market to grab some dinner. We were sat outside and waited 20 minutes just to get someone to bring us waters. When brought our waters we asked the lady if we could go ahead and put in some drink and appetizer orders and she told us she was assisting the server but would tell the server we're ready to put in some orders. We waited another 20 minutes constantly looking around to get someone's attention with no success. We finally folded, got up, and walked across the street where we enjoyed an excellent dining experience at Boulon (highly recommend). The next morning we woke up and decided to give The Market another try for breakfast. Unfortunately, we pretty much had the same experience on timeliness of service, but rode it out this time. We waited 20-25 minutes to get our coffee and juice we ordered, and the breakfast took about 1Hr 20min start to finish. That would be more understandable for an evening dinner, but for breakfast, especially on a weekday in a city environment, people want to eat a good meal and get on with their day. On our final day we spent the afternoon at the pool. We rarely saw our server and at times had to flag down another server to let her know we wanted to put an order in and another time I just went straight to the bar to order a drink. I ordered the greek grilled cheese & fries and waited well over an hour, maybe 1.5 hours, and it never came out. At that point, I had hit my boiling point with the service issues at this hotel and the excessive amount of waiting for nearly everything... it was painful! I got up and tracked down our server (of course, I had to get up and ask other servers where she was) and asked her to cash us out because we needed to leave to get something to eat. She acted surprised (although I'm sure she wasn't) that the grilled cheese hadn't come out and told me she would get a manager for me to talk to. Never saw the manager. How long can it possibly take to make a grilled cheese and fries... c'mon! We have stayed at the JW Marriott in the past and will elect to stay there during future visits to Tampa. Tampa Edition is new, I'll give them that, but don't advertise yourselves as a 5-star property when you're not prepared to offer that experience. It's deceitful and also not true. I overheard the bartender telling some guests at the bar while waiting to order a drink telling them that they are waiting for their 5-star certification review and would be the first Edition Hotel to receive such a rating. I'm here to tell you, that's not going to happen unless things improve by a mile on the service standpoint.
Be the first to ReplyAverage Property, High Prices
Property looks good from afar, close up it's all smoke and mirrors. It almost feels as if the hotle os trying to be too trendy, designed to look better in instagram pictures than in person. Room was decent and everything is brand new, will have to see how ot holds up. Service at restuwrnats is hit or miss, staff needs a bit more training. What really gets to me is the use of fake plastic plants everywhere. Those beautiful flowers in the pool deck: FAKE, plants in retaurant along sidewalk: FAKE. Why would they do this? In a so called 5 star hotel?

my husband and I are loyal edition clients. we travel to stay at editions when they open in different cities. we went to the first edition that opened in the US in New York, were so impressed we went to the one in Miami, and we have Iceland Edition booked next month. we were excited to try the Edition Tampa as it isn't too far from where we live and wanted to do a relaxing husband and wife weekend away from the kids. upon entering, I was excited about the decor and that it was so beautiful. That's where the good part stops. We had repeatedly requested not only on our reservation but also at check in for a quiet room. Little did we know that just didn't exist. Between all the noise in the hallways in the evenings from people and CONSTRUCTION starting at 7AM on a Saturday!!! there was no way we were destined to get sleep. Furthermore we had dinner reservations one night on property at the rooftop. Truly terrible service for mediocre food. Same with the restaurant in the lobby for breakfast...waited half an hour before coffee was even served (after flagging down the waitress 3 times to ask for it). Because of all the construction the pool was Super unrelaxing --who wants to hear chain saws and metal being cut the ENTIRE time you're trying to sunbathe? zero ambience for what would've been amazing due to the pretty flowers everywhere. don't be fooled by the pictures you see, I would not stay here again. Hope the Edition Iceland is much different than this. Beautiful decor but that's all. Save your money and just come for a drink instead.

Spend the worst 600 dollars for dinner for 2. Terrible service and food. We arrived from Davis Islands, no one opened are door, No one sat us at our table and it was small in the dining area with no privacy. No Michelin star in comparison to the others.

Saw the new edition upon planning a business trip to Tampa. I thought , oh Tampa has a new nice hotel, that’s great, I’ll try it! Even at a super high price ! Terrible idea. Checked in at the front desk at 5pm, one hour after official check in, the front desk agent says; we don’t have a room. I said. Ok when will you have a room for me? “ I don’t know” she says. I say. Ok. Any idea when ? Minutes? Hours ? “ I have no idea when”. So I ask what am I supposed to to? “ wait in the lobby, we will buy you a drink” she says. I said. I don’t I want to wait for hours in a lobby, I’ll find another hotel if you don’t have a room. She says well. Ok. I’ll see if I can refund you since you are already within cancel policy. Anyway. I left. I found another hotel. The entire front desk is clueless. Couldn’t care less. My advice is forget it, I’d rather stay at the Hyatt in the bay or anywhere else.

My wife and I stayed at The Tampa Edition for her birthday weekend late January at the recommendation of some good friends. The hotel itself is immaculate and you are surrounded by beautiful decor and live plants everywhere you look. The staff was overall incredible and efficient even on a busy weekend. We had some amazing meals as well at Lilac, Azure and Market which are surely some of the best places to have a good meal in Tampa. The room was extremely nice with great gold accents in the bathroom that really stood out. I would highly recommend checking this place out!

Amazing experience. The staff here is exceptional. Everyone was helpful and friendly. Special shout out to Will from bell service, Nhat of AC and the punch room. Sama from customer experience. Peter from room service. David from Lilac and Alex in Azure. You all made us feel special while we were here. Fantastic service! The rooms are large and well appointed. They put thought into every detail. The mini bar was clutch and room service was first class. This whole resort blends modern and historic Tampa with its themes and food. Azure is a great spot for dinner or lunch. We had the Greek salads with Shrimp and pita dip. Place is beautiful with exception views of downtown. Market was also a good lunch spot and the coffee bar is top notch. Lilac is one of the best restaurants we have ever eaten at. It’s a 5 course meal that takes you on a culinary journey that’s unmatched in Tampa in my opinion. The location is perfect right across the street from Amalie arena and in the heart of the channel district. Amazing resort!!!
Be the first to ReplyFound this in my room the other day tucked under the bed did some digging and this is this OMG gross & disturbed
I couldn't believe it when I see a slight green cloth just tucked under the bed when I sat my luggage down. Never will I stay at any Marriott I did a little digging and the shirt is not from a past guest like I thought at first but a shirt to a company that Is sub contracted by JFW Marriott in waterside to clean floors in the rooms on a normal basis. Wow the smell was something hard to explain can't put what it would be but wasn't pleasant by any means. And made me gag when I picked it up to toss I complained to some younger female a the front but acted as if it was not a big enough situation to be bothered with, this is even more of company is a problem with me to know they needed no slack on the situation as a whole. And as I see it a company hired a sloppy company with come to find out was most like the owner of the company that was last cleaning that floor . I didn't let it go while there I asked around a lot to other members of there staff . Luckily that was the only positive. Not all members of the staff is as rude as the one I felt with In the beginning but I want the company to be shined on as well ..and hope they get a call and held accountable for there actions . Company #1 under review but Fletcher restoration Fletcher Restoration is located at 2346 Timbercrest Cir S, Clearwater, FL 33763 .

In the middle of a fantastic, 4-day stay here at the Tampa Edition. It’s uncanny, how wonderful the staff are at Edition Hotels; they are uniformly and almost unequivocally phenomenal. They must have an extraordinary training/selection program because they beat-out Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Rosewood, and Ritz Carlton; not even a close second. Even the Security Staff are amazingly warm, and friendly. Special mention to Mark, one of the Managers at Valet/Front Services- he’s fantastic. All that being said, the stay didn’t start off right due to noise issues. This hotel is unique in that they have “nightclub” type venues on the first/second floor and then again on the ninth floor. Rooms are floors 3 through 8, so if you are right below the ninth or right above the second, depending on where you’re located, you might hear some thumping, music from within your room throughout the day, and then certainly into the evening. I’m sensitive to noise but didn’t think I’d have an issue here because I’ve stayed at two different Edition properties in New York City and neither were problematic for me. That being said, after shuffling to a couple different rooms, and losing most of my first night's sleep, one of the Front Office Managers- Ricardo Sanchez stepped in and made everything right. He is a gift to the Hotel and to the Company. Before he intervened, my plan was to check out and move to a different hotel. This is the only five-star hotel in the Tampa area and I highly recommend it. However, if you’re noise sensitive, just try to stay in the center of the hotel towards the backside (non water view). Two other things of note: the shower water-pressure here was phenomenal; what a refreshing change from today’s typical nonsense, hotel shower trickles. Secondly, Tampa is an awesome city!
