We love fine dining in the city but this experience did not measure up. We expected so much more. Decor and ambiance were lovely but honestly the food was very mediocre and we were so disappointed. Service was good but when the food is underwhelming it's a one and done for us. There are so many great French restaurants in nyc this just isn't it. I was so hoping for a new go to in midtown too.

Okay so I was super full from NYC eats we had a late lunch filling lunch a few hours before our dinner reservation here on the same day. I had multiple glasses of champagne and the escargot appetizer it was tasty but I was so full I only ate 3 out 6 of those little snails and a few bites of my hubby's foie gras appetizer which was amazing. I would definitely revisit if NYC again with a bigger appetite. Our French Chef friend recommended this restaurant to us. The service was excellent and ambience was nice as well.

The Tarte flambรฉe was anything but Alsatian, (was told by our waiter that it was "modify" to please the American consumers). So don't call it Alsatian or Flambรฉe!). The traditional cassoulet was not better. Dry and rancid, the meat cooked separately from the beans and assembled at time of service. There are more but I'll stop there. Not in a habit of complaining but didn't like my stomach wakeup call at 2am. So sad! PS: Super nice and welcoming staff. 5 stars

While in NY we went to this restaurant on the recommendation of my sister who has been there before. The atmosphere was great and the service was wonderful. Also of course the food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant

The service was impeccable! It's easy to pick a wine since they have a sommelier on deck to help you through the process, based on your selections and your budget. Stayed away from the finger foods and shared the apps (soup and flarbread) and dessert (soufflรฉ). The entrees were delicious (we got the pumpkin risotto and the duck). All the portions were very generous and we left stuffed. Staying until closing (oops) we got Madeline's on the house freshly baked which were delicious!!!!

We stopped here unplanned--and were so happy that we did! They don't have a kids menu posted but they do have kids cheeseburgers and fries or pasta, which was perfect for them! The drinks were delicious and the skirt steak was perfect! We sat outside and had a nice heater on us, so we were comfortable. The service was exceptional! Would definitely come back!!

Delicious. Really enjoyed the skirt steak with bordelais sauce, dover sole, escargot, onion soup, etc. Nice interior as well.

The positives are undoubtedly the service and the decor, both of which were impressive and worthy of praise. The food, however, was extremely disappointing, bland, and unnecessarily overpriced. It was a very lackluster Thanksgiving meal. I never want to come to a French restaurant and have to add heaps of salt and pepper just to get an ounce of flavor -- French food isn't known for it's blandness. My husband didn't even finish his main course. I will give them credit for their desserts, as well as their espresso martinis; however the latter of which is getting a positive review more so for the strength of the drink rather than the taste.

I was so excited to experience Alain DuCasse and was a guest of an out of town friend. What a disappointment! I ordered the (tiny serving of, as it turned) out halibut. It arrived like warm. The waiter was very apologetic and 10 mins later brought me another piece. It was hot, but not good. The consistency was very watery and a good 1/8 of it was the grey part that was unpleasantly fishy. I didn't want to make a big deal of it, since I was a guest. First of all, when you bring out a luke warm dish that is supposed to be hot and then have to take it back, the least you could do is offer a complimentary glass of wine. Or something! To sit there waiting while your dinner companion is eating is not acceptable at a restaurant of this alleged caliber. The waiter was very friendly and the fries were good. But the fries are good at McDonald's, for a 1/4 the price. I wonder what's happening in that kitchen. I wasn't impressed, especially at that price point. Monsieur DuCasse would not have been happy.

Despite initial hesitation due to some mixed reviews, my partner made a reservation, and I'm delighted we decided to give this restaurant a chance. We started with the delicious vichyssoise as an appetizer, followed by perfectly cooked filet mignon and skirt steak--both delightful. The service was impressively fast, efficient, and pleasant. We wrapped up the meal with the indulgent crรจme caramel and apple pie, both generously portioned, necessitating a to-go bag. At $237, it was a fantastic dinner, and I look forward to returning on my next visit to NYC.

This was one of Director John Hughes' favorite restaurants in Manhattan. He passed away outside heading West on 55th st. I wonder if anyone who works here remembers that? Anyway, the food is awesome and it is beautiful inside and out.

5 stars. Came in for lunch with coworkers to quiet venue with a very attentive friendly staff. The food was excellent and all about the presentation. At the table, we had a croque-monsieur, duck, chicken and pasta of the day. Everything was delicious. No body finished their meal and could have definitely brought home leftovers. One negative was that we had ordered the framage but it came out after some of our food did and no one touched any of it. Another small complaint was that the non-alcoholic drink menu wasn't presented with the regular drink menu and we had to ask for that separately. BTW, the non-mocktails were fantastic and I highly recommend everyone give those a try.

I stopped by on a whim intending for a quick bite and pleasantly enjoyed four excellent courses. Great foods, drinks, and service.

Ambiance: a lovely mixture of traditional and contemporary. The food: impeccable. Service: attentive but unobtrusive. The Tarte Flambรฉe was flaky and flavorful. The Quenelles de brochet with sauce Nantua perfectly done. My wife enjoyed her Poulet rรดti, moist and tasty. Dessert was the Traditional vanilla millefeuille, a delicate layered delight. All in all an enjoyable dinner.

Our first time visiting and we had excellent food and good excellent service. We had the octopus appetizer, then chicken, steak and duck for mains. The wine recommended was excellent and the small cheese puffs that they place on the tables were delicious. They asked us if we were going to a show afterwards and we're conscientious about getting us our food and bill in a timely fashion.

Benoit continues its tradition of great food and amazing service. If you love French cuisine, there's no place better in NYC.
Be the first to ReplyMy first time dining solo and I enjoyed it very much.
Complimentary cheese puffs make you smile and start your appetite. I ordered the Mushroom soup, which contains mushrooms pureed, with wild mushrooms, a poached egg, and hazelnuts (i asked for no hazelnut). I enjoyed the delicious hearty soup. paired with Fleurie Les Marrans a fruit-forward wine. I concluded my meal with one scoop of lemon/mint sorbet. I will return again and I will be sure to take photos next time. I enjoyed the meal that much.

Disappointing and was hoping for much better for a birthday celebraion. Nothing special about preparation or taste. More like you might find in a brasserie or bistro. The onion soup was salty. Everything else was seriously bland. We were a party of six.. Long wait for drinks and courses. Filled up on the crispy bread which was very good. Finally I was hoping for redemption with the desserts. It was not to be.

Really enjoyed the food as well as did the members of our group of 6. I poultry reti. The sauce around the chicken was very good. It could have used a little more sauce. My grandson got the liver and he has never had liver before and he ate it all. My niece got the snails that she enjoyed them and the filet was phenomenal. We had the chocolate soufflรฉ a perfect finish to the meal.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was okay (not bad not too good).
But I felt being discriminated against at this place. My friends and I were speaking in our native language. The staff there assumed we were foreigners on vacation while we both work and live in New York and has been living around the area for quite a long time. It wasn't a pleasant experience.

Overdue review of visit ~1 year agoFood (1/2): Had foie gras terrine (w/ truffle, brioche, and red onion), shrimp ceviche, escargot, and cassoulet. The foie gras was great--an interesting take with the red onion as it cuts through the creamy richness of the foie gras. Brioche was incredibly crispy and crunchy yet soft and light once in your mouth. Shrimp ceviche was also great and refreshing. Escargot was very standard--a bit too much on the parsley, causing it to taste a bit too bitter. The cassoulet was humongous in portion. It was very filling, creamy, and hearty. However, a big deterrent for me was the extreme saltiness of the dish, especially the pork belly. I was unable to eat them without forcing myself due to how salty it was.Service/wait-time/cleanliness (2/2): Service was great, timely, and cleanliness was impeccable. Price (0.5/1): As a whole, I think it was decent, but I was just incredibly disappointed at how salty the cassoulet was and I had expected so much more out of them.
Be the first to Reply3 stars cuz cassoulet is great.
Had duck second time and was bland and boring. Service stunk. Got my meal ย 15 mins after everyone. No apologies. Im ok with mishaps but you need to acknowledge. Me and bro ordered drinks for desert that never came. Went with my mom early everything was great seems like they cant handle busy rush
