Good food with fair service
Had their famous chicken . Included on the package for our group was soup , vegetables and sweet sour pork. Food was tasty. Service was quick since we had ours pre ordered.

Pleasantly greeted at door and ushered to a table for two. A chair was quickly provided for my large bag. We requested drumsticks for our chicken rice for two and dish of succulent pieces came atop some cucumber slices. Though we're very fond of the deep-fried soyabean cubes, settled for the naibai with gluten. Both dishes were delicious though seasoning (chilli sauce, rice, soup in the veg n gluten dish) was a bit heavy for our bland-preference palates. Rice is served in very small bowls so if you like, can order more plain rice to go with seasoned dishes. There's a wide variety of other zichar dishes so very good for large groups. There's a 10 per cent service charge and 8per cent GST but bill came to a very reasonable $34 or so minus the chargeable wet towelettes. Checked tablecloths and paper lantern lamps make for a nice 70s decor, so comfortably nostalgic as this is the original store nicely done up.
Be the first to ReplyGreat weekend lunch!
I brought my family for a lunch, it was full packed on a weekend as always but it was always worth it. Fantastic Chicken Rice, probably one of the best in Singapore.
Be the first to ReplyA flavorful journey
Their famous Hainanese chicken rice was perfectly cooked and flavorful, paired with a variety of delectable side dishes. The crispy fried tofu and stir-fried greens were exceptional. The warm and attentive service added to the cozy ambiance of the restaurant. The only downside was the limited seating, but it didn't take away from the overall great food and experience. Highly recommend this restaurant for a taste of authentic Singaporean cuisine. Rating: 4*
Be the first to ReplyNice for other dishes too
I'd say the chicken rice a bit overrated. Chicken is bland but its good the rice is not oily! Pork ribs, crispy tofu are very good.
Be the first to ReplyChicken and more
Brought some overseas friends to sample some of the dishes. We had half roast and half boiled chicken. The vegetables, tofu, seafood in yam were ok. Service average. Value and pricing also ok, $40 per pax
Be the first to ReplyDelicious
We used to visit this area and we interested with this restaurant because it always looks full. We had to queue at that time. I took lunch here with my wife and we ordered chicken, egg and some others. All food were very delicious. Service also good. Food ready quickly.
Be the first to ReplyWorst chicken rice! A plate of $4 hawker Center chicken is much better! Do not visit!
I had a friend from China and wanted to eat chicken rice! I bought them there! I was quite skeptical going there because I already heard that standard had dropped! I ordered half chicken, vegetable and prawn rolls! The chicken is so tough and tasteless and there is a smell! Frankly speaking I do not know if they are fresh! The rice was lukewarm and not fragrant! The prawn roll was not good too! Vegetables were ok! Overall experience was bad considering the price we were paying! I reckon there are many stores you can better chicken rice! If you are a tourist, do not patronise this stall and the branches! Their standard had dropped so much that as a singaporean i felt so embarrassed to bring a foreign friend to dine there! Please do not eat there! This is my warning! Itโs overpriced and lousy food! There are better and cheaper choices in hawker Centers!
Be the first to ReplyHorrible service & way overpriced
Bad service. I order the signature 1/2 chicken for one $7 with a$1 cup of rice. Chicken was freezer cold & most 5 bites. They did not give you a napkin but had a little wipe packed laying on the table that they charge.30 cents for $8.80 total plus 10% service fee & 7% GST total of $10.35 for 5 small bites of bad food.

Be the first to ReplySingapore's no. 1 chicken rice!!
Finally tried BTK - famous for being the no.1 chicken rice in Singapore. Its extremely good, rice was flavorful, chicken was glistening and chill was really nice.
Be the first to ReplyChicken Rice is not worth the visit anymore
Voted as number 1 hainan chicken rice in town. Itโs the first place on my list to visit after flying in from overseas . How has it fallen so much. Chicken was bland and rice too salty . Disappointing . Also there is no service . The staff just gave a canโt be bothered attitude .
Be the first to ReplyI'm getting ready for some hate replies here !
I came because the place was highly recommended and it (used to?) get a bib gourmand from michelin. I have been in singapore for 5 years and the chicken rice is among my top3 dishes in town.
The good: The chicken itself was surprisingly juicy and good. The service was also friendly which does help.
The not so good: the rice was not particularly tasty [it felt almost like white rice], it didnโt come with any chicken soup on the side [even after i asked explicitly], and most worrying of all the chilli sauce had a light but definite sweet taste. To me the chilli sauce makes or break the chicken rice, and this one kind of broke it.
Overall it was ok but a disappointing experience given my expectations. I believe that the stall of Tong Fong Fatt is still the best chicken rice in town.
Overpriced and unsatisfying
This well-known chicken rice chain may still draw the crowds for dining in but their takeout service provides the most miserable portions of chicken pieces served with rice. Overpriced and utterly unsatisfying.
Be the first to ReplyCharged $10.30 for this take away meal. Disappointed
Disappointed with this branch at Clementi . Charged $10.30 for this meal. Asked for thigh, came with 5 miserable pcs. Standard dropping by the day. Wonder if the owner does mystery checks on the quality. Hope they do.
Be the first to ReplyMost Awful Online Order Experience
Definitely most awful online order experience I have ever encountered. Called the Balestier outlet to clarify inclusion of 4 person set meal in Boon Tong Kee website on 8 Feb 2021 at 21:08hr, the staff answered the call simply told me he doesn't know Boon Tong Kee has online order arrangement, after asked me many questions, the said staff put me on hold for 3 min, after which told me nobody in the restaurant knnew anything about online order! Eventually he suggested me not to proceed to order Boon Tong Kee online.. Amazingy horrific staff! Boon Tong Kee is paying salary to make staff chase customers away from ordering.
Be the first to Reply1st time visit & enjoyable lunch
It is my 1st time to BTK after living here for 18 years :)
My friends highly recommend the Hainaese chicken rice whic is their favourite.
The restaurant has extended their menu over the years to cater for larger crowds preference.
On the visit day, we (4pax) ordered
#1 whole steam chicken
#2 signature fried tofu
#3 fried kangkong with sambal
#4 spinach soup with 3 version of egg (century egg, salted egg & normal chicken egg).
Since i am practicing non meat eater, hence i did not try the chicken but my friends enjoyed it very much.
All in all it was a good place to eat & affordable price.
An ideal to bring oversea visitors to try out one of Singapore national dishes.

Comfort food for such trying times
Comfort food for such trying times. The chicken, condiments and rice are good of course. The other dishes are commendable - soup, tofu, vegetables, sweet sour pork etc.
Nice Chicken Rice Combo Meal!
Ordered its combo meal via food delivery service. The food is well presented with high quality cutlery. I liked its chicken rice and boiled vegetables (good wok hey taste).
Be the first to ReplyGood chicken rice
we had fun catching up over a late dinner and drinks. The chicken was good, and their steamed eggs were done just right
Do note that they close at 11pm daily, not late into the nights any more.
Cheers ๐ป๐บ.

Be the first to ReplyService in Boon Tong Kee @Tampines Outlet.
I have been feel like eating Boon Tong Kee Chicken Rice for the longest time. So was very excited to go there. So i ordered a lunch promotion meal. The staff didn't check with customers whether which part of chicken they would prefer. So I did want to request but they left us very fast after they we had place an order. So disappointed they served me a breast part of chicken that I hated the most. I didn't enjoyed. Kind of disappointment. I wish they can improve their service by just asking whether which part of chicken the customer prefer, that will be perfect.
