Awesome German Beer and Food!
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner last night! We enjoyed three different German beers, the fun beer hall atmosphere and the delicious wurst on a roll (both the bratwurst and wurzige were tasty). We sat outside and loved being on the marina. I lived in Germany for five years and the food, beer, atmosphere and hot mustard brought back great memories. We’ll definitely be back!

Cute little restaurant/Biergarten right on the water. Lots of beer and wine choices plus mixed drinks. Our dinner consisted of potato pancakes, Wiener schnitzel and Jager schnitzel. Everything was great especially the potato pancakes. The spatzel and red cabbage was definitely homemade. We travel to Germany quite often and this was on a par with what we have had there. Service was also very good and there is outdoor seating. Only drawback was the limited menu but that is understandable for a small business

This is a little hole in the wall right on the water. It serves mainly German food and is known for the beers on tap. Walked over for an early dinner. I had the fish & chips which was a large portion and very tasty. Was not a fan of their tarter sauce. My husband had their burger and said it was good. Nothing over the top or outstanding but good food and fun atmosphere.

I love going to this restaurant. I love the view, the food, the service. The Apple Streusel is SO good! Just a fun place to sit outside and enjoy a water view as well as good German food.

I was so happy to her about a decent German restaurant in Oakland. We checked out the menu online and it looked really great. My favorite German dish, Schweinehaxe (pork knuckle) was on the menu, so it was a no brainer.
The place is located on the water of the Alameda estuary and is very scenic. The beer list was filed with a range of German and Belgian options as well as local brews. Seekking refuge from the overhopped IPAs of the day, I had an amazing malty mai-bock, while the others chose a range of altbier and a schwarzbier.
When our food arrived, yes the schweinehaxe, it was, as expected, typical 'American portions,' enough to fed a family of four. The sauerkraut was authentic and the spaetzle was fantastic. My wife ordered the truffle spaetzle and it was really amazing. But, the star of the show, the pork knuckle, was a massive disappointment. The knuckle is roasted with the skin on to create a nice crackling on the outside, surrounding the tender meat. Unfortunately, the skin on this knuckle was chewy, as if it had been heated in a microwave after the initial cooking, so that what should have been the highlight of the dish, wasn't even touched. The pork itself was decent, but the trauma of chewy pig skin was hard to overcome.
Fortunately, there was some redemption with the struedel, which was very nice, and topped with a caramel sauce and whipped cream.
One final note, the staff, perhaps overwhelmed with reopening, were a bit snarky. Maybe it has just been too long since I moved form the Bay Area and that is the new service standard.
i will likely go back to try other dishes, but avoid the schweinehaxe like it is COVID-19.
Disappointing and hoped for better German cuisine
To us, the setting is the draw. Excellent view and good wine. But that’s where it stopped for us. The schnitzel was one cutlet pounded well but super thin so we know how small this piece of pork was. Also no offer of veal. And for the price, the schnitzel should have been larger. Spaetzle was a bit tough. Cabbage was good and seemed to be made in house. The real downer was the clam chowder. If it was made in house I swear they used a Campbells recipe. Way too much flour and to cover the flour taste something sweet was added- but it was too milky and full of potatoes, minimal clam- it had clam flavor but no clam. Glad we tried the food here. We love German food but this was disappointing. Will stick with Speisekammer in Alameda for sure when here. Maybe it was an off day as Covid has messed up the Cali restaurant world for sure.

A colleague joined me for dinner and we enjoyed the waterfront, along with the calamari appetizer. We both had the fish and chips and the cod was fresh. Ordered the Sauvignon Blanc but would have preferred a Chardonnay. We will be back!

Interesting German place. The sign out front reads something like “Stay away if you have Covid, racism, or homophobia”. Yep, your in California.
I had the Jeagerschitzel and was happy with it. Not the greatest I’ve had but pretty good. The calamari was also pretty good. The view of the bay was nice but the server was under staffed and over worked.
We liked everything about
We liked everything about it.
But there was a table of men that did nothing but curse loudly. This made our nice quite dinner on the water unpleasant.
Dinner
Location very pleasant on marina. Service good and attentive.
I was disappointed in quality of food. Potato pancakes so over fried there was no potato taste apparent. Iced tea was stale with fermenting taste. Coffee was, for want of a better word "bad".
The entree was OK, pork roast that was somewhat over cooked.
I might try again, but select different foods, perhaps the sausages.
