So good in Soho.
This place is fantastic. Had one each of the vegetarian and vegan set menu - which is basically everything on the menu - and every plate was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff and good atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.

We visited last Saturday night and had a brilliant time! Between the four of us we had the vegan and the vegetarian set menus and the food was excellent! So tasty and different and my three meat eating friends agreed! Also, really welcoming, helpful service from all the staff and a lovely atmosphere too. Iāve been before for lunch and it was even more gorgeous for an evening meal. I just wish it was nearer to home!

Good grief this restaurant is fantastic. We had set menus and a few suggested lovely things, best hummus ever and cracking aubergine things, great service and a fab meal. Book!
Be the first to ReplyFlavoursome Middle Eastern small plates
I would definitely recommend booking here - we managed to get a table only a few days in advance, but the restaurant was consistently full while we were there. We tried some really great dishes - the oyster mushroom skewer and spongy laffa were particular highlights, especially with the burnt butter houmous. The only slight complaint I had was a comment our waitress made: I completely understand that 3-4 small plates per person is recommended, but calling our six small plates and three portions of bread for three people 'a nice snack, rather than a meal' felt a bit condescending.
Be the first to ReplyGood but not great
First visit and had the set menu vegetarian (other option set vegan). The food was good and there was more than enough - drinks were decent too. The downside was that a lot of dishes were drenched in oil which seemed unnecessary. Visited the loo and got into a queue (there are 2 single unisex facilities) which I never like doing. So the oil and loo queue probably marked it down by a point. We both agreed that we enjoyed it but wouldnāt return.
Be the first to ReplyVegan feast set menu - wow loved it
We went for the Vegan feast set menu and it was a feast all right. As a vegan I love eating out and trying something different. Thanks we loved all the dishes, staff were great. We will be coming back again.
Be the first to ReplyBubala really knows best!
We visited Bubala for our anniversary lunch and we werenāt disappointed. I had seen the halloumi with black seed honey on instagram a few times and I was dying to try it for months! We visited on a Sunday 17th around 13:40 and were welcomed by a lovely hostess on arrival all smiles, I didnāt catch her name but she had the best light denim jeans on with a white pattern all over them, we didnāt have a reservation before arrival, but I had been trying to secure one with their online booking system that gives you text alerts when a table becomes available but I was unable to. We had to wait around 20mins for a table as the restaurant was full and a few tables were saved for existing guests that were due to arrive. While we waited we decided to pop to the hummingbird bakery just around the corner to get our favourite cupcakes and circle back for 2pm when she said she could get us seated. She took us to our table and told us our waitress would be with us shortly. As soon as we were seated our waitress came straight over and introduced herself her name was BETH, she gave us menus, asked if we had been before and if we wanted the menus explained to us, which we said yes to! Her knowledge was fantastic for the questions we asked. She asked if we would like some still or sparkling water, we chose still and she brought it straight over and gave us a few minutes to decide what we were going to go for. We decided to go for the vegetarian set menu āBubala knows bestā with an extra side of batata harra potatoes as set menus with sharing plates donāt tend to fill us up, but honestly we didnāt need the extra side! The set menu is more than enough food! It was plate after plate of absolutely divine food made with the best ingredients. The unique flavours of each dish just worked so well with complimenting one another. And oh my goodness THE FRESH LAFFA BREAD that was soft and crispy at the same time is unlimited, it was so good that I wanted to be cheeky and ask take a whole stack home with me! When you look at the set menu it is categorised into three sections and this is how the dishes come out to you. In three little bundles, this was my only gripe I had because Iām one of those people who likes to mix and match, and when I got to the āthird courseā I was sad I didnāt have any labneh or houmous to eat with those dishes. I completely understand though as the tables are quite small and all the dishes from each course wouldnāt be able to fit on the table! The next time I visit Iām definitely going to enquire if the set menu can all be brought at the same time and weāll just forfeit our plates and eat straight from the dishes! :) All in all OUTSTANDING service from BETH we were so pleased to have met her. Fantastic, fresh and tasty food from the kitchen, and all the staff we encountered were very polite! We canāt wait to visit again!
Be the first to ReplyWOW!
a wonderful experience - had the labneh, hummus, carrots, halloumi, salad & latkes to share with a glass of orange wine. the labneh, hummus & carrots were the real standouts for me. great service, great food & great atmosphere with a super reasonable price tag for quite a hefty lunch! a must visit when youāre in spits :)
Be the first to ReplyGreat Middle Eastern food!
Visited the Soho branch for an early dinner this evening with friends. We booked a few weeks ago but could only get an early slot so we assumed the restaurant must be good! We werenāt proven wrongā¦ the food was very tasty and the ambience was nice. My only suggestion would be that they offer the āBubala knows bestā set menu (for Ā£42pp) individually, rather than the whole table having to order it. I really wanted to try this to get the full experience but my friend didnāt, so I wasnāt able to order it on my own. The service was good and we thought the price was reasonable for what we had! The restaurant interior is also decorated nicely.
Be the first to ReplyBest meal in a long time!
Genuinely best meal Iāve had in a long time. We did the set menu and every item was so delicious and there was so much food! Buzzing atmosphere and would highly recommend!

Beyond amazing - food, service and lovely ambience. Set menu Ā£29 vegan or vegetarian and the portions were very generous Defiantly worth a visit
Be the first to ReplyA treat for the tastebuds
The food is just extraordinary. I would not have thought it possible to conjure up so many flavours. I canāt wait to come back. Service was so friendly, good range of wines that work well with the food. Excellent.

Delicious food, great service, lovely staff in a chilled atmosphere. Amazing to have such choice for vegetarian/vegan food.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional lunch - gold standard food and fantastic hospitality!
Brilliant would be an understatement! The team absolutely blew it out the park and served us a feast. The food looked amazing and tasted even better. The mix of options were kaleidoscopic, complementing each other so well - you can tell they take so much care and attention in the food they serve. The whole team went above and beyond to make our lunch possible, and we are incredibly grateful. It's the kind staff at Bubala that make the world a better place. Very very very happy customers - couldn't recommend enough for any occasion.
Be the first to ReplyUncomfortable, stressful dining
We visited theSoho branch in high hopes having read all the good reviews. As a party of 5 we were seated at the only large table space in the restaurant, a wooden picnic table quite tricky to access for a chap with larger feet so already comfort was out the window. The remainder of the experience was at no point relaxed. The waitress kept hassling us for our order and appeared somewhat miffed one of our party was almost 10 minutes late. We were informed 2 of us couldn't enjoy the tasting menu despite the fact we were sat next to one another. Everyone in the party had to have the same (it would be handy if this was made clear on the website) so selecting from the a la carte menu took a while longer which also seemed to displease her. One of our party having been denied access to the sharing menu decided theyād just choose a couple of dishes for themself and not share dishes which the waitress snippily remarked on during service and a little later when they covered their wine glass so as not to have it refilled at that point she obviously took that as a sign they no longer wanted to drink wine and swiped it from the table the next time she passed so another had to be requested. Iāve never eaten anywhere a member of the waiting staff endeavoured to dictate how diners ate. I began to wonder if she was paid by the number of table covers in a night. Suffice to say we left well before our time elapsed. With regard to the food most was tasty if not great excepting the spongy roasted celeriac and the latkes both of which were deplorable and only eaten because we weee starving. Some of the plates eg skewers are shockingly small. It is a shame that I made such a poor selection of restaurant for what was a special celebration meal.

Absolutely excellent food. The Baba Ganoush was just superb and all served with a smile. Waitress couldnāt do enough for us. Smashing restaurant.
Be the first to ReplyWhat a disappointment on February 14 !!!
After returning from Tel Aviv we were missing wonderful Israeli food and decided to come to Bublala for a Birthday lunch. Firstly there was no normal size of hooks on the wall where you can hang your coat without touching floor. Apparently you can only visit this place in a jacket or in a short coat, longer coats you have to hold on your knees! The hostess put us at the bar though there were plenty of tables available. After a while I asked if we could move to one of the tables. They agreed. One side if the table is the bench which is much higher than a small table across and you feel like a midget. I asked a waitress again if I can sit at the next table on the same level with my daughter since no one seating there. She went to check availability and then happily said : āof corse! Go for it! ā Moved again! Just as we we were about to relax another waiter/ manager(?) said : āthe waitress missed understood and the other table was bookedā. Moved again ! Finely food arrived : there were 5 dishes, only 3 of them were eatable. Potato latkes were absolutely disgusting! Deep fried overcooked pitiful pieces potatoes that were cooked maybe āa yearā ago. Braised Hispi cabbage was soaked in vinegar with such strength that made you sickā¦ On the top of all they had nerve to include service charges of more than 10% plus ācarbon free diningā - what ever it means without even asking our permission! I am very sorry that I silently had to pay the bill and not to make a deep conversation with the owner or a manger as I didnāt want to creat unpleasant atmosphere in my daughterās birthday.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent food and service, reasonably priced
We went for the āBubula knows bestā vegetarian set menu, and glad we did. We were brought pickles, flatbread, and dips pretty much as soon as we sat down, and the service was fantastic throughout the evening. Not sure if it was because we had the set menu, but pretty much as soon as we finished a dish, we were brought another, although thankfully there was a nice gap between the starters and mains. Every dish was flavourful and fresh. The charred oyster mushroom skewers were unbelievable, the flatbreads and dips were just lovely, and every plate had something different and was incredibly enjoyable. Couldnāt recommend enough, fantastic service and even better food, will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyExcellent vegetarian restaurant
Great place for vegetarian food. Nicely prepared and served. Excellent service. Its a busy place. Reservationsseems to be a sensible thing to do.
Be the first to ReplySensational meal for veggies, vegans & meat eaters alike
Incredible experience at Bubala. We had quite a late table at 9pm and it was still buzzing there. The food was sensational. As a table of 5 with a mixture of vegans and non-vegans we got a mix of the two menus and boy am I glad that that we did! Standout dishes from both set menus include the burnt butter hummus (vegetarian) with pine nuts and the aubergine (vegan). We were seen to by an extremely personable front of house member (didnāt catch his name) but he recommended some lovely wine to come with the meal! Will definitely come back - either here or to the Soho branch.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful lunch
Absolutely loved it! We visited the Soho restaurant and from the moment we were greeted by the friendly front of house staff to the waiting on staff we were treated brilliantly. The food was exceptionally good, quality ingredients mixed with no little skill produced delicious dishes. We went for the āBubala Knows Bestā option and weāre delighted, the smashed cucumber was outstanding! All in all a great experience and one we shall most definitely repeat. Itās hard to find that balance of friendly but professional service, great atmosphere and fantastic food but Bubala Soho has cracked it. Thank you
Be the first to ReplyOverrated
The service was friendly but the food was overrated in our opinion. The hummus was not particularly enjoyable and we found a lot of the food far too rich, so it was a struggle to get through. This is one of the only times weāve left food at a restaurant! Some of the food seemed pretty basic for what it was - especially the chicory salad. We had asked to swap the mushroom skewers for the falafel option, as our waitress offered any swaps between the veggie and vegan set menu. Unfortunately, due to staff not appearing to have set tables, this request was forgotten about. The wine was enjoyable and appreciated being allowed to finish this at the bar after our table was needed for another booking.
Be the first to ReplyGreat, even for a non-vegetarian
Incredible restaurant, and Iām saying that as a meat lover. Everything I had was fantastic. Iāll never forget the burnt butter hummus, best hummus I ever had. The halloumi in honey was great, not the chewy salty halloumi Iām used to. Falafel were also among the best I ever had, fresh, moist, perfect. Roast aubergine also excellent, just the right amount of seasoning.
Be the first to Replydisappointing after a big hype
Our daughter was so pleased to be able to book this restaurant for us, pre a show as she had enjoyed her meal at Bubala Spitalfields previously. Sadly we had a disappointing time with our food arriving really very spaced out between dishes (everyone around us had clusters of plates) and so, so slow service, especially tricky when we were against the clock (which the staff knew but we had allowed 75mins). The wine was difficult to enjoy! and we had to leave before our last dish arrived (the one I was most looking forward to). We paid mid meal as the service was so slow! The waiter made a number of mistakes and so did remove one dish cost from the bill and the next day, we received an email confirming a further refund had been given. All great customer service but not sure we will try again at Soho - may Spitalfields as our daughter is determined to share her enjoyment. tbc.
Be the first to ReplyNot as good as they think they are
Thereās a slightly pushy feel to the whole experience here. From reminders on a countdown to when youāre due, to the reminder about your allocated 1h 45min slot - which would be fine if the food arrived in a timely manner. Itās cramped and pretty noisy and theyāve taken shabby chic to a new level, especially in the washrooms which wouldnāt be out of place in a run-down Victorian pub.
Some dishes were more successful than others - the starter/dips were very good - but overall thereās a tendency to add so many seasonings and flavourings that the actual vegetables at the heart of the dishes get completely lost.
There other, better restaurants offering really good food and a much more enjoyable dining experience. Iād suggest you search them out!
