Café Boulud Toronto Reviews
Faultless
Really faultless. Wonderful service and delicious food. We were a group of 6 and lingered a long time. Never made to feel that we should leave. Thoughtful dessert prepared for the bride-to-be. Price point as one would expect for the location in the Four Seasons Hotel.
One of our favourite dining spots in the city
My husband and I dined here on a Saturday night to celebrate his birthday. We’ve been dining here a couple times a year for many years now. This is our favourite ‘occasion’ restaurant in the city. The tables are nicely spaced apart and the decor is elegant. The food is exceptionally good. My husband loved his venison and I enjoyed the boeuf tartare. The service was professional - the servers here are experienced and have been here for years - it’s a well-oiled machine. We didn’t feel rushed - and the sommelier was really helpful. We will be going back to celebrate my birthday in July - can’t wait!
Excellent all around
We dined as a group of 10 on a Monday evening. Overall the meal was exceptional. We sampled a range of an appetizers across the table including hamachi crudo, beef tartare, burrata and the betterave & coing. Each was as good as the other but the hamachi stood out. To follow, our group chose mushroom veloute and an assortment of salads. For our main dishes the choices covered lamb, Dover Sole, angelotti and salmon. Not one of them was better that the other and they were all oustanding. Desert came soon after and we chose between madeleines, molten chocolate cake and one other dish that I don’t recall but was an ‘angel hair’. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and guided our choice of Italian Brunello. The bottles chosen were spectacular Overall this was an amazing business dinner and we would not hesitate to return. I would also come here with family or as a couple. 5/5
Don't go to Cafe Boulud!
I made the fatal mistake in choosing Cafe Boulud to celebrate my 20th Anniversary. We chose the Festive Holiday Brunch - at $95 per person - the portion sizes were miniscule and the service wasn't great. They should really be ashamed of themselves considering the price they are charging! Don't make the same mistake I did - choose one of the hundreds of other options for a great brunch place in Toronto!
Excellent restaurant in Four Seasons Toronto
We always enjoy going to Cafe Boulud for Saturday brunch. I ordered the salad and the Wagyu burger. They had a festive menu with a dessert buffet. All the desserts were delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance is lovely and they don’t rush you when you are in a group.
An Elegant Mother’s Day Celebration at Café Boulud and d|bar
I visited Café Boulud at the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto to celebrate Mother’s Day with a self-treat dinner, joined by two friends. It turned out to be a fantastic choice. The French-inspired cuisine, crafted under the direction of Chef Daniel Boulud, lived up to its renowned reputation. Our waiter elevated the experience by mixing our salad at the table and serving every dish with precision. He struck the perfect balance of being attentive without being intrusive, allowing us to enjoy our private conversations while still ensuring our needs were met. After our luxurious dinner, we wrapped up the night downstairs at **d|bar**, the hotel’s stylish lounge. The atmosphere was vibrant, with a diverse selection of cocktails, wines, and light bites, all curated by Chef Boulud as well. The only area for improvement would be the music selection by the DJ—I would have preferred more up-to-date tracks. Overall, I highly recommend Café Boulud and **d|bar** for a special night out.
Good restaurant
I had a dinner meeting here for work. The food and service were both very good. I'd highly recommend it - especially if you are staying in the area.
Food did not live up to reputation
Having heard about its prestigious reputation, we tried Café Boulud for our anniversary. The décor is tastefully luxurious and the service was friendly, professional and very timely throughout. But we came mainly for the food. My wife’s pea soup and halibut were both excellent, she told me and the rhubarb dessert we each had was superb, as was the bread accompaniment to the meal. But my food was disappointing. I started with the steamed BC salmon with white asparagus. The salmon was totally tasteless (try Atlantic salmon?) and the miniscule slivers of asparagus seemed to be raw and similarly tasteless. The presentation was very pretty, but the only things that had any taste were the sauce and the tiny pea pods. I mark this one down as a dismal failure. Then I had the escalope Viennoise which was okay, but only just okay. It was as tough as nails and I should have asked for a sharper knife to deal with it. It was tasty, but I have had better escalopes off street stalls in Austria and Germany and in our local diner here in Toronto. So, apart from the bread and the dessert, I was very disappointed in the food. They gave us a nice serving of delicious madeleines for our anniversary as well.
Lovely French restaurant in Four Seasons Yorkville
We enjoy going to this restaurant with our big group of friends. The reservation staff is very friendly and the service and ambiance are excellent. We went for a fixed price brunch on a Saturday. There is a variety of appetizers, main dishes and a desert to follow. It is all very filling. I enjoyed my strawberry parfait, Wagyu burger and melting chocolate cake. The madeleines are to die for.
Fancy dining
Fancy dining. Each dish was perfect. Well curated menu and experience. The restaurant is nicely designed. The service is excellent.
Amazing dinner
Amazing dinner. The staff is very friendly and courteous. Extremely professional experience. The food and drinks are always on point. Very delicious!
Nice restaurant
Nice restaurant at the Four Seasons. The food is excellent and the wait staff is extremely professional. Such a fine dining experience.
Poor service and attitude to a regular.
Had a business lunch there today (Fri Jan 19) to celebrate a colleagues retirement. Showed up at 12:26pm for a 12:30 lunch. The two hostesses said we would have to wait to be seated because we were early. I asked if we could just go to the table and was told no. The restaurant was over half empty. We got to the table and the server was terrible. He seemed to not be interested in us because we didn't want wine. Took him a long time to come for our order. He was never there to get more water. I had to ask other serves to get our sparkling water bottle to refill our glasses. Had to ask for bread, which always comes to the table normally. We waited a long time between courses. After mains, our server kept passing us, but would not even look over at us. We finally had to ask another server for coffees. I had to finally ask another server for the bill. Just brutal service. I have been to the restaurant over 100 times in the last 5 years. I supported them through covid and was just treated badly. I usually see 2 or 3 regular waiters that know me, but they seem to all be gone? I don't recommend the restaurant. The service and food is going downhill. Sad to say I don't think I will book it anymore. It's a real shame that they are just trying to live off a name and are clearly not giving service anymore. I would pass on them.
Amazing French restaurant
Really good French restaurant. Got the 3 course pre fixe. Really enjoyed the beef tartare and duck confit.
Lovely French restaurant in Four Seasons Yorkville
We went with a group of friends to this lovely restaurant in downtown Yorkville. The ambiance was lovely and we were taken to our table immediately. We had already spoken to the management regarding wanting to be there over three hours so the server was very cognizant and did not rush us at all. The food was served hot and it was tasty. I did think my special was overpriced the Dover sole but overall I enjoyed eating here as a special treat.
Tasty, beautiful, and very high-end
Woow, very nice French restaurant. The food was amazing, each course was very delicious. The way they served the food was very beautiful. The plates and everything was authentic and beautiful. The service was awesome, very high-end. We made a surprise birthday party for a friend and it was a blast. High recommend. The building itself is very nice and everything is already decorated for Christmas.
Where the Schickeria goes to eat downmarket?
Wanted to enjoy an amazing bfst experience in the luxury of Four Season Toronto. Presentation was very plainly awful. Waiters friendly. The pistachio croissant was so inedible my wife had to admonish me not to spit it out. It was literally disgusting. My cappuccino was as fine but then refilled cheap diner style with drip coffee. What is Four Season thinking? This kind of reminds me of Air Canada’s Hawksworth food. Celebrity chef with outlandishly poor execution.
Good for a one time stop over. Overpriced.
It's ok for a hotel stop over but on a pricey side. Recommend roasted chicken for 2 at 98.00 and skip the tartare as it was tasteless. Not a place that I will frequent a lot. Good wine selection and a 110.00 Willamette valley choices. Skip the rest as it's overpriced and not worth my attention. Cheers!
Second floor gem
Hard to believe this flagship gem is only a 4 out of 5. We had a 5 star experience. Was it expensive? Yes, but was it awesome? Hard yes. Service was impeccable, wine service was spot on. Mains were v solid and the subtle, elegant approach to dinner was greatly appreciated.
Get the giguere chicken
Cafe Boulud’s dinner was delicious and the ambiance was so nice. Service was good as well. For starter we had the lobster | bagna cauda which was amazing. I believe it’s available to be a larger portion should you want it as a main. We also had the BC spot prawn | citrus which was fresh and a nice way to start the meal. They also were generous with the bread basket. My main meal was the giguère chicken | truffle. Wow. It was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. The skin was light and crispy, and the meat soft and cooked perfectly. The entire dish was so balanced. It came with some wild rice and hen of the woods mushroom and it all combined was just amazing. Highly recommend. I have a feeling that if their chicken dish is great, their duck is as well (something to try for next time). The only hiccup was that one of the other people (not our server) giving our food led with “do you want some salt and pepper” before we even had a bite. I felt that gives customers an unconscious expectation that the food they will get is bland when in actuality Cafe Boulud had some of the best food my family has ever eaten so I felt that that was entirely unnecessary at the beginning of the meal. I know they are doing their best to anticipate our needs, but when it comes to food, I think it is best to try it out in respect to the people who prepared it before even grabbing for the salt and pepper. Execution of this could’ve been better. For dessert we had the vanilla | blackberry suggested by our server Aireen. It was so yummy and it was fun when they give it to the table as they pour some warm chocolate over the chocolate dome. They were also so kind to give us some warm madeleines as a treat and it blew our expectations away; we thought a madeleine would be mediocre at best but this was warm, fluffy, and tasty. We also had the chocolate | coffee which was so scrumptious and a delectable way to end the meal.
