Charming French Restaurant in the Marina District
Take the time to utilize the antique lift from the ground level to the dining area. Glass and wrought iron, just beautiful. Just a warning, the walls are bare so sound is reflected and amplified. There was a large group on the opposite side of where we were and we had to talk loud to be able to hear each other. It seemed like they were shouting. We had a nice table next to a window overlooking the yachts in the marina. I started with the Nicoise Salad, which was excellent. Perfectly seared tuna accompanied by sardines, lettuces etc. (I should have asked for extra sardines, not everyone likes them but I do). My wife ordered the escargot. It was quite disappointing, overcooked and slightly bitter. We advised our waiter, who simple shrugged his shoulders. I had the slow braised leg of lamb. I would say it was one of the best legs of lamb I've ever had. Very flavorful and broke apart with your fork. My wife had the Mahi Mahi with braised leeks. The leeks were very good, could have used more. The fish was good but not exceptional. We were also served a cup of mashed potatoes, which were VERY good. If you are a fan of Baba Rum, get the Baba Bouchon. The citrus and pineapple were great additions.

We had heard online and anecdotally from acquaintances that this was the place to go in Atlantis for a nice dinner (even more than Nobu). This was inaccurate at best. The atmosphere of Cafe Martinique has the feel of something nice, but the food very much does not. We went for a dinner as a late-anniversary treat. For what it's worth, the place was nearly empty at 8pm in a very large space. We weren't necessarily expecting much given our overall experience at Atlantis but were hoping for at least something edible. The service was friendly enough but it went downhill from there. The free bread was hard and nearly stale. The mushroom ravioli appetizer was a single largish piece of pasta with some kind of sauce poured on. Both under seasoned and not particularly flavorful otherwise. The mushroom filling had an odd gritty texture and the pasta itself was tough to get through even with a knife. The recommended snapper entree was something to behold. A single piece of fish breaded almost like a cafeteria fish stick with some kind of thick gloppy yellow sauce drizzled around it and the plate in zigzags. It came with a mushroom butter that I wasn't sure what to do with, given the existing layer of sauce and fried breading on the fish. The butter was the most edible part of that dish. My wife had the filet ordered medium. The beef arrived butterflied in half which seemed odd, with some pink still in the middle. It was incredibly tough and chewy, and nearly impossible to get through. Not sure if this was actually filet or if so, whether the chef knew what to do with it. The beef came with a side of mashed potatoes - I also ordered a side for myself. While not quite boxed mix, there was a gluey consistency to it. We passed on dessert and hopefully avoided any kind of free anniversary "treat" we might have otherwise received. We then mercifully left, a couple hundred dollars poorer.

This place is FANTASTIC! Starting with the food: My wife and I were visiting from Alaska, so I feel I know what good fish tastes like...well the snapper at Cafe Martinique just blew my socks off. Highly recommend if you contemplating the menu. Now for the part that justified me writing "Fantastic" in all caps, the service. Bradley and David M. are the real MVP's of Atlantis. The checked all the boxes of good service by making great recommendations and making sure our cocktails never ran empty. But they really went the extra mile by sparking conversation and having fun with us. The cherry on top was when they brought out rose pedals to our table after they found out we were celebrating our honeymoon. Made my wife feel real special, and you know what they say about happy wives... What an awesome place to dine, I highly recommend!

We visited this restaurant many times prior to its closing and then reopening. We looked forward to a return trip over our 2023/2024 stay at the Atlantis. What a disappointment. The New Martinique did away with so many of the signature dishes that made the original Martinique so special. A French restaurant serving sourdough in lieu of French baguettes, a less than appetizing French onion soup, no famous shrimp dijon, or cherries jubilee. Martinique changed for the worst, but we found that our other favorite island restaurant Graycliff was as wonderful as always. We will spend our entertaining dollars there.
Be the first to ReplyOverpriced and very medium service....
Overpriced and bad service, and food was mediocre at best.....go to Graycliff instead for a wonderful experience.

Having had a great experience with a tasting menu at another restaurant, we decided to give cafe Martinique a try. We were last at the restaurant maybe 8 or 9 years ago. It was a very rainy night but we were quickly seated at the bar for a tasty cocktail, then to the restaurant with a great window seat. Service was excellent and we were both very impressed by the delicious food. The stand out items from the (I think 5) tasting courses were the French onion soup and the fish but it was all excellent. We took the wine pairings too which were also good and reasonable value. Overall an excellent experience and well recommended
Be the first to ReplyA charming venue for a light dinner
Walking into Cafe Martinique felt like walking into a place of warmth and comfort. For me it had a New Orleans type of feel. We went for a light dinner that consisted of the mushroom soup a nicoise salad - both done to perfection and ravioli - that wasn't so great. And profiteroles that were delicious. The Manager Mr. Warren Curtis, the Women at theReceptionist desk, the Gentleman that took care of our order, Stefan, were all service persona fide. It was a really lovely evening. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thank you!
Be the first to ReplyWorth a special occasion (?)
We went to Cafe Martinique for my husbands birthday with another couple. The Restaurant is lovely inside. We were seated immediately. Our waiter, Hanford I believe was his name made this special occasion perfect. He was professional, inviting and yet witty. My husband and I ordered the tasting menu. First off my husband loved everything. I was slightly disappointed. The onion soup was nothing special with little cheese if any. The Lobster Cardinal tasted good, (I dont usually like seafood), but it seemed hard for my husband to get out the shell for some reason. The Sea Bream filet was again good, not to fishy. The steak was disappointing, Not well seasoned. Boring. My husband received the duck. I know I tasted it but have no recollection. The Vacherin for dessert was very good but the beetroot on the bottom had a funny texture. (like packed cotton candy). This is not the place to go to if you are a selective eatter. There are not many options. I would not race back to dine there again. If it were not for our waiter making the night full of laughs this review would be two stars less. The price just did not measure up to the food.

Great restaurant with delicious food and wonderful service. A nice upscale restaurant at Atlantis. We loved our meal so much we had to return the next day. Very accommodating for allergies and gluten free options. David M was a fabulous server! Cafe Martinique was a highlight of our trip

We have been dining at Cafe Martinique for the past 10+ years as it was the premium restaurant in Nassau. Tonight was extremely disappointing. The cocktail bar is utterly disassociated from the restaurant with no service concept. The pianist, was cold and made no attempt to connect with her audience. She played loudly, without consideration for where she was. As a couple we normally spend three to four hundred dollars but left after a bill of sixty five dollar bill for starters. Premium prices, McDonald’s service and Wendy’s pride and appearance. Our money is better spent elsewhere from now on.

We read the reviews and were expecting a nice meal. We definitely didn’t get that. When we we’re waiting to be seated, a family left and didn’t look happy. The the hostess took us to our table. After we sat down, we noticed that there weren’t any napkins and the utensils had been moved around. There were also two menus at the table. We questioned it but brushed it off after they bright new napkins and utensils. After we made our selections and put the menus aside to one side of the table, the waiter kept passing our table and didn’t pay us any attention. After we flagged him down and told him that we were ready to order, he said that he thought we were waiting for another person. We all cut down our order because we already talked about eating small and getting pizza afterwards. We placed our order and then realized that all the other tables had plates and place settings. Did we get a recycled table??? We think we did. It was too late to turn back. First of all, the order was wrong. We asked for 2 French onion soups, two orders of ravioli, and one order of French mashed potatoes. We didn’t receive one of the soups. Our food was devoid of taste. There were probably 8 very small pieces of ravioli and it wasn’t very good. The French onion soup didn’t have any cheese. To top it off, one of the soups had onion skins in it. The soup, too, didn’t have much taste to it. Additionally, the butter that was served with the bread, before the entrees arrived, was really hard. It’s like it was pulled straight out of the refrigerator without letting it thaw. The best part of the meal was the wine, and we didn’t get the good stuff. I don’t see us ever going back.

The food was delicious. The staff is friendly, professional and attentive without being over bearing. The service was well paced. Lost a star because my lamb while well seasoned was bit undercooked in the center. The mashed potatoes was SOOO salty that there were inedible. The soufflé's was delicious and heavenly. I would love to see more Caribbean flavors in the menu.

I was so looking forward to eating here. I love french food. What a disappointment. First let me say the service was great and ambience was nice. The food not good. I don't even know how to describe onion soup. Burnt broth with stale cracker in middle. All over fried fish. Profiterole was ice cream sandwich with chocolate sauce on top. Really? Did not know what French Press coffee was. Lot's of money for nothing. Soo disappointing. Unless change of chef avoid.

Be the first to ReplyReally, did not want to leave feedback, but had to...
Since the new chef was hired, and menu changed, this place lost its sole and heart. It is nothing like French. I been to France. It is not even a Carribean twist French. No matter how you call it, or want to twist it, it is not a restaurant food anymore. So: French onion soup? - it is a liquid over some mushed onions, and crouton. The taste is like over-burned onion mash. Escargot - stewed frozen snails - really small. served over hardened melted butter on a tasting plate. Not escargot serviced plate. By the time it comes to table, the butter is soft, not liquid, and taste terrible. Oh, the Vegetable soup - mix of previously frozen bagged veggies dipped in the veggie bullion made with veggie bullion mix. Tastes like water with streamed veggies. Not a soup. Funny, there is a picture of the soup on main page that is NOT served at this place. Niçoise Salad - too much of the anchovies. Basically, this restaurant is almost empty at the busiest time of the season. We visited for 10 years before COVID and we enjoyed it. We visited in October 2022 and complained, and thought something will change, but when came back in January 2023 - Same terrible Cheff and same terrible Food. Do NOT go there. When they let go of the Cheff to training on how to actually cook, and hire someone else, then we will come back.

Amazing dinner. Had to sit at the bar because we hadn't booked. Great atmosphere, great service and great food. ten out of ten. Really impressed. The beef tartar was out of this world.

This was the one resaurant we visited at Atlantis that did not rush us through our dinner. The staff was excellent as was the food. It was the highlight of our dining experience.

My husband and I were pleasantly surprised at our experience here. You felt like you were in a French restaurant in France. The design elements from the French looking elevator to pictures on the wall were perfect. Even though the restaurant is in a touristy place, I wore a dress & my husband wore a jacket. The service we received was outstanding and we loved talking with the owner or manager who checked in to see how experience was going. I ordered the branzino filet vierge and it was delicious. My husband ordered the hog snapper which was also very good. The baba bouchon for dessert was a nice way to finish our meal.

Incredible!!! We’ve been visiting Atlantis for a decade, but have been unable to score a reservation here for a variety of reasons up until now. It was worth the wait! Incredible food and exceptional service! Clearly the BEST restaurant on Paradise Island!

My wife and I liked this place so much that we came twice in a three day period. They had an amazing stone crab claw appetizer.
Be the first to ReplyA wonderful surprise for Nassau, Paradise Island
Absolutely wonderful restaurant. We found it by surprise and ended up coming twice in 5 days. * Menu is very sophisticated with a lot of great options. * Food was delicious, extremely well prepared, well seasoned and * My wife has dairy and gluten intolerance. They were very attentive to offer options and change things. Chef came out and talked to us to discuss each item in the menu that my wife could eat. * The main room and the bar are beautiful, well decorated, it feels really upscale. The fans connected and moved by belts is a nice trip to the past. * The servers were really attentive and did a great job * Best onion soup I've had. I love onion soup, recently was in Paris for a week and had onion soup every day in search for the best onion soup. I found it the Bahamas. * Pan-seared bream is a must! * Great selection of wines and spirits My congratulations to the owner, the chef and all the staff. You have a jewel for the Bahamas.
Be the first to ReplyAwesome!!
Great customer service! We were asked our food preferences as soon as we were seated. One member of the group had a dairy issue; the chef came to the table and went over the menu with her, picking out things that can be adjusted for her! After we placed our order the chef came again to confirm the changes. We had a 5 year old in the group, she wanted apple juice. No apple juice on the menu but our waiter went to a nearby store and got her some juice! A member of our group was celebrating a birthday, the waiters sang an awesome rendition of the birthday song <3 Make sure you order Absinthe for dessert! The process/ show is cool! And it tastes good, very strong anise flavor, similar to Jagermeister... Great overall experience!

Starting with service, continuing on food, and the staff were outstanding. They made you feel important as a customer. Food was extremely good, and the bread for the table was the best I've ever had. Can't say enough good things about this restaurant. A little pricey, but well worth it.
Be the first to ReplyA Very Special Gem!
As long time locals, Cafe Martinique had fallen off our radar. After learning the restaurant is now being managed by the talented and gracious Jennifer Roos, we were motivated to give it a try. What a fantastic experience! In a world of fast-paced gimmicky dining options, Cafe Martinique stands out as a classic upscale gem. The atmosphere is sophisticated old world Caribbean, complete with live piano music filling the entire space. The food was impeccable French style cuisine. We loved the mushroom soup, beef tartare, Dover sole and sea bream. As delightful as the ambiance and cuisine were, the service is what truly seals the deal. Many of the staff have worked there for 20, 30+ years. They quietly and professionally host you through the evening with grace including impeccable table-side preparation of some of the dishes. Their warm hospitality and obvious love of their restaurant makes you feel truly welcome. Shout out to Marciano from Exuma who took excellent care of us. This combined with Jennifer’s vast international experience, including her expert wine suggestions, make for a truly special experience for tourists and locals alike.
