We were so excited to get here and eat some great steak.
We arrived and they served some bread with a 3 condiments (chimichurra, garlic, and another one i didn't taste). We ended up ordering fillet mignon, cooked rare. It was definitely not rare by US standards and not consistent throughout, but the piece of meat was so big, we had enough rare to fill us up. It did not have as much flavor as I expected. Staff was fine, nothing out of the ordinary. my expectations were too high, but I would have probably gone somewhere else.
Be the first to ReplyFood and service were great.
Steak wasn't really seasoned but it and everything else were still good. Ambiance was cute for small parilla.

The pear dessert is TO DIE FOR! We were so glad we found this spot. Lovely meal on their outside terrace area. Great food and Negroni cocktail. but save room for that dessert. It was SO good.

I had an amazing, memorable, experience last year at Calden del Soho, in Palermo Buenos Aires. A real authentic Argentinian Parrilla. This was no tourist place, An old fashion, authentic, Argentinian steak house, that served incredible Asado. As I entered it I felt warmth and welcomed. it had an old world, classic feeling to it. I believe I was the only tourist there. The service was incredible, the prices were very down to earth, and the quality of the food is something I carry with me for a long time. I was treated like the long-lost cousin. The owner got me a bottle of wine from his own private stash. The waiter couldn't do enough for me and the food was unbelievable. I had an amazing time in Buenos Aires. My experience at Calden del Soho was one of the most memorable ones. I totally miss and appreciate this place as I do for the whole magical city of Buenos Aires. Muchísimas gracias, mi amigo
Be the first to ReplyThis place is all about the steak.
Our large party (12) may have strained them a bit but the service was adequate although I felt cramped. The noise level was ok. My NY strip was very good but others complained the meat was not cooked as ordered. The sides were good.
Be the first to ReplyFantastic and so affordable (exchange rates, amirite?).
Great service, not nearly as crowded as places that aren't actually as good or authentic. My giant son and I got everything plus two bottles of excellent wine, barely hit $150US.

I'm a pescatarian these days, but I always want to do the thing to do in the place to do it. It seems like a steakhouse is the thing to do. I found Calder del Soho on TripAdvisor, it has 4 1/2 stars, 2,800 reviews and was a 15 minute walk from our hotel. They take reservations on Google maps but since it was the day of the only reservations they had available were at 10pm so we took our chances and walked over at 8:30. When we arrived we were greeted by a man in a t shirt outside who we were unclear if he worked there or not, but then he asked how many and brought us over to an open table so I guess he did work there. The restaurant was about half full when we arrived and still was half full when we left. Right away a waiter dropped off a bowl of breads and a platter of some spreads including whole pieces of garlic. We immediately devoured the bread and enjoyed all 3 spreads. We each ordered a water and split a mid level bottle of Malbec that was very good. We then opted for the "entree" of steak which included a side. My potatoes were sorta air fried potatoes, I actually enjoyed my friend's more she got the creamy potatoes. Both of us enjoyed our steaks medium rare, seemed cooked exactly correct with a little charring on the outside. It was a little tough to cut but honestly I don't even know if that's how steak is supposed to be? I'm glad we opted to not get an appitizer, between the free bread and our meal I was totally full and glad I had some room to finish my plate. After dinner we got a free glass of champagne. Overall good food, good service and good wine all for 75,000 ARS.

This is a small wonderful steak house! The staff is friendly, the ambiance is pleasant, the tables are not very close to each other and the food is amazing! The tenderloin was huge and cooked perfectly! The wine list is also good.
Be the first to ReplyOne of the best steakhouses! The service was fast.
The ambiance was a great cozy atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyGreatest restaurant experience I've had here as a tourist.
During my brief visit in Buenos Aires, I was looking for somewhere to eat that was walking distance. Reviews and pictures were good, so my mom and I went. We were seated promptly as we walked in. We noticed most of the patrons were dressed in formal wear, but we were not made to feel out of place. Our waiter was so kind and attentive, despite some if the challenges the language barrier presented. We each had a beef tenderloin empanada- so amazing. Best empanadas I've ever had. The meat was so tender, juicy, and flavorful. We had the "ensalada completo". Whatever dressing they used was good. It tasted of red berries, but it wasn't overwhelming. Next, my mom and I shared some of the "Ojo de Bife" as well as the "Penne Rigate" with Alfredo sauce. This Alfredo was the most pure and fresh I've had. The steak was so tender and flavorful. It was absolutely fantastic. We ordered it as well done or "to the point" and it was given to us more undercooked than we liked, but we figured the standard we have is likely different to those of locals. Still yummy. The 2 empanadas, the salad, pasta, steak, and bread had a grand total of $26,000 ARS, or around $29 USD with the current exchange rate. We had an absolutely amazing experience in every aspect. Fast service with a kind waiter, lovely romantic ambience, and unbeatable plates. I hope to return on a future visit.
Be the first to ReplyWe really liked the food here as it was the first
We really liked the food here as it was the first restaurant that we dined at in Palermo Soho, but our experience was dimmed somewhat by a very surly waiter. He was borderline rude and my Hispanic wife speaks fluent Spanish and is very friendly and polite everywhere we go. Nevertheless I recommend Calden Del Soho as it has delicious steak, the prices are lower than La Cabrera, and the location is only one block from the Mine Hotel where we were staying. 5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the service.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful place to eat.
Food is plentiful and everything we had was great. Party of 6 was no problem early (7pm). Place got very crowded after 9:00. Yes, we were still eating 2 hours later. Waiter was great! Steaks were the Best!! Famous Argentinian wine, middle of the road. Mostly locals, highly recommend this as a stop if you are traveling here.
Be the first to ReplyWell I have to say that Calden of Soho still does not
Well I have to say that Calden of Soho still does not disappoint! Ezequiel our server really knocked it out of the park for us. On this outing we came for lunch and did not need to make a line but in the evenings things start to pickup, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and the weekends so show up early if you can. As with our last outing all good items and recommendations made by Ezekiel were excellent. For starters we ordered the Grilled Provoleta (Argentinian thick grilled Provolone cheese with Olive Oil) which was amazing. Next up we orders the "Lomo a La Champignon" (Tenderloin Steak with Mushroom Sauce) with potatoes "Au Gratin" and the "Bife de Chorizo" (Ribeye Steak). with mashed potatoes. All the steaks were incredibly tender and were cooked to perfection on their coal fired grill. Service was excellent but no where near the level of service we received at Don Benito Steakhouse the night before which is why I kept their grading at 4 stars. Rounding out our lunch today we went with some homemade Flan and some espressos to boot. Yep you guessed it, deserts and coffees were very good as well.As always I highly recommend that you walk over if you are staying in the Palermo Soho area of Buenos Aires. If not, then your best bet is to UBER or take a local taxi as parking could be problematic and why would you want to drive if you want to have some drinks or enjoy some wine anyway. "Calden of Soho" is definitely a must visit if you are visiting Buenos Aires. From my perspective you are getting a lot of value for the money you are spending. Wishing you all a great time in Argentina, Enjoy and Bon Appétit!
Be the first to ReplyGreat steakhouse with delectable accompaniments.
Nice place to enjoy Argentinian steak. The Provençal fries are too die for and came piping hot.
Be the first to ReplyIf you want good beef this is the place in Buenos Aires.
Any one who likes meat I would definitely go here.
Be the first to ReplyNice dinner here.
Quickly seated on a Monday night. Dinner starts with a bread basket with sauces and some roasted garlic. Great tenderloin, average ribeye. Very solid place.

We landed in the pm and did not get enough time to make a same day reservation. We tried to go to don julio without a reservation and was told 1.5 hr wait when we came at 8p. Searched up this place and glad we did! Well priced and good portion. Food and service were wonderful and very happy of the choice!
Be the first to ReplyWe loved this restaurant.
To start, you get a bucket of bread with a nice array of spreads to munch on. There's a great selection of wine, meat, as well as other food types. When we were there (in February of 2020), the meat selections were in the 800-1000 peso range for each 2/3 lb portion - so we could easily split one with a couple of appetizers and sides. What really set this place apart for us though was the exceptional service. The service was possibly the best I have ever had. Definitly worth stopping here.

I have been in the area for about a week now, and last night tried Calden del Soho. The reviews I read before I went said there was amazing steak at a low price. To my friend and I's surprise, it was exactly the opposite. The prices were much higher than the previous steakhouses we went to. The ribeye I had was the worst steak I have had in a while, was extremely tough and hard to cut, and was so raw that a good veterinarian would have been able to bring that cow back to life. I would not recommend going to Calden del Soho while in BA.

[The ultimate steak tour in Buenos Aires] [TL;DR]- Quality of food, though still great, is a half a step below of Don Julio. - Best service of all the steakhouses that I've been to. - Would award this place for the best budget steak option. After somehow convincing my wife, we recently completed a week long tour of the best speciality steakhouses in Buenos Aires. I sourced the list with a combination of Google Maps, Yelp, Trip Advisors, and some food bloggers. Overall, the restaurants we visited and ranked are below: (The links are listed at the bottom and the details are listed on each of the restaurant's profile)1st: Don Julio 2nd: La Cabrera 3rd: Calden del Soho4th: Santos Manjares [Details]Calden del Soho, is sufficient to a great fine-dining steak experience and i would only put at a half step below both Don Julio & La Cabrera. The service was outstanding, the streak was a solid high quality of meat, AND we were seated right away. [Food] Of course, we ordered the Ribeye again and a side of mash potatoes and grilled veggies. The quality of the steak is on par with a amazing steak, but it was a little chewy and it wasn't that "Melt in your mouth" amazing, but still more than satisfy my cravings. [Service] The service was probably the best of all the steak house places that i've been to. When we first sat down initially, the owner came by and took his time to explain to us the different types of steaks and which wines he would recommend. He also came back twice to ensure that we enjoyed our steak. The waiter was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. The decor seems a little more on the casual side, but still a great place for a date night.[Price] The ribeye was approx. 550 Ars ($9.50 USD). Which was by far the cheapest of all the steak houses that i've went to. Having said that, I would award them the best budget steakhouse option in all of BA. We ate here the other day because pictures online looked good. DO NOT be deceived. The chef grilling the meat was so unsanitary, it was disgusting. I caught him scratching his head, picking his nose, and going on his cellphone! All without washing his hands before handling meat. If you go, just watch him as he cooks. The staff also seemed inattentive the customers and our server pushed for a tip even though he never checked on us as we ate. If you decide to go, watch the chef before you order. You might not like what you see.
