This place came highly recommended by locals, so I went in

1/5 by đŸ‘» @Eric B. on 09/18/2025

This place came highly recommended by locals, so I went in with my family expecting a great experience. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The bread they automatically brought out was just okay, and they charged €1.50 each for it. The eggs over fries tasted stale and were simply bad. The chicken leg was undercooked, with blood near the bone. The meatball was overly salty--though that was at least edible. Service was also poor. As other reviewers have mentioned, it really felt like they don't care much for non-Spanish guests. The staff came across as unwelcoming, and for the quality of food served, the prices are way too high. Out of all the restaurants we've tried in Spain over the past week, this was by far the worst experience. Definitely not worth the hype.

2/5 by đŸ‘» @Lizzie Y. on 07/26/2025

Casa Lucio is popular among the locals & I had came across this restaurant because I was looking for a last minute spot that served suckling pig. Didn't end up making a reservation but we were able to wait ~45 minutes for a table. I didn't realize the inside of the restaurant was pretty spacious & has multiple floors of seating! Very packed the night we went for dinner. So, unfortunately I didn't find the food to be that great, at all. It was pretty much a total let down & prices weren't friendly either to be honest. Also, I think it's important to mention that if you're not a Spanish speaker, the servers will have difficult time understanding & for us, many of the dishes we received were not dishes were intended to order. A couple dishes we ordered did not come either, such as the suckling pig lol. Almost all the dishes we ordered were flavorless, other than the oxtail dish. The oxtail was very tender and tasty but was too salty for my personal liking. The complimentary bread provided for the table was not good. Tasted stale. Not sure if it's supposed to be like that but I don't think so. Eh. I don't feel like this restaurant was worth the long wait & food was not good. I wouldn't come back again, but it was nice to try.

Amateur Hour from start to finish. Avoid .

2/5 by đŸ‘» @Davies in Malta on 07/22/2025

Distinctly average fronted by surly waiters across the restaurant from the first greeting to the service itself. Meatballs cold on the middle. Sole with lemon may have been lemon with lemon such was the overwhelming flavor of the fruit. Just a disaster. Tedious service throughout. Probably not suitable for tourists. The English menu was a plastic, amateur version of the Spanish original. Personally avoid at all costs.

1/5 by đŸ‘» @Chris W. on 05/02/2025

Don't bother going here if you care about anything but the marginal food. If you aren't Spanish and aren't fluent in Spanish, be prepared for an unwelcoming experience. It's a clearly popular restaurant with Spaniards, but if you aren't Spanish, even trying to converse in Spanish goes no where and you are immediately meant to feel an outcast. I think it is their aim to keep outsiders away because of the popularity with locals. Why bother treating tourists with a local experience if it makes no difference to the bottom line? We made reservations well in advance, arrived on time, spent large, were respectful by trying to converse in Spanish, but the wait staff was cold to us and very different with the Spanish patrons. We felt like they wanted us to feel like outsiders. We were one of the first guests and were seated in a crappy, dark, corner location. No discussion of specials or recommendations, no concern about drinks up front, no welcoming small talk, but those conversations were very animated and clearly happening with the tables around us. The plastic laminated "tourist" translated menu felt insulting compared to what Spanish patrons received when welcomed to their tables. Why not make a similar leather-bound menu with the same translations? We understand enough Spanish and have been to quality restraints enough to know what to expect and this was a disappointment on many levels. It's hard for the food to salvage a bad experience once it happens, The food was not worth the recommendation, but it was the least worst of the experiences. A friend recommended this place however, they went with Spaniards so their experience was clearly not the same. We travel internationally and always do our best to be respectful by working with the local language first, after all, we would appreciate the same. It felt like a local diner where everyone knows one another and the dining experience depends heavily on that relationship. Unwelcome Madrid is served in grand fashion to outsiders at this place. Enjoy.

1/5 by đŸ‘» @M M. on 10/16/2024

I have been coming to this restaurant for over 45 years, I came here five years ago and it was still great so I have recommended it many times to friends who visit from the US. We had lunch there last week and the food could only be described as awful. We ordered the fillet, the EntrecĂŽte, eggs over French fries, the green bean, and the flan. The meats were tough, the entrecĂŽte was simply not edible, it was more like tough rubber, the eggs over French fries were completely tasteless and the green beans were overcooked and tasteless. The flan also had a funny chemically taste to it. I think after the father retired and they gained fame with the tourist community, they decided to cut costs and maybe buy cheaper meat and probably don't have the same great cooks anymore. Sadly, this was the last time that I will visit Casa Lucio.

Huge disappointment.

2/5 by đŸ‘» @Laurie F. on 05/05/2024

Definitely worth skipping if you're someone who loves fine Spanish food and service. The elegance and professionalism I expected was totally missing. The wait staff is rushed and unfriendly, with multiple waiters constantly coming by asking us the same thing over and over - it felt like they were poorly trained and lacking in coordination. We made reservations weeks in advance and confirmed an hour before the restaurant opened, yet though we arrived fourth in line we were put in a side room, with a table facing the wall. All that wouldn't be so bad if the food were better! The soup was cold, and the steak was very fatty. I can't think of a good thing to say.

A friend that lives in Madrid recommended this place.

5/5 by đŸ‘» @Annette R. on 04/12/2024

I'm a huge fan of "huevos rotos" and he told me that here I would find one of the best if not 'THE BEST' in town. Of course I had to try them, so last time I went to Madrid I pay them a visit. Is located in "La Latina" the hipster/cool neighborhood. It could be hard to get a table specially for big groups, so I suggest to book in advance. I didn't had a reservation so I got seated at the bar as a walk-in. The place felt like an old classic Spanish restaurant that has the same employees since it opened many years ago. I'm saying that in a good way. I started talking to the server behind the bar and he told me some interesting stories about the history of the place and the owner LUCIO! He's been working there for more than 20 years. I ordered a 'tinto de verano' a cold, wine-based drink popular in Spain and the famous "huevos rotos". The egg was perfectly made, runny with some crunchy corners, easy to break on top of the fries. Delicious. It felt like an authentic home made meal. The lady seating next to me ordered the sucking pig, which is also a pretty famous dish here and it looked amazing. I'm definitely coming back for that.

Casa Lucio in Madrid (mar 2024)

4/5 by đŸ‘» @guarionex p on 03/10/2024

This establishment was visited on Mar 8, 2024, as recommended by a local from Spain. On arrival, you can feel a historic and local atmosphere. We arrived early evening without reservation and asked if it was possible to be seated. After a few minutes of being stared down and sized up by late-middfle to late adultdood age waiters, a table was provided. Located past the bar and into the entrance hallway. The food was recommended by the waiter, so we proceeded to go along as part of a new culinary experience in Madrid. The food was average, but since wine was involved, it was pleasant. It is definitely overhyped. Lastly, I want to expose an unwelcome behavior from the waiter serving us. When I was ready to pay for a €120 meal course for 2, he bluntly asked me to include a tip. I was confused with his approach and asked him to repeat what he was saying. Only to find out that he was requesting a tip. But it gets better. He asked me if I was from Mexico and told me that was custom over there. Honestly, my heritage doesn't matter. And even though I am not Mexican, I would never undermind or disrespect a person the way this waiter (a grown old man) underminded me. After his audacity, I paid the bill and provided a generous €20 tip to this man. I will let him and his coworkers celebrate his small victory over me. As far as Casa Lucio goes... it is overrated, and current employees can wear their traditional white coat with the Lucio name on it and try to act gracious. But the truth is otherwise for this brand. A quality restaurant is more than a coat or facade. Enjoy the free tip!

1/5 by đŸ‘» @Ally W. on 10/24/2023

This restaurant was recommended by several locals, so I had high expectations, but was pretty disappointed with my experience. We came here in a large group and none of the dishes the group got was appetizing. The quality was diner-like food in the U.S., but at expensive prices. The tomato and garlic bread tasted stale (1 star off). The fries and eggs were not seasoned and were a sloppy mess (1 star off); one person commented that it was like food for toddlers. The manchego cheese was eatable. The suckling pig was tender, but it was like pulled pork that one can easily make in a Crock Pot (1 star off). The waitstaff recommended rice pudding for dessert. I enjoyed the bruleed top, but the pudding underneath was very watery, almost with soup-like consistency (1 star off). Overall, our meal ended up being 70 euros per person. I have definitely had better meals in Madrid for less than that. The restaurant was packed, so I have no idea what the hype is about...unless they all like toddler food?

Recommend by a friend who visited Madrid often, we were able to booked a last minute dinner at this very popular restaurant. They open at 8:30PM and people WITH reservations were already lining up at the front door. A very traditional looking Spanish restaurant with very friendly staff. The food was rather good especially the egg omelette. We tried their roasted suckling pig and found it to be just as good as Casa Botin. Their clam dish was very tasty and one can eat a whole dinner with just the bread dipping in the clam sauce. 3 course Dinner with 3 drinks for two was under $90. Not bad at all. Their menu was rather extensive so one could comeback to try their other dishes.

There were a ton of restaurants and bars all packed so it was hard to find a table. We waited almost 1.5 hours for a seat at the bar here. Service was great. We got olives and some anchovies with our drink order. We tried green beans with garlic, Spanish omelette, and croquettes for appetizers followed by lamb chops and suckling pig. Everything was really good. The server even gave us a complimentary glass of cava at the end of the meal.

A really mixed bag. The signature dish of fried eggs smashed up on fried potatoes was good but hardly a culinary tour de force. Ditto the stir fry of very-few-prawns with oyster mushrooms and eggs. Roast piglet was excellent. Meat balls were good. Service was a bit of a mess - more chiefs than Indians, it seemed, and one poor Indian in particular run off her legs. It took half an hour after we had finished our main course to get any attention. Worth the effort to get a table? Hmmm.... Worth EU 80 per head with one dessert and no alcohol? No.

Connect with users posting reservations for Casa Lucio Madrid

AppointmentTrader is a community-driven platform where users can exchange their reservations or leverage their personal relationships with Casa Lucio Madrid. Buyers can make informed decisions using automated seller ratings, which reflect past transactions and reliability.

Read More on How Seller Track Record and the Bid Process Works Read More Action Icon

Each posting on AppointmentTrader shows you which user submitted it and along with that provides a trackrecord of that user which indicates how much experience the user has and how many percent of their transactions resulted in them issuing a refund.

If there is no user posting that fits your schedule, you can bid on your preferred time.

Let's say Peter has a great morning and decides to take his three friends to Casa Lucio Madrid at 6 PM the same day.

He checks the restaurant's website and sees that no reservations are available. He then looks at the Casa Lucio Madrid page on AppointmentTrader, but finds that there are no user postings either.

That's where the community-driven bid process comes in.

Peter can place a bid on AppointmentTrader, which serves as a reward for any community member who chooses to work on securing the reservation. AT then notifies experienced users who may be able to help.

Step-by-Step Process
1.) Setting a Reward (Bid)
* AppointmentTrader uses historical data to recommend a reasonable reward amount for securing a reservation - let's say $100.
* Peter really wants to go, so he increases the bid (or reward) to $200.
* At this stage, the reservation does not exist yet.

2.) A Community User Picks Up the Bid
* MaternalRecord73, an experienced AT user, has a strong track record of successfully securing reservations and low refund requests, they receive a notification about Peter's bid.
* MaternalRecord73 picks up the bid, meaning they will now work on securing the reservation.
* Peter can now talk to MaternalRecord73 for any questions Peter may have as MaternalRecord73 user fills the bid.

3.) Finding the Reservation
* MaternalRecord73 now uses their connections at Casa Lucio Madrid to secure the table.
* If they successfully get the 6 PM table for four, Peter receives a confirmation that the reservation has been secured.
* If MaternalRecord73 fails to secure the reservation, the bid is returned to the pool so another user can try.

4.) Payment & Protection
* Once the reservation is secured, MaternalRecord73 receives the $200 reward which is credited to MaternalRecord73's AT balance, where users manage their own funds and can withdraw via available payout options such as bank transfer, PayPal, or Zelle.
* Peter can now enjoy the dinner with his friends at Casa Lucio Madrid!
* As with all transactions on AT, disputes and no-show fees are handled through the platform's community-driven resolution system. Users with a strong track record are incentivized to fulfill bids successfully, and community members can report issues to maintain trust in the marketplace.
