Very Pleasant Stay.
We had a very pleasant overnight stay. The staff, food and wine were excellent. The bedroom was the only letdown, too small and very hot. We made use of the swimming pool which was kept at a good temperature.
Be the first to ReplyAn hotel that is designed as a small countryside village
The rooms are located both in the main building and in the little cottages. Each room is individual equipped with all you’d need. They are pretty spacious. The bathroom is a bit old style with the shower inside the bathtub, nevertheless amenities are outstanding and the ambiance is perfectly clean. The hotel offers a heated swimming pool and a Jacuzzi. Excellent Wi-Fi all over the property.

A very special location with panoramic views over the Loire. Friendly team and the evening meals was probably in the top 3 meals we have eaten in France. Great breakfast and we were looked after very well. Thank you.
Be the first to ReplyA Delightful Hotel
We stayed just one night at Chateau de Noirieux but wish we had stayed longer. It is a most beautiful small hotel, with delightfully friendly staff who speak perfect English. Conveniently located for touring the Anjou region it has a very peaceful feel to it. The restaurant is also excellent with very attentive service. It was the first hotel on our road trip but will be very hard to beat. Merci beaucoup!
Be the first to ReplyStunning with jarring flaws. Relais & Chateaux Pay Attention.
Beautiful but flawed. Relais & Chateaux best pay attention. The setting is stunningly beautiful. There is much to like about the property. We were told it is under new, absentee ownership and as far as we were concerned is no longer up to Relais & Chateaux standards. The buildings are stately, farm-like and comfortable on the eyes. There are many sheep on the chateau property outside the fence. It is very pretty. The rooms were comfortable and extremely quiet. The guest-focused staff are kind, accommodating, and professional. In particular, the wait staff, sommelier, and head waiter are first class. The head waiter in is well-focused on customer service and making the guest experience smooth and pleasant. The sommelier, while young, is truly a sommelier making excellent suggestions and monitoring everyone’s glass and the pace of the meal. He is a true sommelier not just the wine guy. Be prepared to use your online translator as most of the staff spoke French with little or no English (I don’t know if they spoke other languages). There was never an uncomfortable moment around language. Just remember, you are in France where French is spoken. No one on the staff had a clue how to make a cocktail and key ingredients like sweet vermouth and bitters were not to be found. The selection of liquors is very good but missing some excellent French whiskeys. All the breads and baked goods (except oddly the plain croissant which tasted like yesterday’s store bought) are excellent. All things chocolate are pretty perfect. The chocolate mousse was probably the best we have ever had. The lunch and dinner meals ran the gamut from inspired to occasionally pedestrian. The vegetarians in the group were sometimes disappointed in what looked and tasted like “oops. I forgot I have to cook for those people.” The lamb shoulder was incredibly tender. Fish was perfectly cooked. Soups were consistently excellent. Breakfast was not better than ok except for the chocolate croissant which were irresistible. A poached egg every morning with the same dull slices of cheese and packaged ham was not up to the chateau reputation. The cheese cart was a treat. The wifi in the buildings was ok in some places and non-existent in other places. The pool was only heated in theory. Towels were provided at the front desk if and only if you knew to ask for them. The jacuzzi worked well but needed to be cleaned of debris by guests daily. The bathhouse at the pool was in disrepair including a bathroom stall without a handle (someone got locked inside for 30 minutes until they were heard yelling). The grounds are attractive in a public park kind of way but not a luxury hotel kind of way. Some areas were a mess. The man with the blow torch burning weeds off the walkways was a regular feature. There are several well-maintained bicycles for adults and kids available if you know to ask for them. There were helmets on one day and then they disappeared. The staff had no idea about helmets. I liked a lot about the property especially the lunch and dinner staff; but it was not up to Relais & Chateaux standards of excellence. The only manager we knew about was the chef. His main function aside from cooking seemed to be being unpleasant to the staff. Their aggravation with the him was noticeable. The property badly needs an experienced actual property manager who knows something about running what is supposed to be a luxury property. The chef needs to stick to what he knows.
