Wow. $4 each for a Duck Rice set and for Duck Porridge, with a soup each. The soup - often an afterthought - was rich and delicious, clearly cooked with care and duck bone. The Duck Rice was pretty good. The rice could have been stickier, but it was still amazing and the duck meat tender. The porridge was the MVP. Stunningly well cooked porridge with incredible duck sauce, french onion and succulent duck. A total steal at $4 - well worth the Bib Gourmand, and destined for greater accolades.

There's a reason why people would queue 20 mins during lunchtime (assuming your boss gives you one hour lunch break :P) for this. Taste:The duck meat is tender and flavorful. I don't know how else to describe. Felt like I could never have enough. They typically give the breast meat, unless you request for other parts. The yam rice is also well cooked and fragrant. And their thick dark sauce ensures that the rice isn't too dry nor is the sauce too wet. The yam taste isn't too overwhelming, but nevertheless is enough for you to enjoy it (and not think it's just white rice that's black/brown in color) Soup provided isn't bland and the herbal taste is quite significant. And the cucumber provided is crunchy and fresh. (I'm that nitpicky)Oh, and did I mention about their chilli? Make sure you get their "mix", not just the belachan or just the chilli sauce... You've got to mix them! Quantity:The basic set meal cost $3, but I'm only satisfied with $4 - I eat relatively more. That being said, my colleagues are typically OK with the $3 meal. Note that from $3 to $5 only the quantity of duck meat changes, but that shouldn't stop you from splurging on more duck meat. Overall:The only real price to pay for this meal is your time. Be ready to wait about 20 mins just to get your duck fix, but it's worth it!
Be the first to ReplyGhim Moh new market is big, nice and clean.
The queue on the duck stall is the longest even at 7pm. Half a braised duck, rice, tofu and chilli sauce were $20, I thought it was amazing considering how good the boneless duck and tofu was. Really enjoyed it.June 14 2016Half a duck, no rice - still fantastic!

The Duck meat is soft, tender & juicy...Which I always order their breast meat.....lean meat. Their rice is cooked with dark sauce, has the right flavour. The chilli has the right taste to go with Duck rice. Put in a bit of the chilli (chicken rice chilli added with sambal) on each mouth full of rice and duck meat & it'll be delicious.

most other people also think so. duck is good, rice is good, extras are also just as good. i like mine with lots of gravy.$3. you have absolutely nothing to loose.
Be the first to ReplyDuck rice is the lesser known counterpart to Hainanese
Duck rice is the lesser known counterpart to Hainanese chicken rice but a good bowl of duck rice beats the latter. I believe Chuan Kee has a number of branches around SG, with the one at Tampinese being the first place I had it.I like their rice - A LOT. It has a yam-like flavour to it and is done just slightly moist so it pairs nicely with the tender pieces of duck and braised sauce. The duck meat here takes on the form similar to chicken rice as it is leaner and slightly smashed. The soup is another highlight to the dish - deep, herbal and flavourful. It goes so nicely with the rice and I always try to ask for seconds for the soup. This is great duck rice that beats roasted duck or chicken rice anytime.
