Cibrèo Trattoria Firenze Reviews from The Last Year
Avoid if you are a tourist
We thought we had made a reservation at the restaurant but had mistakenly booked the trattoria. The greeter in the restaurant said it happens all the time (two couples after us also made the same mistake) You would think the management would come up with a solution if they valued their customers. The waitress was rude and absent most of the time. After multiple tables that arrived after us were given wine and starters I asked if we could order wine. She told us it would be our turn next. When she did show up told us now that she is at our table we should order everything we would be having. I had the rabbit. It was small pieces of meat cooked like jerky that were so salty and tough I ate almost none. I truly think that I was served this because the waitress was unhappy with me asking for service. I can't imagine a chef letting this dish leave their kitchen. To top it all off we had to wait 30 minutes to finally get our check. A memorable dining experience but not in a good way.
Not nice Chef......
I ordered the amber jack fish, it was cut into six pieces. When the foil was opened some of the thicker pieces were not cooked. I asked for them to be cooked through. The waitress returned stating that I was given a new order, when I opened the foil I was surprised, she stated again it was a different fish. After recovering from the shock I realized the chef had just taken out the uncooked pieces. I was given the original three smaller pieces, half a portion. Not nice chef....
Pretentious, overpriced and simply not very good
I went for lunch with my sister as we had done some research on good places to eat in Firenze. Very disappointed. I had vitello tonnato for a starter which was ok, if a little sparse. My sister had what is known in England as "beans on toast" - for €12! The mains, salt cod for me and ricotta stuffed chicken neck for her were so rich neither of us could finish. It was like eating a big dish of butter! So-called sweet and sour cabbage was oily red cabbage with very little flavour. One glass of wine (not two), total bill €85. There are much better trattorie in the city. This one we would not recommend.
NEVER AGAIN!
NEVER AGAIN.....disappointing, presumptious and expensive considering quality as well as quantity. My arista was so salted that it seemed to have been in brine! So one advice: back to basics . Sorry; we are not tourists; we are Italians living in Florence
A confirmation
I have been going to Cibreo since I was a child, after many years I decided to return. I found the same flavors and the same quality as then. Highly recommended.
Overpriced, overcooked, served cold
Our impression was that the place enjoys good old reviews and does not attempt to maintain the quality. The atmosphere was lovely but the food was disappointing or close to awful - overcooked, of questionable freshness as for the mains, and served ridiculously cold. The three young waiters that evening couldn’t keep with the tourist feeding machine tempo unfortunately.
A little disappointed
A little disappointed. Cozy place, friendly staff but for the food I expected more. The lasagna was scarce where the ragù was really poor.
Cibreo, dear and nothing else.
A slightly disappointing dinner in this restaurant. Highly cited in Italian tavern guides, we decide to eat there also in view of the excellent reviews. We only ordered the meatballs (3) at €18 and the Cibreo lasagna was good, but there was only the homemade pasta, almost no ragu. We were a little disappointed and told the waiter (everyone was very kind) that the portions were small and with a big smile he left without adding anything. We paid the price of an unfortunately tourist restaurant and nothing else. We went home to finish eating.
Probably one of the best cheesecakes!
An institution in Florence. A nice setting and attentive service. Local dishes revisited. And certainly one of the best cheesecakes ever tasted! Just remember to put something on the table to nibble with the wine as an aperitif
Cibreino
I had never tried it, I had a German guest and she wanted to take her out for dinner to try good Tuscan cuisine without spending too much. And I must say that they were the solution: a menu of few dishes, but varied and well cooked, without making you pay an arm and a leg for them. Excellent beef tartare, tasty livers, crouton with black cabbage and beans. Tasty rabbit. We also tried the lampredotto. Good wine and chocolate dessert. Advised!
Florentine cuisine
An excellent way of combining tradition with a bit of creativity but with rigorous respect for the raw material. 5 quarter cuts handled with skill. Friendly, attentive and professional staff. To return
Very good
We were here for my partner's birthday, a little worried because we had our 4 month old daughter with us. Very kind, friendly and fast service. Very good food. Starter with crostini with livers, then Panizza with escarole (highly recommended!!), brains in foil (my partner said he had never eaten better) and two excellent desserts. We will definitely be back. Really good!!
Greeted and informed about the menu by an unpleasant person
We chose this place because we wanted to try the ribollita again which, based on the reviews here, seemed good. Ribollita wasn't on the menu. The waitress who welcomed us, the same one who explained the menu to us, but different from the very kind ones who later served us, explained to us with a certain condescension that the bread soup on the menu was practically the same thing, only cooked daily basis. I asked if there was black cabbage, he replied in the affirmative. We therefore decided to stop. The famous bread soup was practically made up of bread and little else, a few crumbs of cabbage had fallen into it almost by accident. Now I'm not discussing the absence of ribollita, once we read the menu, we knew it, but it annoys to be taken for a ride in this way... and even rudely. Low quality classic Chianti wine. Saved by a welcoming place and two other very kind waitresses

I had this problem too when I first started. It took me about 8 screenshots before it was accepted. What is the reason they’re saying it is being rejected?
