Was given wheat toast as a Celiac
I am a diagnosed Celiac and found this restaurant from a gluten-free group on Facebook. I saw that their Google listing is marked as a gluten-free restaurant. Perfect, let's go. The place was super busy and we put our name with the hostess. Because it's raining, nobody was seated outside. We sat at the bar so I could speak to the wait staff because despite advertising themselves as a gluten-free restaurant, I noticed their menu board said their food can be made gluten-free. Mmmm so is this a gluten-free restaurant or it is just a place who makes some dishes gluten-free? There were two bar backs and I asked the one with curly hair if the fries were cooked in a shared fryer and were they gluten-free. She said that all of their fried foods were cooked in a dedicated gluten-free fryer "because we know what we're doing." After placing an order for the loaded fries, I asked her if the chicken fried steak meal was gluten-free. She said it was. The other bar back took our food order and my husband said he wanted the gluten-free chicken fried steak, breakfast meal with eggs over hard. The waitress asked if he wanted regular or gluten-free toast. He said gluten-free. Our food came out. The loaded fries were really good whereas the sweet & spicy waffle with fried chicken ($14.75) was meh as was the chicken fried steak ($15.50.) my husband's eggs were over easy and he hates runny yolk. He gave me his toast after he asked the bar back who took our main dish order for a plate to share. She literally saw us share our food and said nothing as I ate the toast. Never got a refill on my water so I drank my husband's as he also got himself drip coffee. When the receipt came we noticed it had Celiac mentioned. Also the gravy mentioned gluten-free, my waffle mention gluten-free but the toast did not. I asked the bar back who took our main dish order and gave us the plate to share if it had been gluten-free toast or not. Ummmmmm she straight up said she thought only gluten-free was for me. My husband literally ordered his meal gluten-free and we asked her for a plate to share!!! She said sorry and that it was her "bad" that she gave us regular toast. I have a flight to catch today. My husband started a new job and my health insurance hasn't kicked in yet. People with Celiac have ended up in the hospital from being glutened. I had an entire piece of bread! The last time I was sick for 4 days from eating 1 slice of deep fried jalapenos that was accidently put on my gluten-free burger at Red Robin. We paid the bill in full, no discounts were even offered. If end up in the hospital thanks to being severely glutened, I'm sending my hospital bill to Company Cafe & Bar 100%. February 11, 2024

If you're a celiac or need to eat gluten-free for medical/autoimmune/allergy reasons, don't come here as you will get sick! My wife is a celiac, and we were told the chicken fried steak was gluten-free along with app fried dishes here because they didn't have a shared fryer. Great! We ordered the chicken fried steak breakfast w/ gluten-free toast along with a few other gluten-free dishes. However, when we received our bill, the chicken fried steak just said "toast" below it and didn't say gluten-free toast despite the other items on our bill listing gluten-free next to or below them. We asked the server if this meant the toast wasn't gluten-free because we obviously already ate it, and she said yes, it was a regular order, and it was her mistake like it was no big deal. A mistake?! Getting people extremely sick is not just a simple mistake! This place needs to stop advertising as gluten-free as their staff don't see to care or know what they're doing. I do not recommend this place and definitely not coming back!!

No, no no. Why are you SO far away from where I live. Not fair. Not fair at all. I want to try everything on the menu. And I CAN, even gluten-free and dairy-free, which is amazing. I got chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy (not DF). I've NEVER, EVER had that option before. And the biscuits taste like...biscuits! (If you're GF you'll understand this better.) So yummy. I bought a package to bring home with me. 1500 miles away. I need to work my way through the menu because there were so many options. Do you deliver?

I had Door Dash pick up my order. The food was still warm but it was terrible. I can't believe I paid money for this food. We ordered chicken fried steak, tacos and buffalo wings. I guess if you stick to their breakfast menu you might be okay, but don't eat off the regular menu!
Be the first to ReplyGreat unique turkey club
Thursday lunch. Company Cafe's turkey club is unlike any I've had. For one, the turkey is cooked and sliced extremely thin. Most clubs seem to have fresh deli turkey. The ciabatta bun was also a nice touch. Only $8. Sides are average. Service was very slow for a place that wasn't at all busy. Worth a second visit.

Amazing gluten free food options. The chicken and waffles were delicious, and my girlfriend loved her gluten-free pancakes. Tons of options to keep you coming back. Friendly servers.

I chose Company Cafรฉ (CC) for my birthday breakfast because of their wonderful GF menu and proximity to Northpark Mall, for a birthday shopping day. The server was apathetic and seemed surprised when I ordered a GF full stack with turkey sausage. The pancakes had 2 servings of light-colored syrup. I asked if it was corn syrup and he said โYesโ. I requested maple syrup because Iโm allergic to corn, and then he returned with only 1 serving of 'maple' syrup. The pancakes were light, fluffy, and tasty, but the turkey sausage was cooked dry and not worthy of the pancakes. Just after completing the meal my face started to itch followed by coughing and sneezing. I asked the server if the pancakes were GF and he replied โYesโ. I left, then drove to Northpark Mall with slowly worsening symptoms. My nose was runny, I was nauseous, itchy, and short of breath. In the mall parking lot, I dosed nasal spray, asthma inhaler spray, and antihistamine, then sat in the car 30 minutes while symptoms subsided. What a birthday! An hour later, at Macyโs, I experienced sudden nausea followed by a very loose stool and fatigue. Thank goodness for the Macyโs restroom lounge! Was it caused by the food at CC? Probably. I have never experienced such a wide range of allergic symptoms from food ingestion. I wish I could attribute it to a specific food or ingredient, but who knows? Needless to say, I will never set foot in CC again!

The turkey club, chicken pesto and hamburger were delicious! Very friendly with family. Had trouble finding parking.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting, but not special
We wondered around lower Greenville and found this restaurant. The service was okay (not great) and the food interesting (but also not great). If asked, I cannot say Iโd be excited to go back.

We go to the cafe for its gluten free options, we are never disappointed. The food was excellent the prices are good but the service could be improved. We went on a midweek afternoon, the restaurant was not particularly busy but service was haphazard and slow.
