A place that impresses from start to end
From the moment you park your car until you leave, it is all a wonderful experience. The food and wine pairing, the service, the various different parts of the restaurant were all amazing and impressive. Besides the quality and creativity of the menu, all members of the staff we interacted with are professional, friendly and knowledgeable.

We picked the restaurant to celebrate my birthday, and thought this would be an unforgettable experience. The idea of changing of place with each course and visiting all parts of the restaurant impressed us a lot at the beginning. And we were blewn away by the beauty and the richness of selection of wine celler. However the food was below our expectations, and the menu got very confusing after the 3rd dish. Eating oysters, bull steak tartare, foie gras, eel, sea urchin, deer loin, suckling pig back to back was a challenge and not admired by anyone on the table. I stopped at the 5th course because I had an upset stomach. My husband finished all courses and he got worse by the time we got to the hotel. Eventually it didnโt only cost us going back to the hotel with a totally empty stomach (if you understand what I mean) after paying 340โฌ each, also made us stay all day in bed the next day which was our last day in Madrid.

A spectacle from the moment you enter to the cafe, the different rooms welcome and surprise at the same level! A 2 Michelin star meal and all accompanied by exquisite treatment! Special mention to the head of the room for the treatment and being attentive to all the details that made the experience even better, chapรณ! It is very worth it

Fifth time we go to Coque, but it always surprises us with something. Great, friendly, haute cuisine, impressive place. Let's see if they get the well-deserved third star soon. Rafael Sandoval, close and charming. Perfect host. I don't know what it is about this restaurant that always makes you feel special. As a point of improvement, at first you have to go quickly from one room to another, it seemed that way to the 6 of us who went, we would have liked a little more time,

We were a few months ago at another restaurant with two Michelin stars in the northwest of Spain and we were not at all satisfied. This December long weekend we came to Madrid and decided to try Coque to get rid of the thorn and it has been a wonderful experience. As a small detail to improve and so that there is feedback: in the women's toilet it was very cold.

We were hoping for a memorable experience on our last night in Spain. This is one of the most overrated restaurants I have been to in a long time. They started us off in their extensive and pricey wine cellar, where I noticed a number of wines that reflect an old restaurant trick of top makers but from mediocre vintages. I picked a Ribera del Duero from a maker that I like, but it was only available from a very recent vintage so I asked that it be decanted for aeration. Twenty minutes after our dinner started, I asked them to serve the wine. It hadn't been opened or decanted. I remarked that I had asked that it be decanted when I ordered it. The young sommelier didn't apologize, but remarked that "the wine is perfect." None of the courses on the tasting menu was better than average. The bread was completely ordinary and on the dry side. The pork 3 ways course included one preparation that was mostly gristle. A showy flambee dessert consisted of a dozen or so blueberries in burnt butter. Steer clear.

The food was very good despite the ups and downs. Some courses (gazpacho, chickpeas) were excellent, others (squid) left me wondering? It deserves two stars.
Be the first to ReplyExceptional Cuisine, Worth A Special Journey
If I was an inspector, and based on my experiences at dozens of Michelin starred restaurants, Coque would easily have 3*. Chef Mario Sandoval and his staff are SUPERB! Across the board, the service, the drinks, the setting, and above all the creatively inspired cuisine were at the highest level of perfection. I find it incredibly satisfying that I cannot pick a favorite dish or drink because there were SO many standouts. The idea of moving throughout the restaurant to see the bar, the wine cellar, the sherry cave, the kitchen and then the dining room while chatting with the servers, chefs, bartender, sommelier and Chef Mario was a real TREAT. (At each stop there was a super tasty appetizer/amuse bouche to try.) Definitely an inspired dining experience and it provided a better window into our culinary journey and the ingredients used to make the food/magic. Definitely excellent value for money!!!!! Muchas, muchas gracias Chef Mario and Team Coque!!!!!
Be the first to ReplyWe'd travel to Spain just for Coque
Our reservations at Coque were on the last night of our stay in Spain to celebrate my significant others birthday. There are no words that can express how much we enjoyed our dining experience at Coque and how special it made his birthday celebration! It was truly the most amazing dining experience we've ever had and we dine out frequently. The Vegetarian Experience was superb! Traveling to different stations within the restaurant and interacting with the staff to learn about each course was simply fantastic. And the food ... worth every Michelin Star!

We had a wonderfull evening at Coque. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was perfect and the menu was one of the best we had. They even offer a vegetarian menu and becauce this isn't so often offered in a Michelin Star restaurant we tried both menus. I have to say that I never had a better vegetarian menu in my life. We are definitely coming back!
Be the first to ReplyMuch more than a meal! A brilliant experience. Wow!
Modern and elegant restaurant with a great reputation. The wines here are legendary and a wine flight with the Tasting menu is highly recommended. Bit - it's not only the food and wine that delights here- before being seated, you are given a guided tour which really enhances the overall experience. Food was amazing. Top End pricing even for Michellin Madrid but it was FAB !
Be the first to ReplyWine was divine
Coque describes their tasting as an experience rather than a meal, and I see why. Before sitting down at your table, you're taken through their cocktail bar, kitchen, and wine cellar, having drinks and apertivs as you tour each room. Once seated, the tasting starts, and each dish was a very unique and delicious representation of Spain, elevating and reimagining the best local ingredients and dishes (grilled shrimp, baby eels, suckling pig, etc). What really stood out though was the premium wine pairing. Although costing as much as the meal itself, the wines they pour are some of the most coveted in the world. Other than the sherry, as I'm not a big fan of sherry in general, I was almost giddy as they brought out each bottle - easily the best wine pairing I've ever had with a meal. I'm not keen on returning to Madrid, as I much prefer Barcelona, but this restaurant would be one of the reasons if I do return.
Be the first to ReplyWorst Michelin 2 Star Restaurant So Far
AVOID THIS PLACE!!! This is by far the WORST Michelin experience I've had so far. Poor (almost nonexistent) service, terrible food (the chef does not even understand how to cook properly), and shamelessly overpriced (340 EUR/ppl). We even found a mosquito in the main dish, and the manager's explanation was that the mosquito was completely normal because the ingredients were organic (what a stupid pretext lol). All the manager did was try to tell us that we did not understand the concept of this restaurant. All I can say is that Michelin 2 Star for this restaurant is a pure joke. Honestly, I would recommend the chef focus on the quality and taste of the food rather than a meaningless experience in which the sole purpose is to inflate the price and overcharge the customers. I would gladly see this restaurant get its 2 stars removed this year. Again, as an honest review, avoid this restaurant. With 340 Euro/ppl, you can get a much better experience elsewhere in Madrid.

My wife and I loved our experience at Coque last night. The food was amazing and it ended up being a substantial amount of food over the course of the evening. The wine pairings were perfect and the two sommeliers were both excellent. We really liked being able to see the bar, the wine cellar and the kitchen before heading to our dinner. The bull tartar was incredible and the strawberry dessert was another highlight. Alicia, one of our servers, was great! The whole experience lasted about 3.5 hours. It never seemed rushed. For the most part, all of the staff speaks English well making it easier for foreign visitors to enjoy it.
Be the first to ReplyNot to be trusted with allergies
Went in July 2022 with my girlfriend, who has a nut allergy. Informed the restaurant at the time of booking and again after arrival. We heard the staff discussing her allergy as we were entering the restaurant, and therefore assumed she was in safe hands. However, through some unexplained miscommunication, the kitchen had not been informed. Midway through the starters, my girlfriend was served two separate appetizers containing nuts, both of which she very nearly ate. Had it not been for her vigilance, she would โ at best โ have spent the evening in the emergency room. We spent the rest of the meal worrying whether another kitchen blunder would be incoming. To say this lessened the dining experience would be an understatement. Our anxiety was not lessened by a waiter mistakenly listing nuts as an ingredient in one of my girlfriend's mains. The staff was apologetic about their mistakes, but apparently thought the experience still merited the full 700+ euro price tag. A restaurant is free to decline service if it considers itself unable to cater to allergies or food intolerances. By choosing to eat at Coque after they had signalled that they could accommodate her allergy, my girlfriend placed her health and well-being in the hands of the restaurant and its staff. That turned out to be a serious mistake. I would strongly caution others against repeating it.
Be the first to ReplyInteresting concepts and one of the bests in town
I love fine-dining and coming to this one was like a walk in a theme park with interesting tasting and wine pairing experience.
We were invited to the kitchen and wine cellars to experiment food pairing at the sites. Loved the experience. The courses are exquisite, top notch for the fine dining category. But it is pricey.
Only a matter of time before a third star is awarded
It is worth a trip on its own to visit Coque in Madrid. This is not just a dinner, but an experience. The theatrical venue and excellent meal will leave you longing for more.
Greetings my welcoming staff sets off the journey through the bar, the wine and champagne cellars, from there you visit the kitchen and bakery where you of course enjoy both food and drinks (all part of their menu). In the end you are seated in a generous and beautiful ballroom. The level of details are incomparable: warm napkins are at your disposal from your personal liaison throughout the whole dinner experience.
This is hands down the best restaurant in Madrid, possibly the world.
Lovely place for fine dining
Coque is a really high end restaurant with attention to detail, fabulous food and good but not great service
Prons- the wine cellar with selection of wines from every corner of the planet and good choice of older vintages
Good selection of Cava and Champagne
the tour through different areas of the restaurant like the bar and the kitchen makes you feel really welcome .
the main theme the food is really the star of the show, All the dishes start as great to off the charts . each one of them has great balance, pronounced flavors and lingering finish. there is fantasy but also substance. The desserts help make the finale of the dinner magical. Notably the chocolate dessert is maybe the best i ever had.
Cons. The service started very well and all the dishes followed each other without gaps. The assistant sommelier was lovley , she took great care of us, chose perfect glassware for our wines and overall left very positive imoression . However the rest of the service tieam from the second half of our evening seemed disorientated and lost . We were seeking assistance to get more water and we had to stand up and look around. The initiall choreography ended up in a mess which put a wrinkle to otherwise great dinner.
