Provender: this is a Korean bbq joint (but not an all you can eat) with quality meat. The highlight here though is the cold noodle dish. It's especially refreshing when eaten with the kbbq.Prices: since the meat is served entree style it's a bit more pricey, but definitely worth it. The noodle dish is under $15 and it's a big bowl.Parking: this restaurant is located in a strip mall (with one entrance/exit) so there are a few spots. (Secret tip: across the street is another parking lot.)People: fun for all.Perks: for two people, I recommend ordering a meat dish and sharing an order of noodles. I ate the noodles with the brisket, and it was delicious. One side of the menu is in English, while the other side is in Korean. They also serve plenty of side dishes, so you have a wide variety of food. They are closed on Sundays.

I lived here my whole life and never knew this place existed. My friends fail as friends. They all knew about this place. The meat and noodles are out of this world. We got the Dongchimi Gooksu, Gilmok Gui, and Pork Belly. Gilmok Gui (short rib) was one of the best that I had eaten in my life. They melted in my mouth. Pork Belly was good too but the short ribs blow me away. But those are not even the best part. The dongchimi gooksu (cold noodle) is the highlight of the restaurant. I am craving that as I write this review. Little tip that Koreans like to do. Put a piece of the short rib on the noodle and eat it together. It will not disappoint
Be the first to ReplyYou don't understand.
If I was a 1920s gangster on death row for general murder and mayhem and I was getting the chair tomorrow, I'd request for my last meal to be the dongchimi gooksoo here. Sometimes the dongchimi hits perfect, other times it doesn't, but if it was my last meal and it didn't hit I'd just accept that as my lot in life, or death.
Be the first to ReplyA hole in the wall, NOT AYCE Kbbq.
Definitely gives off the traditional Korean vibes, and family owned. The menu is limited, from protein down to the sauces.Came around lunch time and it was not busy. It is a limited menu but we were really here to tried to cold noodles! To my surprise, they use white vermicelli noodles instead of the brown buckwheat noodles that looks like worms. It only comes in a large bowl and has added tomatoes. I enjoyed it and wished it was spicy! Our server is an older woman and is so sweet, she came and helped us cooked our meats like we were her kids.

I've gone here ever since I was a kid and every time I go the aunties always treat you well over there. They always come to my table to help me cook the meat and they're always accommodating. Their English isn't the best so bear with them! The cold noodles are always my favorite, especially on a hot day.

Not 5 star because their quality in meat has gone down over the years. Cold noodles (dongchimi) I rate as the best place for korean cold noodles. And thats out of all the places I've been including South Korea.

OG Koreans know that this is the place to go for the best grilled intestines and tripe in ktown. I've been going to this place ever since I was a child and the quality of the meat is always so consistent and the flavor is unmatched. The intestines get nice and crispy and the tripe has such a satisfying bite - I crave it almost every week. I've grown up with intestine and tripe all my life, but for those less adventurous eaters out there - you gotta broaden your horizons cause you're truly missing out ;) Definitely recommend this place for some truly awesome kbbq!!
Be the first to ReplyProbably the best Korean barbecue there is.
A little bit of a hole in the wall but the noodles are unparalleled and the meat and all the sides are absolutely fantastic. If you want no frills fantastic Korean barbecue that's been around forever. This is the place.
Be the first to ReplyI was craving my cold noodle radish soup and my favorite
I was craving my cold noodle radish soup and my favorite cut of beef here arrong satae which the hindshank of the beef. And of course their never ending green onion salad. I've been coming here since I was practically a baby and their food has not changed especially their cold noodle radish soup. Their recipe for their cold noodle radish soup is a secret that's handed down as far as what I was told growing up hence the flavor never changed...maybe once or twice I've noticed a few times it was slightly off but it is always consistent. This place is known for their noodles more than the meat itself. The best combination is getting the noodles and meat to eat it together. My wife liked the cold noodle radish soup so much she almost finished all the broth(she normally doesn't drink a lot of broth when it comes to anything soupy). Parking is small in the plaza because it's shared with other stores but they do have parking across the plaza. Best time to come here is around 3 or when they open, they get really busy during peak hours.

Their cold noodle in soup is so freaking delicious you must try it! A friend took me here a couple years back and my wife was craving this place so we decided to make this our La date night spot. Normally I'm a naegmyun type of girl but thier dongchime ( cold radish noodle soup) it's so refreshing with that perfect amount of tartness like vinegar (kimchi gives off a naturally sour flavor due to the Natural fermentation) and sweetness, but not too overtly sweet. The soup helps refresh your palate when you're eating barbecue. I was almost about to grab the bowl and lift it to drink every last drop but after going to the bathroom I felt full. The meat from the barbecue was a little bit too gamey but I came for the cold radish noodle soup and left satisfied. They also have parking which is always a plus.
Be the first to ReplyI like this restaurant for their cold noodles.
I was not impressed by the meat, I tried galbi but it was sort of chewy for my preference. The cold noodles are definitely awesome and good to share with one other person.

Used to be one of the hottest bbq in K town with their famous Dongchimi gooksoo. I recently visited and their meat quality is not up to the standard and the Dongchimi gooksoo is just blend+sugary. Barely hits 3 stars just because of our past memories.

Be the first to ReplyI have been a regular customer since 1998 .
It was introduced by my Korean classmates at USC
Be the first to ReplyI came here on a weeknight.
They seat you and set up the table for you. They also cook the meat for you too. Instead of the combo we ordered everything separately because it's more portions. It's really pricy for a meal but it's worth the combination of cold noodles and the tender meat that really makes me want to come back!

You don't come here for service but the food has always been spot on. We always order the cold noodle split between two people and gilmok gui. We've been coming here for almost 20 plus years!

So I came here because I heard that the cold noodles are good. Yeah it was pretty good but nothing to rave about. The reason why I'm giving one star is because wow, the prices are crazy like y'all see this. The quality ain't that crazy too. THEY CHARGE 6 bucks for ssamjamg!!!!! WTF. The customer service was awful and we gotta asked for water!? And they charge for rice. Like Jesus go to any other Korean restaurant they don't charge you for your first serving of rice and they for sure don't charge for ssamjang. These other reviews are stupid.

It looked appetizing, but the vegan bibimbap was delivered with two eggs on the top. This was the only vegan dish on the menu too.

This old school Ktown gem definitely needs a BIG shoutout! I've been coming here with my family since I was a tiny tot in the 80's.We recently dined here, and were so happy. It was really nice seeing some of the server ladies who have been with this restaurant forever! One of the most incredible things about Gilmok is - how on earth do they keep their banchans (side dishes) & dongchimi tasting the same since they opened in the 80's!?? (Actually, the dongchimi tastes healthier now than it did before - a big plus!)Many Kbbq fads and trends have come and gone since then... but Gilmok will always remain one of my favorites. (For the non-Koreans: Gilmok is the name of The Corner Place restaurant )On our recent visit, we ordered the boneless short ribs (roast gui) and dongchimi noodles. Delicious and super satisfying!Thank you so much Gilmok, and I'll be back soon! I hope you stay in business forever & eternity~~
Be the first to ReplyGoing there over 35 years.
Went w out of town guests n had worst experience ever. Blatantly ignoring your request for simple thing like water.
Be the first to ReplyThis place is a ktown staple.
I hadn't been here in many years, but nothing had changed, which is both good and bad. The portion sizes are huge. Wish they had better quality of meat. The bulgogi was very tough and some pieces were obviously not butchered correctly. Their signature cut, or kilmok cut was the best. We got 4 orders of meat, for 4 adults and 3 kids, but it was more than enough. I would have ordered half of that and ordered more as needed. The prices have gone up but thats the case everywhere. At least the portions are generous. The star of this place is the cold noodles. Huge and still delicious.

I'm worried for this place - it's always been known as a value place with huge portions for a decent price plus their famous cold noodles. But they raised their prices 80%! Its an old classic that I used to enjoy as a kid and now I'm bringing my kids here. Quality is 3rd tier (1st tier: Chosun, Park's, Daedo; 2nd tier: Soowon, GwangYang, Jeong Yuk Jeom) but it's definitely better than even the best AYCE places. And they give huge portions 2 orders can feed 3. It's a place my family could enjoy regularly without breaking the bank. Problem is their prices jumped ~80% just through Covid. I understand restaurants struggled and might need to raise prices but Galbi went from $27 to $35 to $45 and now its $49! No thanks, for those prices there are better places a few blocks away. We were a very regular customer going there twice a month but not anymore. Hope they survive but I'm pretty sure they will lose a lot of their regulars like us. Hate to see it.

The food is so good, all across the board, but the service is terrible. Hygiene is also somewhat lacking, the last time we went there was a bug in our food and I've seen them do a lot of questionable things but I still go back.

It's been a while and yes prices have increased quadrupled it seems but the food was amazing. I must always order the cold noodle. My favorite grilled meat is the tongue. The side dishes are fantastic. Parking is usually a mess in the lot and they have spots across the street too but that also gets filled at busy times.
