Backyard Adventure
There are plenty of choices on the menu for everyone taste. The quantity and quality of food are very good. Our server was very friendly, and our food came out quick. There are plenty of big screens to watch your favorite sporting event. However, there is quiet seating.

Custer service was excellent. It was a crowded day when we came but the wait was only 20 minutes. We opted to wait in the car and they texted us when the table was ready. Our server was Rebecca, and was nice. The food was good and the quantity was just right. Will definitely recommend.
Be the first to ReplyNauseating - I should have sent it back
Yesterday my husband and I had lunch at this restaurant. We ordered the Monte Cristo. I’ve had this many times before at other restaurants and it’s one of my favorites. According to their menu it’s served on grilled brioche French toast, sprinkled with powdered sugar and blackberry jam on the side. When it was delivered to our table, the first thing I noticed was the lack of jam. Our waiter went back for the jam and then I saw there was no powdered sugar. I decided to let that go. I also saw that the cheese was sliding out on the side and the ham and turkey were sliding out on the ends. When I cut into the sandwich I noticed that the bottom slice of bread was not grilled sufficiently and was still very soggy from whatever mixture they dipped it in. As I ate it I worried that it might make me sick. My husband later said “if they serve a sandwich like this, what must their kitchen look like?” Last night as my stomach gurgled I realized that I should have sent it back. And today as I’ve gotten sick for the second time my concern was confirmed. I should report them to the Health Department but I think this might be more effective.

Can you say disappointed? Staying a few days in Asheville and thought my husband and I would try this restaurant out. I've never had such a thin ribeye in all my life. Our waiter acted as though we were a bother and he was doing us a favor by refilling our empty glasses. We will not revisit this restaurant again!

We ate here twice for dinner in our 2 day stay, it was that good. Reasonably priced, great atmosphere and even better service. Food was amazing!
Be the first to ReplyFilet Mignon at Tunnel Road Cornerstone
We were there to celebrate a good report from my best friends cancer doctor. I treated her to filet mignon. When the food came, the other 3 people had great food. The filet was full of griddle. She was worn out from sawing, trying to find a piece she could chew. I have NEVER been so disappointed!!

we tried this place out on the advice of the check in person at our hotel. She did not steer us wrong. The menu is widely varied, and everything we tried was good, with large portions. over two visits we had salads (house made croutons and dressing) ribs, fish and chips and manicotti. All of it very good. The ambiance was like a ski lodge, the service was great. Jennifer was on the spot with recommendations and service.

I had the Chicken Parmigiana with Alfredo and my wife had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes. The food was served hot and timely. The Blackberry Cobbler A la Mode was the perfect ending for our dinner.

Came to Cornerstone for breakfast. What a pleasant surprise; delicious food and exceptional service from Destiny D. The restaurant is immaculate and the atmosphere is extremely appealing. We met Jennifer, the manager, and were extremely impressed with her attitude and welcoming personality. We are moving to Asheville in January and we will become regulars at this wonderful establishment!

Cornerstone: Came to Cornerstone for breakfast for the first time on a recent visit to Asheville. This “diner” is beautiful, the food is delicious and the service by Destiny D. was excellent. I can only say good things about it, and we will be returning soon.

We got into town and checked into our hotel. There was a tornado watch, so we wanted to stay close to the hotel and went to Cornerstone. Friendly server, plenty of menu choices. My wife had a salad with grilled chicken that was huge and delicious. I had the meatloaf and mashed potatoes which was delicious and a huge portion. Very reasonable!
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food but declining service
I have been a fan of Cornerstone for a long time. The food is always good, but the service of late has been on a fast decline. I have encountered a problem with service each of the last four or five times I’ve patronized Cornerstone. Last week our server was adamant that they served feta but not goat cheese. We asked that she check with the manager on that, which she did before returning to admit she didn’t really know the menu. Another time I ordered takeout for four but had to wait at the counter for 30 minutes after I was told the order would be ready. The order was put together while handling other orders, so I asked the server to check that everything got included. Despite his assurances, we did not get what I ordered. Last week when I got takeout I did go through the boxes before leaving, and again multiple items were omitted. Yesterday I called at 2:30 pm to order takeout, including breakfast for one of us, but was told on the phone that they don’t serve breakfast after 1 pm. I knew that not to be the case from prior experiences, but the order taker insisted and would not let me order breakfast. When I came for the takeout, I asked at the counter and was assured that of course they serve breakfast until 4 pm, which I knew was the case. I spoke with the manager Jake, who had the handwritten note for my order with my name and phone number, and asked him to check on why the staff person did not know when breakfast was served and wouldn’t listen otherwise. Jake had my contact information and assured me that he would get back to me, but he hasn’t. What’s up with my old friend Cornerstone that the staff doesn’t know what is on its menu or its hours of service, and the manager makes promises he doesn’t keep?

Noticed the restaurant on the way to a different one and decided to eat "somewhere different" because it looked busy. Service was great. Food was served quickly. We had omelettes and upgraded the pancakes to be Apple Walnut. I asked for sour cream and salsa sides because my omelette was a little "dry" tasting (eggs were cooked too long). The walnuts with the pancakes were huge chunks which was surprising in a good way. Would eat breakfast here again when in or close to the area!
Be the first to ReplyReally nice breakfast place
Breakfast here was great! Finally a place that knows how to season their potatoes/hash.... breakfast had large portions, and was really tasty. In our party of 3, none of us finished. I think we found our new breakfast spot when passing through

Great Breakfast and Dinner We have eaten here three times so far in our stay amazing service and homemade food and jams. Reasonably priced

1st night in town and we were able to walk from our hotel. Service was friendly and swift. We started with the pimento cheese with chips - and it was very good! Chips were freshly fried. I had the gyros plate with salad - a little disappointed that the gyros meat was not off a spit. The Greek salad was very good and big. Hubby had the hoagie sandwich and we ended up taking salad and half the sandwich with us for another time. No room for desert but they had homemade baklava which would have been our choice if we had room.
Be the first to ReplyTerrible Food Service Was Good Restaurant Clean
I ordered country steak, it was terrible and not eatable, left all but one bite on the plate. It was smothered by a glue that was supposed to be gravy. The salad was OK and the fries were OK. The other order at the table was for lasagna which was not very good also. Bill was nearly forty dollars plus to tip. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. This is one of the worse meals I have ever been served in a restaurant anywhere. Maybe the hamburgers may be OK here, do hot know but for certain I will avoid any CornerStone Restaurant. Think this may be a chain of restaurants.

A local took us here and we were not disappointed. The onion ring appetizer was terrific!!! I had the trout and my wife had the stuffed shrimp. We both really enjoyed our meals. The service was friendly and efficient.

Be the first to ReplyToxic employee may ruin your business.
My three stars are related to customer service. Toxic employees who hate their job may cause customers to hate your business. On 10.12.2022 while waiting on the Hostess to clear a table Jessica M. showed up to seat us, we tried to explain we had already been helped. Jessica M. became nasty and rude and walked away. The meal was great! but dealing with rudeness ruined the meal because it was the topic of the meal.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding breakfast meeting at Cornerstone
I was tasked with booking a restaurant for a small group breakfast meeting in Asheville. I asked around and my boss recommended Cornerstone. I previously dined at this local restaurant 15 years ago when I worked in the area. A whole lot has changed at this local diner turned modern, local dining experience. The building was remodeled and updated with modern style and local touch. The wait staff provided excellent service. We were seated in a quiet area suitable for a meeting. The menu offered a wide selection of local breakfast favorites. Lots of vegan and non-gluten meals. They serve hot, fresh coffee and large buttermilk biscuits. Everyone in my group enjoyed a great breakfast in a laid-back atmosphere. I look forward to returning very soon.

We were struggling On a Saturday night to find a restaurant with capacity for us. Tripped on this place in East Asheville. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the atmosphere and waitstaff were great.
Be the first to ReplyBland
The service is solid, but the food is rather bland. The sauces and oatmeal taste watery, the seasoning is weak, and the fried chicken has the texture of boiled chicken. This place is souless and mediocre at best.

Been here a few years back and enjoyed the food - it was not brilliant but it was good and service was reliable. No change this time, food was still good and service still reliable and quick

Found Cornerstone on line and it had good reviews. We're here just for a few days so we relied on the reviews. We decided to give it a try. Well worth the visit. The prices are fair and the portions are nice. We had the fried pickles for an appetizer, what's not to like? I asked for a side of BBQ sauce for them. We had barely started on the fried pickles and here comes our server with the BBQ sauce! I ordered the lasagna. It came with a side salad and the salad was cold, fresh, and not soggy. I couldn't eat all the lasagna. It was fresh, the sauce was well balanced, the ground beef was seasoned well. It may have been just a tad on the salty side but restaurants are known for that, so I'm not knocking them for it. My wife ordered a Cobb salad and they were generous with the veggies and meat. The place was crowded, that's a good sign. We were given a booth but it didn't have the padded seats. I can't sit on hard wood, so we requested a booth with the padded seats and Jesse Mae went and checked and found us a booth. She was very friendly and took great care of us. I asked for red pepper flakes and was told they didn't have any. A few minutes later a different server came by our table and said "Surprise! We actually have red pepper flakes! I brought them from the kitchen for you." It was a very nice night out and we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service.
