The ONLY wonderful part of this experience is the location.
Cocktails were weak. Two very tiny pieces of lobster for $80! One cup of Truffle soup for $30. The "spaghetti" that was served as part of the meal was a spoonful of cold pasta. Been to many fine dining experiences across the nation and world but this one was extremely pricy and bland tasting. Service was very good. Hate to do one star but maybe this restaurant will figure it out.
Be the first to ReplyPleasant but very slow service.
Don't go hungry. You will go through 3 bread baskets before you get your meal. I guess the idea is to have you drink your way through your meal. Although tasty, the portions are VERY small. We ordered ร la cart off of the menu. My Husband had the lobster tail. Or half a lobster tail. The piece of tail was smaller than his big toe. I've seen shrimp larger. The big kicker was when we left, it was a $17 to retrieve our vehicle from valet parking. Not that we were given a choice. Spend your money ekse
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance is really nice, food is way overpriced.
We had the waygu and they served us a sirloin. We stayed on property, and I would recommend going elsewhere.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance was great! We were seated outside.
Food was way overpriced and under delivered. We ordered the ribeye and were given an overly fatty sirloin.

Um...this was bad. I get prix fixed menus...but not when everything sucks. Sorry to be so straight forward, but this was bad. Overpriced, overrated. Food was really gross. Steak did not come as I ordered and was room temp. I'm not sure what those potatoes were, but yucky truffled crap. I can only hope the rest of our food experience in Sedona gets better!
Be the first to ReplyWe came here on recommendation.
The ambience was nice and the atmosphere was very romantic, however there were many things wrong with this establishment. We arrived early and were directed to the bar. (we walked and didn't take a car so I can't speak if they still charge $17 for valet parking). The bartenders were friendly and the cocktails were good and had good presentation. We were told our table was ready so on our way past the wait stand we were asked if we wanted the three or six course meal. This was an odd question in the moment so I said well we'll have to decide on that when we sit down. The front of house person pulled out the two menus and had us select it standing *AT* the wait stand. I thought that was such a bizarre thing. Anyway.. moving on to when we were seated... The bartender brought over the cocktails from the bar on the platter and then the waiter asked if we wanted cocktails as he approached the table with the cocktails on them? We politely declined. Then he said something akin to "you want the six course meal?" and we said yes. The initial palate cleanser came with no napkins. The bread course came and we had to ask for both napkins and a plate to place the bread. We ordered a wine and they brought out the wrong vintage compared to what was in the wine list - the waiter apologized but for the price I was expecting the older vintage. Then the next few courses came out of order. The party next to us were seated before us and they skipped one of their course and gave it to our table (we didn't realize what happened until after we started eating - that couple was not happy). The food server assisting the waiter eventually owned up to the mistake and apologized to both parties. Each course took about 15-20 minutes to receive which I thought was pretty long. Most of them were decent enough, but when the main wagyu course came, it was pretty tasteless and burnt on the outside. I don't even think it was wagyu to be honest with you. Then came the dessert - which was oversized compared to the rest of the courses - i guess some people would like that but we thought it was only ok - very rich. The other couple got so fed up with waiting we were pretty sure they actually left without paying - which was pretty ballsy, but I have to respect them for it. While the atmosphere was chic and romantic, we've been to fine dining/tasting menu places before and we think this place was pretty mediocre. Overall we were really disappointed.
Be the first to ReplyThe service was good as was the wine pairing but the food
The service was good as was the wine pairing but the food wasn't actually the opposite and the portions were so small we couldn't believe it. Actually it was a joke. On top of that the menu prices were very deceptive and what we expected to cost $450 turned out to be over $700 for two people. When you combine deceptive pricing with tiny portions of mediocre food for $350 per person you will understand why we're so disappointed and it was Valentine's Day. The fact is was Valentine's Day was the only reason I didn't refuse to pay I sent a note to the restaurant management through Open Table requesting a refund but that went unanswered. I strongly suggest everyone stay away from this restaurant.

We had a delightful multi-course meal here for Valentine's Day. It was a wonderful, upscale dining experience with live Viola music, wine-pairing, and white tablecloths. Our service was spot on, prompt, and timely. Everything was delicious and the setting overlooking Oak Creek is so romantic. We had a wonderful time. I highly recommend Cress for an amazing dinner experience while visiting Sedona to relish a true fine dining experience.
Be the first to ReplyBeautiful inviting location.
Had a walking violinist playing during dinner. Not too loud. We had the 6 course tasting menu. All was fantastic except the steak which was supposed to be Wagyu but really didn't taste or feel like it. Service was superb and they are flexible if you have food allergies.
Be the first to ReplyYou cannot beat the view and the location.
It is beautiful and such a nice experience. There was some live music. It was a lunch time buffet on a Sunday. If you have a perfect seat on the water, it is a long trip to the buffet, but the seat is worth it. I would love to come back. For a buffet, the food was really good. It didn't feel like it was sitting out under a heat lamp forever.
Be the first to ReplyWe went to Cress a couple nights before NYE.
Our final total price with a 6 course tasting and wine pairings with tip was about $820 for 2. For that price, it should have been one of the best meals of our lives. Unfortunately, it was not. The food took forever and only half of the courses were really good. The mushroom soup and the gnocchi were top notch, however the cod tart and the dessert fell short of mediocre. To summarize the night, we arrived early at about 6:10 pm for a 6:30 pm reservation, and found out we had to pay $17 for parking. On the plus side, the valet man said he would charge our car, which we later found out he did not. When we arrived inside, we were asked to wait until 6:30 to be seated, we were not offered any beverages while waiting and we were not greeted nicely either. When our table was ready we were pulled from the bar and there was an awkward moment with the bartender and hostess about moving our tabs. The first two dishes of the 6 courses were honestly amazing so we put the little inconveniences aside. However, the rest of the courses were mediocre, at best. The cod tart was not good, the wagyu was over cooked, and the dessert was too sweet. There were other patrons who were visibly upset with the service and/or food. We essentially paid rent with the price of this meal, and the service AND quality of the food were NOT worth it. The service was SLOW, we did not finish until almost 10 pm. Would not recommend, and would never go back.
Be the first to ReplyEvery few years my wife and I make the pilgrimage to
Every few years my wife and I make the pilgrimage to L'Auberge to dine at the Cress restaurant which overlooks the creek. First and foremost is the ambiance. It's intimate and stunning. Truly second-to-none. Just take a look at the video I posted of the creek, which you view as you dine. It's serene and invigorating for the soul. The reason this review is a 4-star vs 5-star is unfortunately the limited menu, very high prices, and while good, not great food experience. In previous visits to this restaurants, we've thoroughly enjoyed the food. There was options and variety. However, not sure if this was specific to New Years or a new thing, but our only option was a 3 or 6 course meal. We opted for the 3-course, which was $150 per person, drinks not included (!). I'm not one to normally criticize price, but the culinary experience didn't live up to the cost. The soup was great, the steelhead trout main dish was just ok, and the pistachio cake dessert was great. Drinks were great as well. All in all, we had a good time and enjoyed the scenery. But, for $400 with gratuity included, we feel the culinary experience could have been better.
Be the first to ReplyThey charged $35 bucks for a glass of Chardonnay.
Rip off. Absolute rip off!!! 17 to park a car and walk 100 feet to the restaurant. A BIGGER RIPOFF!!! Hostess gave attitude. Why? I have no idea. Food was good but not worth the outrageous prices. Went 100 feet to get the car and the valet didn't open the doors for the ladies. Gave him a tip but didn't deserve one. One night stay in their hotel room can cost $999 on a weekend. Room doesn't look any different than a Holiday Inn. Sad.
Be the first to ReplyWe were so hopeful going in.
The restaurant is beautiful, right on the water. The sound of the Rushing Creek, trees and lights on the beautiful stone pillars of Sedona, created a refined sense of beauty and luxury. Our waiter appeared confident, knowledgeable, and ready to deliver an exceptional dining experience. The house margaritas were absolute perfection. But the problem started quickly with the food. Food was no good to put it lightly. The muscles were fine, but had no flavor except that of the sea. No garlic or wine or butter or saffron or something to make them interesting. The salad was beautiful but bland. We had a carrot sauce pasta that was forgettable. The steak, which was touted as this incredible cut of meat was inedible. I chewed and chewed and chewed and chewed add it did not break a part in my mouth. I eventually had to spit it out. I returned it for the trout, which again had no spice at all not butter or salt or seasoning. Skin side up it was delivered and had zero flavor. It was a bit mind blowing and for such a beautiful restaurant, there were only a few tables with guests. The new chef came out and apologized and offered dessert. At that point, we had lost hope. Hopefully it will improve to its earlier reputation as one of the best restaurants in Sedona, but last night, we left, hungry. It was a pretty expensive epic fail, unfortunately.
Be the first to ReplyVery expensive, I knew it before going, but the cost
Very expensive, I knew it before going, but the cost doesn't bother me at all as long as the food is good. I truely believe you get what you pay for. But not here. $400 for 2 people got us a barely average meal. There were long waits in between courses and some dishes arrived closer to room temperature. But even worse than the expensive barely-average-meal was the $17 dollars they charge for parking!!! I was absolutely amazed.Never again.

Had the most memorable time at Cress on Oak Creek at L'auberge de Sedona this past weekend. From the beautiful morning coffee to the Chilaquiles that were over the top delicious and the mouthwatering succulent olive oil pancakes, I couldn't of asked for a better morning. The place is immaculate and service is world class, Chris was amazing and overall I wouldn't expect anything less from this establishment. Thank you, for the SEXYFOOD memories!
Be the first to ReplyVery average food, very disappointing actually.
I had the Cobb salad which was $29 very average with a minimal amount of stuff on it, half an egg, 4 small pieces of bleu cheese, a little bit if cut up chicken, barely any dressing. We also ordered the mussels, these were delicious and very fresh, generous portion $26 (why was my small salad $29) we ordered the squash soup. Soup was delicious. The setting was lovely. Service was good. Be warned, parking is $15

Be the first to ReplyMy wife and I came here on our honeymoon and we could not
My wife and I came here on our honeymoon and we could not have asked for a better experience. The staff was incredibly attentive and we were greeted with champagne. I wish I had gotten a picture of the roasted bone marrow, possibly the best thing we have ever eaten! Start to finish there wasn't a missed opportunity or sub excellent dish. The ambiance was gorgeous overlooking the creek at sunset and the violinist made it so romantic. Our server Hailey should be given employee of the year! I work as a lead server and can only aspire to her level. She was urgent without being frantic even when her section filled up in a matter of minutes. Thank you Hailey for making our first nice dinner as a married couple a perfect memory.
Be the first to ReplyCame here for breakfast.
We were greeted by the hostess who quickly seated us. The venue was spacious and clean with lots of natural light. Unfortunately they only offered seating on the patio and not the deck by the River. The menu wasn't too big so we ordered as soon as our waiter offered refreshments. I had the macchiato and my GF had a latte. For 11$ espresso, I'd expect better taste with espresso art. My GF ordered the French toast. I didn't think any special of it but I will say it was above average. I had the Chilaqulies. Honestly the best I ever had. Flavor was excellent and the chips were still a little crispy. I was impressed. Overall it was a bit pricey but parking/vallet was prompt and service was good. I can't recommend this place at this price point unless maybe you can get the seating by the River.
Be the first to ReplyThe staff, vibe, location & view are amazing.
The food is awful, disappointing at best. I read the other reviews but we were staying at the hotel and we thought, "how bad could it really be?!" It was the worst meal of our trip, and possibly the most expensive. I really hope they get a new chef....I'm really surprised that such a nice location & hotel pretty much gave up on also having good or at least mediocre food. But everyone was nice!
Be the first to ReplyWhile I love Cress, (staff, ambience, view, setting all
While I love Cress, (staff, ambience, view, setting all superb) the menu on line with the hotel site doesn't match the menu they are currently serving so I was bummed to not see the Herb chicken. Lots of shellfish options (made it tough for me with a shellfish allergy) Tuna was good (a little dry)Crispy Brussels sprouts were amazing! Almond cake was a little dry wished it had more flavor to it Drinks: Renegade and the Mezcal Prickly Pear Rita were both great!
Be the first to ReplyWent here on Black Friday 2022.
This is a nice place by the creek. They offer both in- and outdoor seating. Given the time of the year, we decided to take the in-door option. The room is very basic colors of white and gray but very stylish. The service is very attentive and very knowledgeable. We went with the a la carte menu rather than the tasting menu. We had the Cesar and Beet/Goat Cheese salads for starters. We had the Porchetta and Elk Osso Buco for the main dish. Furthermore, we finished up with Crรจme Brรปlรฉe and Almond Cake for dessert. The salads were great, both in size and well flavored. The Porchetta was well cooked and very tasty. The Elk was cooked to death. It was dry and chewy. The almond cake was very tasty and well presented with a vanilla ice cream. The Crรจme Brรปlรฉe was runny and almost liquid. For a high-end restaurant, I had hope for more than 66% success rate on cooking. It is a great place and, we enjoyed the service, the wine and some of the dishes. For a high-end French restaurant, they failed to deliver, but we would try them again to see if it was merely an off night.
Be the first to ReplyLocation is excellent, you cant beat eating on the creek
Location is excellent, you cant beat eating on the creek however the last two times, breakfast was disappointing. We will continue to go back hoping it improves, and possibly try dinner.
Be the first to ReplyRafael is the worst person ever! He should not hold a job
Rafael is the worst person ever! He should not hold a job in the customer service industry. My family of 4 came from out of town and were staying at a different location. We had a "confirmed" 10am reservation by the river. If you come in off of the main street it is very difficult to find as it set very far back within trees among many other similar looking buildings. When I realized we we're going to be late (10:05 ish), I called them to let them know and asked for help with directions. The person I spoke to helped a little and said they'd see us when we got there. We ended up being 20 minutes late. No one mentioned that they were closing for breakfast at 1030 and/or all river seating. We finally arrived at 1020 at the hostess stand and were greeted by the manager (Rafael) who happens to work the hostess stand. He asked for our name and then the confirmation number and then told us that we were late and could not be seated. I was taken aback as I I have served tables, bartended and now hold a high position within a healthcare organization so I have been in the service industry my entire life. He explained there would be absolutely no accommodations and no exceptions. There were two tables eating breakfast and about eight available by the river and many more available on the deck. It was a weekday during July so not a peak season. After pleading with him with zero compromise we had no other choice but to leave. I felt bad for the owner and the servers as they were were all just stripped of money due to this poor decision by a power hungry manager. We left and still really wanted to eat there due to the sheer beauty of the setting. I then called and made another reservation for the following morning and we were just praying we would not see Rafael. I knew we would not be late this time because we knew how to get there. We showed up five minutes early. As I approached the hostess stand it is once again manned by Rafael so I walked up very pleasantly and said we are here for our 10 AM reservation. He asked my name and then again asked for my confirmation number. When you call to make a reservation they get your phone number and text you the confirmation. I could not find it. It was never sent to me after I made my reservation! I remembered the name of the girl I spoke to when I made the reservation and I even showed Rafael my four minute long conversation on my phone to their phone number explaining who I had talked to and he said yes he knew who she was and that he would talk to her to make sure she sends confirmations in the future however there would be no accommodations made because the policy is that you have to have a confirmation number. Unbelievable! I have never been to a restaurant so rigid and strict. Once again I pleaded with him and said this is our second time here and there was plenty of tables available! This time it was 100% their fault because his employee didn't send it. I made the reservation. He should have most definitely made an accommodation and refused AGAIN! He does not deserve that job. I will never step foot there again.
