Daniela Trattoria New York Reviews from The Last Year
TOURIST TRAP
Tourist trap with poor food quality. However restaurant helps itself to a 25% tip which they automatically add to your bill. Avoid.
Good before the Outsiders
We like trying brunch places as close to our theater as possible, and Daniela’s worked for the Outsiders. The lower dining room is intimate , and the service is really good. The caprese was fine, nothing special, and my wife and I both enjoyed our omelette, she had the guacamole omelette and I had the Greek one. We would definitely come back for brunch again and might try dinner here some night.
Overpriced dinner
Pushy staff, fake nice. We ordered Penne a la Vodka. The tomato sauce was a ready-made sauce, there was no taste of vodka. When it came to paying, an 18% tip was automatically added to the bill. The dinner was a disappointment!
Delicious pollo picatta and perfectly cooked veggies.
Nice Pinot Grigio. Great service. Close to theaters and a great place to go before a show.
We had a lunch reservation before a matinee.
The location was perfect. We arrived a few minutes late and were seated right away. I was a little concerned because we were the only patrons. Not usually a good sign. The restaurant did fill up as we were eating. We sat up front so I don't know how the rest of the restaurant was decorated but up front was rustic and inviting. We started with the calamari appetizer which was good but not great. We decided to share the Caesar salad and Penne a la Vodka. The salad was good but the Penne was outstanding. The star of the show however was the service. It was exemplary. There was just the right amount of attention, not overbearing and not absent. Our server even split our orders without prompting and without an extra charge. That level of attention was very much appreciated. I would go back for the service alone.

Went to Broadway Play and saw this had gotten good reviews- in walking distance of plays so it was perfect! 6 of us dining in total. Staff very attentive and restaurant has both a downstairs and upstairs. Appetizers: Garlic Bread - Wasn't a fan, a bit crunchy and not too flavorful Mozzarella Sticks - Solid Choice Calamari- personally we like it crunchier. These tasted fresh but on chewier side. Dinner: These were overall delicious! Nothing left! The Chris Special- 2 orders and every morsel was gone! That's always a good sign in my book. Gnocchi Trevisana - Asked for slight modification on menu description- again delicious! Linguine Frutta Mara - instead of red sauce asked for a garlic oil wine - was absolutely delicious- lots of seafood and very flavorful. Probably my personal favorite of the table! Desserts: chocolate mousse and crème brûlée - both were ok . Not bad not amazing. Overall thought the main dishes were the standouts at this restaurant. And next time probably would skip the appetizers. We did order a bottle of wine and staff was very attentive and would refill on a regular basis.

We went right after a matinee show (around 5:15pm) about two weeks ago. They were able to seat us right away, our food and drinks came out with great timing and all of it was delicious! We recommend their sangria and their pasta dishes were delicious!!! Grilled chicken was so tasty and their servings were more than enough. Right recommend

The food was great! Service was good, vibes were on point, all-in-all it was a great before-Broadway show kind of dinner.
Fantastic!! Can't wait to go back.
We met family here for a lunch date and we will definitely be back. The service was great and the food was fabulous! Would highly recommend.
Pre theater brunch
Good pre theater restaurant. Good food and quick service. We were there in November 2023 and January 2024 and had a good experience both times
Fast service and tasty drinks.
The fried calamari was perfectly done and not overly fried. I got the chicken Parmesan, which came with sautéed vegetables that had an amazing roasted garlic in it. My partner got the penne a la vodka, which was good but could have been thicker. Overall a great place for a pre-show dinner with intimate vibes.
Check your bill - if possible avoid
Check your bill - we were charged double for our wine and had an extra charge added in for ordering the “daily special”! This is not a good restaurant. End of review. Avoid

Good food and good ambiance Great location for a pre theatre dinner as it is around the corner from many Broadway theaters
generous portion sizes!
I was looking for a place near my hotel to have dinner. The concierge recommended Daniele Trattoria which was nearby. It was raining out so I did not want to travel far. It is a large space on two levels with stairs leading up to the second level. It has a rustic appearance with brick walls and a cozy atmosphere. It is very clean and organized. I was seated immediately since the restaurant was not too crowded. They are open from 6a until midnight and serve breakfast. I got a glass of water and the menu to peruse after seating down. Bread was brought to the table along with butter. I ordered a glass of red wine and decided on the fried calamari and the linguine with pesto. Once my food arrived, I was surprised to see how generous the portions were-it was almost too much to eat! In summary, the portions were substantial, the waiters were very attentive and price wise it is reasonable considering the area. The real value are the portion sizes-a real deal if you are in the city with a family. The location is also optimal. I would recommend. One caveat-you will save money not using a credit card!
A complete rip-off
It is a tourist trap and a real price robbery. If you order off-menu dishes they raise the price when they see you as a tourist. Pay a fortune for not asking the prices of sangria and off-menu dishes. A complete tip-off. The average food is rather bad. I don't recommend it at all.
Somewhat Disappointed
Although we found the Service excellent, we were somewhat disappointed in the our choice of dinner. 2 of us had Chicken Francaise which was bland with no lemon flavor at all. Chicken parm and Penne Ala vodka was good. At $30 per entree, could have been much better / $4.50 per soda for a flat coke and sprite was a little much as well.
Don’t buy the specials without checking the price.
Great atmosphere and convenient location but watch out for the specials. The prices are crazy expensive and not advertised when you order!
Classic Italian Rip-Off
Classic tourist rip off. There is always one serving of a “special left” it will always be “lobster” it will be $55. Not worth that. They will say. “We can make you a Carbonara as special if you wish as not on menu”’and then charge $50 for it. (What decent Italian would not have a carbonara on the menu as standard!?) They pretty much “waterboard” you they are so desperate to get water and wine done you. They add 20% tip without asking and then leave a pen and another receipt asking for another “additional discretionary” tip. 5 people. Average food. 1 bottle of wine. $350 Don’t go in.
