I really hate slamming a restaurant on here, especially when the first time we went a few years ago, it was so amazing. But I had reached out to the restaurant the day after our situation. I was told a manager would call me back... they never did. I emailed LANDRY'S, directly, the parent company of ALL of the Del Frisco restaurants and about 50 other chains....they never bothered to email or call me back. I even filled out the online form asking for someone to call me back as my comments would't in their space allotted on that page....NO ONE CALLED OR EMAILED. So THAT is why I"m slamming them and giving a 1 Star. ZERO stars if that was an option. Here is what happened: I had made reservations using open table, over two months ago. I had dined at Del Frisco’s NYC back in 2019, celebrating my birthday and really enjoyed the experience. I usually visit NYC twice a year. Sadly, due to Covid, and with all the restrictions we had in Canada, we weren’t able to travel to NYC since 2019. I was so excited when we planned a trip to return this past December and Del Frisco’s was the first reservation I made. I’m very picky and particular when it comes to restaurants and reservations, so I was excited to visit Del Frisco’s again. Unfortunately, that excitement was crushed on December 8th. We were a party of 3, reservation at 7pm. (Reservation was made using Open Table, We had arrived at the restaurant a few minutes early, at 6:55pm. When I checked in with the host, she said they were running a little behind but invited us to sit at the bar. I understand that sometimes it gets busy and we can’t always be seated right at the reservation time. We couldn’t even get to the bar, never mind getting a seat at the bar as the restaurant beyond packed and overly crowded. The host took my number and said she will call me when the table is ready. So we waited outside. FYI, we had an 8 year old with us. We paced around outside back and forth for about 30 minutes. At 7:30, After not receiving a text/phone call or hearing our name called, I popped back inside to check on the table. Still packed to the max, I was able to push and squeeze my way back to the host desk and enquire. The host apologized and said they are still waiting for a table to open up. She continued to tell me that there were still people there from LUNCH who hadn’t yet left. I found that very unusual during this busy time that you would have patrons extending their stay when you have prior reservations waiting for tables. She took my number again and said she will call when a table is available. Looking around and seeing the other masses of people waiting to be seated, and given the time, now 7:40pm and not receiving any call backs or commitment about our reservation being honoured, we had no choice to but find alternative dining and left. We thought we’ll just pop into another restaurant for dinner while it was still somewhat of a reasonable time to be out with our daughter. We had GREAT DIFFICULTY trying to find an equivalent restaurant as a walk-in without a reservation. After trying FOUR restaurants in the area, we finally succeeded when we walked into THE REDEYE GRILL. We had explained the situation of what had happened at Del Frisco’s, how they left us hanging with nowhere to go. Redeye was fully booked in the main dining room, but they went out of their way to make up a table on the bar side. More than Del Friscos’s did for us WITH a reservation. We had a fantastic experience with fantastic service/waitstaff who attended to us and specifically our daughter. (Offered her chocolates when we first came in and while we waited just a few minutes for the table to be prepped). The night was saved, no thanks to Del Frisco’s. FYI, I had STILL NOT received a text or phone call informing me our table was now ready. It was later than we planned to sit down for dinner. The servers were quick to bring drinks, appetizers and dinner for us and our daughter. It felt great to be acknowledged and looked after. We put the stress and disappointment of Del Friscos behind us had enjoyed the evening. The next morning, still feeling ripped off and ignored, I decided to call the restaurant and try to speak with the manager to find out what had happened. When the host answered and I kindly asked if I could speak with a manager, she told me he was busy but asked what my concern was. I had told her everything that had happened the night before. I had asked again if I could speak with the manager. She told me he’s making rounds on the floor but will call me back. She asked for my cell number. I NEVER RECEIVED A CALL BACK from the manager. It is clear and obvious that at Del Frisco’s, patrons are NOT valued or given any priority, especially repeat guests. I am feeling disgusted from being repeatedly ignored and not being given the chance to have any follow up. There are far too many great restaurants in New York for us to really care for Del Frisco’s. But I felt you needed to know what had happened as you lose a repeat customer who has a story to tell others. Thankfully the rest of the week went on without a hitch and all our reservations were accepted without any issues or delays. After dining at Del Frisco’s in October 2019 and having a great experience, I had referred some family and friends who were visiting New York. I’m hoping their experience did not turn out as negative and disappointing as ours did.
