dhom New York Reviews from The Last Year
4.5. A precious find! dhom - they certainly don't shy away
4.5. A precious find! dhom - they certainly don't shy away from flavors here! Met a friend on a Wednesday evening at 6:30pm in April and came in to see the restaurant around two-thirds full, with seating inside and out on the front sidewalk setup. I'd only seen pics of the food beforehand on Yelp and was excited to try this place - and Laotian food - in person. The restaurant has a warm, dim atmosphere with lots of dark wood and a full bar. Food was served in tapas (small plate) format, so ideal for sharing. We ordered: - beef skewer $6: charred hangar steak with lemongrass and caramel fish sauce. Tender and tasty, lovely umami from the carmelized fish sauce. A tad pricey at $6 per skewer but worth trying. - crunchy coconut rice salad $12: Lime leaf, mint, lettuce, pork sausage, carrot w/ peanut sauce. Best eaten in person to experience the crunchy rice. Fresh, savory, notes of sweetness from the coconut rice. This was maybe my favorite item of the evening. - roasted eggplant w/carmelized Berkshire pork (jaew-mak-kughh) $12: this was served with fresh, raw cabbage leaves to be eaten almost like cabbage chips with eggplant dip. my first time trying a dish like this, great flavor and nice crunch from the cabbage though dip itself was a bit salty. - crispy market fish salad (naem-pa) $14: chucks of fried fish with galangal, coriander, crunchy skin & sweet carrot sauce. Similar presentation though a bit different in flavor profile than the crunchy rice salad. Sour, sweet, acid, crunch. I enjoyed this! - Brussels sprouts with caramel fish sauce and pickled peppers $14: their take on deep fried brussels that are quite popular across New Asian style restaurants these days. These didn't disappoint- the crisp texture of the leaves was a nice textural touch, and the tangy sauce paired well with the slight bitterness of the brussels. - sticky rice with spicy chili sauce $5: ok a bit pricey for rice, but I suppose each one is individually packed and steamed in a little bamboo steamer container so there's a little more work here. Overall with some form of fish sauce in most of the dishes we tried, definitely needed the rice to balance out the saltiness. What a punch of flavor all around! I'm happy we got a chance to eat here, and am certainly recommending this place to friends. They also do a bento box menu where you can select a variety of dishes to be service in a bento presentation. While I didn't try any cocktails this time around (though my friend got a couple glasses of wine), I'd be curious to try a couple next time.
I've admittedly grown a bit weary of small plate, sharing
I've admittedly grown a bit weary of small plate, sharing tasting menus where each shared plate is the price of an entree at most establishments and you barely leave full. But I couldn't pass up the chance to visit a Laotian restaurant, of which there are very few in the city. My Southeast Asian heart loved the flavors, especially that they use Southeast Asian ingredients in their cocktails. It was very easy for my group of 4 to walk in and be seated right away without reservations on a Saturday night. The space is narrow but long. The kitchen was pretty swift getting our drinks and food ready, so I loved all of that. I enjoyed my mezcal tamarind cocktail, noodle soup, chicken skewers, and calamari. Everything was seasoned well, and tasted a lot like other Southeast Asian cuisines, like Thai food. One look at their website and I see they are proud to source their seafood sustainably and their greens from local farms, which might justify some of their prices. But the bar is set high for restaurant experiences in NY, and my dinner at dhom will easily blend together with many other Southeast asian eateries in my memories.
This was my first Laotian dining experience.
Holy moly am I blown away. The flavors are no joke. Came here for happy hour and was impressed with their drinks and service. Staff was super kind and attentive. Ambiance is perfect for dates. Food was conceptually fantastic. I used my hands for the meal which made me real happy. Whatever you order make sure you use the Jeow sauce. There must be laced with something cuz it was soooo effing addictive!!!! I ended ordering side orders of sticky rice just to dip in the jeow sauce. Food was tasty served tapas/family style. Thank you for this great dining experience!

I've come twice: once for happy hr and once later in the evening. Both times the staff was very attentive. The strawberry gin drink was a treat. The other guests commented on the good music playing in the background.

This is the spot to go to when you find your self in the East Village and want something upscale and fun! Food: this place is essentially a tapas place, where you order a bunch of small plates and share with others. the food was not mind blowing and the portions are really small for the price you pay but the quality was definitely good! My favorite were the coconut salad and the tuna dish! Really delicious! I was not a fan of the eggplant because the taste profile was a bit too strong for me. Ambience: my favorite part of this place was the ambience! It had this intimate, warm feeling for dinner. After 11pm or so, they have a DJ and it becomes a club! The DJ is incredible and it is definitely a place I can come to for just drinks instead of dinner Service: good service! Loved the DJ! Everyone who works here is fun and vibe-y Price: definitely on the pricy side but I think the ambience makes it worth it
Fantastic Food, Drinks and Ambiance
Dhom, a Loatian restaurant had many interesting menu and cocktail choices. Everything we ordered was fantastic. You will not be disappointed. Almost forgot to mention that the staff was friendly and helpful with menu choices.

Dhom Review
I've been on a crazy South East Asian food kick, so when I walked by Dhom hungry on a Sunday afternoon I had to check it out. Video Games by Lana Del Rey was on when I walked in, so I knew the vibes were up. I was the only one in the restaurant, and was greeted by the bartender to sit wherever. I grabbed a seat at the bar and scanned the menu. I planned to read and journal a bit, but ended up talking to the bartender a good amount as he was a really cool individual. I ordered a Vietnamese coffee, the Crispy Market Fish Salad, a side of sticky rice, and a skewer of the Hangar Steak. The bartender said that would be a perfect amount of food, and he was spot on. At this point, Cinnamon Girl by Lana came on proving that Video Games wasn't a fluke. This is the kind of place where you will say "Omg I haven't heard this song in so long this is a bop" about 8 different times. An absolute stellar music selection. The highlights were definitely the coffee and the fish salad. The coffee came in this cool little contraption that I'm still not sure what was going on, but would be a cool little flex for your instagram or tiktok. I got y'all. The fish salad was immaculate and the perfect amount of food for one person. Lowlight was the tiny $8 skewer of the hangar steak. A good skewer, but not worth it for 8 hots in my humble opinion. The bartender did warn me it was small, so fair-play to him. As I'm wrapping up, 2 gentlemen walk in and immediately both order dry martinis at 4pm on a Sunday. Respect. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

the food and drinks were delicious and our waitress was great. the manager was hanging out with a girl at the bar and they were both being very loud as well as the bartender and a couple of other staff. the bartender would throw the metal cup and other materials loudly in the metal sink. when i called the manager out on their loudness, he reacted negatively by saying out loud "chill! you are at MY bar...". i was shocked that most of the loudness and disruptive behavior in the restaurant was coming from the manager and the staff around him. i was double shocked that he never apologized to us for his behavior and subsequent reaction. it's a shame to have a restaurant spoiled by an immature manager.
Came here during happy hour, so there was a happy hour menu
Came here during happy hour, so there was a happy hour menu with better prices. There is a bar area, and I sat at a small table in the back. The portions are pretty small and expensive for the small plates, but the food was really good! They had decorated the place nicely for Halloween, and they gave a Halloween goody bag with some candy! I had made a reservation online a few days ago (and had received multiple confirmation emails through Google), but they couldn't find my name when I arrived. However, the place wasn't crowded (just a few tables were seated), so I was able to get a table when I arrived at 6pm. The staff was friendly, and the dishes arrived around 15 mins after ordering. The crispy brussel sprouts were amazing, the sticky rice was presented well in a bamboo container, the steak skewer was good but a bit overpriced even for the happy hour deal, and the eggplant with pork was pretty good too. I think it was a good amount for 1 person, and came down to around $22.
Happy hour deal is insanely good and worth it.
Their dishes are tapss style and their skewers are fall off the stick juicy and tender. Big space with outdoor and indoor seating. Service was great and menu is uniquely made.

That's what AT sponsorships are for - and you are only paying 25% in the first year and then less in year two and three.
I beliebe @EternalAnt36 was sponsored by @PerceptiveWash44 and is now doing $25k/mo.
You can write on the top sellers profiles (type 'Top 10' in the searchbar) and then tap request sponsorship button after you found the guy or gal like to work with!
