Get into Din Tai Fung Anaheim! ๐ฅ
Din Tai Fung Anaheim Reviews
Service was rushed and food wasn't worth the hype.
Most of the items we ordered weren't even hot. I'm sure something is off bc they just opened but honestly. Not worth $100 dinner for luke warm soup and dirty bathrooms.
I really don't understand the hype behind DTF.
We went yesterday because it's a new restaurant in Downtown Disney and I was hoping it would be amazing. Let me preface that I've been to DTF in Malaysia as well as Glendale and Century City. It's 1000% better overseas, both in taste and pricing. The California restaurants are overpriced for the quality of food you get. (I've tried it several times in the past in hopes I'd change my mind and I'm always disappointed.) I made 12pm lunch reservations through their website. Getting to the restaurant in time for your reservation requires extra time since it's located in Downtown Disney. We parked at the Mickey and Friends parking lot since we are passholders and planned to visit the park afterwards. We walked vs taking the tram since the restaurant is at the end of the downtown strip (close to the old ESPN zone) and the tram drop off is at the front of the park by Earls and World of Disney. You need time to get through security at the borders of downtown. Then when you arrive, you need to wait outside in a long line with minimal shade (at least at noon) to check in for your reservation. We waited about 10 minutes which wasn't super long but still annoying when you have antsy kids and are trying to check in within the 15 min grace period. Plus, it was about 85 degrees outside! Then we had to get into another line (by the front door next to the ramp) before they called us inside. Why do I need to wait in 2 lines just to get inside for my reservation? It reminded me of when I used to hit up the Hollywood clubs forever ago and they made the crowds stand outside in long line to make the club look like a hot spot. So ridiculous. The inside is spacious and we were lucky to get a booth. Kaleo was our server. He was polite and mostly did small smiles vs carrying a conversation with me as we talked about the menu. I was shocked at the menu prices. It's $18.50 and $22 for soup dumplings (10 pieces). I know this is Downtown Disney but DANG!! And it tasted just ok! I'm a fan of XLB but Sweet Jesus, it wasn't worth that price tag. If you're a DTF fanatic, you can get lower prices at the South Coast Plaza location. But if you want better tasting and more reasonably priced soup dumplings, go to Sunny Dumpling House in Lake Forest or Northern Cafe in Irvine (2 locations). We also had their string beans, spicy wontons, and noodles with kurobuta pork. All tasted just okay and had hefty price tags as well for the quality and portions we received. I took my kids to the restroom to wash hands. The first words out of my mouth were "it's so romantic in here!" because it was DIM when I walked in! Like it was uncomfortably dark. We washed hands and both my kids told me the water was too hot. I washed my hands and felt it was much warmer than needed. (There were 2 sinks but one faucet that was motion censored so you couldn't adjust water temp settings.) As we went to exit, there was another lady in the restroom. SHE LEGIT WALKED INTO THE DOOR as she tried to exit. THAT'S how dim it was in there! Oddly enough, we had to return to the restroom after our meal to wash hands again. This time, there was a bit more light. I literally looked for a light switch to see if someone had turned off the lights before but didn't see any switches. That's so weird cause there were people in the restroom so it's not like the lights turned off due to lack of motion. I just don't get this place. We won't be returning to this DTF. I was hoping I could at least get my discount for being a Disney Magic Key holder (as the downtown Disney shops and restaurant all honor it) but nope, Kaleo told me the manager wasn't allowing for this. Just another reason to never return.
The food is amazing.
The service can be fantastic and other times not so great. We have gone almost 10 times in the past month. (Yes, we love the food, so three times a week!) Sometimes they are super helpful and other times I have waited over 30 minutes for my food to be brought to the table. I have received the wrong order a few times. When the waitresses have gone to check, I had ordered it correctly on the slip of paper, they just put it in wrong. This has happened a few times too!!
*Attention yelpers* Worse dining experience I have ever
*Attention yelpers* Worse dining experience I have ever had. I've eaten at all the restaurants on property including club33 & 1901. The lack of qualified personnel at this location is glaring. We had extreme issue with food provided and all they offered was a free dessert as it would fix the issue. Felt like an insult thinking we are only worth a dessert while our party has spent thousands over years with this company. Probably will never be back to this location ever.
I love how Downtown Disney now has Din Tai Fung.
The check in experience was very seamless with lots of people outside to help. The wait time was crazy as expected. If you don't make reservation expect to wait for at least 2 hours. The check in and waited to get seated was quick. Service was quick and food was good. The server Kwan was great. He was friendly and introduced a recommendation since it was me and my cousins first time. I truly appreciated that. The staff is attentive and friendly. I definitely think it's worth trying if you have the time or at least make a reservation.
I made a reservation, got there on time.
Didn't wait to long outside. Got seated and knew what i wanted to try from the paper menu they handed me. It's family style, everything I tried was savory. The chicken fried rice was salty but still savory, I didn't sent it back I just added hot sauce. lol. I will come back. I also ordered spicy chicken dumplings and the chocolate mochi dessert. Which is not in my photo, those were good too.
One of my favorite places to go for dumplings! I'm really
One of my favorite places to go for dumplings! I'm really excited that DTF opened at Downtown Disney, especially since I'm always here in the parks and would love to eat some dumplings before heading back home. The service, well we waited about 2.5 hours long, which not really surprised since it did recently opened and everyone is pretty much hanging out at Downtown Disney. The interior inside, wow.. it was spacious, lots of tables/booths, bar seating. Staffs were friendly. We ordered cucumber salad, kurobuta pork xiao long bao, chicken xiao long bao, shrimp & kurobuta pork spicy wontons, noodles with minced kurobuta pork. For desserts we got chocolate & mochi xiao long bao and sweet taro xiao long bao. Very dish that we ordered all tasted amazing and delicious! If you're in the parks or just doing some shopping at Downtown Disney and don't mind waiting, definitely come check this place out for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed.
The food, service and ambiance were great.
Would highly recommend Din Tai Fung to anyone looking for exceptional dim sum. I'm glad I made a reservation over two weeks in advance. They seated my party timely.
The food was very good and restaurant was very beautiful!
The food was very good and restaurant was very beautiful! Definitely recommend and will be back soon!
our first time here since they recently opened this new
our first time here since they recently opened this new location! we did walk in around 5pm and only waited 5 minutes to be seated! our server was really sweet and talkative. our food came out really quick but our server put in a drink and dish order wrong but they quickly fixed it and apologized for the inconvenience! totally understandable since they just opened. - chicken spicy wontons - string beans with garlic - noodles with spicy sauce - green milk tea with boba - lychee green tea - peach green tea with boba - shrimp fried noodles
A mandate from heaven to make divine dumplings.
Yeah, there's that good. And I only had the soup dumplings, spicy wontons and green beans and garlic. With a delicious orange green tea. So the staff is great, if you are unfamiliar with Taiwanese food, they walk you through the menu and make recommendations. Friendly staff. Bad news. You'll have to wait. Choosing the bar line is faster, making an early reservation like I did even better (they open at 10:30 AM). I hear the wait can be up to 2 hours for a table, or more on weekends. I was in Shanghai about 3 months ago and had soup dumplings in a hole in the wall little shop my friend from Shanghai said was one of the best in the city. Din Tai Fung comes as close to that as I have had outside of China.
I highly recommend
Their food and dipping sauce has an exceptional taste, made of world class ingredients. Very satisfying. The ambiance, flatware, tables are high end, servers are well trained, very accommodating and ready to serve with a warm smile.
Good... As Long As You Don't Mind Being Rushed
We were visiting from out of state, and spent $80 on Uber to get to and from this restaurant, because we absolutely loved the Din Tai Fung in Las Vegas, and were hoping for a repeat of that outstanding experience. This one did not live up to the Vegas experience. Good points: The food was good (though a notch below Vegas, which was excellent), convenient location, we had reservations so did not have to wait long, and the staff was nice. However, the ambiance was not as nice, and we felt very rushed. We generally do not take very much time when dining, so I do not like feeling rushed. We would possibly visit again if nearby, but would definitely not go out of our way to dine here again.
Amazing food as always
Second time to this location and had an even better time, if that is possible. Last time, we had to wait much longer, but we seemed to hit the sweet spot this time and only had a 15 minute wait for 4 of us. Great xiao long bao, hot and sour soup, and pork fried noodles. The thing that put it over the top is the dish of chocolate mochi xiao long bao for dessert. They are such a glorious texture with the warm chocolate busting through the dumpling wrapper as you chew. Always happy to come here and the staff was great.
Excellent local favorite
The wait was long, but it always is. I've heard such good things for years and never got around to trying it. Went with friends for a delicious meal. Especially enjoyed the Xiao Long Bao, veggies, and desserts!
Just an average Dim Sum.
First time coming here but it is just an average dim sum. Iโve tried better place and it is not impressive as others have said. The servings are small and a little pricey. It took awhile for us to get seated but the place was nice but no plans of coming back. There was no wow factor on their foods.
Great experience on par with other outlets around the world
Having dined at some of the chainโs other outlets around the world, this one is on the same excellent level. Really busy during the lunch service but found a place at the bar. Great service and friendly staff.
Always Excellent
We dropped in after a day at Huntington Beach and Newport Beach. It was a Monday late afternoon and we still had a c.1 hour wait for a table. As usual the food quality and taste is excellent along with every DTF restaurant we've visited.
great dumplings but a little rushed
We have previously visited and ate at the bar, which was a wonderful experience. Be prepared for a 2 hour wait at all times of the day. We went on a Saturday night this time, close to 9.30PM. The food was great as always, however, we felt rushed because the server forced us to place our entire order, and all the drink we were anticipating we were going to have, before the 10.15 kitchen โclosing timeโ. Still the dumplings were amazing, the bok choy was delicious, and the crab soup dumplings were out of this world good. Decent value for money spent too, we did not leave hungry.
Very good๏ผ
When I entered the restaurant, the Chinese decoration inside attracted me, and then I when I tasted the food here, I felt like I was back home
