I really like this place but I have to say this place
I really like this place but I have to say this place originally wasn't inexpensive but post Covid the prices have gotten a little bit out of control IMO.To give you an idea, the meat platter for 2 ppl with 5 kinds of meat used to be 109.95. The same platter is now 149.95! Sure it comes with all the appetizers/sauce/rice but you will definitely order more than just that.A la cart options are up from 39-49 to 59 dollars each plate. We ordered a few appetizers, the meat platter and short rib + one noodle dish and one soup. One drink per person came out to FIVE HUNDRED USD 500$ including tax and tip(4 people). Great food and service but this price point is prohibiting me from coming back any time soon

Walked in asked to pay for water just to take some meds and was declined water or they claimed they don't have glass cups something that didn't make any sense I could tell that the young lady was a little uncomfortable talking to her boss and then telling me they don't have water. Makes no sense bad first impression smells great inside though !!

Seafood soondubu and sides, particularly the radish and the cabbage kimchi, were excellent. The haemul features little baby shrimps, small mussels, baby octopi, and a few pieces of squid or cuttlefish that had a gloriously contrasting crunchy/chewy texture to the soft tofu.Would enjoy coming back to try bbq!
Be the first to Replysuper delish spot that's more upscale and classy.
you won't leave this spot smelling of kbbq. seating here is super interesting especially in the upper level. a lil tricky to get in and out of but unique nonetheless! service was wonderful, attentive and they checked on us / the meat often.
Be the first to ReplyGood korean restaurant in ktown, that's a bit pricey
Good korean restaurant in ktown, that's a bit pricey compared to other kbbq places but still quite delicious! They have an extensive wine menu (I mean wine bar is in their name) which is perfect if you're entertaining and makes it standout from similar spots in town. If you're trying to decide between BBQ and traditional Korean food, Dons Bogam has quite a large menu with a variety of choices. The seating for their bbq tables is a bit strange and little cumbersome to get in and out of. The interior gives a more upscaley classy vibe rather than a korean pocha. I would recommend for a more a formal dinner vs casual dinner. All the other patrons were 30+ and also some single diners as well. FoodGalbijjim - 10/10 If you're looking for Galbijjim, this is the spot. The short rib is tender and flavorful, slightly sweetened by the dates in the delicious sauce. There's other kbbq restaurants that offer better quality of meats/value but for galbijjim, this is literally the only place in NYC. Still can't compare to Daeho in SF but its the closest you're going to get. Samgyetang - a whole chicken stuffed with rice! surprisingly better than we were expectingPrime Chodolbagi - tasty brisket and decent portion but nothing to write home aboutThe banchan was good, high quality and each prepared simply. Our favorite was the crispy seaweed as other restaurants don't typically have this. The menu was also clearly labeled Gluten Free, Vegetarian, etc. which was easy to navigate and understand. Service was fast and their employees were well trained.Based on other reviews, it seems like we'll have to come back to check out their lunch specials at some point.

Having grown up with a dad that refuses to pay for Korean bbq because it is so easy to do at home, I hate it when my none Korean friends ask to go to Ktown to get Korean bbq. You pay so much and get so little. However, if it is on someone else's dime, why not. There are very few places in Ktown that I like to eat at and this is one of them. I came here before they moved their location with a friend who is a regular. Will not bother talking about that wonderful experience since I left a review back then. Fast forward to this past Saturday, I came here with a guy that I have been seeing for a bit. Long story short, he ticked me off on Valentine's Day and we got into a fight a few days prior. This was dinner post fight and I hoped things would fall back in line during dinner, but unfortunately we are still annoyed. I personally want to thank the Dons Bogam team for squeezing us in last minute. A pain dating a last minute guy that doesn't plan ahead and think things just fall in line. Korean bbq on a Saturday without reservations? He must be trippin! I was impressed once again by their impeccable service and how things didn't change regardless of COVID. We got the five type beef set and I threw in a small cold noodles because duh! If you are a proper Korean raised well, that is what you eat your meat with. I love how they have a single serving perfect for pairing with the meat. Some places make you get a huge bowl and it is just too much food! Honestly I can go on and on about how great this place is for Korean bbq, but you won't get it until you go yourself. Please do make a reservation and don't pull the crap that I did and call day of. Although they will do whatever they can to accommodate, it is not nice. Regardless of my personal problem, I had a good time and enjoyed the food, the service, and the staff. Thank you always from the bottom of my heart (less than 3).

One of our favorite spots. Highly recommended
Be the first to ReplyWow! There's a reason Dons Bogam is in TimeOut Top 10
Wow! There's a reason Dons Bogam is in TimeOut Top 10 Korean BBQ for 20022 & why the restaurant has been awarded at least one Michelan award! I have tried to eat bulgogi multiple times in the US after living near Busan and absolutely loving bulgogi. I had practically given up finding anything that came close to my experience. Not only did their food taste authentic, the table setting was too. I felt like I was in Korea but made for westerners. We had a place to put our feet. The staff at Dons Bogam were very accommodating. They're customer service is on point! I got to the restaurant early and the hostess let me sit down. It was nice to have the food prepared for us as none of us were familiar with how to cook on the bbq grill. The wine they helped us picked matched the food wonderfully. They were Covid safe even as we are coming out of the pandemic.
Be the first to ReplyLoved our mad dinner here.
Arrived at 745 for our reservation and the place was slammed. We were quickly seated and informed we had ~ 1.5 hrs to finish. We ordered the prime combo for 2, and some warm sake. The prime combo consisted of 3 different meats and the typical banchan you receive at Korean bbq spots. Food was great, service could be slow at times asking for refills but overall a great experience.
Be the first to ReplyNot great Korean food & overpriced.
We had beef tongue, pork belly, raw beef bibimbap & the typical small plates. Everything was bland except for the very salty sauces. I have eaten at many Korean places at K-town before, including Dons. I didn't love it when I went the first time, but decided to give it another try because I liked the modern, sophisticated ambiance. Unfortunately, food wasn't any better the second time around. Probably worse. And the ambiance was terrible. We were seated next to the busing station & the wait staff just threw plates, trays and glasses around with no regard to the guests sitting next to that area. They won't be seeing our money again. There are many other better places to choose from in the area.
Be the first to ReplyThis place used to be much better.
The bbq beef was just ok. DO NOT order the seafood platter. For $95 I would expect to be much better quality of seafood. Instead, it is so dry. It is like plastic food display. If they don't know how to cook it. They should not be serving it. It is not eatable. We let the waiter know. He simply replied "if cook it at the table will be even more dry." Needless to say, we will not be back.
Be the first to ReplyFast, attentive service and large menu selection.
I'm usually not a fan of this type of dining but I was left with a much more favorable impression after this visit.
Be the first to ReplyI came here for a great lunch today with a colleague.
They have weekday lunch specials around $20, which is a little pricey for lunch, but you do get a lot of food. The restaurant is modern and the tables are spread out, so you can enjoy your meal without having other customers right next to y, unlike some other smaller restaurants in K-Town.With the lunch specials, you can choose your main dish of various meat options (short ribs, pork belly, chicken, etc.) or vegetables and a soup/stew.I chose the DON Special ($19.95+) which is barbecued pork belly. And for my stew, I choose the "non-spicy soft tofu and seafood stew," which was basically seafood soondubu.I really liked that you could enjoy both a mini soup and BBQ at the same time. Both were very tasty, as well as the banchan (side dishes) With the price point, this wouldn't be an everyday lunch kind of place, but I'd recommend it for an occasional splurge.
Be the first to ReplyOrdered the galbi tang for delivery to the office yesterday.
Everything is always packaged nicely and delivered hot. Both the rice and noodles were fresh and there was a good portion of galbi...a very comforting dish. Added value with the vacuum sealed bonchon, which was fresh and tasty! I have also tried their kimchi jigae, which is also amazing. Have only ordered delivery and am looking forward to visiting them soon.

This was a great place for lunch! We arrivd 30 min early for our lunch reservation and they sat us right away. I loved the traditional in-floor seating which was actually cool and comfortable and not awkward. Service was fine and quick. They served us some pretty good sides, and I had an ok Asahi on tap. We started with the seafood and scallion pancake, which was more scallion than seafood, but very good. Japchae glass noodles were great, as well as the hot stone kimchi bulgogi bipimbap. The surprise for me was the bul-dak pan fried chicken, as i wasn't sure what to expect, but it was delicious, especially with probably the most perfect sticky rice I've ever had. We didn't have any actually Korean barbecue today, but what we had was delicious.

Came here when it wasn't too busy on a weekday so I didn't have to wait but there were plenty of meat options and it was priced similar to the other restaurants in the area. I got their rice cakes as my side and it was pretty good. Great side dishes and the inside ambience is really interesting especially the tables that kind of look like they're sunken in but not really. Would be a great place to host a dinner
Be the first to ReplyOverall pretty solid spot for kbbq in ktown.
Definitely recommend getting reservations here because space fills up pretty quickly. I like the set up of the grill and the space. I got a couple of meats to try like the beef tongue and the beef platter. Prices were pretty steep here though so prepare to make a dent :( the beef tongue was pretty good! Also got the cold soba noodles here and I did not like it that much cause the green tea soba noodles were strong tasting. It didn't taste like cold noodles in other spots and I wasn't a huge fan of it.

Service was impeccable during my visit here, every small consideration was provided for with consistent attentiveness. The food quality was solid and the side dishes provided were extremely well made! Would thoroughly recommend although the prices are relatively high for me (coming from Vegas/California) I believe it was still worth it overall.
Be the first to ReplyWe dined outdoors as this restaurant has individual rooms.
Highly recommend all three dishes we ordered - Bulgogi, Fried Pork & Vegetable Dumplings and Pork Marinated in Cabernet Sauvignon.
Be the first to ReplyGot a last minute reservation and it was delicious.
The meat was incredibly juicy and high quality. It was plenty for two people, unless you were absolutely starving. Not too badly priced either for what you get. Also looked great for groups with very long tables. Fun and cozy atmosphere!

One of the best, if not the best, Korean BBQ places we have been to. A definite go to. Better quality and service than the others on 32nd street

Dons Bogam BBQ and Wine Bar is a very cute and unique restaurant. When seated you'll notice how the chair look like it's on the floor but there's a hole under the table to put your feet. When I went there was no wait, they sat you down immediately. The food was very good.. I recommend trying their bulgogi Ttek-boki.. very different yet equally delicious as the original ttek-book.
Be the first to ReplyThis review is for their food ordered through delivery.
Big portions, lots of banchan, neat & clean packaging (they seal the banchan and bap dishes with plastic covers that you have to tear open). Looove the samgyetang! Thank you for making my self-isolation life better!
Be the first to ReplyThe restaurant is beautiful.
I noticed the diverse diners (tourists, families, couples, friends, and business tables). The Kbbq meat was delicious and expertly cooked by the primary waiter. Bon chon was delicious and were continually replenished. The wait staff was one of the stars of dinner. They explained the menu, asked for allergies, and communicated the allergy requirements to the entire staff. Our primary waiter was also very good. He was attentive and engaging both explaining the Kbbq meats and how we may enjoy it. I am definitely coming back often for the food and the service.

My wife had been craving some Korean BBQ so since it was a special day we selected this restaurant. Overall the ambiance and service was very good. The lychee martinis were also excellent. It's a little different where we had a server cook the meats on the grill. The kimchi was good, some of my meat was a little tough and needed salt (which was provided) I think the marinated meats would have been a better choice. However, we had a lovely evening and left full
