Eddie V's Prime Seafood Newport Beach Reviews from The Last Year
Excellent food, nice atmosphere, great service.
It gets very busy and can get loud. Our waiter treated us like royalty and that is what makes the difference between a good restaurant and a fine dining experience.
We were here for happy hours.
Their service was very good and attentive. The crab cake and BLACK TRUFFLE TARTARE were amazing !
A bit unassuming given it's in a regular shopping center.
.. but one of the best spots in Newport! Their food and service is exceptional. We have dined here many times over the years, and their food quality and service is very consistent. They have a great menu. Both their steak and seafood options are delicious. They also have fun cocktails and interactive presentation with smoke, etc. Highly recommend all of their seafood appetizers, especially the tuna! We visited last night for my husband's birthday with a small group. We originally had reservations at a popular steakhouse in Laguna. They were unable to accommodate two additional guests. My husband was disappointed at first, but the Eddie Vs experience was fantastic, and better than he had hoped for. The manager Eric and our server Brian were both wonderful and took the very best care of us. Thank you for an amazing birthday dinner!
We were greeted when we arrived and when we left.
The service and staff are incredible. Sasha took great care of us---explaining options since it was our first (but not last) time. Joe came over with a tasty amuse-bouche. My husband had the ceasar salad and I loved the lobster bisque--the chunk of lobster is presented in a warm white porcelain bowl that is covered. They pour the lobster bisque over the crisp and lobster so the lobster is perfect, not chewy. That stock is real lobster stock. Fantastic. My husband had the ahi, and I had the sea bass. We shared the asparagus and delicious crab fried rice. The food quality, temperature, taste and presentation were top-notch. Bananas foster and butter cake are my favorite desserts. Already so full, it was so kind of the chef to send over a sampler. It was amazing. The ambiance is a little loud, but that's ok because it's very family-friendly.
Eddie V's will definitely be in anyone's list of " must go
Eddie V's will definitely be in anyone's list of " must go back fine restaurants." This time we were there on December 20th 2023 for a special occasion dinner on a rainy night. Soft lighting, elegant decor and music all welcomed us into what was going to be a memorable dining experience. The serving staff not only looked flawless but were highly knowledgeable, friendly and authentically able to explain details of menu selections and wine. Our wonderful waitress helped me decide on the Mediterranean Branzino reassuring that even the skin would be enjoyed; and it certainly was THE BEST I have had. We also ordered red wine, their Jumbo Lump Crab Cake, Surf n Turf with the South African Lobster best lobster in flavor and texture, Grilled Asparagus and for a culminating experience the "on fire" Banana Foster Butter Cake. All we were served was best and we were impressed to find a staff these days aiming to make their guests feel as they are their only ones there, the chef making sure each entree is "perfection" to the eyes and palate and a manager who is proud of the quality, presentation and comfort they offer quietly making his rounds to discreetly chat with guests to check on the team's performance and our level of pleasure. When it comes to fine dining in OC this restaurant is at the top of our list. More than 5 Stars! Thank You!
The food, detail and personal attention was outstanding!
The food, detail and personal attention was outstanding! Our server Cody was great! My steak was perfect!! Eddie V's made my anniversary special! Thdd we crab fried rice and Salmon were so good. Ambiance was elegant
The food and drinks here were superb.
But what made the experience that much better was their phenomenal service, led by Eric and Joey. I would highly recommend Eddie V's for a dinner night or a stop for drinks.
We had a great experience at Eddie V's.
We were celebrating our 25th Wedding anniversary. We arrived a couple minutes early for our reservation. We were seated in about 5 minutes. We were shown to our booth and were very surprised to see red Rose pedals on the table and an Happy Anniversary Card. The table was in a nice area of the restaurant. Our server Brian, introduced himself and asked if we would like some water. He left and gave us a few minutes to look over the drink and wine menus. He came back shortly and took our drink order. Brian was very friendly, and wished us Happy Anniversary. He told us to take our time and look over the appetizers. He left and after a few minutes he came back with my Dirty Martini and a glass of Rose Champagne for my wife. The martini was perfect. My wife ordered a salad and I ordered some oysters on the half shell. The salad and the oysters were delicious. He gave us plenty of time to enjoy our appetizers then came back to tell us the specials and let us order our dinner. At no time did we feel rushed. Every time Brian came to our table he was friendly and visited a little. After about 15 minutes our dinner arrived. I had the Sea Bass and my wife had the Scallops. Both dishes were to die for. After dinner we had a Lemon Tart for desert. The Chef also gave us a Banana Foster desert for our Anniversary. It had a scoop of ice cream with it. We were there for about 2 hours total. The restaurant was not loud, it was about right. In all this was a great place to celebrate our special evening. Great Ambiance, Great food and Brian gave us over the top service. I Highly recommend Eddie V's. You will not be disappointed.
This is my third Eddie V's restaurant I've been to.
San Diego, Los Angeles and now Newport Beach. This location so far is the best of the three. We ordered bone in New York strips with roasted Brussels sprouts and creamed roasted potatoes. Steak cooked to our liking and very well seasoned. Sides were very tasty and freshly cooked. Wine list is extensive and cover all the bases. Service was top notch and attentive. Noise level was a little loud to my taste but not a dealbreaker. Lighting was dramatic. I extremely recommend Eddie V's for your next steak craving.
The food was awesome.
I had an issue with the spice on the stuffed shrimp but once I explained why I couldn't eat it the manager Megan didn't just assume I was being a difficult guess she came and spoke with me and my guess found out the issue and immediately corrected it. She added the notes to my profile so that the next time I come the host will know I cannot have anything spicy. Then she brought me a complimentary calamari. I really think she went above the normal and didn't judge but came to see what the problem actually was. I highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Kim, our server was phenomenal.
Great Seafood Tower
Terrific Seafood tower- well priced compared to the Harbor side restaurants and better value. The atmosphere is romantic and feels old world which was very fun. Recommended
WORST EDDIE V'S - NOT A LOCATION FOR FINE DINING
Worst Eddie V's of all of them on 1370 Bison Ave in Newport Beach! I went on a Saturday night for dining with a party of 3. We were expecting the usual Eddie V's signature fine dining experience. It was more like a loud and busy sports bar on game night with no upscale dress code. All around terrible experience. And they ran out of certain menu items to top it off. Our waitress was actually doubling as a bar tender. The place was jam packed with casual diners, many in inappropriate street clothes, TV's over the bar showing basketball games. So noisy we couldn't hear ourselves talk or even hear the waitress without her having to nearly scream to be heard over all the noisiness. I would expect this for a TGI Fridays and pay TGI Friday's prices. But our bill was over 3 hundred bucks and we all felt cheated after the experience. The waitress was friendly but because she was busy bartending and rushing to serve drinks, she could not give us the patient fine dining experience we went there for. Waste of money but we learned and will not be going to this Eddie V's ever again unless the menu is half price!
A Perfect meal
Went for a friends dinner the other night and wow we were blown away. The service was incredible, and food was even better. We started with an assortment of oysters which were great, I got the 22oz prime ribeye and my friend went with the scallops. Both were really good, my steak was perfect the his scallops were seared great and melted in your mouth. For the side dishes we got the truffle Mac and cheese which has fresh shaved truffle on top (probably my favorite thing we ate) it was super cheesy and just had some much flavor. The crab fried rice was so good as well and had fresh lump crab on top. The potatoes aug raton were to die for! So cheesy and soft and had a great crisp to the top layer. We also split the 24 karot martini which was excellent. Overall I’m dying to go back, one of my new fav restaurants. I highly recommend to anyone!
Best Au Gratin Ever!
We celebrated a good friend’s birthday at Eddie V’s which is her favorite restaurant in Newport. We’ve eaten at at least 3 other of their locations across the country. They have consistently excellent, high quality food, and delicious preparations. Clara, our server, was vivacious, knowledgable about her menu and specials, and made this occasion a special one. Luis, our busboy, was attentive, and made sure we always had water and bread, and cleared our plates at the right time. The smoke Old Fashioned was presented well, and was great. The beet salad was generous. The ladies had the special which was fresh swordfish with Alaskan King crab. This was tasty, but we all felt the portion was a bit undersized. Not so with my bone in New York steak was prepared nicely. The highlight to the meal was their fabulous Au Gratin potatoes which we unanimously agreed was The Best we have had at any restaurant. We were scraping up every succulent cheesy morsel. They served a complimentary bananas Foster for our friend’s birthday. Many restaurants today, sadly so absolutely nothing for special occasions. Kudos to Eddie V’s for honoring and appreciating guests who celebrate with them. It shows appreciation and respect.
Eddie V's in Newport Beach -- Excellent experience
Recently enjoyed an excellent dining experience at Eddie V's in Newport Beach with my daughter. Everything about our dining experience was excellent from the hostesses, to the bartender, to our servers/waiter, to our delicious meals. My daughter enjoyed surf (lamb) and turf (king crab legs), while I enjoyed lobster bisque, and an excellent NY Strip. Kudos to our server, Hung, who answered all of questions (gluten free stuff), continually kept our glasses full, and had an excellent sense of humor. We look forwarded to returning. I definitely recommend Eddie V's for an upscale dining seafood/steakhouse experience.
VIP Anniversary Dinner
We booked our 50th anniversary dinner at Eddie V's and were not disappointed. We were treated like VIPS. Our table had rose pedals and a nice card wishing us a happy anniversary. Our server was amazing and very attentive, even on an extremely busy Friday night. We started with steak tartare. That was served tableside by the manager. As main courses, I had scallops and my husband had seabass. Both were melt in your mouth. The meal is a la cart and had difficulty selecting accompasniemensts that would go well with our meals. I thought some were a bit overpowering for the entrees. We did not order dessert but they brought us a very nice complientary dessert. It was a relaxing meal and the perfect choice to celebrate such a special occasion.
Excellent filet and lobster!
The service really enhanced our dining experience tonight. Fyodor was awesome! We had the filet and lobster and both were terrific. The filet was perfectly prepared, seasoned just right and done exactly as I ordered it. The lobster was a nice sized 7 oz. tail from South Africa that was really sweet and delicious. We started with Caesar salads that were very tasty. Nice ambiance. Really an enjoyable evening! Definitely a repeater!

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
