Historic hotel great stay
Great stay. Friendly and fast check in. Rooms are small but that's expected in a historic hotel. Room was clean, bed comfy and shower was great. Shower was hot and awesome pressure. Dedicated parking lot. I could see my car from the room. Would stay again.

Great customer service and very clean. Good place to stay. It’s an old hotel, so the rooms are small. But, that’s to be expected and they are very clean and comfortable. Lots of local restaurants around. Sol is the best!

It's a nice hotel. I have been here a few times and it's always been a nice stay. The family running the hotel is very kind, welcoming and willing to help. I've stayed in a few different rooms and the beds were comfortable in all of them. Some of the rooms might be a bit on the smaller side, but they are comfortable and the space is well used. The hotel is quiet and peaceful, a nice place to rest and relax after being out and about.

WE HAVE ENJOYED OUR STAY AT THE HOTEL VERY MUCH AND WE HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. THE STAFF WAS WONDERFULL AND THE LOCATION IS PERFECT WE STAYED FOR 17 DAYS AND IT WAS EASY TO GET AROUND FROM THAT LOACTION

Warm friendly staff, quiet location (but good eats within a block or two), and Comfy beds. Good size rooms. No Breakfast. We enjoyed 'Mmm Cake' for brunch. and great live at 'Lime in the coconut'. Have fun!

Very comfortable place to stay. Nice and quite. Bed was super comfortable. Great location close to many restaurants. Convenient parking, and Karen was a great host! Will stay here the next time I'm in town.

I would stay there again. The bed was very comfortable. They accommodated my down allergy by putting on an alternate bedding. The only problem i had was the water pressure from the shower head. It wasn't strong enough to rinse the shampoo from my hair so i tried to use the sink. That wasn't much better as my hair went down the drain, kinda icky.

Excellent hotel with a friendly staff. Very clean and center to many things you can walk to. Stayed here with my mom for a short trip and I wish we would have stayed longer! Excellent Hotel and will definitely come back!

Small, quiet, older hotel. Rooms were too small and smelled a bit, probably due to the old carpet all in the halls and the rooms. Not enough room for belongings or to get ready. No full length mirror and no bathroom counter space. Although check-in was great, I probably won’t be staying here again.

Acceptable for the price, we were here for business. No breakfast, no elevator, the rooms and bed are for two very small adults. The coffee like jet fuel. Cleanliness acceptable. Again, acceptable for the price. Think 1930’s comforts. Thats what you get.

My husband and I stayed at the El Primero Hotel for just one night. Unfortunately it was just one night. This is one of the historical Hotels were we instantly felt at home. We were greeted with a warm welcome and a friendly reminder that our comfort is their highest priority. And it really was. The Room was tastefully furnished, the bed was heavenly comfortable and the overall cleanliness was just unbeatable. This Hotel will definitiv be our first stop the next time we are in San Diego. I give it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️‼️

The hotel was easy to find and close to several restaurants. A 7-Eleven store was right across the street. During our 2-night stay, we met innkeepers Sol and Lisa, who were both warm and friendly, like family from home. The room and bathroom were very, very nice, clean and comfortable. Complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and a large selection of good quality tea, were provided near the front desk. An attractive outdoor dining area with several tables and chairs was also available for guest use. If we ever return to visit this area, we would definitely consider staying at this excellent hotel again.

Room and facility very clean. Management very friendly and helpful with any questions. Great visit with relatives and enjoyed touring SanDiego. Would stay again. Whale watching was highlight of the trip.
Be the first to ReplyStaying with "family" while visiting family.
My dad recently moved to the Senior Living Community at Fredericka Manor. El Primero's location (and price) were great for an extended stay. Just down the road from Dad, we could explore the cute neighborhood of downtown Chula Vista, but also have easy access to CA State Route 54 and I-805. Living out of state, and planning to visit more often, it is nice to know I have a second place to call "home" when I am in Chula Vista. The owner, Karen, was incredibly friendly. This kind of warmth doesn't happen at hotel/motel chains. I am looking forward to my next stay at the historic boutique hotel.

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. The el Primero has charm, is quiet and perfectly situated for a stay in Chula Vista. I loved staying at this hotel...can't say enough good things about the people, vibe and location.

My new home away from home! I have stayed at El Primero twice this month. I have a family member who is in the hospital nearby. The family that runs the hotel is SO nice! They were very accommodating, helpful, and kind. Always asking how my family member was, helping me with a package I needed to have delivered, and all around wonderful hosts. The rooms are very comfortable and quiet, and I love the art deco design and details. I loved the morning coffee and the little courtyard. Free parking is a bonus! The neighborhood is great and cute. I felt very safe, even when I was there alone. Walk to tons of restaurants (and the hospital). I highly recommend El Primero! I'll be back.
Be the first to ReplyCute, Wonderful Hotel
A staple of downtown Chula Vista, this hotel is a must! A family owned location, we had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners. She walked us to our room and even gave us a quick rundown about the history of the hotel and the importance of what each room represented! This place is cute, chic and has amazing customer service. Would definitely consider booking here again. Thank you!

Loved it, loved it!!! Their opening statement about coming back as family...we felt we started as instant family. Cleanliness was absolute. Beds were great. Bathroom was adequate. Quiet and quaint and cute. This historic hotel was a unique experience. Plus having Chula's 3rd Street right out the door was an added bonus. Thank you Karen & Mama, Mary & Karen, et.al.

I love this place! I love the quaintness, the atmosphere, and the owners. I was made to feel right at home even before my actual arrival. A major event for me was about to occur in Chula Vista. I was being reunited with my brother after a forty-five-year disconnection. Keren was an emotional support. This is way beyond her duties. However, she "stepped-up" to the plate and beautifully executed an instant friendship. You know the kind that occurs while traveling. I call it a "traveler's kinship". In return, she shared the family love for each other and the hotel. By the way, they are so friendly that one cannot help but be in a good mood by the time one steps out of the hotel for the day. Great way to start your day! Also, there is a beautiful park one block away. I walked it every day. Thanks Keren! Thank you, El Primero Hotel!
Be the first to ReplyQuaint family owned boutigue hotel in the heart of Chula Vista
I found this hotel when scheduling a stay for a retirement party in Old Town Chula Vista. This is a quaint family-owned hotel. It is very clean and the rooms are modernized. A special touch is that each room is named after a point of interest or town in the San Diego area. The owner Karen is usually there to greet you and is very friendly and accommodating. Centrally located it provides a great place to stay in the south bay of San Diego. I have stayed there many times since when I go to Chula Vista to visit my elderly father. I highly recommend trying a stay at this hotel.
Be the first to ReplyKaren is Literally an Angel
Karen and her entire family are angels. Seriously the nicest, most genuinely kind people I have ever met. They are warm and sincere and go above and beyond to make your stay the best. The hotel is truly lovely. I love the 1930s vintage feel!!! The rooms are perfectly tidy. I had the most amazing stay ever and will happily return. Karen and Tina, thank you so much for everything.

We absolutely loved staying here. The boutique hotel is a historical building that is beautifully decorated with lots of old black and white photos of the area from previous decades. The hospitality is amazing as this is a family owned business we received all the attention we needed immediately. Karen greeted us for a 10pm check in and was very welcoming. I highly recommend staying at El Primero
Be the first to ReplyGreat location and wonderful staff
This is a cute boutique hotel. The location on 3rd Avenue is close to dining and easy to get to from either the I-5 or 805 freeway. The area is quiet and the beds are pretty comfortable - a little firmer than I like but still comfortable. Each room is named for an area in San Diego - nice touch!
There is a nice courtyard with tables. The hotel staff is WONDERFUL. A very nice experience.
Lovely in every way!
Are you tired of chain hotels, and staying in their cookie-cutter, lookalike boxes? The experience at the charming El Primero Hotel couldn’t be more different, and it was lovely in every way. Karen gave a very personal touch, helping us with local information and ideas for restaurants. The rooms are comfortable and well-maintained. They are also quiet, and we slept very well. Cannot recommend El Primero too highly!
Be the first to ReplyRefused Service
After driving all day from Flagstaff and having reserved and paid in full for a two night stay months ago, I was denied service because I have a service dog, which is against the law! I’ll be suing them!!
