We'd went for dinner, from walking in to drinks, food & service was excellent. Sat outside on patio nice weather. I had the steak and it was one of the best steaks I've ever had, cooked perfect and tasted amazing and so tender. Next time in Vail I will definitely eat there again.
Whoops I did it again.
...love this spot! Stopped in on a Monday night ~ 7 and while the bar was full - we got a nice table in the back. Service was spectacular as was the food!! Love the warm sourdough bread they serve & my son said it was the BEST steak he ever had (8 oz filet) & the side of fries he got were embarrassing in the massive portion size) - he loves them. The Grand Hyatt had recommended the burger.. and while I felt funny ordering (I was eyeballing the salmon) it was DELICIOUS! Wow, so good and perfectly prepared. Also served with a very generous portion of fries...we could have split those alone. Forgot that I don't love the marg (the mix has a funny flavor) - but i ordered it! Great spot to sit and talk, very comfortable & I did I say exceptional service!! Wish I had room for the ding dong desert...next time...
Sad Excuse for a Steakhouse
Had dinner w friends and family of 8. Positives - they got the drinks correct and they had water. Negatives- the steak. It’s a steak house, right? You’d think that if you ordered a $80 porterhouse it would be good. Wrong assumption. The steak was tiny, poorly cooked and of poor quality. I’ve seen better steaks at ShopRite. It was cut so thin that it was a joke. I complained to waitress and they did nothing. Manager didn’t even inquire. They couldn’t give a sh@t. Wine list is also underwhelming. Not much to pick from less than 200 a bottle. Appetizers were of Fridays quality. Hard pass. John Elway should pull his name from this lame excuse for a steakhouse.

Let me start by saying the service was good and it is a nice restaurant inside. The 4 of us in our party were disappointed with our meals. Just nothing to remember or rave about. Also ordered the chocolate chip cookie with icecream for dessert and it was good but nothing special at all, and I would suggest 2 scoops of ice cream for $13 price would be nice.
The 3.
2 star rating here is not reflective of the actual, current, food/service experience. Had dinner here with a large group and everything was excellent. The steaks, apps, and sides were all delicious. Service we experienced was friendly and on point. I note some folks are complaining about the prices. It's Vail- not exactly a "budget destination". Also whoever said "wines are 3x-5x retail" - I'd like to know where you buy your wine. The wine list is reasonably extensive and with prices on par with other high end restaurants. For context, we also had dinner at Mountain Standard and Vendettas and the food at Elways was quite a bit better Don't be misled here by the low star ranking

Honestly not sure why this doesn't have a higher rating, i've been coming to Elways for years now and make an effort to stop in Elways because of how damn good the steaks are.
Elway's consistently impresses me.
The ambiance, the food and service are unparalleled. The lamb chop lollipops are an absolute MUST. I almost always get the ribeye and it's prepared to perfection. This time I tried the burger and was not let down. A few mentionable items that were delicious are the espresso martinis, calamari, lobster tails, and the mushrooms. The server, Sibin, was exemplary. We can always rely on Elway's for a memorable evening!
In a pinch it's ok but nothing inspiring..
Elway's - pretty much just steak here unless you like fish. In the TripAdvisor reviews several people complained about too much salt on their filets so I requested no salt just pepper and I ordered an 8oz filet. And a glass of Sangiovese $12. 6oz that has quite a bite so I went with the Sauvignon as a replacement. Everything is ala carte. The filet was burnt on the outside that for me ruins the taste on the inside - I ordered it med-rare, and it was still overly spiced. Who eats here more than once - maybe the hotel guest's? There are 7 tables facing the pool and the outside so if you don't reserve early good luck on a view outside. I wouldn't recommend Elway's unless you stayed at the Lodge then you've got a go-to if all else fails. As a side note I had a rather nice view by the window (except for a heating vent blowing up at me from the floor) The lodge has a nice outside pool encircled by rooms above.
Nice ambience.
Friendly service. Vail-appropriate pricing for a couple of 8-oz filets. The steak rub is 'not gluten friendly, not soy friendly, not nut friendly' but tasted delicious. Perfect touch of crunch on top of a perfect grilling. Great sautéed mushrooms and baked potato with everything. We enjoyed our quiet, low-key meal. Then key lime pie to top it off. Well done.
Maybe this was just a bad night
We went for dinner wanting a steak. We were seated promptly on a Tuesday. The waitress would disappear for periods. To be honest she had at least two parties of 6 and 8 diners. We ordered a filet and a New York strip. My fiancé said the filet was good but the strip was bland and very tough. The was much too much gristle. The mushrooms were tasty but the broccoli was actually anemic. The stalks were almost as while as white asparagus and no real flavor and so overcooked. Not good and not pleasant. After giving up on the strip, we asked for the check. After a sizable wait we received the check and presented the credit card immediately. The card was left and 15 minutes later picked the card up, only to wait again. The valet parking at the lodge was validated. The elevator also was slow and very slow to open . I was concerned I was stuck but it finally opened. Overall not my favorite experience
Won’t be back
The artichoke appetizer was delicious!! But the Chilean sea bass was so fishy it was inedible. They offered to comp our dessert but we chose to just leave. The steak was over cooked . Not a great experience.
Gone Down hill the last few years.
Super expensive. Menu is more limited than during Covid. Staff is not exited about their jobs.
Elways Great place for steaks
Steak was great and service was fine . One of best steaks the seasoning was excellent . All the other accompaniments were also very good. This in spite of restaurant just re-opening for the summer a few days ago . The boys also had dessert which they said was very good .
Indeed this was the best filet mignon steak ever!!!
We had dinner here during shoulder season, walked in without reservation and they accommodated us. Seated in the back "all windows" section with great view!! Lovely ambiance. Our server, Armando, was absolute amazing. One of the best experience at a steak house. Ended up getting the 8 oz filet mignon and the twin lobster tails. Got a side order of the brussels sprouts with pancetta and roasted pine nuts. Our family always talked about Vail Elway's has the best steaks ever. Well, now we've tried it, we agree 100%. Over Ruth's Chris, The Metropolitan, Daniel's Broiler. This was a great dinner outing. Really enjoyed it. The dessert, key lime pie, was the only thing that was average.
Best Steak ever and drinks are amazing
Best Steak ever and drinks are amazing love the service super friendly and everything we ate was fresh
Avoid at all costs
Everything about this experience was terrible. It started with a crab that had the cocktail sauce all over the bottom instead of on the side, which completely destroyed the flavor. Our first glass of wine was terrible, and had to be sent back. Then we ordered a porterhouse, which was overloaded with salt and other spices that completely destroyed the flavor. The service was mediocre at best. This was one of the worst experiences that we’ve had an at a restaurant in a long time. They even charged $2 more for blue cheese olives. Not sure what other people see in this restaurant.
Dinner party of 4.
Earlier reservation (6 PM) after a great day of skiing. Drinks and wine were outstanding and reasonably priced. The filet was nothing short of perfect as compared to Ruth's Chris, Charley's, and other steak houses. Two members of the party had steak tacos which were tasty and another member had the burger. Our service was nothing short of spectacular and I wish I could remember the name of our server (she had a Bulgarian accent). Overall, many thanks for a wonderful dinner!
So Good!
Go here every time we come to Vail!! Love the Lamb Lollipop appetizer. Fun to eat at the bar or at a table and the servers are all so great.
Excellent food and service.
We were staying at the lodge at vail and went here for dinner one night. The ambience was quiet and intimate. Will definitely dine here again if we have the chance.
Worst service ever
The lady that took our order never gave it to the chef, we were waiting for more than 1 hour and she never came along, worst service ever!! She didn’t even have the courage to came and told us the truth she sent someone else to tell us about her mistake, I’m never ever going back!!
