Eventide Oyster Co. South Portland Reviews from The Last Year
Pricey, but worth the try.
Was our first time in Portland, ME between Christmas and New Years! We had a blast and did our own walking tour of lobster rolls and beer, (getting suggestions from locals, blogs, keepers, and family). We enjoyed our 2 lobster rolls, an oyster roll, and a beer each in our mighty travel squad of 3. Draft selection was okay, lobster rolls were fresh, oyster roll was tasty. I personally felt like other places were tastier but it was nice to give Eventide a try as many locals and travel blogs said that it was a MUST. The rolls themselves were pretty small and served on chalkboard planks. The service was good, very attentive staff, and the facilities were clean and trendy. The location was small-ish and busy! We waited probably 20-30 minutes, and ended up dining in a standing section (they gave us the option), which is a small open area with a tiny plank shelf as the 'table.' This wasn't too inconvenient since everything we ordered was finger food. TDLR; While it was good, flavor-wise Eventide was lower in my personal rankings flavor-wise, it was the most expensive out of all of the lobster rolls we had in the city, and I felt like the beer selection was very limited.
Lobster Roll just OK
This is a well known and popular seafood restaurant. I ordered two of their famous lobster roll in brown butter as they are small. I wasn't impressed as I had better lobster rolls in Bar Harbor.

At first, we were overwhelmed by the menu because we didn't know the entrees. Once our waitress answered our questions we ordered three plates. Our favorite was the lobster stew. Unfortunately, seating is limited and we had to endure barstools and a shelf table.
Great oysters.
Highly recommend the red onion ice cream. The clams in the clam chowder were enormous and kind of a turn off for me but everyone else at my table enjoyed !
This was my partner's fav stop during our trip in Portland.
They have a wide variety of oysters and every pc was fresh and meaty ! Love the idea of tabasco ice and other condiments in ice form. The crab claws were also very good ! Communal tables available in one side of the restaurant and dining tables on the other side. Service was great!
Those who adore oysters—this one is for you!
Since I've been in Maine for a few weeks, the lobster roll that I had was the most inventive—brown butter on a steamed roll, kind of like a Chinese bao bun. These were plenty for three meals. Fish Sammy was also alright.
One of Portland's best.
Love Portland and love this restaurant Great food. Great service. Great drinks
Love it! Best Lobster Roll in the entire world.
I had caviar for the first time as well and it was amazing!!!!!!

Their lobster roll was full of flavor, but a bit on the smaller side. A cute little coffee bar styled place. I thought it was yum.
World's smallest lobster roll.
Very good but it made a hot dog bun look like a hoagie roll

Very nice and clean location, beautiful oysters (pricey), great service and nice decor. Good wine selection as well as beer.
I have been to Eventide Oyster several times in the past.
Went for lunch this time on Tuesday. Lobster stew was bad. It didn't taste fresh and had a fishy flavor to the broth that lingered. The lobster roll also was a big disappointment. Almost no flavor though it was packed with lobster meat. You could taste a little of the brown butter on the roll. Again, we wondered if we were served yesterday's lobster and stew. Neither seemed fresh. I doubt we will ever go back. A postive was nice server.
Top spot in Portland
When I returned to Portland, I knew I needed to return to Eventide. It did not disappoint. This place is the best! The lobster rolls are delightful.
Awesome oyster bar
My wife and I stopped into Eventide oyster for a pre-dinner cocktail on a recent Friday evening. Service from the host and bar team was exceptional. The cocktails were creative, the beers were super cold, and the scallop waffle was out of this world. We gambled and took the bartenders recommendation, and definitely didn’t regret it. Check out the photo.
Bitter bite to swallow
After doing extensive research, we had to try the oysters and the brown butter lobster rolls. The oysters are the star. I wish I could have said the same about the lobster roll. It has a soft base like a bao bun which I enjoyed. The lobster meat had a definitive bitter taste and was over cooked. My fellow trip advisers save your dollars and find other places to eat.
Fantastic oyster experience
We were looking for oysters on our last night in Portland and this was the place to go. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and were patient and helpful with two people who don't know the first thing about oysters. They have a large menu offering a variety of oysters from all over, but it may as well have been in Portuguese to us, so our waitress guided us through it and we had a dozen delicious oysters. The other food we had after that was... less impressive. In fact, we didn't really care for any other food we had there, which was sides, an entree, then dessert. The atmosphere was nice, we liked the staff, but you go here for oysters.
Not worth the trouble
Cruise ship season, we left the first day when quoted an hour wait ( you can’t get reservations) but returned the next day and waited 30 minutes. Hostess very professional and courteous. Seated at uncomfortable, drafty bar stools. Counter service excellent. Oysters excellent. Lobster roll gummy, soggy bread with chewy lobster. Great wine by-the-glass. Over-hyped.
Wish I lived around the corner from this place!
We’re from the uk, and tasting the tuna crudo here has ruined my life - I need this place around the corner so I can have it every single day! Really cool place, about a 20 minute wait, really friendly nice staff, wine was gorgeous.
Would recommend eating here best oysters we ate while in Maine, maybe best we’ve ever ate other food also excellent!
Best oysters I believe I’ve ever ate!! We are from the gulf coast so I believe we have a good understanding of what oysters should be an how they should taste, they offer a large variety of excellent oysters, Lobster Roll was good an the clam bake delicious. Some of the best food we had while visiting Maine. Serves was okay but they where very busy so it was acceptable, not as friendly as some of the other places we ate at but again they where very busy.
Great seafood and dog friendly
Oysters especially Mere Point were excellent. Home made roll with with brown butter lobster roll also excellent. Sat on patio with dogs very nice experience. Prices were reasonable compared to other restaurants in area.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
