Really good ambiance here and be sure to make reservations
Really good ambiance here and be sure to make reservations in advance the food is good i really like the mezze platter the best more than the pizza the service is oblong and multiple staff come to help out and check in with you. by the time the mezze platter was finished it took awhile for the pizza to arrive and it was very cold the flavors were good but it was so cold and tasted like it was out waiting until the first appetizers were done. 7/10 good vibes and allure i like it

Perfect spot for a bachelorette dinner! The space is beautiful, festive, and HUGE (it felt like we could be in another city) and we loved the variety of cocktail and food options. It's a fun place so I would definitely recommend for any group celebration.
Be the first to Replyi'm sorry to say it but this place was a rip off.
based off of the pricing, i thought this was going to be a fine dining experience. but i am someone who is in the fine dining industry, so it felt far from that. i asked for bottled still water & it came in a bottle they just continued to refill all night? i felt super rushed by the server & the server assistants. constantly trying to pull plates we weren't finished with & rushing an order out of us. we were on our anniversary dinner, they did nothing to help us commemorate. our server didn't even wish us a happy anniversary but the hostess did. our server went missing for the last 20 minutes to the point where we just cancelled dessert & left. everything felt like a facade. food was incredible i will say & the place is definitely "instagrammable" but i will not return to Fandi Mata.
Be the first to ReplyRip off.
I was there with a large group to celebrate a special occasion. During the dinner, we asked a server if we could order 15 tequila shots. He said he would send across a waiter. Instead of the waiter coming over with a menu, they bought the round of the most expensive shots they had, along with the bill. We hadn't even selected the shots, so I don't know how they bought the shots they did. It felt very dishonest, and that they were trying to rip us off.

Fandi mata is definitely one of those trendy, instagrammable places but worth it! My drink, amor y amaro was pretty good -- and it came smoked. We started with croquetas which were so good we didn't get a pic. Our waiter also brought us tartare to try. I'm not typically a fan, but it was pretty tasty. I ordered the short rib pasta -- MAN! It was a huge helping which I was not expecting, hello leftovers. It was pretty good, obviously the short rib is the star of this dish. I saved a little space for the ube cheesecake because, of course. While it was good, I was expecting a little more ube flavor.

Ambiance was wonderful but brunch menu items were average at best. One of our orders was missing a main ingredient. Overall I would try this place again for dinner service.
Be the first to ReplyCool ambiance, friendly and attentive service.
Space is large and dimly lit, separate bar area on the mezzanine. There is also a large bar downstairs, large cocktails menu. Drinks were tasty but very light on alcohol. I had the espresso martini and the spicy Paloma. My friend had the passion fruit cocktail which was tasty if you prefer something tart. For dinner we shared the ceviche which was our favorite thing, very fresh and tasty, the roasted lamb flatbread which was just ok, very dry, and the Halloumi Fries which are pretty much just fried cheese sticks which came with a yummy curry ketchup. Overall a cute spot, perfect for date night or a light dinner. During the week they have live music.
Be the first to ReplyThe ambiance is the best part.
The food is good. Prices are decent, if you're not racking up on drinks.
Be the first to ReplyThe food was good, as was the ambiance.
One weird thing: they charged us $5 for water (not even sparkling--just normal still water). But I'd say they made up for it: after running out of the $55 bottle of wine we ordered, they recommended us a $75 bottle instead (the second-cheapest wine on the menu). We said yes. When we got the bill, we saw that they charged us for the $55 bottle. So, shoutout to Fandi Mata!
Be the first to ReplyIt was ok.
Vibes and wine were good but the food was just ok. Service was confusing because multiple people tried to service our table.
Be the first to ReplyLoved the ambiance (plant lover here) and delicious meal.
An absolute must! DJ set by XaXa was a vibe and perfect for my birthday dinner. Had me and my guests dancing at our table, so fun. The staff was very kind and brought me a birthday shot on the house!

The restaurant had a lot going for it - the decor was tasteful and inviting, and the bartenders were friendly and engaging. They made fantastic cocktails and were knowledgeable about the menu, which elevated the overall experience. However, the unpleasant demeanor of the hostess detracted from the otherwise enjoyable night. Her rude behavior and dismissive attitude created an unwelcoming atmosphere that lingered throughout the evening. It's a shame that such a small aspect of the dining experience could have such a big impact on the overall impression of the restaurant.Had the hostess been more friendly and accommodating, it would have been an incredible night out. Despite her behavior, the other staff members were attentive and provided excellent service. Overall, I would still recommend this restaurant for its ambiance and delicious drinks, but it's worth noting that the hostess could use some improvement in her customer service skills.

Let's start with good, the ambiance and decoration is amazing. The restaurant is so nicely decorated, it makes you feel like you're in a different place. The menu, which appears almost whimsical and unique adds to the cool ambiance. It's easy to get blinded by that until you get the food. The portions are pretty small, especially for the price. Fourteen dollars for a chocolate mouse is absurd and I even feel bad now for paying that. The flavors were there and the food was enjoyable but I couldn't help but think it wasn't worth it for the price. I understand some restaurants choose quality over quantity but at what cost? The service is okay, our server was nice but just took too long to get to us when the restaurant was empty and just opening for dinner time. Sadly our calls were not heard and we just felt ignored. Does help that we were seated right by the door and the cold wind kept coming in. Overall, it was fine but wouldn't make the trip there again for the price.

Returned to Fandi Mata for a recap with one of my girls! We went on a weekday and there were many reservations open. Our service was good but I was quite disappointed in the change of menus. In my last review I raved about the chicken and shrimp skewers and I was so bummed that the change of menu took any and all shrimp off the menu. Remember small plates mean small lol. We ordered the following: chicken skewer. - still tasty but they only have one skewer this time & didn't change the price. (annoying)Ribeye skewer - so tasty...but again only one skewer. HOWEVER, I have a mushroom allergy and the kitchen still sent out the skewer with mushrooms after the waiter documented the allergy so that was so disappointing. My friend spotted & tasted the mushroom. if you have an allergy or don't like mushrooms apparently this can not be taken out (says the kitchen) it would have been nice to know this upon ordering or once it came out instead of after nearly consuming it. That could have been dangerous!! Fandi mata salad. - not worth it in my opinion. Brussels - too charred but still flavorful. Branzino - for the price absolutely too small & not shareable. Tasty but not worth the price. Buffalo pizza - tasty! If you're looking for a drink the Big Japan drink is so good!! Def try it. All in all, I probably won't be back until the shrimp is back on the menu (personal preference) but if you want to try it you should, the place is beautiful, and the food is tasty although pricey.
Be the first to ReplyReserved for Valentine's day.
Arrived with my girlfriend at the location before my reservation and was told to wait, we were seated 30 minutes past my reservation time. I kept trying to grab the server's attention for water because it was never brought to the table. Ordered the burrata salad ( really delicious), pizza and the lamb burger, finished the burrata, pizza, but was told that the kitchen forgot my burger, looks like they were ready to leave so I told them to forget about it. We asked for the check and the server arrived with the cold burger. 3 stars just because the place looks amazing and they were playing great music.
Be the first to ReplyMade an 8pm reservation for 4 on Valentines day.
Arrived and the hostesses were friendly and told us we could be seated once our entire party arrived. Perfectly understandable. We waited at the bar until the rest of the party arrived and were seated at our table around 8:30pm. When you make a reservation, they notify you that parties have an hour and a half time block, which is reasonable. What was not reasonable was not having our order taken until an hour and a half after being seated. We ordered a bottle of wine that we had to remind the waitress to bring over. It was busy that night, so we remained patient, but lost patience when we noticed that couples that were seated after us had received their drinks, food, and had even paid and left. We ordered a good number of small plates between the four of us and after a long wait the food arrived and only 1 of the many dishes was luke warm. Since the food was taking so long, the waitress offered us a round of drinks which didn't arrive until after our food arrived. We ordered two entree dishes at the same time as the small dishes, one of which came out last and the other did not make it to the table until we asked the waitress about it. She said she was waiting to put it in after our pizza arrived, which did not make much sense but we let it go. After being disappointed by the wait time and the food we asked to speak to the manager. We politely stated that we were looking forward to the dinner and had high expectations due to all the reviews and atmosphere, but were sadly let down by the delivery. He apologized and said he would take care of part of the bill and send a round drinks over and said that our next visit would be on him. We waited for the round and it never came, nor did the manager return to say anything else. The waitress offered dessert, but at this point we were ready to leave and find dessert elsewhere. By the time we received the bill it was midnight. I will say that the atmosphere itself was very nice and the bartender was attentive while we waited for the rest of our party. As for the rest of our experience, it fell very very short. I would recommend this spot for drinks at the bar and probably only this. I do understand Valentines day is busy, but I don't understand why they were not adequately staffed or prepared especially being such a popular establishment. Unfortunately, my friends and I will not be returning.
Be the first to ReplyBad service, bad food, pricey for no reason.
.. drinks didn't come out for 30 mins. I'm not sure who is keeping this place in business.
Be the first to ReplyPros: The food is excellent.
The restaurant is beautiful, one of my favorites in the city. I went for the first time with my partner on our first date, and we've returned many times. I appreciate that the menu switches up fairly frequently so we get to try new foods no matter how many times we come. Plus, I love anywhere with a bangin espresso martini.Cons: The service is sub par. We've returned the last two Valentine's Days, and both times had poor service. I'll focus more on this most recent VDay, though. After sitting and waiting 20 minutes for water, we did not get to place a food order for a while, either. The waitress constantly interrupted me to tell us how it was mandatory we order everything at once. Like, I heard you and sure, but don't make this seem like an inconvenience for you. It took another 20 minutes to get our first round of drinks. Two of our dishes came a full hour and a half after we ordered them. Over 2 hours, the waitress came to our table only three times, and the third time was because I flagged her down to ask why our second round of drinks had taken still not appeared and much of our food was still missing. She blamed it on the kitchen, and said we would receive some discounts on our check. When I finally got the check, no discounts were given. That is exactly what happened the year previously too; everything took forever and we were neglected, then gaslit into thinking we'd get a free round of drinks or something, and then no discount at all. We did not have a small check either time, so it was weird we weren't treated well. It's tough to write this as I genuinely love the food and the place is so beautiful. But honestly, it's frustrating that I feel like I have to work to get anything I ordered.
Be the first to ReplyWe enjoyed the atmosphere and the dessert was tasty.
Apps were good but they did not have the seafood entrees we wanted to order but we ordered a steak and we were happy.
Be the first to ReplyHonestly places like this are the problem with Brooklyn.
They put 50 dollar menu items on and still can't have enough staff to make an enjoyable experience. I'm service worker so this is comment on the mgmt not the servers. Made a valentines reservation, again because it's 'nice' there. They reseated us multiple times, and literally no one checked in other than giving us water when we sat down. 25 minutes went by, the table next to us asked for a new waiter, and we just left because other than the bar tenders behind the bar, no one was up there, certainly no one waiting those tables. Also low key worst live cover band I've ever heard. What was up with that lmao. My date and I are both normal people and handled pivoting on Valentine's Day dinner well, but generally a bad experience because of bad management. If you're going to bring those prices to the menu and the area, then please follow with the proper elevated experience.

I haven't even heard of this place before a friend/co-worker suggested we come here for Restaurant Week. They had one of the pricier Restaurant Week menus at $60 for 3 courses, but we still decided to come. I'm glad we did. It was a very enjoyable experience, albeit, very pricey! The location is kind of in the middle of nowhere in Greenpoint. The closest subway stops are the Nassau G stop or the Lorimer L/G stop. It would be about a 10-minute walk from either stop. Parking doesn't seem to be much of an issue here. We found a spot right away. There's a very tiny outdoor space for eating, but why eat outside when you can sit in the prettiest indoor restaurant space EVER?! Had reservations for 7:30 on a Tuesday evening. We didn't even need them because there were hardly any people there. Our friend was already seated so they seat incomplete parties, which is nice. Be aware that if you cancel your reservation the day of, they'll charge you $10 per person! I kinda get it but come on now. The inside is so beautiful. Such a relaxing vibe with a huge open space and lots of greenery. Felt like I just entered a Mediterranean greenhouse. They have 2 swings when you come in. I guess for *eye roll* Instagram pictures. One is a cute basket swing. It's very different. Service was attentive and incredibly friendly. I started off with the VOYAGEUR PASSIONNÉ cocktail. A steep price of $18. It consisted of grey goose vodka, Boiron passion fruit puree, st. Germain liqueur, lemon juice, Aperol. I'm 46 years old. That was the best cocktail that I've EVER had! I want one now actually! Perfect refreshing sweetness. That passion fruit puree is heavenly. I had 2 of them. Almost $40 for 2 cocktails. Jeez. I also had a glass of Pinot. It was okay. I started off with the burrata & heirloom tomato salad. The flavor combinations at Fandi Matta are very interesting. They know what they're doing. Spiced date jam, kumato tomato, preserved lemon, mint, pistachio, pea sprouts, EVOO, and sea salt. Never thought pistachios would be good with burrata! It was a fantastic pairing. For my main, I had the broiled Branzino. Came with green olives, artichoke heart, basil, fingerling potato, zhoug, and ladolemono sauce. The fish was a great portion, perfectly flaky and the flavor explosion was incredible. Worth every last bite. For dessert, I chose the passion fruit and mango mousse cake. This thing was unlike anything I'd ever tasted. The passion fruit puree they use here is on point!!! We were there for a few hours. Their chairs aren't made for long sitting. They're uncomfortable wooden ones. My butt was numb when I got up. They have an upstairs as well. I believe a separate drink and food menu are served up there. Sounds interesting. Would like to go back and experience that. Everything was clean and orderly. Separate men's and women's bathrooms. 3 stalls in the women's one. This space is huge and they've utilized the space well. It's gorgeous with nice people and delicious food. Is the food freaking expensive? Yes, it is! I wouldn't say to not come because of that. Just bring a fat wallet. If you're like me and don't mind paying the price for great food and a wonderful experience, then you won't regret it!

It took over an hour to get our food and it was cold when it got there after we reminded them a couple of times. There wasn't really any apology and we ended up getting charged for drinks that we didn't have (though they corrected it after we said something). We asked for the manager and they refused to send them over. The reason this isn't a 1 star review is because the drinks were good and food was decent.
Be the first to ReplyThis place has a beautiful vibe and decor.
BUT it's definitely not worth the food or the price ! To begin, the restaurant was almost empty when we got there around 6 and they made us sit at the entry/by the stairs. When asked to change tables the host gave us a lecture on how the table we were currently sitting at was meant for 2 ppl and they're moving us to a larger table but they don't usually do it and blah blah blah. Please just move us, you have like 80 empty tables (literally). Second the food was overpriced and not even good. (6 pieces of the smallest shrimp for $18?!) 3 apps and 1 entree for almost $90-100 and I was still hungry. I could've went to Tao for that. Food wasn't even worth it. Nothing memorable but the vibes. It's just another IG opportunity. Not coming back here.

I love this place! Came here through a friend who made the red but I think the atmosphere and space really elevates the rating! It helps that the food is incredible too. It's in a renovated building and transports you out of Brooklyn into another country. I've heard at night it's incredible! Thanks Fandi for a great brunch with awesome vibes. I'll be back!
