I am a very keen enthusiast within the food and hospitality sector as I am a restaurant manager myself. We have a group of collective 20 restaurants and I would be disturbed and embarrassed if any of our restaurants ever made a family or individual feel so uncomfortable.
We a regular diners at Chutney Mary's, Tamarind, Bombay Brasserie and the family famous Veeraswamy. In fact the majority of the more longer standing Michelin recommended or starred establishments have never failed to disappoint once. Intact we live in Birmingham and travel to London just for a good quality Indian dining experience. Unfortunately, my views and thoughts are just as a diner and as a person who knows what is required to uphold a strong level of service and communication within the restaurant floor, amongst staff and supervisors. Infact our restaurant beaten in Birmingham has been recognised amongst high peers being a family run establishment.
Your maitre de or person at reception welcoming guests upon arrival was hesitant and almost disregarded me and my family for some reason. To which we felt very uncomfortable immidieatly to on entering. Me and my wife looked at each other and tried to ignore the being felt unwelcomed as we had a baby 1 years of age and a toddler 5 years of age. We sat at our table and as we were hungry wanted to order but due to my baby crying and the staff not approaching us, I mean not even a single member of staff came to even ask our drinks and the restaurant was just entering dinner service,
We then decided to get up and leave. I told one of the managers on the way out that I apologise for the disturbance of my baby to any other diners and maybe perhaps we should revisit another day without the children. To which the female manager wearing a black blazer at the back of the restaurant floor replied "yes it would be better, thank you...."
Now that's fine but to not even be courteous or even compelling towards the effort we made to coming to your restaurant leaves us disgusted and I am not spending my hard earn money with you on that basis, I do not feel the service or staff have the right approach and in fact need training heavily as they almost think the MICHILEN BADGE IS UN-TAKABLE. To which my review has been forwarded to.
I look forward to your reply. PS its such a shame we couldn't try the food as we have heard good things on the presentation of your dishes.
Kind Regard
