Hands down my favorite restaurant.
Always perfect service; delicious and interesting food; great cocktails, wine, and amaros. Wonderful brunch. But the best thing is the warm, cozy ambiance--inside in the winter and outside in the lovely garden in the summer.

Great location, the outdoor patio is very nice. We had a brunch reservation for four, plus a baby and stroller. Greeter looked very unhappy to see us, not a warm greeting in the slightest. Then he wanted to put us at a table with two benches in a nook by the window. It would have been uncomfortable and tight without a baby, looked miserably uncomfortable. The back of the restaurant had several four tops sitting empty. We requested one. Lots of muttering, conferring and then we were led very grudgingly to a better table. Huge turnoff. Now- the food. Soft scrambled eggs were tasteless and the portion tiny, some tiny mushy tasteless potatoes were hidden underneath. Garnishes were lots of cilantro and crushed potato chip flakes. A huge piece of beautiful brioche accompanied the dish. 1 out of 5 for the eggs, 5 out of 5 for the bread, I don't eat bread so I left very hungry but my dining companions said it was buttery and good. Eggs with sausage were better looking and tasting and at least were a full meal. Same for the smoked salmon. I probably won't return mostly because of the attitude. Not sure why some people in service professions seem to hate the people that they are in business for.

First of all, if you are coming here for big portions you are in the wrong establishment, you pay for the quality of the food here not the quantity. It shows that the chef has put his heart in every dish. I had the 3 course meal which is a great deal, yeah the plates are small but you get 3 different meals and they are all well made. I had the hamachi crudo it was a 10/10, I followed that with the leek tortellini they were incredible the best bite I have had in a long time 10/10, then I had the duck which has a great sauce but was a little undercooked for my taste. I just prefer my duck to be fully cooked. The service was phenomenal, the ambiance was charming and cozy.

I know many folks that love Faun, and my dining companion referred to Faun as an old standby...unfortunately, we were both a bit disappointed overall. The Good: I love the room. It's cozy, and well-appointed. The light is beautiful, and the entire staff is excellent. Seriously lovely people. My cocktails were stellar, and my friend was happy with the wine. The Bad: We ordered the cacio e pepe mafaldini for $24. This is (supposed to be) a simple but supremely flavorful pasta. It's one of my favorites, usually, but there was not nearly enough cacio, and not nearly enough pepe. It was sadly bland, and tasted more of cream, oddly, than anything else. Worst of all, it was laughably small. Like, two or three bites small. I have come to terms with being charged $24 for such a simple dish with very affordable ingredients in this part of Brooklyn, but I can't abide it (1) being so very, very tiny AND (2) not tasting good. The Fine: Our Caesar salad was quite pretty with the addition of radicchio to brighten up the color, but just fine. It lacked...Caesar. I rolled with the pork collar as a main, for $38. It was gorgeous and well-cooked, but fairly small, and unfortunately underseasoned. The sauce was underseasoned as well. The carrots on the plate were phenomenal, however. That sort of genius makes me think we came in on an off night, and I hope to come back for the sort of meal that has made this such a popular spot with many people whose palates I trust. The Ugly: I am fortunate enough that I can drop $250 on dinner for two on occasion. I realize that is a luxury. However, I don't love walking out underwhelmed, and also a bit hungry.

We took a leap and chose Faun for my brother in-law's birthday. It was a risk that paid off. I have a new favorite spot. The staff is incredibly nice and organized. Everything felt smoothly running from the moment we walked in. The place itself is cozy, with plenty of room for our party of five. Every table had good placement somehow. Lighting and mood was awesome. And the best part: the food. We ordered a number of appetizers and every one was amazing. I had the wagyu and it practically melted in my mouth. I can't wait to go back.
Be the first to Replygreat ambiance but food choices very limited and pricey.
This was my second visit and will not go back.

We walked in on a Thursday night with no reservation and were seated on their outside patio (don't worry, the heaters are good enough that you are comfortable in December). The restaurant was really busy so we were hopeful for the evening. We looked at the menus and nothing really grabbed us but we were thinking that maybe the menu was giving a basic description and we would be impressed when the food arrived. The appetizers arrived (croquettes and tuna sashimi) and they were decidedly average. They lacked any real flavour, the croquettes were lumpy and everything needed a heap more seasoning. We were disappointed but still holding out for the mains, after all this place was pretty much full. The mains arrived and again there was a complete lack of seasoning. I had the beef check ragu and it was so close to being great but it lacked salt and pepper. My partner had the monkfish and he did say this was tasty. We had dessert, chocolate olive oil cake and cheese and these were just alright. The wine list here is very good though and we enjoyed 2 bottles of nice red wine. Our total bill came to $300 (although $100 of that was wine) and we think for this price point the food is lacking. The service was great and the staff were lovely. However the chef just needs to be less afraid of seasoning. For us we won't be back again and think there are better value/quality places in the city.
Be the first to ReplyFood is consistently great and the service is good.
Would definitely recommend this place.
Be the first to ReplyPretty good food and drinks at Faun! It was a nice meal
Pretty good food and drinks at Faun! It was a nice meal overall, and a good deal for a slightly elevated dining experience. We started with the crudo, and it was okay. The yellowtail itself tasted fresh, but the flavors from the rest of the dish didn't stand out too much. The mains were solid - the maniche was delicious, with great pasta and melt-in-your-mouth beef cheek in every bite. The mushroom dish was also surprisingly good, very savory and balanced with the sunchokes. The dessert was a letdown, unfortunately. The cake was a little dry, and tasted very ordinary. Drinks were excellent, the cocktails were unique and well made. Overall, a nice experience, and elevated dining without too crazy of a price tag. Worth checking out!
Be the first to ReplyI had a reservation at Faun at 530PM on a Saturday night.
My brother and I were running late and I appreciated the fact that I could send a text informing them of that. They were very accommodating and understanding. It was pretty cold but they had three tables seated outside and all seemed comfortable under the heaters! Several couples that had young children also came by and it was nice to see a more upscale NY restaurant be a place were families can enjoy a meal as well. The food was delicious! We shared everything; Focaccia with Whipped Ricotta was divine! I want to try the olive tapenade next time! Butter Lettuce Salad was also delicious, I'm not even sure what was on it but we were dipping our leftover focaccia in that too. We both said we wished they had whatever that was as a dip instead of the ricotta! Chicken Breast & Stew was superb! I loved the kale and the chicken was juicy, not fatty, and cut beautifully. Last but not least we split the cavatelli pasta - this was by far our favorite dish of the evening. After we got the check the pen exploded all over my hands! There was a line for the bathroom so I told the host and other employees rushed to get me a wet napkin so I could clean off my hands. The urgency with which they helped and cared was evidence of how truly wonderful this place is! The lost star is because our waitress was very short with us. There was hardly a smile and it felt almost robotic. I get that some days we're not in the mood to be overly friendly, especially as a waitress when you're speaking with so many people, but a smile and a liiiiittttttle bit of personality goes a long way. I will 100% be back! And maybe will come by solo to sit at the bar as the atmosphere was stunning!
Be the first to ReplyExcellent experience! We sat at the bar, only complaint
Excellent experience! We sat at the bar, only complaint being it was frigid outside so the door opening gave me a blast of cold air- but this is no fault of the restaurant. The bartender was both an excellent server and cocktail maker. All of the food was great. Standouts: burratta, scallops, butternut squash ravioli (it's not called ravioli but it's ravioli).

The food was missing items from what was on the menu, and it was generally under seasoned. The fish was mediocre. The place had great drinks and the panzotti was good. But overall I would not go back.
Be the first to ReplyFabulous brunch.
The new egg sandwich with merguez sausage was wonderful. The sausage was beautifully spiced and rich, without overwhelming the sandwich. My wife had a past with broccoli rabe and sausage, also delicious. Highly recommend.
Be the first to ReplyWe came here with a party of 8 to celebrate a birthday.
We made a reservation and picked out a fixed family style. We had 3 appetizers, 3 second entrees (mainly pasta) and 3 third entrees (mainly protein) for $75 per person. Dinner was nicely organized. We fit nicely in the back. Ambiance is cozy and casual. Service was great. They were always around. Food was a tad salty for a couple of dishes such as their scallops. Their little gem Caesar, pappardelle and hanger steak were my favorite. Overall I recommend this place and would definitely come back.

Cute little brunch spot! I highly recommend asking to sit in the back patio - very cute! The food was AMAZING and the cocktails were good too! I got the eggs florentine and asked for it to be scrambled which they did and I inhaled it. Decently priced for a pretty fancy brunch! Highly recommend!

Cannot give Faun enough stars!! My husband and I had our wedding and reception here in September and it was perfect. The food was incredible -- multiple guests said it was the best food they'd ever eaten at a wedding and one even said it was the best meal they have had! The staff were incredibly attentive, accommodating, flexible and friendly. When a guest unexpectedly needed a dietary accommodation, the staff seamlessly made sure she had a special dish made. The backyard was absolutely stunning and the staff moved furniture multiple times to make the ceremony, dinner and dancing all happen without incident. I cannot recommend Faun enough -- whether for a once in a lifetime event or just a weeknight dinner.
Be the first to ReplyWe met up with friends at Faun for a truly lovely dinner.
This small restaurant opens up to a surprisingly quaint and atmospheric outdoor patio in the back. It was such a great place to gather with friends and enjoy a great meal. While the menu is a bit scarce, you can tell that the options are high-quality and seasonal.I'd highly recommend starting with focaccia!

We had an excellent celebratory dinner at Faun, where every dish was more delicious than the last. Excellent pastas, tasty proteins, and even fantastic desserts (I have been finding that places with great meals tend to forget about dessert - not the case here!). Highly recommend for a special occasion.

Be the first to ReplyWent to Faun with some ladies for a special birthday dinner.
Service was great, garden was lovely, food spectacular albeit pricey, drinks came quickly... but when we got the bill we got a $15 cake cutting charge, which I've never heard of before. When I arrived earlier with the cake I asked the hostess if its ok to bring one in, she said no problem and she'd find a place in the fridge for it. At the end of dinner I asked the waiter if he can bring the cake out and he said sure, would you like singing and candles? No thank you, I have plates and a cutter. He unboxed it, but brought out house plates and forks for it anyway. How nice! So nice I told the waitress I'd leave her some cake leftovers too. Then we received the bill and got charged a surprise cutting fee and not one of those 3 people informed us throughout the night about the impending charge...WTF? $5 per person after we spent over $230? Ridiculous and unacceptable, they should at least refund it, otherwise I won't go back or recommend it.
Be the first to ReplySuper nice ambience with a really sweet backyard garden
Super nice ambience with a really sweet backyard garden area. Service is top-notch and professional but friendly too. To start, we had the focaccia and ricotta, which was whipped to a creamy silken smoothness. So tasty. We also enjoyed the braised artichoke with beans. We scooped up every last bite with the fresh focaccia. Perfect! For my entree I thoroughly enjoyed the squid ink spaghetti with crab. The pasta I believe is homemade and cooked to al denté perfection. I have to say our meal was some of the best food I've had in awhile. Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned and delicious.

Service was great, our server was so nice! Food was okay, sounded better in the descriptions than it tasted. Also there were rats running around in the garden area by the outdoor seating area, which was very unappetizing.

I had a dinner in the backyard with my husband and we really enjoyed the food & atmosphere. The setting was really cute and the service & attentiveness of wait staffs were great. We enjoyed the most of the food we tried but did not like chicken liver mouse as texture was but watery. Overall we had a great date night and will be back to try more food for sure!
