I always like this place.
It is a safe place to eat muscles. They have many variety of sauces. My favorite part is their donuts . The reason I did not give five stars is a lot of variety of other foods in case you wanna eat something different than muscles
Be the first to ReplyWe opened the door to this busy restaurant on a Saturday
We opened the door to this busy restaurant on a Saturday evening and were hit by a wall of sound like an airport runway during a jet takeoff. It was so loud that we were put off. We tried to find a nearby restaurant that could accommodate our party, but had no luck. We stayed, but the noise had a major negative effect on our meal. The space is incredibly echoic and the tables are packed tightly together. Despite sitting at a small table for four, we had to lean in and shout at each other in order to make conversation. The waiter struggled to communicate. The service was well meaning, but not quite dialed in. Cocktails were good. The food was very good. My buddy and I shared the burnt fingers and crab guacamole. Both were very good. The mussels fra diavolo were very good too. It's the first time that I have had mussels as an entree instead of an appetizer. Despite splitting an order of french fries (which were a la carte instead of the typical dinner entree of moules frites), we needed dessert in order to feel satiated. We ordered the doughnuts, which presented well but were ultimately a bit disappointing. I enjoyed the old school root beer float. Overall, 2 stars for the ambience and service, 4 stars for the food. The noise is a deal breaker for me- I wouldn't go back.
Be the first to ReplyWent here recently with family for a mini celebration.
Fresh oysters, mussels and prompt service. However, while making reservation I had requested a high chair, and was told no problem. Upon arrival I was informed none were available. They did apologize and within 10 minutes it was provided. Wait staff are very courteous and knowledgeable of food choices and recommendations.

My Aunt and I both had the eggs benedict on the potato cake which was delicious. My hubby had the mussels with the Thai sauce. The sauce was so good. I ordered a separate piece of bread to sop it up. Good service and good food. I will be back.

It's raining and cold out in NYC today...what a perfect day for hot steamy mussels from @flexmussels! The Prince Edward Island mussels are super fresh and all of the broths are insanely delicious. I recommend to try all of their classic & unique mussel flavors and always end with their famous donuts. The service is always amazing! Had a fantastic & delicious dinner! Their signature mussels did not disappoint. The "Flex O' Flex" is exactly what you think it is--an elevated Filet O' Fish. So delicious! If you get this, choose the truffle fries over regular fries. You can thank me later. Service was friendly & attentive. Reservations are a must since it looks like a popular neighborhood spot. Would absolutely return!

It was packed so definitely make a reservation early! The service was great. Food was excellent and ambiance was busy and loud. I recommend getting the Parma mussels! Thai mussels also my second favorite. The shrimp scampi was very mild to me. I love that you get a whole pot of mussels and bread to dip in the sauce.

The ambiance and the food was amazing! We had 2 of each kind of oysters. The west coast ones were my fave. We also had the deviled eggs, the Flex fish sandwich and mussels. Everything was perfectly prepared and seasoned. I had a French 75 and a lemon drop. The French 75 was lackluster but the Lemon Drop was perfect. Ok on to the bad: - Long wait time in between trying to place an order and on the receiving end as well - The deviled eggs are amazing but they were a tad bit salty.
Be the first to ReplyVery disappointing.
Inattentive service, actually lousy mussels (small and many unopened) and tiny, expensive lobster roll.

I've now been here twice and will not be giving it a third chance. The overall review is - the food is incredibly salty and very overpriced. We had the spinach and artichoke dip which was...watery. Basically just sauteed spinach with tortilla chips. We also had 2 different orders of mussels. And I understand that there aren't many places in the city that have a menu of mussels like this, so I guess they don't have to be phenomenal since there's basically no competition. But they're just not good. They were both INCREDIBLY salty. The bread helped at least, but it wasn't served to us right away. The french fries are good - but they're french fries. And still, all of these things were salty. The donuts were also good but not good enough to excuse the meal. The servers, while friendly, made an interesting impression. Namely, we had...many servers. Every 5 or so minutes there was someone we didn't recognize coming to check on us. I think by the time our meal had ended we had seen 4-5 different servers. The meal was approximately $120 a head. A typical night out for me in NYC, even seafood, is about $70 a head, for this amount of food and drinks.
Be the first to ReplyI recently visited Flex and unfortunately, my experience
I recently visited Flex and unfortunately, my experience was not great. The waitress who served us, Jessica P, was very rude and made the whole meal very unpleasant. From the moment we sat down, it was clear that she didn't want to be there and didn't want to serve us. She barely spoke to us and when she did, there was a certain tone that did not sit well with any of my guests. When we asked for a quick switch or asked for additional items, she rolled her eyes and seemed annoyed with us. It was very clear that she wasn't interested in helping us or making our experience memorable. Her lack of professionalism and kindness really ruined our entire experience. Aside from the poor service, the food was great. Mussels are always fantastic. Just hard to enjoy it when we were being treated so poorly. I was really disappointed with my experience at Flex. A good meal isn't just about the food, it's also about the service and the overall experience, and unfortunately, this was lacking.
Be the first to ReplyI'm not sure what the hype is about but it's not worth it.
Pretty bland tbh but I was full. So not get the lobster oyster dish. You will legit get two pieces.

Im going to start with the things I liked, the food was delicious specially the mussels, their specialty. We ordered the Parma and were flavorful and a generous size, they came with bread and the bread was also very good. Our server was friendly and attentive but not pushy. Ambience was nice, their decor beautiful and the chairs and tables comfortable. We had a bottle of Prosecco, the Parma mussels, every oyster from their menu, the bouillabaisse, the filled donuts for dessert and the prune tea (delicious tea) Everything was great, except for the bouillabaisse which I found lacking flavor and texture, no sides came with it, and it arrived extremely cold. Soups should be served hot or warm at least. The main ingredient was the fish. It's supposed to be a seafood soup, but to me was more like a grilled fish with broth. As you san see in the picture there were mostly tomatoes and bread in the broth and not much seafood. Now the logistics and reason why I'm giving 4 starts. I made a reservation for a birthday a week in advance for only two people and specify in the reservation (as the option is given) that I wanted a table inside, their outdoor tent extension is ok for last minute dinner but not comparable to the actual restaurant. The table wasn't ready when we arrived, the restaurant was extremely packed, the hostess told us to please wait at the bar and that we will be called when the table was ready, we waited standing around the bar because there was not really a waiting area or availability at the bar to seat either. After around 20 minutes we are told that our table was not going to be ready soon and are offered a table outside. I told them no, I want the reservation I made honored, since it is a birthday, I specify a table inside and I made it a week in advance. Immediately after they came with 2 glasses of Prosecco, which we thank, but because it took me to be upset for them to offer, it doesn't count as a genuine gesture from the restaurant to compensate for their lack of planning. We waited about 10 more minutes and were finally seated, after that the entire experience was good.I would recommend for the food, because it is great, but I wouldn't recommend for special occasions because reservations are not reliable. However we will come again probably on days when we have a lot of time to enjoy their mussels because they were spectacular.
Be the first to ReplySeafood fresh , delicious and service delightful.
Will continue to return for more and more and more!
Be the first to ReplySo the new UES location is as good as WV.
Great menu, regardless as to whether you order mussels or any other fish or crustacean, it's all fresh and flavorful. Really exceptional FLAVOR. Service is the best; bartenders know the right formulas; and the inside & outside dining is warm and spirited. GO

Food is amazing!!! The ambiance was nice and service was very attentive. Overall a great experience!
Be the first to ReplyFriendly, prompt service, good lobster roll, terrific fries.
A bit stingy on the Chardonnay pour, but otherwise a perfect Sunday lunch.
Be the first to ReplyWow totally disappointed!! was excited to go here again
Wow totally disappointed!! was excited to go here again with my bf. we got there around 5pm and place was pretty empty. the Hostess asked if we had a reservation and i said no and she said you can wait by the bar - so i assumed we were going to get a table. she sat us by the end of the bar by the wait station. the bartender after awhile asked if we are dining at the bar. we said i don't think so the hostess said to wait by the bar, she comes to us and i told her we are waiting to be seated and i informed her i don't want to be seated by the wait station and she just told me move over and sit further down the bar. For 30$ mussels i told her i'm taking my money elsewhere! I hope your management knows your hostess is literally pushing people out the door. This used to be a really popular local spot for decent and well priced food but now it's over priced, bougie and definitely not worth a revisit. and mussels are the "poor man's clams" 30$ is a total ripoff
Be the first to ReplyThese mussels were absolutely decadent.
I got the Thai mussels, which were extremely flavorful. They were perfectly cooked and it is obvious that they get high quality mussels. The size of them alone made them spectacular but paired with the sauce. Perfection. I ordered French fries to go along with it and it was a perfect pairing. They have so many different kinds of mussels. What impressed me what the attention to service that the servers provided. I felt like I was having a whole experience. Bread was excellent too and they brought more without me even needing to ask. I had about 3 cases cosmopolitans, which I have to say were probably some of the best ones I've had on the upper east side in a long time. I like the ambiance of the new place, although it can feel a little crowded.

Flex is now serving brunch and you don't want to miss it! We ordered the Bloody Mary with an oyster and the Flex Platter. The Bloody Mary is amazing and comes with a pickle, olive, celery, and lemon. You can add an oyster for an additional charge, but it's worth it. The Flex Platter is absolutely delicious; two eggs over easy with smoked salmon, lobster, bacon, and truffled honey toast! Service was fantastic. What more can one ask for! This restaurant is really flexing its brunch mussels! Highly recommend checking out Flex for brunch and dinner!

Really enjoyed our time at Flex Mussels! They have such a wide selection of mussels. We got the ricotta for app (blew me AWAY) and the parm mussels. The parm mussels was perfectly creamy though a bit heavier for my taste, but my friend loved it! Service was great though it does get loud, and the fact that the indoors immediately leads outdoors does mean there's a draft throughout the restaurant, making it rather chilly. Still loved our experience.

The mussels are absolutely delicious! There are so many different flavors that you can ever desire! The reason for a star deduction is because of the horrible planning from the restaurant. We had 6 persons with a reservation on a Sunday night, however the restaurant decided to seat us in a table meant for 4 persons! Our table was SO cramped that I had to hold the plates and my dish was half way off the table! And don't even mention the sides, we ordered several sides that could not even be placed on the table! I had to hold them! Thankfully the dishes were delicious and the side dishes were eaten quickly. Overall, delicious food, plan better for the size of the table.
Be the first to ReplyIncredible food and service, this is a great date night
Incredible food and service, this is a great date night spot or a place to catch up with an old friend. Very shareable course's. Best seafood so far in Manhattan! (I'm from Cape Cod, so my expectations are high). Enjoy!
Be the first to ReplyA great place to enjoy after work with friends.
ย The decor is chic and service is friendly. ย The food is tasty and light. ย Their bread with the ricotta cheese is a perfect appetizer while you catch up with friends. ย Mussels are okay but I enjoyed dipping bread with their sauce more than wasting the mussels. ย Overall delish!

This spot was not only enchanting with its decor, it reminded me of a European restaurant filled with the aroma of delicious food filling the air, I was blown away I rate this restaurant as probably one of the best places I've ever eaten in my life.
