Rooms for Improvement, in terms of menu and services. Great view though.
Visited the restaurant sometime in February with my partner. We ordered a 7 course degustation menu, along with a cocktail.
Firstly, on the service. We arrived on time, and when we reached the entrance, there was no one there, and there was nothing that we can do to inform the service personnel of our presence. Hence, we waited...not long, a few minutes, until the host arrived, and politely showed us to our seats. As our reservation was for dining, hence, we were seated at the dining section, but just right beside the section for casual drinking. Unfortunately, that day, there was a large group of ladies having their gathering, and, I do not blame them for their loud and rowdy manner, but probably, some form of interior design could have been done to reduce noises. Probably, if I do visit next time, I will request for seating further away from the casual drinking section.
Staff attentiveness was mediocre, nothing to shout out. We needed to wait and wave quite few times, in order to get the waiter/waitress attention to pick the tabs and for extra butter. Not that they are busy with other diners, but they were actualy chatting at another corner with other colleagues.
Next, the FOOD. First was the canapes, which were fish roes in charcoal cookie cone, and caviar on parfait. Bread basket was sourdough with in-house butter. Bread was pretty decent, and the sea urchin lemony butter was creamy and flavourful.
First course was chilled raw cubes of wild caught langoustins on a pud of tomato jelly and drizzled in tomato vinagrette. The shellfish was fresh, but no 'wow' factor.
Second course was crab in shellfish consomme. While the consomme smells good, but it tasted pretty bland.
Course #3 was foie gras done 2 ways. Forgettable. I cant taste of any foie grae.
Course #4 was tortellini wrapping Tanggia style lamb shoulder with saffron and goat cottage cheese. Those who loves lamb will appreciate this. I ain't. Hence, I shall not comment further.
Course #5, was seared Hokkaido scallops in mash potatoes. By right, we should be having lobsters, however, because of availability of the ingredients, we had scallops instead. Now, for this dish, let me clarify, both my partner and myself are not allergic to seafood, however, the gravy gave both of us a tingling throat after eating it. Very uncomfortable to the throat.
Course #6 was Australian grain-fed grade 8 Waygu beef tenderloin, in Bordeaux wine sauce. The beef was tender and flavourful. It was moist with rich beefy taste, which I would not usually expect from grain-fed beef.
Course #7, dessert was an impressive caraibe 66% dark chocolate cremeux that was made with Glenfiddich 15yo whisky with salted caramel ice-cream. Beside the beef, I think this is the next course I have enjoyed most. In fact, I would consider this the highlight of the evening. Delicious.
Finally, petit four was earl grey tea sorbet. Both my partner & myself wondered, was it mere lime sorbet? No trace of earl grey. We ended the dinner with some chocolate wafer snack.
So, would I visit again? I would say UNLIKELY, or maybe, just for the dessert.
7 courses was too much, too filling. For the price, I would choose to dine in a one-star Michelin restaurant, with finer 5-course menu. I think, it would be more satisfying.
Exceptional Mediterranean Food & Stunning View
Great location for celebrations and special events. Excellent French-Italian Mediterranean cuisines like cold langoustine starter, porcini mushroom soup, truffle risotto, lobster bouillabaisse and dark chocolate crémeux. Wonderful service too!

Riviera was our choice to our treat yourselves day!
Upon arrival the 1st lady(fair skin-tone) was busy with guests ahead of me and she politely ask me to wait with a smile while she seats them. Another host came(petite, long dark-haired) no smile, not even knowing anything decided to check temperature of the lady who came after me. I had to say I was there 1st in line. Still maintained her no-smile look.
In the restaurant, apart from the view is awesome...here goes the experience...We ordered from Ala Carte instead as the lunch set was not appealing enough for our tastebuds.
Service-not proactive, our water glasses were not filled we did on our own..our wine glasses constantly almost empty...took awhile for our dishes to arrive.(3 courses Ala-carte)
The cutleries need to be wiped down properly after they come out of the dishwasher!
Food- starter the blue crab was ok nothing special about the dish
sea bream with quinoa, the fish was fresh to be fair but the quinoa had an overwhelming taste of red onions/shallots! Like really overwhelming!
The lamb tortellini was good but nothing wow about it.
The lamb for mains had too much unsaturated fats that I barely taste any meat! The sauce was nice but the lamb doneness & fats still have room for improvements!
The only saving grace was our wine!
Honestly $200/pax for lunch
(wine was $168)was not worth our gastro experience here!
Team Riviera you still have room for improvements in every area!
Too expensive for what you get, nice view but service and food to be improved
Amazing view, nice decoration, staff is kind but...
It's too expensive for what you get: the food is coming not even warm, the recipes could be more advanced with more fine taste, and the quantity is very little. They want to play the gastro type but the cooking is not at this level yet
(130++ per person without wine for an very average 3-course meal that I would have paid 60++)
The service is also to be improved: they brought all together the amuse-bouche and starters, we had to ask each time for more water more bread and more wine, the music was too loud at the start and we had to ask to lower down.
Anniversary dinner
Ambience was okay. Expensive $$$$ meal with Food portion being really small. But I guess that’s the fine dining trend.

Great service and view overlooking Esplanade and MBS waterfront area. Food overall very good, although the lamb was slightly too "medium" cooked for my liking. Chef comes over to your table and explains about the cooking style and items in front of your table. Excellent wine selection and good for a romantic meal or to impress your significant other.

Nice ambience- it greets you as soon as you enter the long walkway leading up to main dining area.
The view while you dine is breathtaking.
Food was delicious and chef was kind to provide a few complimentary sides and desserts! ❤️
Superb Salt Baked Fish
The culinary experience throughout our dinner was indeed memorable and service was great. The salt baked fish was truly tasty and the langoustine was such a treat. Desserts were such a pleasant way to end the meal on a high .
Be the first to ReplyGreat work Raymond and Elia!!
Honestly, I was pissed off before going to lunch at the restaurant as I had received a very rude call from their office (an admin lady) who called to say I need to leave by 230pm when my reservation was 130pm. I remember her tone and voice from a previous bad experience with her when I organized an event there before. I nearly cancelled my lunch because of her inflexible attitude and her "rules". Thank God.... I still went ahead to the restaurant as I was delightfully surprised by their new manager, Raymond and Elia (maitresse de Maison). They were both pleasant and kind and made up for the horrible experience from their office coordinator. Forlino is always beautiful which is why I return but I really think they need to replace the bad attitude from their office coordinator.

They can only open the resto at 630pm. We wanted a cocktail prior to it but they said they'll open at 620pm for us. So we went to Monti to have a cocktail before coming over. Glad we did as after spending half hour at Monti, Forlino is 1 level up. You immediately know the difference in customer service and food quality.
Wine selection by the glass unfortunately is not great. We tried all 3 white. Chardonnay is ok. SGD 23 for a glass not cheap but at least they didn't pour exactly 100ml. We had starter Blue Crab and Scallops both are delicious and presentation were very nice. Main course Sea Bream is also very delicious. Partner's Lamb is also good. We had 1 dessert Fruit & Berries presented nicely but the crunchy Meringue are so small my partner can't see it and have to ask the waiter where were they. :)
Overall, very nice experience and all the staff are well-trained. View is lovely. We'll be back!
