Great modern take on the french cuisine
Our visit proved to be a delightful exploration of French cuisine. Venturing to try the Escargot, prepared with almond butter, pickled onion, and croutons, was a rewarding choice, offering a unique and enjoyable taste experience. The dry-aged duck, another highlight, was excellently prepared and rich in flavor, demonstrating the kitchen's capability to deliver well-crafted dishes. Accompanied by a well-curated selection of French wines, our meal was both sophisticated and satisfying. The restaurant's meticulous attention to detail was evident in every aspect of our dining experience, from the presentation of the dishes to the ambiance of the setting. This commitment to quality ensures that the food stands out, making it a commendable choice for those seeking an exceptional meal. We recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in experiencing refined French cuisine. It promises an impressive dining experience with its thoughtful preparation and presentation of dishes :)

Had not bern back to Forsythia since pre Covid and really missed it. We went for the special pre fixe duck menu Buche de Noel (see photo of menu) that was offered and it wowed us. We got to share four"elevated" small plates including oysters w caviar, Wagyu beef tartare, more! Each one as beautiful as it was delicious. Regular menu was also available. The duck entree was superb. Staff is great taking great care of us. There is a wonderful bar with a great daily happy hour turning out wonderful cocktails. This is a comfortable cozy and beautiful restaurant. Across from Natl Museum American History. The

Excellent food in a friendly environment. I had an oven roasted dorade served with a perfect combination of spinach&mushrooms on a champagne veloutรฉ. The delicious blend of flavors and tastes of the tarte au caramel is memorable. A special mention is for Bennett who served and entertained with his gorgeous smile and kindness.
Be the first to ReplyGreat ambiance, okay food
I had dinner here as a solo customer. The service was good. Nice waiters and very attentive. The restaurant ambiance is cosy. I had the deviled eggs. The look was nice, the taste a bit too salty The wagyu tartare was okay. Kinda sour. Both dishes came in a bowl which made it quite difficult to eat . A plate would have been easier. All in all the dinner was good. Nothing really stood out. Maybe i had the wrong dishes. The nice and attentive servers do make up for the food.
Be the first to ReplyBest food and service weโve had anywhere
Two couples who met on a cruise in Antarctica gathered together to share dinner in Philadelphia. Little did we know all four of us would say this is the best meal and best restaurant weโve ever been to. Sharing plates of delicious corn beignets, truffled devilled eggs, perfectly seared tuna, tri-tip steak like youโve never had beforeโฆ.one delectable flavor after another. A stunning surprise, with vegetables so fresh and delivered so deliciously. Perfect flavors using the best ingredients and combinations presented so beautifully, tasting sooooo good. Thank you Chef Kearse for sharing your talents with us. Itโs our pleasure. We will return.

Delicious dinner on a crowded Saturday night. My husband and I shared the Mussels, skate and the lentil side plus dessert
Loved that we could share everything. The mussels were outstanding. The plumpest that I have every seen in a outstanding cream sauce. The skate was perfectly cooked with delicious sauces. Our waiting was friendly and very helpful
We had the special dessert with orange sherbet that was so refreshingly after a big meal
The best restaurant in Philly
Wow. Absolutely stunning. Where do I even begin?
Forsythia is a treasure in Old Town. A gorgeous, bigger, more sophisticated, yet friendlier version of Chef Kearse's last restaurant (which was fabulous), Will BYOB.
We had so much food. The rigatoni was homemade and wonderful. The mussels were divine. The bread and butter were absolutely phenomenal! The scallops were the perfect entree and the thick-cut (I mean like french toast), yet soft and delicious french fries with blue cheese emulsion were to DIE for.
Just go there. Order apps. Order entrees. Order drinks. Everything is perfect.
Still Way Above Average
With the Covid numbers going in the wrong direction again, Philly restaurants have been pretty much shut down except for Outdoor dining and Take Away. We went for the latter and thoroughly enjoyed our choices. From the Mushroom Tartine to the Short Ribs with Parsnip purรฉe and the Seared Scallops with Pearl
Pasta, everything was delicious.
Although there's nothing like actually being there, this is a great way to still be able to enjoy their cuisine.
Dinner in Philly
Perfect location and very chic decor. The staff from the hostess, server, bartender were amazing and top notch. I liked the menu, but honestly I have to say the dinners were good...but can't say great. It was just good...and pricey. So for the value of the food itself, I probably wouldn't go back for dinner but because it's such a great location and staff I would go back for lunch or a drink.
Be the first to ReplyOutstanding takeout tonight
Outstanding takeout tonight from master chef Chris Kearse. We enjoyed a very special dinner that makes these hard times so much better and was so enjoyable. We live close enough to have home delivery. Everything came right on time and was so beautifully presented and ready to eat. We started with the mushroom tartine and I had the pumpkin ravioli with short rib ragout on top that was absolutely to die for. I could have that every night of the week. My entrรฉe was the yummy Bronzino and my DH had the duck. we both LOVED our dinners and are so pleased. Kudos and thanks to Chef Kearse. We hope to see you many more times when this is all over and be able to dine inside your beautiful restaurant, but in the meantime we are delighted to support you and thank you for the service you are providing to us and to your staff.
Be the first to ReplyWonderful takeout from one of Philadelphiaโs gems
At least twice a week we are trying to patronize some of the restaurants in Philadelphia who are offering takeout and delivery while table service is shut down. Forsythia is doing a wonderful job with the limited menus it has selected and the smart way it has worked the pickup times to expedite the process for everyone. We enjoyed very much the rigatoni with duck ragu and the duck breast with endive and sides of roast cauliflower and mushrooms. The olive oil cake too was first rate. Prices are very reasonable for the value.

I dig the vibe. I went with two of my girl friends, but you could dine solo, with your significant other, or in a small group. The space was bright and simply decorated, so that your focus was on the food and company. Solid and creativemenu, and I also enjoyed that they had non-alcohol beverages and cocktails to cater those that do not want to imbibe. As for the menu, it changes with the season. We ordered the crab and leek beignets, Spanish octopus, potato and leek soup, caramelized endives, uni carbonara, and the whole roasted chicken.
Our starters were much more memorable than our entrees. The potato and leek soup was AMAZING with the puffed rice. And that octopus? It's what dreams are made of. It did not taste like rubber, and it was meaty and delish! While the chicken was juicy, tender, and flavorful, it wasn't my favorite of the dishes. The bone marrow had more salt than I would have liked.
Overall, a restaurant that I would highly recommend to others. Making a reservation was a breeze through Resy! Great value for what we all ordered.
Kudos to the chef and staff for the attentive service and incredible food!
Warm vibes entering the restaurant!
My husband and I are not adventurous eaters so I was surprised he chose this restaurant...we opted for the crab and leek beignets, pumpkin soup and halibut. Wow!! Delicious! Desserts....again...the best...we had the napolean. Highly recommend. Love the friendly atmosphere.
Be the first to ReplyGo NOW!
Go NOW before it gets rated nationally and you can't get in! The menu selection is varied, there's something for the exotic foodie and for the adventurous but more mainstream. The sauces accompany and support the overall taste of the complete food package without overwhelming it. You'll want to try several small plates: octopus, surf and turf tartare, fish plate, pasta, each its own prize. Double up on dessert because you should not deprive yourself! They are worth the calories! The wine list is French, the bar is well stocked. Go NOW!
Be the first to ReplyA rebirth, a unique moment
All the skill and talent that we experienced at Will BYOB have reappeared at Forsythia. Forsythia is a bit larger though still intimate. There is a bar so we were able to enjoy a glass of wine while we waited for friends.. Mine was a Jacquere, a varietal from Savoie that is rarely seen on wine lists and which reflected the interesting selections available by glass or bottle. The kitchen is open so you can watch Kearse work his magic.
While we were sharing our appetizers, my attention was drawn to a figure that appeared in the corner of my eye. I looked up to see George Perrier then Kearse coming out of the kitchen to greet him. That was a moment; two generations, two masters of the culinary arts.
