Fortnum & Mason Piccadilly London Reviews from The Last Year
Absolutely Beautiful store!
This is a must, the store is beautiful, lovely building! Well laid out! Very nice toilets! Helpful and friendly staff. You can get carried away!
Jubilee Afternoon Tea Experience
A fabulous afternoon tea at F&M with scrumptious food, amazing service from Harrison, relaxed atmosphere and top up of any food or tea when needed. Highly rate the experience.
Choose your chocolates
I loved choosing my own chocolates from their display. Thank you, Caterina for making it such a fun experience! The guava and passion fruit is a treat for the eyes as well. Such a happy yellow 😊
A renown high end tea shop and food market located not from
A renown high end tea shop and food market located not from Picadilly Circus. May even be considered the most famous tea shop in London. They have all kinds to choose from, and not just tea, but biscuits and so many other food options. That's just the first floor. In the lower level there's a whole food market with a variety of food stations, from pasta to meat to bread, where you can order items to go, or to have there. I know there's a high end tea salon there called Diamond Jubilee I believe, but I didn't go in there, but I'm sure it's worth it if you're looking for a high tea service. There's also a fancy wine bar on premises, and then a separate restaurant on the 2nd floor, where I got lunch. Wasn't super expensive. I got the bubbles and squeak, an English dish I'd never heard of before. It was interesting, it's potato and cabbage molded into a patty, with a fried egg on top, and then covered in hollandaise sauce. I'm glad I got to try it. And then got to have a craft beer I hadn't had before with it. I'd say this place is definitely worth checking out, even if you're not a tea person, there's so many other things to check out.
Extremely disappointing afternoon tea
The only disappointing part of my family's trip to London was the tea experience at Fortnum & Mason. For the price and reputation, I was expecting something very different. It was crowded, chaotic and extremely noisy (and this even before being seated next to a large and very loud bridal party.) The service and food was underwhelming. 2 of our water glasses had lipstick smudges. I was served my son's tea and vice-versa. The service was very slow and we had to request items repeatedly, some of which we never received. Our server seemed unhappy in her position. The ladies room was so small that it was almost impossible to squeeze past patrons at the sink to get to the stall. The supply cabinet door fell off its hinges. We spent over $350 for 3 people and I feel completely ripped-off, as rather than being a pleasant and relaxing experience, it was frustrating and extremely disappointing. I would have requested to speak to a manager but due to the very slow service we had to depart.
Matilda Talbot is a legend
We have been to Fortum and Mason for cream team a few times before but this time was an our favourite visit by far. I was treating my husband on this occasion for our 10 year anniversary, we were swept away in to a lovely quiet room set away from the busy main dinning hall. This in itself was really lovely and thoughtful of the staff. We were looked after by a lovely young lady called Matilda Talbot who was the hostess with the mostes, she was very informative about the menu and kept us regularly topped us with champagne and sandwiches - which are my favourite! The bread is the softest ever and the fillings all absolutely delicious! The smoked trout was melting on my tongue. My husband loved all of the cakes. All of it was exquisite from start to finish and truly wonderful anniversary experience, we can’t wait to come back again soon!!
Weekend in London
We were in London as part of my 60th birthday celebrations and they would not be complete without a visit to Fortnum and Mason. Everything about this shop is quality and the food hall is something else. We had a light lunch in the Ice Cream Parlour where the staff were very friendly and the food was lovely.
Diamond Jubilee Tea Saloon is a must visit place !!
Went for a tea at the Diamond Tea Saloon. Absolutely brilliant, glass of champagne with the tea .. my wife had the savoury, I had the sweet, they cater for all of Diarra requirements. Superb choice of teas and our server Esmeralda was so kind, helpful and understanding.. I cannot praise her sufficiently enough.
Will not let tell friends to go there
Great place but the sandwich bread was hard the breakfast tea was really bad the bubbles was quite sharp the staff were great Really looked after you the hand towels in the toilet were a great touch
Disappointing
Very nice place with two restaurants and floors dedicated to retail. We took the classic tea for two but the price wasn't worth what they brought us, the bread with cedar was good while the two desserts were ordinary and too many sweets, nothing special. I wouldn't go back. Sin
Well!
Stunning shop, an obligatory stop for me as a tea lover. Lots of choice, clean and welcoming multi-storey shop.
Located inside the retail store the Field Cafe has some
Located inside the retail store the Field Cafe has some interesting favorites. The six of us arrived on the #38. We were just in time for breakfast, or brunch/lunch. I went with breakfast, coffee Americana...ah yes black, no milk? I went with the omelet mayfield cheese with a side of streakie bacon and an order of pancakes with plumb compote my brother ordered some scones as well. A couple of bacon sandwiches were ordered and eaten and a something else down the table behind the pots of freshly brewing tea. Definably a cafe worthy of this fine retail establishment. I picked up some truffles and a box or loose tea. Yummy memories, Thanks Foodguy-martin
Great dept store in London.
Tons of teas and food as well as clothing and home supplies. Fun to browse and tons of interesting items. Classic designs of china and supplies. When in London this is a MUST.
We heard that Fortnum & Mason was the de-facto place to do
We heard that Fortnum & Mason was the de-facto place to do high tea, and we weren't disappointed! Came here with a recommendation and had a wonderful time. Lots of great savory and sweet options, and service was very professional and classy. We had a wonderful time, something that served as a highlight of our trip.
For me this place was like the Disneyland of English tea
For me this place was like the Disneyland of English tea --four floors of all things to do with tea and more. I even ate dinner at Field on the ground floor and it was delicious. I came back a few days later to buy more tea and goodies because I knew I wouldn't be able to buy any of them locally. My all time favorite is Royal blend. Mmmhmm
Went with friends for tea.
Pretty expensive so we expected a premier experience. Overall the selection and desserts were good, but very limited quantity for a hungry but hardly out of sort group. We weren't asking for three portions, just a few more of some items we liked. Have had tea in London, Dublin and the US and never had such an astonishingly rude staff. I assume because we were a younger group when we asked for a few more items and tea refills they essentially didn't respond .. practically churlish and ignoring asks. Obviously just a an example of a poorly run business living off of its old reputation and providing bad service while overcharging because people let them get away with it. And in our case figured ... ah younger tourists let's take advantage of them. Expected better ... rip off. Plenty of good tea services in the city. Guarantee you can do better
While you could spend a day in this complex of FM with 4
While you could spend a day in this complex of FM with 4 floors of shops and things to see/do buy... Unfortunately, we didn't find this to be our FAV of the teas we've done in London. I'm glad we did it once with it's rich history etc. but would not go back to this one (sadly) The main reason because of the actual food itself. The sammies we had were all a bit underwhelming and also? the bread had a bit of a hard ness that usually means they were sitting aside for a spell. The pastries and teas were all very good though. Service impeccable, gracious.
Love it! Great selection and variety.
Great teas and gifts. Decor was very nice in this place . Food at the restaurant very tasty and delicious!
Fortnum & Mason is undoubtedly one of my favorite
Fortnum & Mason is undoubtedly one of my favorite department stores of all time! Before coming to London, my coworker told me there was a "tea shop" that I had to check out. I was expecting a small tea boutique but was met with something so much more. This department store is filled from top to bottom with incredible teas, coffees, sweets, and holiday/home decor. It was a DREAM. My favorite part of visiting was being able to smell and purchase a wide variety of unique teas like Chamomile & Bee Pollen, Smokey Earl Grey, Lavender Honey, and so many more. These unique flavors have become my favorites teas. I also bought accompanying biscuits to pair with my teas. In the end, I spent a couple hours in the department store and I brought home an extra carryon luggage with the high quality merchandise of this department store. I'd go again in a heartbeat!
This store is undoubtedly one of the most festive and
This store is undoubtedly one of the most festive and decorated in London. The building itself has lots of history (check out those two figures of the founders on the facade). That said, over Christmas, I would avoid it if I can, especially in the afternoon/evening as it is incredibly busy. And if you end up there by serendipity or dire need for tea/coffee/holiday treats, opt for the -1 or +1 floors, instead of the ground one. There you can at least breathe (somewhat)... Outside, it is very much worth a stop though. Leading up to the holidays, the facade turns into an advent calendar, and the windows designs make you want to buy everything, and then some.

I have a notice stating that my bid has been accepted and is awaiting transfer. The reservation is for the 18th, but the “moderator” said he will confirm booking by the 28th. Is this an indicator that I may not have a reservation?

Hey @EvocativeFold67, welcome to appointmenttrader! Once the reservation is in your portfolio, you definitely own the timeslot, the review team would not have approved the trade if the reservation wasn't confirmed - so you are going :-) Judging from your post you bid today and are going tomorrow - don't worry as long as you initiated the name transfer, you are good - the transfer service has to work with the opening hours of the reservation team of the respective venue. You will likely see the transfer confirmation a couple hours before your reservation time.
