Frankie's Italian ChopHouse St. Petersburg Reviews from The Last Year
We are locals, live close by, been meaning to try this
We are locals, live close by, been meaning to try this restaurant. Everything about it far exceeded our expectations. The food was phenomenal. Everything we tried was perfect, very fine dining Italian cuisine taste. The service was excellent, we loved Russell! He had excellent suggestions, very professional yet personable. The ambiance isn't super fancy like a 5 start steakhouse, but it's nicer inside than you'd think. We will definitely be back!
Had the Veal Chop Milanese, was delicious! Worth the ride.
Service and ambience very good
I've been meaning to try this place for some time now.
Came here with friends on a Thursday night around 8pm. We had actually made reservations for 8:30 and were expecting to just have some drinks at the bar but the hostess sat us right away. There were only about 5 other tables occupied. It was quite slow which I thought would've been a good thing in terms of the speed of service. Not the case. It took forever to get drinks, to get the check and then to run the credit card. Our particular server was friendly but perhaps not cut out for being a server. Started off with the carpaccio and bread service. The dipping sauce for the bread is by far the star of this show. My understanding is that it's one of the staples that connect this place to Cafe Cibo. I can see why. It's amazing! They really ought to jar it up and sell it. I'd likely buy a whole case of it. I went with the pork chop for the main and it was ordered at medium temperature. It was way over charred and black (see picture). Although still quite most and flavorful it wasn't prepared correctly at all. The sides were good. In summary the service was slow, the food wasn't prepared correctly, and the service was far too slow on a non busy night. I'm glad I tried it but I don't think I'll be back any time soon. There are far better valued places in the area. It was a regrettable $300 dinner but c'est la vie.
A group of 8 friends and myself were here the past Friday
A group of 8 friends and myself were here the past Friday evening. Reservations were at 6 and we were seated immediately. The menu has a lot to offer but not much to where you are stuck deciding for 15 minutes. I had the NY strip and it was phenomenal. They grill fire their steaks so it has a flight char to them. I love that! We ordered 6 different sides and not one disappointed. The live "rat pack" singer was a nice add to the evening. The only thing that did not fit was the charge for bread. It was a first for me to have a restaurant charge for bread but I assume there is a reason. Definitely not a deal breaker as everything g else about this place was a superb!
I was completely unimpressed.
To start with, I have never been to an Italian restaurant that charges for bread. The glass that came with my wine had a chip in it. The pork porterhouse pork chop I ordered for dinner was raw in the center. Needless to say, I didn't eat it. In addition, meals come with no sides. All the sides are a la carte. My husband ordered the rigatoni with sausage pesto, it was over run with pesto and extremely salty. He couldn't eat it. We were very disappointed. It is a very overpriced restaurant for the quality of food.

This restaurant has amazing delicious food! With a group of 8 we had impeccable service, delicious food, our oysters for appetizers were a lovely special of the night. Along with our meatballs, octopus and their famous mozzarella dish Everyone at our table ordered something different for entree so we could taste and pass around plates. This was a great way to taste several options on the menu which I must say were absolutely delicious. great selection of wines, bourbons. And after all that food, we managed to find room for dessert to polish off an amazing dinner. We had out-of-town friends and they said and I quote " we are from Long Island and this is the best restaurant of our vacation" definitely a keeper on our list of dinners.
Great food and quick service.
Multiple managers checked in during our meal. Cocktails good but not great. Ambiance lacking vs. other steakhouses but still nice compared to a standard restaurant. Some items can get pricey but if you order right there's plenty of options that are great value and very affordable. Definitely worth a try, but don't expect Berns.

Very Disappointing Meal
We reserved a table for 5 people on Friday,3/30, to celebrate my 79th birthday. I must say that Jaleesa was an excellent, attentive waitress. The fresh mozzarella was very good. The filet and veal milanese were both well prepared and tasty. Both prime ribeye steaks were extremely chewy, basically uneatable. Neither my son nor I finished ether steak. My mashed potatoes were only slightly warm. The meat on the steakhouse alfredo was so tough that my lady friend could not eat it. Needless to say 3 of the 5 people did not enjoy their meal. The total bill was $500 and I left a $75 tip because Jaleesa was so pleasant. This was our first visit to Frankie's and we were extremely disappointed.
Fantastic Dining Experience at Frankie's Italian Chophouse!
Frankie's Italian Chophouse exceeded all expectations! From the warm welcome to the exquisite dishes, every moment was a delight. The Antipasto Platter showcased fresh flavors, while the Bone-In Ribeye and Lobster Ravioli were absolute standouts. Topped off with a divine Tiramisu, this restaurant is a must-visit for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. Exceptional service sealed the deal. Highly recommend!
Once we saw this, we nixed our plans for a late breakfast
Once we saw this, we nixed our plans for a late breakfast at Crown and Bull (where they make their corned beef hash from scratch and serve til 2pm) before a dr appt in Clearwater, as we would be halfway there anyway. Driving in the storms wasnt fun and while the items we ordered werent as generous as they showed on Charlie Belcher's TV segment, they were well prepared and delish. That crab cake was prob one of the very best we have ever had and the char/cook (med rare on the rare side AKA rare+) on the tomahawk ribeye was superb. The bread service was well worth the $7 and the mashed and garlic spinach sides were perfection as well. A warning if you dont like overly sweet desert, the carrot cake is very little cake with alot of super sweet frosting and weirdly had a ton of caramel drizzle. Thankfully our server removed it from the tab. Wed is half off bottles of wine and I hogged their I-pad menu for a bit while I googled a few contenders on my phone to settle on Daou's The Pessimist (how appropriate) Red Blend. First, it comes from an area that we LUV LUV LUV , second there was no mention in reviews/descriptions of tannins no matter how supposedly "refined " or "subtle" and third we saw that it rated a 92 from Robert Parker who we generally agree with and did again on this occasion. We always say that you cant eat ambience but it is nevertheless appreciated, and Frankie's delivers. All in all, it was a delightful 42nd anniversary dinner that had to be delayed several weeks due to medical issues. https://www.fox13news.com/video/1434793
Waited awhile to write this review.
My husband and I were taking my daughter out for a special occasion. It was St Patrick's Day and they weren't very busy at all. We ordered a bottle of wine off their I pad wine list and it took four tries before the waiter found a bottle they actually had. We ordered 2 steaks which were so charred it was almost inedible. We were told it's because the steaks are cooked at 700 degrees however we love the steaks at Salt Rock Grill and their steaks are cooked at 1200 degrees and never charred like these steaks were. I ordered chicken cacciatore. It basically was a piece of chicken covered in sauce. My daughter had the steak alfredo which had a horrible taste and she couldn't finish it. Cesar salads were basically a few pieces of romaine lettuce with sardines. My husband ordered the mushrooms which he said tasted like they came out of a can. The best thing about our meal was the bread service. In our opinion it's extremely overpriced. Everything is ala carte . Our bill was $400 with tip. We don't mind paying for good food but unfortunately we didn't get it here. There's way too many restaurants that we frequent and spend a lot less and get much better food!

Food was amazing, service was great, perfect place for a date night. We live listening to Dino's smooth vocals and the atmosphere is friendly and fun, it's our new favorite place.

We brought good friends of ours to celebrate my wife's birthday. This was the third time at Frankie's. Their first. Unfortunately we had a real bad experience with the food. Three dishes were way over spiced with red pepper. My wife's dinner, sea bass was very good. My suggestion to chef....layoff the red pepper flakes or what ever hot spice you are using. A note about our server, she was very good and attentive.
Exceptional! My husband and I love this place.
We were blown away by how delicious the food is. The octopus and bread service were exceptional. The squid ink pasta and steak alfredo were so delicious! We love this place
Don't pay attention to any bad reviews people have posted.
I don't care what their experience was like. Frankie's food is off the chain. It's the bee's knees. Off the heezy fo sheazy. Their steaks are decadent, the brussel sprouts are amazing, and the best dang old-fashioned around. I've been to most of the steakhouses in the Tampa Bay Area. They're better than Rococos, better than Berns, better than the chains like Ruth's Chris and Flemings. If the Karens of the world who left reviews deter you from coming here, you will have missed out.
10/10 Can't Wait For Next Month
A business colleague of mine and I have been coming to this location for the past few months to put on a casual Happy Hour to introduce our connections to each other and it has been an incredible experience every time. The bartenders are exceptional and very friendly, and the atmosphere is extremely inviting. I highly recommend you check this place out whenever you get the chance.
So disappointed in this restaurant.
I heard good things about this restaurant & was following their Instagram page when I decide to make a reservation for myself & my family. My family drove 45 minutes to get to Frankies. After the experience we had, I was embarrassed for making them drive so far. Our table wasn't in the area we had reserved & we weren't given the option to wait for one. My brother's filet mignon, while cooked properly in the inside, was charred so bad on the outside that you could smell the burn across the table & taste it the minute you bit into it. My sister-in-law's chicken was bone dry, and the brussels sprouts, which looked gorgeous online, were so overcooked they were black. When we called the manager over, he was very patronizing & had the attitude of "well this is how we cook." When we showed him photos from their Instagram of the things we ordered, he didn't care & made no attempt to make it right. We were still charged for the items that were barely edible. I hate writing bad reviews & I attempted to contact Frankies via their Instagram page & through two contact emails they had listed on their website. I never got a response, which further shows how much they don't care about their customers, especially given they continue to post on Instagram.

Food is always great and service is friendly.
Scott was our waiter tonight. Fantastic birthday dinner
Wonderful
Love the atmosphere and great food! took some coworkers there and we had a grand time, great customer service and came out quick
Great Food
Great experience. I was surprised how good the service was. The food was even better. I cant wait to go back.
GREAT STEAK!
Frankies was very enjoyable. I visited with my family. on Thursday. The steak was fabulous. We come down to Florida every year and look forward to having a nice dinner. Its amazing there's a new Steakhouse in st petersburg
Chilled Disappointment: A Meatball Misadventure
I'm disappointed to share that my recent experience at Frankies Italian Chophouse was far from satisfying. The food arrived cold, and the sauce had an unpleasant burnt flavor with a noticeable smokiness. The meatballs were reminiscent of meatloaf shaped into balls. It's quite disheartening, as I've dined here with friends in the past, and the food was outstanding. This time, however, the quality was a letdown. Not coming back!
Expensive, NOT great but maybe worth a try
The service was generally pretty good. I had the ribeye. It was undercooked and way too much salt. It was also very fatty and not in a good, marbled way. For what you get, I thought it was expensive. In my opinion, there are much better Italian restaurants and steak places that I would choose. It is worth giving it a try, but not a must go.
Amazing restaurant
Simply put it as awesome and amazing the fresh mozzarella, crab cakes, veal is to die for and incredible steaks
