Dirty, dirty things. And those rumors were very well founded.This place ends up doing things to you that you've never experienced in your life: easily one of the best dining experiences you've ever had.This place only does a tasting menu: 5 courses, but you know right away that was a fucking lie.Amuse Bouche: a trio. A "bao" of Roquefort cheese and a sour cherry, a mini tart of apple and celery, and a prepared oyster with cauliflower espuma (foam). Your mouth is very amused.Course #1. Foie Gras with bok choy, snow pea, charred broccoli, and blood orange segements. The richness of the foie perfectly balanced by the vegetables. A great start. The rustic white with orange rind in it helps bring this all together.Course #2. Langostino tortellini with citrus and a langostino broth. Your mind is reeling from how perfectly prepared and perfectly balanced this dish is. You lick the last drops of broth off of your mistress' boot. The 2010 white wine paired with this exquisite.Course #3. Scallops with a purée of kale and a coffee vinegar. (Side note: the coffe used was the same coffee mentioned in Coffee Porn #5). The scallop is perfectly firm yet soft in your mouth. The balance struck between kale and coffee is mind boggling. The Grand Cru Riesling from Alsace finished with notes of ginger at the end? Phenomenal.Course #4. Lamb 2 ways: A mini lamb loin on the bone and a lamb tenderloin stuffed with nuts and citrus finished with a lamb jus. The Syrah paired with the lamb beautifully.Secret Course #1: mini pita with braised lamb and crema. Arguably better than the amazing lamb dish you just had.Secret Course #2: cheese course. Specifically, a triple cream brie with apple and a Brie foam with pomegranate seeds. Incredibly inventive and successful way to serve cheese.Course #5. Chocolate cake with an avocado cream and mango tuiles. The chocolate: dark and rich. The avocado breaks up the richness while the mango's sharpness balances the whole thing.Secret Course #3. Apricot gelée candy piece, chocolate caramel chew, and chocolate piece. You knew these sneaky fuckers weren't sticking to 5 courses.This meal was the perfect balance of excellent service, perfectly prepared and executed food, and the perfect amount of food. Truly one of the greatest meals had by anyone.
