Went to Gather last night for a girlfriends dinner, but
Went to Gather last night for a girlfriends dinner, but have also been many other times over the past few years with my family. Last night was no different than any other time I've been, and ultimately why I keep coming back. From the moment you walk in, the staff are friendly and the ambiance is lovely. The layout and vibes are cozy but also intimate with the dim lights. Our server was very friendly last night but also gave us the appropriate amount of space to enjoy ourselves.I've never had food here that wasn't great, and last night was no different. The dishes are meant to be shared but don't have to be. The cauliflower and whipped ricotta starters are amazing. Highly recommend Gather!

It's very much a farm to table restaurant. The food is shareable and absolutely delicious! The ambiance was very dark and intimate like. From the moment we walked in, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. It felt like they've known us forever even though it was our first time. Our server was very attentive and made sure we were refilled on water and made sure our orders were in if we wanted more drinks. Get the basil smash drink, so so refreshing.Food wise we got the cauliflower which everyone I was with liked, personally wasn't a fan. The brussel sprouts were out of this world. So crispy, the pistachios gave it an extra crunch. Totally would come back just for this. Then entrees we all got something different. The salmon was delicious and the skin was SO crispy. The pork chop was so delicious. The chicken was just okay. The short rib we were not a fan of.

Absolutely best brunch in Lincoln Square, it's a Sunday morning tradition for anyone who comes to visit. The cocktails are always delicious
Be the first to ReplyBeen wanting to come in for a while now and finally did.
The food was pretty good, not crazy good but definitely better than most. The wine selection was robust. Unfortunately the restaurant is so small that tables are practically on top of one another. My partner and I were squeezed into a corner booth and we were so close the the table next to us that we could barely have a conversation with each other. Not only that but the servers kept having to squeeze by and ask people to scoot their chairs in just so they could get to the corner tables. I can't image that the table next to us appreciated the server practically sitting on their table just to take our order. The patio looks so inviting in photographs that I may just have to come back and try this place again when the weather warms up since it was the indoor dining that was disappointing, not the food.

My boyfriend and I celebrated my birthday / Valentine's Day with dinner at Gather. We heard about Gather because I googled some vegetarian friendly restaurant and had the highest ratings of all restaurants in the area, so I made reservations. To sum it up, we WILL be back for the spring seasonal menu. This was the best tasting food... as well as beautifully plated... we have had in years. The atmosphere was calm and romantic. The service was phenomenal. I can't recommend this place enough. 10/10.

Incredible cocktails and amazing menu. Everything is full of flavor and prepared to perfection. Weekend brunch is also the bomb. Stop reading this review and just reserve a spot and try it already!
Be the first to ReplyOne of my favorite restaurants in the city.
Good, ambience & service is excellent. Cozy booths make talking with table mates relatively easy. Parking within a block or two is never a problem. So great to have its sister restaurant, Warbler, next door too!

Absolutely fantastic meal! Our server was lovely and took the time to explain their menu and answer any questions we had. The food was, without a doubt, one of the best meals I've had in Chicago!
Be the first to ReplyA true hidden gem.
I'm not sure exactly how I came across this place but I'm glad I did. There's a couple of things I'd change such as the salad failed in comparison to the meal & my drink's alcohol content was minuscule in addition to being served on the rocks thus making an already weaker drink becoming watered down. Those tidbits couldn't deter my opinion. I read another reviewer mention that they'd accommodate you albeit not having a reservation & that's exactly what they did with me & my family. The service is quite stellar despite being on the casual side of dining. We opted for the Sunday Family style dinner & added to cocktails & my daughters appetizer of apples, entree of buttered noodles & an ice cream sundae for her & just barely accumulated a $100 bill which is unheard of nowadays. Twas one of the best squash dishes I've ever had. The chicken is akin to Chik fil A but at an extremely elevated level with the whipped chili butter. Chips atop the pasta was a weird albeit welcome addition. Very unconventional flavors that were delicious. We had plenty of leftovers which is a true testament to how much food this is & how great a deal it was. One of the cooks even came out to engage with my daughter about her dessert. This is what a family dinner should entail. Lastly it's worth mentioning that the pacing was perfect. I never felt rushed nor impatient for the courses. Get your asses here immediately!
Be the first to Reply5 stars without any doubt! Everything we ordered was a hit
5 stars without any doubt! Everything we ordered was a hit and very reasonably priced. My favorite was the Seared Pork Belly. The vegetables served with the pork belly perfectly balanced with its fat. The Crispy Cauliflower was packed with so much flavor and the Whipped Ricotta was like nothing I've had before. The Uovo Ravioli was also amazing. All in all, a great experience for a great price. For a party of 3, we got 4 items from Gather & Share, 1 appetizer and 2 desserts for just $90 total (pre-tip), which was a great price! It was the perfect amount of food to feel satiated without feeling like we overate. Pictures don't capture how good the food was.

Such great food here and friendly, attentive staff! We had a very enjoyable experience here on a Saturday night. We had sat at the counter before, so we opted to eat in the covered outdoor area. I was a little nervous about that because whenever I've dined in a back room the staff has ignored me. That didn't happen here. There was lots of checking in and of course lots of food dropped off. We started with some appetizers...glazed baby carrots, crispy cauliflower, seared pork belly and the watermelon salad. I LOVED the watermelon salad and had a hard time sharing. Next we all got entrees. I got the pork shoulder and everyone else got a burger. I was like WTF a burger? When the others were served they said it was the best damn burger they ever had. My pork shoulder was yummy and I took home leftovers.I ate more than I usually do for dinner, but it was all so good! I'll be back!

I've eaten a lot of fancy a$$ and well reviewed restaurants so it i don't say this lightly that this was probably tied with the best meal i've ever eaten. Leagues beyond the pretentious overrated Alinea and for one tenth the price. We got the Crispy Cauliflower, Chicken Liver Mousse, Uovo Raviolo, Braised Pork Shoulder, Roasted Mushrooms with Quinoa, and the Crisp with ice cream for dessert. Everything was cooked perfectly and flavorful. Several dishes that just shock you with how good they are. The cauliflower was our favorite dish, similar to but better than any orange chicken i've ever had. The mousse dish was so creamy and delicious. The raviolo was in a truffle butter sauce that requires plate licking. Pork shoulder was delicious and tasted surprisingly light in the cucumber salad. The mushrooms and quinoa was very interesting with the sweet potato and crispy broccoli. Excellent drinks as well with a great variety. Started with a cider since they had good beer options and then had an old fashioned. My wife had the seasonal harvest cocktail and kaiyo kuri japanese whiskey. All of it very tasty good sh!%.Would not change anything, service and space was great as well. Maybe a little better suited for small groups than larger ones. A little far from us to go regularly (would go here every couple weeks otherwise) but will definitely be back.
Be the first to ReplyWow! Our first time at this place and it was phenomenal.
What a gem. We sat at the kitchen top seating and Chef Derek was amazing. 100% recommend the cauliflower. Thanks for having us!

Chef Nicholas deserves all the praise for delicious and thoughtful food.. but the absence of service attention and a clunky tech process to order made the experience frustrating and lackluster. Customer experience is apparently not a priority at Gather.
Be the first to ReplyWOW! The service here was out of this world.
So kind, helpful, and quick. You can see all of the care and love that has gone into this space. The world was outstanding! It was the best skillet potatoes I've ever had. The flavors were complex and balanced. I'm salivating just thinking about it again. There were no complaints from our entire table besides not living close enough to visit this spot daily. Check out the strawberry donut. The topping was bold and fresh. The pistachios added the perfect top note. We'll be back!!!!!

Be the first to ReplyThis place is so consistent.
From the extremely friendly and helpful staff who always answer the phone, to the delicious and creative small plates and entrees, this restaurant just does so much right. I have been here 4+ times with different groups of people (date night, parents in town, friends, etc) and they always deliver. The wait staff is so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu, and every person who works there seems genuinely happy and proud to be there. As someone who has worked in restaurants in the past, I can say this is extremely rare! I have never had a bad dish here, but some favorites include:- Chicken liver mousse- Gnocchi (and any pasta dish on the menu)- Cauliflower- Salmon - Braised pork shoulder Also the table next to us got burgers last night and they looked insane. Will definitely be back to try those soon! Finally the ambiance is also lovely, and I especially love snagging a table on the romantic and covered patio. Keep doing what you're doing Gather, we are lucky to have you in the neighborhood!

Excellent cocktails, a good wine list, and an delicious (if limited) food menu. Don't miss the crispy cauliflower starter or the grilled salmon. Our vegetarian friends unanimously recommend the quinoa and mushrooms and say that it's not your usual "one vegan option on the menu" type offering.

Awesome honey crisp apple salad with Brussels and pecan butter. Wonderful- really wonderful- chicken liver pate. We enjoyed salmon and the pork shoulder--both were delightful.

I've been meaning to check out Gather for a little bit, so when I found myself in the area without anything to do, I took myself on a little solo date night.I ordered myself the seasonal harvest cocktail with pear, and honestly it might be one of the best cocktails I've ever had. Definitely on the sweeter side though, so if you don't like sweet cocktails, I'd ask your server for another recommendation.Next up was the steak tartare. This was also delicious. I really liked the little pieces of toasted bread. The brussel sprouts were good, definitely not the best I've ever had but still really good. Between those two, I was honestly super full and got the rest of the brussel sprouts to go.I still had room for dessert. The server recommended the earl grey custard which was light but super flavorful.I can't wait to go back, but this time with friends so I can try more things on this menu!
Be the first to ReplyMade a reservation for our B day dinner and it was later
Made a reservation for our B day dinner and it was later then we wanted. I get it dine is back and tables are at a premium. However I called the restaurant to inquire if we could come in early. Not hoping for much I wasn't prepared for the dismissive, rude response I received. We have dined at Warbler for years and can not believe these establishments are related. The person I spoke with was so nasty. Not someone I would have for the "face of the restaurant"? So sadly cancelled our reservation and I am sure restaurant could care less since dining out is the hot thing right now. But fellow diners, be careful where you eat. Everyone should still expect gracious service and a bit of decency.

My family loved our dinner here! Great options for kids, adults and vegetarians and the staff was very accommodating. I tried the marigold cocktail which was delicious. For dinner, some of us shared small plates while others got their own meals. The shareable plates were indeed very shareable, we ended up over ordering (but eating it all, ). Standouts we're the asparagus salad and the pork belly. Can't wait to come back on our next trip to Chicago!
