I inquired about having a graduation party there about 2 weeks ago and they never got back to me. I used the request form on their website and I haven't heard anything.

The food was very delicious and fresh, truly enjoyable but the service was surprisingly awful. Patrick was our waitstaff and was rude from the moment we sat down. I hate to think this was the case but we were the only table of POCs and the difference we experienced was palpable from start to finish. I would order food for take out but won't bother dining in.
Be the first to ReplyAmbiance is 5 stars - super cute place.
I really wanted to like it but the food is mediocre at best. Came here for late lunch / early dinner. My friend got the soup (bean and something soup) I tried it, it was bland. She agreed. I got the Caesar salad - also totally lacked flavor and was bland. Needed more parmesean or more flavor in the dressing or something. We got the pizza of the month (week?) and that was decent but overly greasy. My friend had been here before and she said the food has really gone down hill. I would check out another place next time I go to Berkeley.

Loved: Beet & quinoa bowl Liked: Chicken caesar wrap Wouldn't get again: Spicy tomato pizza (not a fan of the flavor), Sausage pizza (barely any sausage topping; one slice was straight up just plain cheese)

Our party of 4 came here on the recommendation of my much younger daughter. Pizza is very popular, and with good reason. We had a reservation on a recent Sunday early evening and they were able to seat us earlier. Based on my experience, I would suggest making a reservation because this place is popular. We had the Brussels sprouts which were excellent-very flavorful. One person had the cheese burger and ate the whole thing (huge compliment, because she doesn't eat much), one had the veggie burger, and my husband and I got a pizza and Caesar salad. The pizza was the flavor of the month, with leeks and asparagus. Delish. The salad seemed undressed and I am sure they would have brought more dressing but we didn't get around to asking. The pizza could have served 3, maybe even 4. But in our case, it served 2! We were in the "outdoor" area which is heated and covered and very comfortable. The restaurant is pretty, inviting, and festive. I highly recommend, and hope to return.
Be the first to ReplyHad a large 20 person event at the outdoor garden area.
Logistically, this was easy to organize and attend, great for large groups. High ceiling, heaters, and cross wind cover. The seating was not crowded, kids had space when they needed it. Service was prompt. The food was decent, better for some like avocado toast, classic breakfast, others like chickpea panisse was okay. Cheese pizza was great for kids and parents. I would come back for casual lunch or dinner.

I went to Gather 3/23/24 expecting a $20 lunch at Gather as part of Berkeley Restaurant Week. They advertised the special from 3/21 - 3/31. It was not honored as we went there for brunch, not lunch. Pitiful explanation even when we were clearly in the right. My advice to people - AVOID DEALS, AVOID COUPONS, and don't expect anything for Berkeley Restaurant Week unless you read the fine print. Call first so you know the "rules". The food was good, the restaurant was loud, loud, loud with music. $16.00 for 2 scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast. I wouldn't go back to this restaurant.

I stopped in for lunch yesterday and had the Marin Sun Farms Cheeseburger. The food was great, but counter service left something to be desired since I had a coffee; it would have been nice if someone came around to refill your cup. I'd still come back, but I'd bring my own cup since they allow you to bring your own cup.

Came here for brunch around 1 pm on a Saturday with my boyfriend. We were able to get seated right away. I ordered a cafe au lait which was quite nice and my boyfriend ordered a bloody mary which he described as "good, but a little on the sweet side". For food, we ordered the potato soup, french toast, and croque madame. I loved the soup! It was so warm and comforting, just what I needed on a cold afternoon. The french toast was also divine - the apple and mascarpone really balanced the sweetness. The croque madame was just okay to me. The space is really beautiful with high ceilings, cozy wood, and plants everywhere. The only gripe I had with this restaurant is the music. They were playing really random songs that didn't match up with the vibes. It wasn't my cup of tea. I would come back though!
Be the first to Replya lil overpriced and food was mid imo.
the french toast was also rly sweet but nice ambiance and cute for photos

The outdoor patio is very cute and spacious! However, all 3 pizzas that my table ordered were not very yummy--I felt they were on the bland side. I personally had the brunch pizza, and I would not recommend it. The coffee and drinks were excellent though. I'd reccomend this place for you if you love farm to table food! I definitely want to try this place again because I want to love it--will just avoid the pizzas next time. the service and ambience were excellent! Will come again.
Be the first to ReplyGreat place for soup and salads.
You can get a combo which is best value for money. Service is quick.
Be the first to ReplyMy wife, daughter and myself met at Gather today for lunch.
The menus arrived after a few minutes, and the wait staff a few minutes after that. We ordered the Seasonal Frittata ($19), a Marin Sun Farms Cheeseburger ($22), and the Spicy Tomato Pizza ($23), a coffee, and I ordered a hot black tea (served Earl Grey - a flavored tea, not what I was looking for) The burger was ordered without cheese, and arrived with cheese. The server seemed a little perplexed, despite everyone having heard it ordered without cheese. The burger had decent condiments, but the patty itself was completely flavorless. The meat was neither salted nor seasoned, nor charred to add flavor. The fries were not piping hot and crisp. There was no salt, pepper, or sugar on the table, and it was necessary to hunt down staff to get anything. The pizza was delicious, and the high point of the meal. The frittata was okay, and the salad was barely dressed. The bill as presented was $80, and despite the disorganization the staff was cheerful and pleasant, so a 20% tip brought it to $96. That was not a $96 meal. The price did not translate into the expected quality of food, or service.
Be the first to ReplyI absolutely love this place! We had brunch on a Sunday.
We had the frittata, falafel and eggs, squash soup and breakfast eggs. Everything was super delicious and fresh. Soft ice cream was also very good. I'd stop by there everytime I'm in Berkeley!
Be the first to ReplyMy wife an I ate at Gather last night, a Saturday.
We arrived just before 5 PM and were promptly seated. Service was attentive. I first ordered a Sands of Time cocktail which was nicely done but gone in a few sips; $16 (overpriced!). I ordered a Butternut Squash soup for starters; soup was ok but ginger overwhelmed the butternut squash flavor and it was overly creamy. I ordered the baked chicken for dinner. It was decent but very basic; didn't seem to have any seasoning to liven up the flavor. My wife had the Falafel Burger. It was dry and lacked good flavor. Boring bun; surprising given it's supposedly Acme bread. Fries were cold and soggy. The vegetable slaw was mainly some roughly cut red cabbage with mayonnaise (at least that's what it tasted like). She didn't eat much, but shared my chicken. She expressed her disappointment to our waitress, who didn't charge us for the meal and offered to get something else. This morning, we both have funky stomachs, which we're assuming came from our dinner last night. We had eaten at Gather once before and were pleased, and based on reviews wanted to go back. But I don't think we will again. Very disappointed.

Great spot for lunch! I love the outdoor garden with the heat lamps. Good healthy lunch; the dinner menu has much more options. I think the lunch menu should be a little more expansive; but ambiance on point and satisfied my need for a healthy lunch with a glass of wine

a bit over priced, but the food is still pretty good! ordered the sprouts avocado toast - it was a "rustic" type bread and seasoning was good. def want to come back and try different dishes tho
Be the first to ReplyDelicious food! Had the Brussels, squash and chicken.
It was all incredible! Highly recommend
Be the first to ReplyGreat food and cocktails.
A solid Thursday night dinner and ideal launching point for night out at UC Theater.

i have to say i really wanted to love this place as it looks great and is convenient. However is just misses on all the little details. Like all of them. Chickpea burger super dry with no vegan condiments. Could put tahini on it and it would be edible. We had a party of seven and the time from the first person to the 7th felt pretty long by restaurant standards. Fries are only an inch long.
Be the first to ReplyI just don't get it.
The food is horrible. If this is what represents vegetarian food. Then someone got it wrong. I didn't like anything. I had the calamari dish and the brussel sprout item. It just sucks when I can make something better at home then this place.

Mediocre food for a fabulous location - how can they screw it up this bad?! Sheesh! Goodbye Gather.
